Nice, big rooms. Quiet in spite of being located in the main road into town.

A bit dated decoration.

Wonderful and welcoming host. Upgraded us to a superior room which was lovely Newly decorated and spotless. Explained parking and local sites. He couldn't do enough. Invited us to call back in once we had checked out if we needed anything. Brilliant. Lovely breakfast too.

The manager and his all his staff were excellent. The location is good in town centre. The bed was comfy and we also enjoyed the breakfast.

The location was brilliant, very central and easy to find. The breakfast was good and the room comfortable...with a lovely view of the church. Great value for money.

It was all good...nothing not to like. Better parking on site would have been a bonus but there is a car park very close by which isn't expensive.

Staff were superb throughout the hotel. Attentive, friendly and efficient. Bar was great, fine choice of drinks. Good food in the bar, very good breakfast - knowledgeable and effective in dealing with our gluten free needs. Room was spacious and clean, bed very comfortable, bathroom was modern, clean, worked well.

Unfortunately our stay was during a very hot spell and despite the ceiling fan, the room was very hot and uncomfortable to sleep in.

Very hot room but it was a 30 degree day. However they supplied a fan and iced bottled water to help.

The staff were lovely, especially the young ladies on reception, breakfast. They were friendly, smiley and were a credit to the hotel. Fans were provided in the rooms due to hot weather, extra iced water was available FOC at reception. Free parking on site. Would recommend 👌

Noise from the road but that's because I had the window wide open because it was an exceptionally hot night!

Offered free parking on arrival , it was first come first served. We had b and b, breakfast was lovely, we also had an Evening meal on day of arrival, I had scampi and chips , partner had chicken pie and chips , both very nice, would stay again if were in area , very good value for money. It was a heatwave and there was fan on on entering the room which was very welcome .

Our bedroom (room 5) window opened directly level with roof terrace. which was an eating and smoking area . The room smelt of smoke on arrival, people sat on our windowsill . also it was noisy until 11pm on a friday night in july, and as it was a heatwave , we had the window open and had to turn tv up quite a bit to hear it. When we told them they did move the benches away from our window and put a sign on saying not to sit on windowsill.

Have stayed here a number of times and return here every year. It is welcoming, comfortable and in an excellent location for visiting Devizes and the local area. There is a regular, reliable bus service. The hotel breakfast is excellent, allowing you to choose each day what you will want and service is excellent.

There was nothing I didn't like

In room 15, great views overlooking the church yard, and with plenty of space to spread out. In this heatwave the ceiling fan was a genius choice. The staff were wonderful, helpful and always happy to help.

Breakfast was nice. Location was very convenient for where I needed to be. Room was very comfy, and the facilities were excellent.

Though the room was lovely, it was a bit hot (though not fault of the hotel). The fans were good to a certain extent, though air conditioning would have been more ideal.

Being on the main road in exceptionally hot weather was not ideal but the staff did their best with fans to ameliorate the situation.

The team were super helpful. The bed was comfy, and I loved the view at the back of the hotel. The ceiling fan was fantastic as the weather was horribly hot. Supplied bottled water such a thoughtful touch. Thank you. Toiletries lovely. Breakfast was lovely and the young lady looking after the breakfast room was super kind and friendly and helpful. Takes a lot to keep that up when the weathers so hot. Thank you.

Nothing that the hotel could do anything about. The only thing I didn’t like was busy road outside. Everything else was lovely.

Staff were lovely. Due to extreme heat there was a free supply of ice cold bottled water. Breakfast was lovely and staff very attentive, offering extras if required. Good size room, very clean and comfortable.

We visited in an extreme heatwave and whilst there was a ceiling fan, a form of air conditioning would have reduced the heat in the room which was 31° overnight. We do appreciate that this is a big ask in English hotels ! Situated on a very busy main road with traffic noise all through the night.

Our stay was great. No complaints at all. Lovely big room and the hotel is very conveniently placed for exploring the town. Friendly service and excellent food, perfect for a few days break.

Noise from busy road outside especially as we are used to a silent neighbourhood! But this is no reflection on Castle Hotel since an old coaching inn is expected to be on the main road!!

Das Zimmer war knapp bemessen, aber für 2 Übernachtungen als Zwischenstopp passend. Dusche-WC neu, sauber, völlig okay. Frühstücksraum ist groß und mit schönem alten Mobiliar. Der Service war sehr freundlich und aufmerksam, der Kaffee wurde auf Wunsch nachgeschenkt. Der Gastraum war urig und das Bier der örlichen Brauerei Wadworth schmeckte auch! Da Fußball-WM war, kamen wir abends auch mit den Devizern ins Gespräch. Das Haus liegt im Stadtzentrum, ein öffentlicher Parkplatz ist gegenüber. Er hat eine ticketfreie Kennzeichen-Erfassung und ist nachts von 6pm bis morgens 8am kostenfrei. Der Marktplatz ist schnell erreichbar. An der Rückseite des Hotels steht die imposante St. Mary's Church mit schönen alten Grabsteinen. Der Weg vom Hotel zufuß zu den Caen Hill Locks macht Sinn und Spaß und ist eine willkommene kleine Wanderung am historischen Kennet-und-Avon-Kanal entlang.

Das Haus liegt an der wichtigen Straße, nachts war es verkehrsmäßig etwas laut. Es ist ein schönes altes Haus mit großen Fenstern, nur die Fensterrahmen müssten mal abgeschliffen und neu gestrichen werden - zum Werterhalt.

The staff were very friendly and polite. The Castle is central to everything. The breakfast was lovely, when there was a problem it was sorted quickly. The room could be made more comfortable with a sofa and soft furnishings but it was ok

Easy check in. Clear instructions for breakfast. Comfortable room, bed and pillows. A large bath with a wonderful towel warmer which was actually on! The shower worked really well also. Breakfast was very good, exactly what you had ordered the night before. The staff were lovely, very professional and accomodating. They dont serve food on sunday evenings but we can highly recommend the Curry Leaf just across the road, excellent food well presented.

Our room was at the front of the hotel so traffic noise was occasionally intrusive. The position of the TV in our room made it a little difficult to watch comfortably

We had a very good stay at the Castle Hotel. We arrived on bikes and they have safe secure storage. Dinner was great and our room was very comfortable.

Good location, welcoming staff, lovely room (a touch hot on a sunny morning but they provided a fan). We really enjoyed our stay in Devizes and would definitely stay here if/when we come back. Really nice breakfast too, and times well for anyone doing Quakers Walk parkrun on a Saturday (only a 7-10 minute walk away). Close to canals etc.

Very warm welcome, the Hotel is in a good position with car park opposite. The staff were all fantastic and vet helpful. The bedroom was very large along with the bathroom. Everything was very clean and well maintained.

The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Also friendly and approachable. The room was clean and very comfortable. I ate my evening meal there which was very good. Breakfast was also very good with a wide range of options. The establishment generally was well run and hospitable. I would stay there again, no question.

The only thing I wished was different was that I would've liked a thicker duvet. I wasn't cold as I left the radiator on, but my preference is to not have heating on overnight and to use a thicker duvet instead.

The windows didn’t open so the room was very stuffy, probably due to the proximity of the road outside which is very noisy but there was a ceiling fan which did help.

The hotel was easy to find, immaculately clean and had retained its historical character; the accommodation was quiet with a relaxing atmosphere. Our room overlooked the church and churchyard and had a strong shower and comfortable bed.The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. We highly recommend this hotel.

The staff were polite, friendly, attentive and very well organized. The room was clean spacious and quiet (rm 16). Breakfast was great. We booked for evening meal and Sunday lunch too both were excellent. The location was just right as the Avon & Kennet Canal was about a 5 min walk away. There was no onsite parking however we parked about a 5 min walk away in the Wharf Carpark - parking charges for w/e were very reasonable. Our stay at the Castle Hotel was really good value.

Love the location when visiting family, the hotel feels familiar with friendly staff. I have always managed a space in the little coach house and feel welcome on arrival. I have stayed in various rooms but in 15 this time, super spacious and the bed was comfortable.

We had a great time staying here. Hotel was neat and tidy. Well modernised. Staff were very accommodating and friendly. Very central to devizes. Lots of good pubs nearby. Really good experience, absolutely would go back.

The lack of parking on site was a slight pain but we parked at a pay and display a few minutes walk away which was £8 for a day. I get that for the location and age of the building it is what it is really.
