Views of Kanchenjunga The dining area in the balcony Rooms overlooking the mountains Proximity to Pemagayatse
The view from our room and the property. Old-age charm and legacy.
The service at front desk and restaurant was cold and unfriendly. I've seen much better hospitality in 5-star hotels. Given the remote location, I expected a warmer welcome and better food. The food was a letdown. I’ve stayed in colder, more isolated parts of Sikkim that served much better meals with more variety and pleasant attitude. Basic items like room slippers were not provided. While the property has a nice vintage charm, it fails to provide the basic comfort and warmth of a luxury resort where guests spend extra to enjoy themselves.
Great location, well maintained heritage property, amazing food and great service
Heritage hotel with a view
The property is quite old and not properly maintained. There is no air conditioner and flies inside the room. The windows are broken and dust is everywhere. If you complain, they keep saying it is a heritage hotel.
Location, views, food, service and nature.
Location and view from hotel also the food was pretty tasty.
Bathroom was not up to the mark
The property is just gives a vintage charm and serenity takes one to another world.
Every thing is too good. The staff and managers were always ready to help.
The property itself and our original room was not great and not as per what we booked online then after much discussion with staff we were upgraded to a room which was in the newly constructed building
The front staff was ok
The Splendid location, the staff, the supreme comfort and cleanliness of the rooms. The brilliant views of Kanchenjunga
The breakfast spread was very limited and not too good. The food options were also limited and the capability of the chef is in question.
To be able to see Kanchenjunga from the window of the room . And a very good masseuse in the Spa
A good Location. Looks great from a distance. Nice campus. Nothing else was worth the money they charge.
Average food quality. Over rated place. Old and run down interiors. Unhelpful staff and un courtesous Head office staff. Refused genuine requests. Horrible roads to get there minimum 6 hrs drive.
The location of the hotel is excellent. One of the best places to view the mountains. It is a nicely maintained property. Both breakfast and dinner service in the restaurant were good. The staff are polite and helpful.
The lighting in the bathroom is inadequate. The bathroom doesn’t have a shaving mirror and a hand shower.
Awesome view. Friendly staff.
Food could have been better.
The price of the room was doubled last minute under the pretext that there would be an upgraded luxury suite. Upon arrival at the hotel this proved to be untrue. Instead of setting the record strait the management persisted and stuck to unkept promises. With not functioning wifi and hardly any warm water in the bathroom the hotel did not live up to the epectations.
What a place....cozy, comfortable, warm...a heritage place ...n wat view of the Kanchenjunga...one of the oldest monastery right next to the hotel...the staff are the best....amazing hospitality!!
Nothing not to like about the Elgin
Location of resort & view from room.
Room was very small in size & need interior in bathroom.According to room price was high.Specially bed was not good.It was rotating because of wheels.
The location of the hotel is superb. It is well maintained. The garden is beautiful. The property offers breath taking view of the Kanchenjunga range. The staff is extremely cordial and helpful. Food is delicious even though a little more variety would not hurt. I hope to return for a longer stay in future.
Nothing.
Location is breathtaking.
Maintenance of the rooms could have been better. Some treatments for insects.
The location, ambience and heritage charm. Peace and tranquility.
Staff needs some hospitality training. Only members who understand the hospitality are the security staff and the house cleaners.
Location & warm behavior of all staffs.
Breakfast spread was not matching with the rate.
This was our third stay at The Elgin group of hotels, the previous ones being Kolkata and Kalimpong and there is no doubt that the Elgin Pelling boasts of the best location. When yiu wake up to see the mighty Kanchenjunga, playing hide and seek as clouds block qnd reveal it's mighty presence, it is magic unfolding. The Elgin Pelling provides you just that, so much so that you can choose to stay at the hotel without heading anywhere in Pelling. What makes the stay all the more comfortable is the joyous nature of the staff, who ensure you are taken care of, the food which blew our minds away and the warmth of the entire place. Highly recommend!
Nothing that I can think of.
Perfect place to stay and have a nice dinner.
Fine
I booked it for the spa, which when I got there was closed for renovation. if I had known this I would have cancelled the booking. I was not informed in advance and would expect compensation for this since it ruined this part of my holiday. You do not expect to go to a spa hotel without a spa!
Location was good. Needed little more variety in menu selection.
Food menu and food items were very expensive.
The location and views from our room of Mount Kanchanjunga and Mount Pandim. The food and the service.
The bathroom was leaking from the ceiling which was annoying
Lovely location and views
The location!! Oh my goodness!! The location and the view of the Kanchenjunga! To compliment that was the outstanding hospitality, the quaint old world charm infused property, and the absolutely delectable cuisine and service! A dream destination!
The fact that I couldn’t stay longer!
The amazing view from the balcony next to the restaurant. The stuff was super nice and warm.
I didnt like the fact that the spa was shut for the 2 days I stayed in the hotel.
Loved everything. *Enjoyed afternoon coffee on the veranda each day*
We took half board and I would have enjoyed a few more choices that were less spicy/more 'western' type food in addition to the Indian choices. Very unfortunate that the weather was totally misty the three days we were there as we never saw the view of the mountains from the hotel
The stay is very comfortable. Very good hospitality right from check in to dinning to check out. The service is great.
Amazing staff and location. Food was also very good. Had excellent views of Mount Kanchenjagha.
Beautiful setting. Kangchenjunga view was incredible. Staff was eager to help. Food was good.
Building was rundown. Plumbing gurgled and leaked.
Excellent property – rooms, grounds, restaurant and service – with gorgeous views of the sunrise and sunset from the rooms. Staff were superb; a member of the party experienced a bad fall – without prompting, the staff did everything to make the remainder of our stay as comfortable as possible. Definitely a great place to stay.
Wonderful 1 night stay while visiting Pelling. Beautiful views of kanchenjunga mountains. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. We made great memories and the dinner and breakfast was good. Thank you for a memorable stay.
Location is the biggest pro (in case you have good weather) Staff was extremely nice!
The property is old/ historic (that‘s what you want when you book this) but for that price range i would have expected a better state (some more maintenance could not hurt, e.g. windows)
Location garden and exterior very well maintained
No air con or fans. Carpet and upholstery needs a deep clean.
Location, food and hospitality
Location is exceptional. Staff is very polite & hard working. They behave like a family member. Restaurant's staff is extraordinary & they serve their best. Interior looks heavy & make feel royal.
Property needs upgradation. This is heritage property but not meets the expectations as their tarrif is very high but facilities provided into the room are very far behind even into the bathroom there is no space for bathtub but they have provided & people need to take bath after standing into the bathtub. All the electrical switches & boards are needed to change. Even electric kettle was not working into the room. Geyser was not working so they provided one bucket hot water for bathing. Overall they charge heavy amount but facilities they provide are outdated.
Chambre agréable, belle vue sur les Himalayas, beau jardin Petit déjeuner et dîner médiocre pour une européenne qui ne mangent pas indien ! Service moyen
Worst hotel and rudest customer service in 25 years We were wrongfully charged for meals for an extra guest ! The hotel at Pelling said they couldn’t do anything abt it. So I called and emailed the Elgin main customer service at Kolkata couple of times. They were extremely rude, and hung up on me the first time, just after 3 minutes. I called hotels.com requesting a refund of the extra charges. Hotels.com agreed with us but the Elgin (Ms. Sonali) denied us any refund. I emailed the Elgin but they simply did not respond. Don’t book this hotel - we got NO view of the Kanchenjunga. Many hotels in the area falsely claim to offer views of the Kanchenjuna.
Location and staff
No travel desk.
Excellent location, old world charm & very Friendly , helpful staff
Nothing specific
Excellent location, property is beautiful and food is amazing. The chef is one of the best.
No service at all. No one came to collect the used utensils even on the next day. No refilling of water. uncomfortable bed and pillows. The pillows were so over used that it actually hurt our head to use it. Same with hotel bed. The staff is good but not trained. The hotel mascots, Coco and Cara, the samoyeds, were neglected, although there was a care taker. Obviously the care taker wasn't doing his job. All the unused food goes to waste instead of feeding the strays. Surprised to see an Oberoi group property so badly managed and run.
Nice attractive property with great views
Everything was great
The ambience, view and cleanliness
Food was average
Cleanliness of washroom
Only view from the room
We didn’t liked anything except view from the room
Exceptional views! Wonderful food and hospitality.
Location
Bed, Bathroom old furniture pillows very bed quality like local 1* smells bed.
Elgin Mount Pandim is located in a beautiful location with awesome views of the Kanchenjunga Mountains. It has spectacular views all around the property. Very well maintained property. Beautiful majestic old era rooms. Very tasty, excellent quality food. It is well worth the stay. Very close to Pemyangtse Monastery, Rabdentse Ruins and the Sky walk. We can get a beautiful sunrise veiw from Pemyangtse Monastery and the view of the reflection of the morning sun on the Kanchenjunga Mountains from Elgin Mount Pandim is breathtaking. The staff is friendly and very helpful. I had left my wallet behind in the garden with full of cash, credit cards and my ID's. The staff found it and called me to inform. The staff is honest with high integrity.

Views, Decor, garden
Bathroom and toilets below par need full revamping, staff at restaurant rarely stays engaged with diners after initial order, one has to get up and call them. Lackadaisical housekeeping. No responses to requests made on Booking.com portal though booking done thru it.
Loved the view, the flowers and the Samoyeds.
The Bathrooms need some refurbishment.
I have no words to describe the Mountain View rooms that we opted for, we could see the Kanchenjunga peaks very clearly… the resort ambience was like an British boutique hotel and the dining table set up was also so very English… some tourist spots are near by like Pemayangtse Monastery is walkable… the bird park and the Rabdentse ruins are a KM away,
nothing…
I strongly recommend this outstanding property that makes you relaxed from all of your hectic life.
Thw property has a good view and the staff are exquisite.
Not value for money. For a hotel that is priced high its facilities are lacking. Wifi is patchy and does not work when the power is out which is often. The dining area is small and the buffet spread is basic.
Efficient & courteous staff
Fresh juice was not available as an option
nothing
customer service staff is pathetic and please don’t book this hotel if you need any iota of good customer service
Breakfast was super tasty but the location is far away from the town
There should be some entertaining program in the evening so that people can enjoy.like live music or karaoke
A beautiful heritage property that is very well maintained. Has a lovely view of the kanchenjunga mountain range (unfortunately the weather wasn't conducive on the days we stayed there to enjoy the view) They have very competent and polite staff, really good food, we enjoyed all the meals we had on the property. The hotel is very cozy and clean and we thoroughly enjoyed staying there. Would definitely go back.
The spa treatment was less than subpar. Honestly docking the rating purely for this reason, their senior therapist was very insensitive, did not listen to what we wanted from our treatment, kept speaking continuously for 45mins out of a 1 hr treatment. We had clearly mentioned and also selected, a mild pressure relaxation massage, as we just wanted to unwind on our anniversary and relax. The therapist insisted on doing hard pressure, to the point that my husband was screaming from pain, after mentioning 5 times to stop and that we want to relax finally in the last 10 mins she kept quiet and followed our preference. Honestly was the least relaxing massage of our lives and was also very subpar in quality low for the price paid. The premium rooms which are new are wonderful, the only drawback is that they are a walk from the main building where the lounge and restaurant are, when it's cold being outdoors and also walking uphill is not for an aged traveller. Would be great if they can invest in a buggy as it would make a huge difference to the experience.
Good location. Goid but overpriced food.
Rooms Are not as shown in the pictures. They are small. very very small. Picturees are decieving. Please note.
amazing location and friendly staff
Food options and i feel the dogs of the property ( coco and kara ) should be taken care of better.
great in the location it is.
not enough hot water due to conservation rules. rooms not warm enough.
