Nice hotel with great service
This is a one of a kind stay! If you are visiting monemvasia, you should be sure to stay on the island inside the fortress. We loved our time here! Great hiking up to the church on top of the hill, beautiful views, such a unique little community. We loved our stay!
Was a lovely stay in a unique location. We were made to feel very welcome by the owners. Would highly recommend.
Very charming hotel!
Friendly staff
Very beautiful and interesting.
Fabulous service and delicious breakfasts, breathtaking view, unique experience, highly recommend
Super location on the island! The room was very nice and a bottle of wine was left for us. The host was fabulous. He went out of his way to help us with the wi-fi, directions, and other items. Definitely recommend this lodging.
Location, Location, Location! It is a step backwards in time, but with current day amenities. Breakfast was great, Staff was very nice and friendly and helpful. Views were incredible. Exploring the lower town maze was fun! Restaurants were plentiful. Biggest regret, we did mot plan enough time to explore the upper level of town. One of the highlights of our trip!
great place, so quite. awesome breakfast with some homemade dishes. simply outstanding.
Love the location and main bedroom. Breakfast was great. Staff was excellent. Due to the restrictions the government places on restoring ancient structures the bathroom was tiny, and you couldn’t stand to take a shower. Negative that isn’t their fault due to restoring restrictions. Other than that, very nice place to stay at.
Great hotel in a unique location
Amazing and comfortable.
Best hotel
It was lovely to be inside the old castle and enjoy the beautiful and charming atmosphere.
The property is in a good position. Excellent breakfast and friendly staff ready to assist you. The bathroom was very smal, but the overall room size is large and bed comfortable, cooling was also excellent. The ocean view is largely obstructed so we didn't consider it an ocean view and the bathroom we got is different to the one advertised with a glass panel. We didn't like the shower curtain resting against the toilet.
An amazing place to stay, nestled in the walled city of Monemvasia. A once in a lifetime experience.
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL views and very unique experience of a castle like hotel. Parking is difficult and the hotel is located inside the old castle town where you have to go past a rocky path. Dont bring your carriers it wont be happy but all in all definitely worth the experience.
It would be useful to know the difficulties of walking around particularly for those with mobility issues
If you are coming to Monemvasia you should really stay within the castle walls to get the full experience. The hotel is towards the east end of the castle but a very easy walk (5 mins) through the lower town. Like all hotels inside the castle, it is really a cluster of separate houses made into hotel rooms and the room was spacious, beds comfortable with great sea views and nice antique furniture. Most of all as it's at the end of town it's very quiet. I would definitely recommend it
This is a very unique medieval castle and the rooms we stayed in were full of amazing character, beautiful architecture and stylish furniture. The staff were amazing, so warm and welcoming, I could not rate them more highly. They went out of their way to care for us. The breakfast every morning was fantastic, just about everything you could want was there and delicious. The rooms were a good size, clean and comfortable, with plenty of room for luggage. A very enjoyable experience.
Fun location but a haul with bags. We paid to have someone carry our bags out. Easy. Perhaps better room choices if you contact the hotel directly.
Great hotel near the central town where many of the shops and restaurants are located. The hotel serves a nice little breakfast buffet to start your day. Voula, the proprietor of the hotel is just delightful.
A place full of character in an amazing town The room was lovely with a comfortable bed, breakfast was good with friendly service from the cheerful Romanian gentleman(sorry never got your name) Only slight negatives from me are that it would be nice to have kettle and the shower head had to be hand held. Otherwise a very enjoyable stay.
Monemvasia is a wonderful place to visit but be aware that getting around involves a lot of steps and the old stone flooring in the village can be slippy even when dry. Staff at the hotel were kind and friendly. Hotel itself is a little tired and bathroom is absolutely tiny.
Nice medieval castle setting. Getting around the property and surrounding area was tough due to uneven cobblestone streets and steps, as well as poor lighting at night. Confusing maze like medieval town streets made it tough to find your way around. Difficultly of parking situation under stated . Leave the car at the bottom of the hill and take the bus or a taxi. Staff helped with getting our stuff back to the castle gate. Room had wonderful medieval vaulted wood ceiling, but was a bit quirky in its layout. If you want the medieval castle / town experience, this could be for you. If you want easy access and all the modern conveniences, probably not.
The hotel is situated within the walls of Monemvasia with easy access to the main square. It is a beautiful island and the hotel is impeccably clean and comfortable. It has been very well planned, in that everyone has a little outdoor seating area, which we really enjoyed in the evenings, when the crowds had left the island. Breakfasts were superb and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Rooms were well furnished and a fridge was provided. Bathrooms were small, but immaculately clean and fitted with marble. Monemvasia is a wonderful place to stay. We would recommend the hotel in a heartbeat and hope to return in the future.
We had a family room for two nights. It was very clean and comfortable. The staff was amazing and took very good care of us especially during breakfast. The hotel is hidden away through twisty lanes which made it challenging with luggage but at the same time extremely charming and worth the effort!
We were upgraded to one of the suites which was very nice with a lot of room. The shower is VERY short, I'm 5'8" and even I hit my head on the ceiling. Otherwise, the room is in good repair and very comfortable. Breakfast was good, the area is very quiet. Wifi was okay, not great but that's not surprising due to the location.
Definitely the best place in Monemvasia. Run by very nice people who do everything your stay is perfect.
One word, AMAZING!
The property was very clean! I a great location, the staff was friendly and very accommodating. Great breakfast in a beautiful garden. Highly recommend this place.
Location was excellent and the service by Alex who was there to take our luggage to our room, to serve us breakfast in the morning, to fix our air conditioner was so friendly and his service so personal, that I would come back because of him alone
Beautiful family run hotel. Good location, excellent breakfast. We parked our car and took the local transfer bus to the main gate which runs every half hour. Really appreciated the hotel advising us to pack an overnight bag for our short stay and leave our suitcase in the car. This is not the place for high heels and lugging suitcases and glad the hotel offered this insight in advance.
Very clean, comfortable and spacious room overlooking the courtyard and the water. Very friendly staff and enjoyed the breakfast. Near the back of the castle so a little longer walk to carry luggage but worth it!
Likinia
Lovely hotels with nice views of the sea. Breakfast was great!
It was a lovely looking room. The sea view was partial so not what it was advertised as it was blocked from other houses roofs. The pillows were hard and there was a strong odour in the room which was irritating our nose and throat. We raised it with management but they didn’t have another room available and they also denied cancelling and refunding. It was very clean overall and nice decorated. It was also quite spacious but smaller from the rooms advertised. It required few minutes walk to reach it from the gate but the management found us a person to assist us with the luggage. We stayed one night instead of three and we left for a different area to continue our holidays as we didn’t manage to sleep.
Our room was spacious with a number of windows some with sea views. The bathroom was quite small but space is at a premium here. Room was well presented and clean. A safe would have been a welcomed addition as well as restocking the room fridge every day. Breakfast was ok, more variety and quantity would improve it. Overall the best thing about this hotel was the generous room and views.
We loved this property. The location, staff and facility were great. Would recommend this to friends.
An absolutely wonderful place to stay. Highly recommended!
It was a beautiful property. Our room had marble floors and was huge. The towels were thick and heavy. It was quiet. Vula was so welcoming. It was quite a hike up and down stairs with luggage to get to the hotel. When my husband quipped he could use a beer after getting there, she sat us down and brought us 2 beers and a snack. Breakfast is included and is very nice as is the staff that serves you. There was a nice bottle of wine in the room which we enjoyed. We would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to anyone going to Monemvasia.
Great property in a fabled Medieval Castle, awesome Restaurants and unique shops, only caution is that it is quite the trek to go back and to hotel with cobblestone steps that take you up and down
You must be prepared to climb 100 steps to stay here. The staff was uninformed and upset to be inconvenienced. On the exit they did not arrange for bags. No water in the room.
An amazingly situated hotel in a remarkable location.
Great staff. Beautiful rooms. Nice breakfast. Friendly staff.
Beautiful location. Was a little difficult to locate the hotel.
Beautiful property; wonderful welcome; very nice room with balcony overlooking pool and lovely scenery.
Room was pleasantly renovated. Breakfast ok, but not great. Long walk to hotel with lots of stairs. Not an easy place to visit. Good assistance from hotel in leaving our room.
Such a phenomenal location! Our room was right on the plaza that looked out to the sea. So tranquil and a very comfortable room as well with a sitting area.
Likinia Hotel is inside the walked Castle of Monemvassia, a very interesting and special location. It was a rewarding experience staying there.
beautiful place with classy decor, delicious breakfast
The town is beautiful and the hotel is charming. Remember that there are cobblestones throughout the town and if you have a lot of luggage, you can arrange to have someone help you. The owners are very kind as are the other people in the hotel.
It is a very beautiful hotel with spacious rooms. My friend and I had a very good holiday in Monemvasia. The hotel also provides up-market toiletries. We had enjoyable stay in Likinia. Just a tip to everyone who wants to stay in this hotel. Please ensure you use the "city transfer" service when you reach the city gate, as you don't want to pull your heavy luggage on the uneven cobbled steps.
A beautiful family-run hotel just outside of the main tourist crowds on this amazing little island. The service was outstanding, the room beautiful and the surroundings took our breath away. The only little minus was the lack of sea views from our room due to the fact that we booked really late and ours was the last available room.
The family who owns and runs the Likinia could not have been nicer or more accomodating. They allowed my father-in-law, who is no longer so mobile, to choose the room he was most comfortable in. Rooms were extremely clean and comfortable, and the hot water was consistent. Good Greek-style breakfast, good location close to shops, swimming, and hiking, and fabulous views too! Go!!!
We absolutely loved our stay at the Likinia Hotel. We booked their loft room which featured a beautiful bedroom and living room area. The details in the woodwork, tile and marble are stunning. Each room has a deep sense of character that makes you feel as though you’ve visited before. The owners make you feel like you’re a part of their family and treat you with the utmost respect and kindness. They stock the rooms with cold drinks and wine to keep you refreshed. Their breakfast is all home cooked and delicious, catering to different tastes. The room was immaculate and the owner was generous enough to upgrade our parents bedroom at the last minute. We can’t say enough positive remarks about this hotel. We will certainly visit again!
the room or its little porch had no view of the city or water. Breakfast was average, but had delicious jams. The lady owner was not very friendly, not deliberately just the way she was. No coffee makers in the room or anything to make hot water for tea. I was able to get hot water from her in the breakfast room. Accomodations were very clean and modern. parking near the city gate is scares even in October. Definitely eat dinner at Marianthi, a little home made food restaurant on the main alley run by a very kind lady. she sits at your table and explains all the menu items. The fried zucchini and veal stuffed eggplants were delicious. Reasonable prices too.
Go to this hotel and town before it's fully discovered! Major renovations in the town and the hotel development means that not everyone has found it, and the prices are still reasonable. Fascinating place to spend the night in amazing accomodations.
Amazing hotel! Very clean and comfortable. We had a partial sea view. Quiet and beautiful location. Check in was easy and the breakfast was delicious. The freshly squeezed orange juice was a nice touch. Will be telling everyone I know to stay here.
This is a peaceful, well kept and very comfortable hotel. The staff are kind and helpful and we had a lovely stay
We visited Monemvasia and stayed in Likinia hotel . The hotel is inside the castle with Very nice view. The rooms are very comfort , clean with traditional decoration. The staff are very helpful and very polite. Highly recommended this hotel for monemvasia.
Great place, would go again. Highly recommended, great overall experience.
The Likinia is a beautiful Hotel at the far end from the entrance portal to Monemvassia. We stayed only one night but wished we stayed longer. Each room has a nice terrace overlooking the restored town. The rooms are spacious, clean and tastefully, decorated. The owners are great hosts who take pride in their project to renovate and operate the hotel. If possible, pack only what you need for your stay to make the transport of your luggage from the entrance portal,of the town to the hotel easier.
We had a great time and felt like family with Mrs Voula. The rooms are immaculately kept and classic in style. Great breakfast spread as well! We'll be back for sure.
At end of long stone path in an amazing castle city!
Superb small classic hotel on Monemvasia. The lady owner was wonderful. All the very best of Greek tradition of warmth, friendship and hospitality. The hotel was perfect, clean tidy and the staff terrific.
How can you criticize a beautiful hotel that has kept its old-world charm on a medieval island? Our room was built on a 12th-century foundation. You can still feel the remnants of old candle wax in the authentic niches of the wall's original stonework. The floors are wall-to-wall marble, even the shower floor. Enter your bathroom through a stone archway that may have been a monk's cloister. Smell the mesquite from an old fire in the stone fireplace. The room was the size of a large efficiency apartment, with only the kitchen missing. A complimentary bottle of wine awaited us. What a stupendous price for all of this on a medieval island. The proprietors are very nice, but haven't been able to imbibe much English, so this has led some travelers to complain in some of the reviews that had initially worried me. Don't let this misunderstanding deter you from enjoying this wonderful experience. The breakfast was delightful. Do not pass up the freshly squeezed orange juice; ours was clearly freshly plucked from a local arbor. The swimming was unbeatable. The water is clearer than most of the beaches I swam in, both on the Peloponnese and off Santorini, and that is REALLY saying something. Bring your goggles, your snorkle, and stay more than one night. Very few rowdy young people splashing about, so the water remains still and inviting beneath the precipitous medieval town clinging to the cliff. Great restaurants & shops. Trendy but old-world!
The location was amazing, should have packed a small suitcase, as there are a lot of steps going to the hotel.
The hotel is located in the best area of monemvasia, the staff are very friendly, the rooms are clean and new!
Monemvasia is a great place. Hotel is in a great location with beautiful ocean views. Rooms are spacious, well furnished and comfortable
The hotel was fantastic, with a wonderful position. Breakfast was either outside or in the arched area beside the bar. Breakfast was abundant. The room had a little terrace to enjoy the view of the sea from. Being nearer the edge of the town it was peaceful, but only a few minutes away from the bars and restaurants. The room had lots of character and the staff/owners were very helpful and kind. To have been perfect tea making facilities and slightly less noisy sheets would have been great (the sheets had been overstarched and made noise every time you turned over), but the experience was excellent and we'd have liked to stay longer in such an amazing place.
Simply beautiful.
Good accommodation and very helpful and friendly staff. It's location at the far end of the citadel was an issue - if you have any mobility problems. Access is on foot via cobbled alleys and many flights of uneven steps. Your car must be parked outside the citadel entrance, but for us was over 1km from entrance in low season. There is a porterage service for luggage, but suggest you pack for overnight only.
Nice hotel in a quiet part of Monemvasia for those looking for relaxation.
Great hotel. They were so kind and helpful. They let us choose our room after showing us two of them. The beds were very comfy, the breakfast was delicious. The scenery was the best in Greece. If I'm ever blessed to visit Monemvasia again I will stay at Likinia
The stay at this hotel was a great experience. The room had great views of the city and the ocean. Breakfast was sitting in the owners garden with a great selection. The owners were friendly which provided another window to seeing Greece..
Really accommodating on all levels, great breakfast
What a fabulous place! We loved the location, the style, the very kind hosts and high-end comfort of the room. The best part is that it is part of a brilliant restoration project that blew us away!
I'm so glad we chose to spend 2 nights in Monemvasia at the beautiful Linkinia! Decor is very romantic and quite well done. By far one of the nicest hotels we've ever experienced and we have traveled quite a bit. Breakfast was delicious. Very quiet area...
Amazing hotel this is a great family run hotel When I went to check out they asked me why I didn't have breakfast and they offered to cook for me even though it was midday
Wonderful renovated hotel complex in a delightful town. Need to park outside the city walls and walk through cobblestone streets to get to the hotel, so pack light. The room was clean and comfortable although the bathroom was a bit tight. Some rooms have beautiful sea views and others citadel and wall views. Breakfast was simple but tasty. You can hike up to the high fortress or swim by the city walls. The owners/staff are friendly and generous. Bookkeeping could be slightly improved. Would go back anytime!
Beautiful hotel complex with sea and village views. Comfortable, clean room with small but sufficient bathroom. Simple but tasty breakfast. Hard to find...hotel is inside the rock - can drive across causeway, park in lot or rock side, then at very back of village; advisable to pack small bag if short stay to avoid dragging suitcase over cobbles.
