A great place to stay before catching the Dublin ferry. So conveniently close. The room was excellent and the complimentary breakfast wonderful. We loved it.

Such a beautiful lodge. The attention to detail and all the little extra touches made this such a lovely and comfortable stay. Hayley and John are wonderful hosts who went above and beyond during our stay. Highly recommend staying at Black Sheep Lodge if you're in Holyhead.

The room was lovely and light. Wonderful views of the harbour. There was a hany small table and 2 chairs in the bay window. The hoast was very concerned about providing for our cycles. I would recommend them for their attention to detail. The included DIY breakfast was delicious and very thoughtfully arranged.

The ensuite was very tight and the wash hand basin had to be in the room. This was manageable.

That accomodation was close to the Holly head port. Great location. It was very clean and tidy. Comfortable bed. Good shower 🚿

Spotlessly clean rooms, the hosts were very warm & welcoming, helped carry our bags up the stairs & even drove us into town to pick up our hire car!

I loved that pretty much everything we needed was already thought of and clearly labelled, especially regarding dietary requirements (I'm coeliac and need gluten free) and accommodating our dog. There were so many little extra touches which elevated this B&B to excellent. Hayley and John were lovely hosts who really love what they do. The only shame was that we were only staying for 2 nights.

A very nice B&B to stay at close to the seaside. The room was cozy and well equipped and the owners were dedicated to customer service. It takes 20-30 minutes to walk to the railway station and ferry terminal depending on your pace.

Nothing negative to say about the B&B. About Holyhead, though: There are very few restaurants, lots of takeaways, and pubs don't serve food after five.

Hayley and John are the best hosts i have encountered in many journeys. The black sheep lodge is a labour of love, and it can be seen in every little detail, from the beautiful artwork and decor (those black sheep toilet roll holders and door stops? Need to find them) to the breakfast room that is painstakingly put together. The rooms were very nice as well. A little strange, with the wash basins very far from the toilets, but it has personality. The hosts clearly love the town and gave us great recommendations for things to do. The beach at Rhosneigr and the South stack lighthouse were great with incredible drives. We ate at the white eagle and dream boat pizza, both very excellent. Metes smash burgers in the town centre was adequate

We had 2 seperate stays in this fabulous run accommodation. All very easy, clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay again.

The house was tastefully decorated and spotless. It was good to have parking for our motorbike! The entry instructions were clear and easy to follow. We slept well in comfortable beds. We liked it there so I've booked it again for the return journey!

A minor quibble but there was no dairy free spead at breakfast

We thought there was parking on site. There was ample parking on the street.

De ligging

Vonden het jammer dat bij aankomst de eigenares niet naar ons is gekomen om ons te verwelkomen. Blijkbaar zien zij de gasten binnenkomen met een camera en zijn zij zelf achteraan aanwezig maar toen mijn echtgenote wou weten of wij onze ijsblokken in een diepvries konden steken en daarvoor enkele deuren probeerde te openen die uitgaven op de gang, kregen wij daar een half uur laten reclamaties voor. Gewoon even goedendag komen zeggen had dit probleem direct opgelost. Wij durfden niet bellen omdat wij niemand wilden storen. ‘‘s morgens bij het ontbijt gaf de gastvrouw niets van uitleg , blijkbaar moesten we de bordjes lezen maar gelukkig was er een vriendelijke gast aanwezig die ons alles heeft uitgelegd

Location was good, close to the Ferry port. Room was clean and well equipped, and plenty of breakfast options to start the day.

Absolutely lovely lodge with amazing shore view. The complementary breakfast was absolutely great! I could recommend this place to everyone, the hosts were absolutely incredible during our short stay! 😊

The accommodation was great and stayed true to all the positive reviews in the internet. It is only a 2 min walk to the sea and has got plenty of roadside parking for your car. The host was a gentleman and gave his tips about the places of interest and restaurant. The room we stayed was neat, tidy and had fan which came in handy during the summer. The bed was comfy as well. The best part was the complimentary continental style breakfast which runs as a self service

This venue was so amazing! The hosts were so great. They were kind, accommodating, caring, and incredibly hospitable. They answered any questions that guests asked. The venue was clean, affordable, instructions for the venue were clear, and the location was amazing. I highly recommend this venue to anyone visiting the area.

We had a wonderful stay at the Black Sheep Lodge! We were in town for the Cybi Coastal Marathon and the lodge was walking distance from the ferry port and the race starting line. Our room was cozy and immaculate, and the breakfast was delicious. John and Hayley were delightful hosts and we would definitely return.

Nice quiet area in an estate, just outside holyhead.. 14mins walk from the ferry terminal and train station. Room was clean and I good size. View from the top floor was great..

Our hosts were exceptionally friendly. Even late after reception opening hours they were available to help as we needed some. Great location, great people!

The room was clean

The host was very rude. I rang the bell twice when we arrived since I wasnt sure if it was working or not. Then she was very annoyed and told that “ringing the bell twice wont make me come faster” even though i explained her. I think its not nice to be rude to someone who doesnt know your place and who is a guest. Not good manners.

We kwamen laat aan en dat was geen probleem. De instructie/communicatie was duidelijk. Een heel leuk huis, prima kamer, een prettige sfeer en vriendelijke gastvrouw en -heer. De verrassing was het ontbijt dat vanaf 6 uur beschikbaar was, we konden zelfs wat meenemen voor onderweg.

Ease of check in good communication , liked the key box for check in and out and the continental breakfast was fab , good information at hand and good toiletries.

I had an amazing stay, the owners are very kind and the location is amazing. The free breakfast is a very nice extra gesture.

It's an old property, so it can be a little bit noisy (I was next to the entrance). However, it didn't bother me very much, as all the guests were very considerate and quiet, and it is to be expected if you go for an authentic experience.

Sehr nett und liebevoll eingerichtetes Bed&Breakfast, hübsches Zimmer, sogar mit kleinem Flur und recht großem Bad, hübscher Frühstücksraum, sehr nette Begrüßung, problemloses Parken auf der Straße, Ort und Restaurants fußläufig, 5 Fahrminuten zur Irlandfähre, wenige Fahrminuten zu RSPB und Leuchturm.

Alles prima, um das Bett herum ist nicht sehr viel Platz, war aber ausreichend.

A very cosy hotel with eyes for details. We got a warm welcome from the owner who also told us a bit about the area.

This was our return trip into Holyhead. We loved the size of the room. It was clean and comfortable, with a nice view out the windows. Breakfast was lovely and set in a sweet room overlooking the garden.

Unglaublich freundliche und zuvorkommende Gastgeber! Sie hatten Tipps und Tricks, halfen uns an gewisse Orte zu kommen und es gab ein sehr feines Zmorgen in einem extra Raum. Die Zimmer haben eine angenehme Grösse und man kann gut lüften. Die Lage ist etwa 5 Minuten mit dem Auto vom Bahnhof weg, ruhig und tiptop.

besonder gut gefallen hat uns das Zimmer mit Meersicht. Wunderschön mediterran eingerichtet. Die Besitzerin hat ein ausgezeichnetes Flair für Details. Das Besitzerpaar ist sehr freundlich. Für das Frühstück steht alles zu Verfügung. Keine warme Küche. Aber das war uns sehr recht.

We stayed one night at twin room. Beds were super comfy. Was so quiet so we had very good sleep. Room and the rest of the property very clean. Hayley and John welcomed us warmly. Very nice people. Would definitely go back and highly recommend.

We had a lovely stay at Black Sheep. The bed was incredibly comfortable, everything was clean and a lovely continental breakfast was provided.

Heel vriendelijke ontvangst van de eigenaren. Het echtpaar bezorgde ons informatie waar we konden gaan eten en hoe we de volgende morgen vroeg het makkelijkst de boot konden nemen naar Ierland. Door ons vroeg vertrek konden we niet ontbijten maar er werd ons wel aangeboden om voor verse koffie te zorgen.

The location is 150 m from the ferry It's also right on the sea front and easy access to a wonderful bistro We did look around, but the rest of Holyhead is a bit Blackpool on sea We stayed on the top floor, 3 flights up which had roof top/sea/ferry view

The only minor issue we had was the very strong air freshener used throughout the property. As soon as you walk in, it’s quite overpowering — a thick, sweet, heavy scent that stays in the air. We think toning it down significantly would make a big improvement.

I couldn't get the TV to work, but there was a massive storm so that could be why.. There was an annoying noise caused by the door moving, I just put something against it.

The home vibe that the place has. It felt like coming home, cosy and comfortable. The owners are very friendly and take the time to talk with you and give you recommendations. The beach is less than a 2 min walk and the town center less than 10. I would definitely recommend!

I loved my room at the top of the Lidge with a sunset view to the mountains and a wee skylight in the bathroom. The room was lovely and continental breakfast was fabulous. The staff are considerate and friendly! I highly recommend this place!

The only thing I would like is loose leaf tea but that wasn’t available in any hotel I stayed in the UK.

After checking in,I messaged the host asking if I could have a late checkout until noon since my train was in the afternoon. I mentioned that if they could accommodate this, I would be very grateful and would happily leave a good review. If not, storing my luggage would be fine too — no pressure either way. The host never replied. When I asked in person the next day, She accused me of “blackmail” — three times — and even asked “Do you understand?” At the time, I didn’t fully understand what “blackmail” meant, so I actually tried to explain it as a cultural misunderstanding and even apologized to the host. It was only after asking others that I realized what a serious accusation “blackmail” truly is — and I was completely shocked. I later asked people across Holyhead, Llandudno, Liverpool, Manchester, and London about this. Every single person — British, Australian, hosts,hotel staffs and travellers alike — said asking for a late checkout is entirely normal, and that a guest leaving a grateful review is something hosts genuinely appreciate. No one considered it blackmail. The host also said She would have cancelled my booking had they known I wanted a late checkout. For a remote location charging £60/night — comparable to or more expensive than London — this attitude is unreasonable and deeply hurtful. I can’t help but wonder: would you have spoken to me this way if I weren’t a solo Asian female traveller? Would you have said the same thing if I were a white or local British traveller? This was by far the worst accommodation experience of my entire UK trip. Every person I told — hotel staff, other hosts, fellow travellers — reacted with disbelief and said this behaviour was werid,rude,ridiculous, incomprehensible

We were cycling ( just 2 of us; not sure there'd be room for a bigger group), and it was lovely to have a secure place to store our bikes overnight, with accessible charging for the electric one. Die Lage war super,nahe am Meer. Unser Zimmer hatte Meerblick,wunderbar! Die Gastgeber sind sehr freundlich.

Es war insgesamt alles gut,das Badezimmer war sehr eng,aber für die kurze Zeit ging das gut.
