Great nights sleep due to comfort of bed. Nice breakfast and dinner.
Nothing.
Great location. Comfortable lounge areas. Good breakfast.
Bedroom rather hot. Bar closed very early. Full price.
Very well maintained and atmospheric.
Old fashion charm
Didn’t eat in in evening as menu options limited and 2or 3 courses with a lot of extra cost on supplements for some of the meals
Our stay was simply wonderful. The room was comfortable, breakfast excellent, staff wonderful.
Nothing
great location
difficult stairs
Lovely people Old world service and charm Great breakfast Fantastic location and on site parking - a big plus in Aldeburgh
Housekeeping needs improvement We had issues with our first room due to there being dirty room service food plates in 2 drawers We were moved immediately with no fuss to an upgraded room which was greatly appreciated However my wife then found a used shower cap in the bathroom
The free upgrade was amazing Everything was very high standard
Celebrated our wedding Anniversary here at the Wentworth with a totally wonderful meal at lunchtime, just love this place, the warm Ambience, the food is delicious and first class service. Everyone at the Hotel should be Very proud of themselves. A credit to Aldeburgh and Suffolk. We will be returning in October for lunch with all our Family . looking forward to it
We stayed one night in Darfield House, the annexe to the Wentworth situated immediately behind the hotel. Our room 51 was large with comfortable beds, a very good sized bathroom with shower and bath and lots of shelf space for one's own toiletries. Good storage provided in cupboards situated in the lobby to the room and good facilities for making hot drinks. Decor is modern and unobtrusive. Bonus was a charming garden with seating just outside our window. Very, very quiet. Breakfast in the main hotel, which is in a much more olde world chintzy style, was waiter service only but good. The position of the hotel on the beachfront is of course wonderful with easy access to everything that lovely Aldeburgh has to offer. Free parking in hotel car park was appreciated. We were very happy in the annexe and would stay there again in preference to the main building.
We stayed in Darfield House, the annexe to the hotel immediately behind the main building. Very good sized modern room with comfortable beds, large bathroom with shower and bath and lots of space for own toiletries. Hanging cupboard and another cupboard with shelves situated in entrance hall of the room. Kettle and all hot drink facilities.Bonus was the small garden outside our window. Very quiet indeed.
Possibly having a buffet at breakfast would have been better than all waiter service. Main hotel felt a little old-fashioned and stuffy but I think a lot of people like it that way. We preferred the annexe.
We had the most enjoyable birthday break. Spotlessly clean, nothing too much trouble, breakfast was perfect and Ruth you went above and beyond. Thank you, we shall be back.
Confortable lounges, helpful staff
Bed was very comfortable. Staff when we checked in were super friendly and helpful. Breakfast staff were also fantastic. Breakfast was very tasty. Location is fantastic right on the beach and off the high street. Free parking.
Lady checking us out was very frosty, almost like we were an inconvenience to her day. Paid extra for a sea view room, was on first floor over looking a flat roof so was nervous to have the window open.
Comfortable and brilliant location
Dining room could have been a little more modern/casual
We had a lovely stay earlier this year. Comfortable rooms, plenty of space in the lounges to relax, and excellent food. The real standout was the friendly and helpful staff. From assisting with my mobility scooter, to helping out with lost property, there was a kind approach with a personal touch that really made it a special break.
We have stayed at The Wentworth several times over many years, and it is without doubt, our favourite U.K. hotel. We have enjoyed consistently good food, friendly, helpful staff and comfortable rooms during this time.
The Wentworth is a lovely hotel in an absolutely perfect location by the sea.
But at £375 our room was very poor value. It was a tiny bedroom, the bathroom was tired with no separete shower, and the room was unliveable in in the morning when the sun shone in as it had no air conditioning, We realised that part of the premium relates to it having a sea view, which it does, but half the view is in fact of a flat roof with puddles of water on it and bits of rubbish, more depressing than elevating.
We had a lovely evening meal - the prawns for starters were delicious. And so nice to be given bread - so many restaurants have started to charge for this. Breakfast was also very good. We particularly enjoyed the dog friendly ethos of the hotel, although check-in could be slightly earlier.
Staff welcoming. Cost £367/night for room and breakfast. Never been in such an expensive hotel , so had extremely high expectations. Room 12 first floor -Seaview but otherwise fairly unremarkable. Above outside seating area - noisy until 10pm. Clean and comfortable, Breakfast good but not exceptional. So if you want old fashioned charm and good service and are prepared to pay about £300 - this is the place for you. I left disappointed…..thus the average rating.
Comfortable room and excellent breakfast with large choice of cooked main courses including kippers and haddock. Nice cosy bar. Plenty of areas to sit in the lounges. We liked the old style of the hotel. Very attentive staff.
No lift which didn't bother us but may be more of a problem for those even older than us!
The setting overlooking the sea and beach. The restaurant with a varied menu every night, breakfasts are good as well.Everything served, no buffet.
Could do with a little refurbishment.
Friendly female receptionist. Good breakfast.
Almost £300 for a tiny pokey room at the back. As you enter the room you hit the door on the closet in the room and spill your drink because the door cannot open fully as you expect. Bed is too small and uncomfortable. This room is so small you cannot easily walk around the bed. It is not fit for 2 persons. Very hot with no A/C. When you open the small windows there are wasps everywhere on the ivy growth coming into windows. Gin and tonic was served with very little ice and no lemon! When we asked for lemon we were given a quarter of very thin slice ! The beach in the location is not nice. We did not like the experience at all. 2 stars due to very overpriced inadequate room.
Excellent position, facing the sea at Aldeburgh. A classic comfortable hotel in a traditional style. It suites the mature clientele . Breakfast was waiter service and was excellent.. Lots of lounges to relax in and outdoor seating.
No lift so quite difficult carrying a case to the second floor. There was a inexperienced young man who apparently was a porter. No safe in the room. No magnifying mirror in the bathroom or robes or slippers which for the £290 price we paid I would have expected. We only had black tea or instant coffee and had to ask for green tea bags. Not unusual to find a variety of tea bags in hotels. nowadays.
Location, nice historic building
Very pricey for the value received. The check-in did not properly inform us on all the relevant details, eg that the optional newspaper delivery costs extra.
Great location, lovely staff. The food was great with really good breakfast served at your table.
The shower over the bath.
Absolutely loved this gem of a hotel. So comfortable and stylish. Just loved relaxing in the very cosy and chic lounge areas and bar. The quality of this hotel is everywhere. I loved the fact the little touches… in our bedroom the hair dryer came with an extension cable so you could be sure you could dry your hair infront of a mirror. Very nicely appointed bathroom. Also fabulous breakfast and great service and a lovely bar. 100% recommended. We will come back!
Clean and beautiful
Position and rooms
Such a wonderful hotel, fabulous large lounge areas with super decor and comfortable little nooks everywhere. Really most enjoyable. The breakfast staff were brilliant. Loved everything.
Our room was a tad small but the bathroom was amazing, everything was high quality.
My husband and I took my mother in law to Aldeburgh to celebrate her birthday. We had lunch on the lovely relaxing terrace of the Wentworth hotel. The food was fresh and delicious and all the staff were super friendly and efficient. Special thanks to the young man I think his name was Will for being kind enough to take some photos of the occasion. Highly recommend sitting on the terrace of the Wentworth Hotel in the sunshine eating delicious fresh seafood, although there is a good menu with plenty of choice for all tastes.
Large comfortable en suite room with sofa. It was very clean and well equipped
Location. Clean room and comfortable bed. Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast.
We think the bathroom smelt a bit damp. Wondered if there might be a leak somewhere, but didn’t notice anything? Meant to tell reception as we left, but sorry, we forgot! We have stayed in that bedroom before and didn’t notice anything previously.
I loved the homely feel of this Hotel. The staff were truly exceptional very kind and accommodating. I had two dogs with me and I didn’t feel that they were a problem at all.
There are quite a few steps. This is not a problem for me, but I thought I should mention it as if you have a mobility issue that should be noted. There isn’t a lift in the hotel.
Position and staff
Nothing
Fabulous location on the seafront. The public areas are spacious and very comfortable. Food is excellent. A superb choice of individually prepared dishes at breakfast in a calm and charming restaurant. Much old world quality but with modern facilities, eg en-suite shower room.
The bedroom was a little cramped. There were 2 chairs but it would have been nice to have had room for a small table too. Understandably it is an old building and space has been taken from the original room to incorporate the essential shower room. It was disappointing not to have been able to access the public areas including the restaurant for a large part of one of our days there, due to a private booking.
Great location. Good breakfast.
Expensive for a small room
Position is excellent, out of the centre but still on the seafront. Food at breakfast excellent. Furnishings are relaxing and inviting.
Our room was too hot and A/C was not working. There was a horrible smell in the area of the bed which was very noticeable. The tea and coffee facilities were very dated, as no coffee machine and no herb type or alternative teas. We were shown to a table for breakfast but then waited ages ( apologies were given) , and again, no fresh coffee option. Seagulls extremely noisy all night and we had to have windows open to cool down.
The location was superb and the hotel was the cleanest we have visited for a very long time. Nice toiletries and the room was beautiful All of the staff were very friendly and approachable nothing felt like it was too much trouble.
Loved everything so nothing I would like to see changed
Lovely views and nice walks.
Perfect Hotel
Nothing
Good size room and good location
No aircon. Mind you this was hottest June for years Also dinner menu a bit limited.
Location, facilities, lovely modern bedrooms.
Excellent location , hotel immaculate lovely dining facilities and parking available
Meals and staff where lovely
Room was cramped and right above entrance door so was quite noisy and step in and out of bathroom was very high for us oap’s the stairs were bad enough!
Waiting Staff were a bit casual ; dinner service was slow.
Eight of us stayed for a birthday celebration at the end of May. The service was excellent, rooms clean and comfortable, food delicious. The Wentworth Hotel is like the warm hug you didn’t know you needed. We will be back.
Staff in the dining room were very good especially Sophie
Far too expensive for what it offers
Wonderful location and atmosphere. A traditional old fashioned hotel in the best possible way with really great food and top notch service. Comfortable bedrooms and cosy bar area. Lots of places to relax in the hotel reception rooms. A beautiful garden to enjoy a drink outside or dine al fresco. The bar menu is especially good.
The only criticism would be the vegetation sausage at breakfast, the quality of this item didn’t reflect the high standards of the food served in the other meals.
Perfect location with roadside and waterfront access. Convenient private parking - staff were very helpful with pram and baby Lovely breakfast in a well decorated and atmospheric room
The location is perfect. The staff are helpful and friendly. It is comfortable and clean. A real treat
We absolutely love The Wentworth, visited many times. The staff are exceptional, helpful, pleasant and professional. They work extremely hard to make it look effortless. The hotel, is comfortable, fresh flowers everywhere, well thought out comfortable seating areas and beautifully decorated rooms. Food is plentiful and of very good quality Would definitely recommend five stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Terrace and garden
Noise from birds all night. Lots of flies in bedroom and all public areas
The customer service was exceptional - the staff were friendly, welcoming and accommodating. They responded to queries quickly and with grace. Huge thanks to all who were working so hard serving breakfasts and evening drinks with a smile and a kind word.
Lovely reception staff. Loved having a sea view upgrade.
Common areas a bit dated. Would prefer a breakfast buffet. Coffee not great.
Location was amazing.
Small rooms for the price.
Love this hotel, has'nt changed over the years besides the prices as you would expect. Old school charm and service.
We enjoyed excellent food and service. Our room was superb,as usual. The staff are very attentive and professional.
We spent a night bed and breakfast at the Wentworth and loved it. Our room wasn't large but was extremely comfortable and beautifully decorated. The bathroom was super modern with the best shower. The quality of the bedding plus the furniture throughout the building was excellent with lovely colours. We immediately felt relaxed and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. Hope to come back soon .
Great location, friendly staff, very comfortable room and lounge areas and breakfast was lovely. I can’t fault this stay it was excellent.
Nothing
The Wentworth Hotel is always very relaxing, staff vey helpful , nothing too much trouble.Beautifully appointed.Food very good.
No
The room allocated on booking.com (as always) wasn't the best choice (small and on 4th floor) but the hotel offered us a better room , same price on ground floor with sea view with a freshly refurbed bathroom. We really liked the traditional elements of the hotel: full breakfast served at the table, lots of comfortable sofas in the lounges, friendly staff always on hand - we've tried most of the hotel accommodation in and around Aldeburgh and this is our favourite
It was all good
A beautiful hotel and the seafront right outside the front door. A very extensive breakfast menu and plenty of options for all tastes. The same can be said for dinner and the standard of food exceptional. With regards to staff I have nothing but admiration for them. You were made to feel really welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. They were kind, considerate and very friendly and certainly made our stay a very relaxing one. There’s so much more of a positive nature I could tell you about, but go there yourself and experience what my wife and I shared. Lastly, the town and resort of Aldeburgh is typically and quintessentially English, with a high street of many cafes and small independent retailers. I think I’ll be back. Thank you all at the Wentworth Hotel.
Another extremely enjoyable stay. The food was excellent, the staff are efficient but personable and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The sea view rooms are lovely and comfortable with uninterrupted views over the pebble beach and sea.
Thanks again for father's birthday meal. The arrangements were handled seamlessly as we expected from past experience. We will visit again soon later in May and no doubt will be more than satisfied again. Excellent as usual.
Another great stay at the Wentworth. Very welcoming with great communal areas and fabulous food. A very enjoyable stay.
Another wonderful stay at this iconic hotel. We may be amongst the youngest there (ha ha) but the hotel is pretty faultless. It’s always perfectly clean, friendly and helpful staff and the food is great. This was about our sixth stay and we will keep going back as long as it stays as it is. Don’t want to say too much and make it too popular, otherwise, I might not get booked in!
Perfect selection on menu. Sea view made breakfast very special.
As I have a mobility problem would have liked the hotel to have a lift.
The hotel was charming as were the staff . It is very dog friendly and Rufus also gave it five stars . The evening meal was surprisingly good with varied menus . We had a large bedroom with a small bt comfy sitting room overlooking the sea . We had breakfast onthe terrace and nothing was too much trouble .zThe only downside was that the gulls pooped on my newly cleaned car but hey we were at the seaside!,
Location was great. Comfortable, very clean room with lots of storage. Needed the electric fan supplied. Good quality toiletries in bathroom. Liked you could turn on shower with button at sink before you got in. Tasty sausage at breakfast. Log burner in bar in evening was great as got chilly.
Didnt need to change the towels every day, which they did. Thought bit wasteful. Evening bar man seemed bit miserable & needs some customer service training. Cooked breakfast bit average. 2 of our poached eggs were over & under done.
Everything
The photograph of the room when I booked made the room look much bigger than it actually was and also a different room.
Wunderbar "altmodisch" mit viel Flair, sehr gute Lage, gut renoviertes Zimmer und freundlicher Service.
Zimmer recht klein, steile Treppe
breakfast was very nice and the staff were excellent
very traditional hotel so doubt any upgrades are being considered
Location , cleanliness, decor, food and staff
Nothing
Dinner. Tea in the lounge. Nice bathroom. Very nice general decor. Amazing breakfast.
Many stairs to climb to get to our room. We are in our late 70’s so not ideal and there’s no lift. Room slightly on the small side.
Old fashioned type of seaside property - well run and friendly
Nothing
Popped in here for a tea/coffee on a windy day and was pleasantly surprised. Lovely large sofas in a very comfy huge room. Lovely service and really lovely coffee. They also allow dogs which is fab.
Beautiful building, great location
Very formal
Location amazing , lovely service , beautiful room with view , dog friendly . All in all our favourite place
Everything about our 3-night Dinner, Bed & Breakfast stay in a large sea-view room in this charming and traditional hotel was exceptional.
Location perfect, room comfy, great barroom, delicious breakfast. Glorious!!
The bedroom was incredibly hot and wasn’t easy to turn down the temperature anywhere. Not many staff around to grab a drink in the bar mid afternoon.
Another fantastic stay. We have been coming here for nearly twenty years and every time we stay we have an amazing time. From the warm welcome to the perfect rooms and the amazing food in the evening, this is quite possibly the best hotel I have ever stayed in. We would like to thank all of the staff for such a lovely stay. Please don’t change a thing the formula you gave is perfect. Can’t wait until we visit again. Well done and thank you so much to everyone for make our stay perfect.
The location was perfect, the rooms were spacious and clean plus the staff were exceptional.

Nice room and ensuite, very clean and well equiped. Very good breakfast. Great location with off road parking. Friendly helpful staff.
Nothing
Breakfast and dinner great
Welcoming staff, comfortable lounges with LOTS of places to sit and chat, great dinners within the hotel. Very good quality sleep was had by all and a very quiet room (11) - will stay again sometime. Full marks Wentworth there was NO piped music anywhere !!!
The young staff were very good apart from basic hygiene- please train them not to put their fingers around the rims of teacups and glasses when serving drinks. Also perhaps serving the ladies first when dealing with us oldies (generation thing no doubt).
Comfortable and clean
Parking lines unidentifiable No discount on meals as residents
Really enjoyed our two night stay here. We had a sea facing room which was bright with a modern bathroom. Breakfast was fantastic, great choice and well presented. We also enjoyed reading in the lounge in the afternoon and a pre dinner drink in the bar. Friendly and welcoming staff - we will return!
Great location with a very comfy bed. We had a sea view room which made the stay special. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Breakfast with our small, well behaved dog felt a little ostracising as we were seated on our own in the bar area at the back of the hotel where the tables were too small. I thought the restaurant area looked so much more inviting and wondered if a part of that room could be allocated for guests with dogs to use. It would feel more inclusive and be more in line with their claims to be a dog friendly hotel.
The service was second to none. Breakfast and dinner were also very high quality. The whole family, including our mid-20s children thoroughly enjoyed their stay.
Breakfast and Dinner menu choices were very good and tasty and the service was friendly and helpful and prompt!
We like to sleep with an open window, this was not possible to achieve while maintaining security. This is just a nit pick.
Always a warm reception and often see the same people each time we visit, people of a like mind who appreciate the Wentworth and all it has to offer .. and definitely our “go-to” preference! Traditional Hospitality and Caring Staff. This year we were particularly impressed by the increased choice on the menu with a daily specials menu covering all three courses, and a separate menu for Vegetarians is also offered covering all three courses. Whichever menu you choose the food is of excellent quality and good portion size to enable three courses to be enjoyed without excess. Cleanliness, Atmosphere and a low noise level are all appreciated, the location can not be bettered and parking is available on site. Our thanks to all the staff for another memorable four day break!
Lovely hotel and staff who went to extra care.
Clean and comfortable with lively decor and old style charm
It's like stepping back in time. Such lovely friendly service. Beautiful views. Lovely original decor.
