Food was of a good standard. The Guinness pie was a 10/10. Staff were very friendly. A quirky venue. No car park fees which makes a pleasant change.
Nothing to complain about really. The room was clean, but the shower area could do with a good bleaching.
Stayed here for a wedding so the location was perfect. The room was a good size and had a mini fridge, coffee machine and some toiletries provided. Help was offered by reception to carry luggage upstairs due to no lift to the first floor.
The bathroom would benefit from some deeper cleaning. Additional storage for clothing would be beneficial as we only had a closet with very few hangers. We also couldn’t keep the sash windows open (not sure if user error or if they just don’t stay open?)
Great location and nice grounds. The stables food was delicious
We had a suite very disappointing the bathroom door not closing and room desperately in need of updating
Location and convenience
Missing items in room. Tea , spoons and milk and not enough towels for two people.
Beautiful location Beautiful building Attentive & friendly staff Comfortable bed very large room had a bath in the bathroom Proper pizza oven for there homemade pizzas good food
decor needs some TLC chairs, curtains and carpet didn’t go together which is minor but would make a big difference to presentation
Nothing
I’ve been to concerts quieter than the room. It was supposed to be an upgraded room and it was hard to have a conversation let alone sleep. The band were competent but I may as well have been offered a sleeping bag under the bar. The room was bleak and the bathroom horribly mouldy. We left after 15 minutes. The person on the desk was unapologetic and rude.
Wanted a place to stay near Nirvana SPA - lovely hotel nearby
All good bathroom was very large
Quiet
Dinner average
It was a beautiful building, lovely grounds and close to a park and sports facilities. The restaurant is charming and the food is excellent.
Rooms could have been a bit cleaner ie cobwebs on ceiling and the shower hose was full of limescale.
2 single beds put together, with a gap in the middle
Location was stunning
The cobbled stones hard to walk on with the shoes had on for the wedding
Location and service
Could not open windows
Breakfast was very good, plenty of choices and cooked to order.
Disabled so could not get over lip to shower, however bedroom very good to move wheel chair around.
The staff were amazing polite friendly and very helpful The outdoor facilities were good had a lovely breakfast . Shady parking most of the time. The staff looked after my refrigerated bone medication and cool packs.
The double classics £140 a night at weekend were way too small and our room on second floor was a sauna through the day . The desk top fan did very little. It was a very hot weekend but as we booked 3 nights months agony for our daughter’s wedding, a room on the lower level might have been a more thoughtful application of room . We couldn’t change room till Sunday by which time we packed up and went home due to lack of sleep it was simply too hot at night in a tiny room and skin issues. It was hard trying to fit in our belongings into storage. We simply booked the wrong room for a 3 night stay but be prepared the cost at weekend is expensive peak rate. If you want a cooler room book a deluxe on ground floor way in advance as long as you don’t mind the bin storage area being close by . You will get shade from trees in room 24 which I am pleased to say our USA visitors were in. In cooler weather this hotel would have been so much better it’s not the hotels fault we have such hot weather. We should have asked to change room but had to get to venue to set up and there was another wedding party staying. I was sad to leave our USA friends a day early . In all fairness The hotel did offer us a different room but we declined due to being packed up to go home. Check the room size before you book this pretty hotel in a quiet location with lovely staff. I ve tried to be fair reviewing this hotel the weather isn’t their fault.
The staff were excellent without exception. They worked hard and and answered all our queries with politeness and efficiency.
The whole place is a bit tired. It needs renovating. Whilst the staff were excellent, the hotel needs sprucing up.
The staff were incredibly helpful and super friendly. Maria in the restaurant was fantastic and very accommodating when 15 of us appeared unannounced for breakfast. She had us all seated and sorted in no time! Thank you so much!
Bed is very nice, had a good sleep and parking is easy
No still water in room just sparkling and shower head, only half the water comes out, alot of the holes were blocked as didnt work
Wie kann dieses Hotel solch eine Bewertung haben Einfach furchtbar
Room upgrade was much appreciated after long day at business events. Staff very polite, professional and accommodating.
N/A
The location.
The room was poorly equipped for the price. There was no air conditioning, fan or fridge, making it very uncomfortable in the warm weather. The two small bottles of water in the room were chargeable at £25, which felt excessive. I was also charged £50 for a Z-bed that was never provided. Although I was promised a refund, I was still waiting for it five days later. In addition, there were spiders and insects in the room due to the lack of insect screens. Overall, I felt the hotel offered poor value for money.
Venue is beautiful, room facilities very good, wedding lovely
We weren't informed there would be a football screening on the lawn directly outside our room. There were hundreds of people gathered there, and the noise continued into the early hours, which had a significant impact on our stay. Had we known in advance, we would have requested a different room. On checkout I gave feedback to staff and was promised contact from management but haven't received this despite chasing. It was a huge oversight not to inform paying guests they would be kept up past 0100, but I suppose they made enough money from the event not to bother.
Breakfast was lovely.
We paid a large amount of money for 4 nights in a junior suite for a bit of comfort and relaxation but the first room they put us in before moving us to a better room was disgusting. It was shabby, smelly needed refurbishing and definitely not worth the money. The bathroom was awful and the shower unit was rusty and had mould on the walls. The sofa was stained all over and the carpet was sticky.
My room was excellent ! Really spacious !
Room didn’t meet expectations
A good clean
The location was amazing. Rooms were a little tired but reasonably sized, bed comfortable. Staff were very welcoming.
Exceptionally tall mirror in the bathroom.
So ein schönes Hotel. Schade, dass wir so spät ankamen und früh abreisen mussten.
Nichts
Lots of character and peaceful location.
Lacks air conditioning and decoration a bit dated
Convenient location, good restaurant/bar. Staff were super helpful
Decor was dated. Every time we wanted to log into netflix on our TV we had to get the router rebooted in reception. Town centre was disappointing
deluxe room fantastic breakfast lovely staff
nothing
Good sized room/food very good/facilities good/decent location
Interior a little tired in places
The bedroom was very lovely
Felt that their priority was events rather than guests paying £160/ night. Restaurant was shut for a wedding even though I had asked two days before if I could book at any time and was told yes. The open air football event finished at 12.30 am and I was kept awake until 2.30 am with staff tidying up and slamming doors. Needs a bit of a spruce up as the hotel and grounds felt very tired and run down.
Quiet and comfortable room, good dinner in the stables with friendly staff. Tasty breakfast including good gluten free options
It's a little tired in places and the location is not that convenient. Also there seems to be a very large charge on bottles of water in the room which are usually given as complimentary in other hotels. Having said that I would stay again
How a place can be
The room was very spacious and well presented, all the usual tea, coffee making bath and shower options as listed. The views are exceptional as are the well kept grounds and surrounding parks.
I was there on the hottest recorded day of the summer, whilst the room had a fan which helped immensely, this is one time I would have benefitted from air conditioning.
The staff very friendly and helpful the food in the Stables very good rooms comfortable and pleased we had a fan. England match on so hotel noisy until 11 30. A convenient location equa distance for us and relatives to meet
The way the bill was prepared but was soon sorted by hotel staff
Lovely big room
Needed aircon
Always a good stay and lovely reception staff
Nothing I can think off
Proximity to Ascot (there for the races). The beautiful building and grounds. Comfortable bed, fan in room, balcony. Tasty breakfast.
Room and stairs leading to it clearly not dusted or vacuumed in some time. £25 for a bottle of water in the room. Price inflated due to Ascot event.
I’ve been coming here during Royal Ascot for a number of views. I like it for its location. It is calm, I like the light bright room, and I like being able to walk across the gardens and into Wokingham.
It’s pretty tired and shabby nowadays. The bathroom isn’t very well lit. The mirrors aren’t great. The chest of drawers had been moved out of my room so I was living out of my bags for five days. That is poor for a hotel that costs this much. I was given one glass. One cup. It was all pretty basic. The wardrobe too is pretty puny and the don’t-steal-me hangers are not much good either.
Location was ok.
Dated property with poorly furnished rooms. Bathrooms weren’t the cleanest, noise insulation was poor and beds/pillows were not comfortable. Breakfast was also poor, with inexperienced staff and lack of menu choice for drinks.
Beautiful property, peaceful location, lovely staff
Nothing!
Ideal location for Ascot and Windsor
Bathroom would benefit from electric shaver point and lighting . Spots above do not provide appropriate light in mirror.
Good value for money, good location and very comfortable room.
Comfortable bed and shower
Unfriendly staff cold rooms not able to charge to the room expensive bar average food The place could do with a make over
Bedroom was fine.
A bit tired. Staff amateur. No staff on the reception desk to check out resulting in embarrassing phone call to settle outstanding bill. All very Fawlty Tours....
Loved the age and style. Wonderfully quiet. Beautiful property and gardens accessible from the room.
Nothing although the bed was on the hard side, and I like a hard bed. For one night it was fine and I did sleep well. The 24 hour reception was not about at 23:30 with ringing 3 times. Had to get up and find someone.
The food was excellent and staff were very nice. Also, it had abundant parking.
Exceptional service from start to finish. Delicious dinner and breakfast. Beautiful grounds and a very comfortable room.
We hadden een mooie grote kamer Nr 1 met een heerlijk balkon
Alles was perfect
Comfortable Bed 🛌
Spa not working Hot 🥵 in Room NO Air Con
Location and staff
Very tired hotel in need of refurbishment- dated rooms. My room had stains on the walls, stains on the furniture- although the bed was clean and comfortable
Location great and breakfast was plentiful
Rooms need a makeover as it was a touch dated.
Nice room,
Food a bit over cooked, the worst burgers i have ever had, very long waiting time to be serviced at the breakfast
Venue, facilities location and staff
I was awoken twice during the night in the early hours after midnight by someone operating a vacuum cleaner in or around the room immediately above my bedroom. The response from the night porter was not encouraging requesting that I again called him when the noise started so he could locate the noise? Surely, this could not be a great? But another member of staff preparing a room. Very disappointing, frustrating and tiring 😫
Lovely building and grounds. Large room and bathroom. Both clean. Tea and coffee available. Tv. Large comfy bed. Staff friendly. Food in The Stables superb.
Nothing.
A nice country hotel, we had a great room with a large balcony and it was good value for money. Breakfast was great as was the pub on site. Would stay there again.
It was a little run down.
The hotel is in lovely grounds All staff i encountered were polite and friendly The room was a big size Nice restaurant and outside courtyard
Carpet in wedding room poor in places,I actually caught my heel on it at one point (front left by window) Some other areas of carpet were tired and noticeable tears can be seen Tiled floor in corridor was cracked and some loose bits unfortunately let the aestetic down Bathroom floor grout needs repair by bath room 45
A lovely, very spacious room in an attractive building. Breakfast was served in a separate but equally stylish building and offered an excellent selection of food.
Size of rooms. Lovely grounds. Breakfast & best of all very pleasant staff.
Quiet location. Big rooms
Bar shut at 8:30 on Sunday
Lovely hotel, room very clean and comfortable bed. Good value for money.
Nothing
Room and breakfast excellent.
Lovely and great lication
Not much
Friendly staff and convenient for my needs
A little chilly in the rooms even though the heating was on
Beautiful location, comfortable room, great breakfast.
Bel hôtel bien équipé avec un restaurant de qualité que ce soit pour le petit déjeuner ou le dîner
The staff where absolutely amazing. We had the most diligent service staff who looked after our room, it was cleaned everyday and they were so considerate! The front receptionist was an absolute delight, he was incredibly helpful and kind. The facilities where well kept and we felt completely relaxed! One of the best weekend get-away's we've ever had. What a relief! The connected restaurants food and service where also a delight. The room was incredibly spacious.
It would have been useful to have more information about arranging dinner at the local restaurant through the hotel ahead of time. We were informed by the restaurant that we were entitled to a discount which was great to find out! But would have helped planning ahead of time. The hot tub buttons didn't always work/ respond/ allow us to use all the functions. This could maybe do with some testing.
My room was simply splendid. I have never spent a night in a bigger hotel bed room. The en-suite bathroom was bigger than most hotel rooms I have slept in. The facilities in the bedroom were exceptional. The breakfast was superb, with a huge range of options. I chose the Eggs Benedict, which was marvellous. I would recommend this hotel to everyone wishing to stay in he Aldershot and Sandhurst area.
Nothing.
Location and immediate surrounds.
Some decor a little tired but did not detract from stay
Location, 20 min pleasant walk to centre of Wokingham, park setting. Car parking
The main hotel misses out on having a central comfy bar and seating area for guests to relax in, the entrance area interior is quite odd and unwelcoming. Lots of closed doors and remnants of meetings/events on a corridor leading from reception. At the end of the corridor is a door to the outdoor with a few steps and across an outdoor event area to a bar which is open til 10ish, early for a hotel and drinks are expensive.
Great location and very good food.
Dated, poor staff communication and manners, dated and uncomfortable beds. Miscommunication on the £50 deposit as stated on the sign on desk. Reception unmanned most of the time.
Lovely hotel excellent value fantastic staff. Great Breakfast.
Nothing
Quite and staff were around to serve drinks late in evening Excellent choices for freshly cooked breakfasts.
a beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting
Nothing
Great location, lovely warm welcome late in the evening after a nearby wedding, nothing was too much trouble for the reception staff especially when a member of our party was taken ill. A special thank you to Jerome for his kindness and efficiency- really appreciated. Our room was lovely - large and comfortable, with a modern bathroom, and a comfortable bed. Breakfast service from Annabelle was also excellent - she was working a very busy shift but was so efficient and professional as well as being 100% attentive
Breakfast was great but proper coffee would have made it even better.
Lovely location with garden and park. Beautiful hotel and The stables were a great food location. Good to see a bible in the room. Overall it was clean.
Inside things looked tired and worn. Our showered head and tab hadn’t been cleaned properly for a while and the shower head should ideally be replaced. Otherwise the bathroom was nice and clean.
Loved the hotel and gardens and the staff were lovely
The bathroom in our room was not very clean- the grout on shower was black in places and needs attention
Not really
Fabulous room, with sunken jacuzzi bath.
Dirty bathroom and dusty toilets in the restaurant.
Everything - beautiful building, lovely grounds, warm welcome on arrival, our room was superb, excellent breakfast. Amazing value for money.
Nothing - it was all great !

Service
8.9/10Staff are frequently described as polite, professional and helpful with thoughtful upgrades; however there are service lapses (promised refunds/contact not followed up, noisy event handling) that reduced consistency.
Location
9.4/10Location repeatedly praised as excellent, peaceful and convenient for the venue and town, often cited as a strong positive.
Room Quality
7.4/10Mixed room quality: some guests had spacious, comfortable or upgraded rooms, while others reported tired, shabby or poorly maintained rooms and bathrooms needing refurbishment.
Amenities
6.9/10Several amenity issues reported: lack of air conditioning/fridge, no insect screens, inconsistent in-room supplies (water), occasional tech problems (TV/router) and restaurant closures for events.
Value for Money
6.6/10Multiple guests explicitly called out poor value (unexpected charges for water and Z-bed, overpriced for what was delivered); a few felt it was acceptable for a short stopover but value is generally questioned.
Food and Beverage
9.4/10Breakfast and food receive consistently strong praise (described as lovely/fantastic); occasional issues when restaurant closed for events but F&B is overall a highlight.
Overall Experience
9.4/10Overall stays are mixed but often positive: guests enjoyed breakfasts, location, and friendly staff or upgrades, though disruptive events, cleanliness and amenity shortfalls noticeably impacted some stays.
