Golf View Hotel

I travelled from the Kingston Airport, one week after hurricane Melissa. Got a private driver and the drive was unevenful, as the hurricane, had not hit the city of Kingston, I traveled to the Golfview hotel in Mandeville in the parish of Manchester. First time, ever staying in that region of jamaica. I have to admit, that upon first approach, I was a bit hesitant, as the hotel did not meet my expections visually. But, and I have to say, but, was I in for a surprise. My first encounter was with Lafaye, the front desk receptionist. She was extremely pleasant and personable and I felt at ease. She offered me a free upgrade and I eagerly accepted. She handled my reservation well and after a gruelingly long trek, I was happy to see that she was confident in doing her job. This one is a keeper for sure. The room was nicely proportioned and I was pleasantly surprised. I had no complaints. Mr Bailey, took my bag up to my room. A very nice young man. It was a very heavy bag, as it had food supplies that I had bought for the victims of Melissa. He didnt complain, but I am sure he felt the weight, as the handle had dislodged itself, during transit. My next person of interest, was Askera. I kept calling her Reshika, and she answered to it. I dont know why. she was so pleasant, every time I saw her. Always smiling with a little dimple on the left side of her cheek. Definately, another keeper for sure. I saw her dealing with a difficult customer one day, while I was perusing the internet in the foyer, and I have to admit, she had the patience of Job! Kudos on a job well done! I also met the general Manager named Mr Smith. A man who was sincerely concerned about the customers and employees he served. We spoke for a bit, and I was able to decern that he was an authentic and genuine person. He did share, when I asked him, why he seemed a bit uptight, he admitted that his mom had just passed. Whew. Thats a heavy one. And even more concerning was that he was still in attendance on the job. I saw him every single day of the seven days I was there. Now in America, that wouldnt be the case, so I have to applaud him for being dedicated to his job. Whoever owns this hotel, please note that he is another keeper and that this is a dedicated individual! I had a free breakfast everyday, which considered of jamaican ground provision and eggs and sauages for the Americans and British. I enjoyed, the mackeral and coconut as I had never had that before. My compliments to the head chef, mr gordon for the beautiful jamaican meals he has been preparing. Many thanks to tracy, tabitha, nadia and definately to Mr Jermaine who served quite a few of the mornings. Many thanks also goes out to the following staff members. The young man from maintenance who took the time to help with my tv. He was a smaller man, but thin in statue. didnt get his name. Shantel, for being patient with me in the lounge regarding the chicken burger and fries. This place I found had so many wonderful staff, I honestly was surprised. Thank you guys for a job well done....

I flew all the way from the UK to Jamaica expecting a beautiful and well-organised wedding at Golf view Hotel, but sadly, the experience was far from what I hoped for. My changing room wasn’t ready before the wedding as promised — it was two hours late, which cut my time short and left me rushing through everything I had planned. When I asked the front desk for help, they were unhelpful and simply mentioned that there had been a party beforehand, which is completely unprofessional when you have a wedding scheduled with a year notice! The event manager did not do his job properly and showed little care or effort in ensuring things went smoothly. The whole experience felt disorganised and stressful when it should have been joyful. To make matters worse, the general manager was not present on the day. When I later spoke with him about my experience, he was rude, disrespectful, and refused to take accountability. We had agreed that I would receive 35% back due to the poor service, but he later changed the agreement and claimed I had agreed to something different. I am incredibly disappointed. After travelling all that way for what was meant to be one of the happiest days of my life, I was left feeling frustrated, disrespected, and let down. I truly hope Golf view Hotel improves their professionalism, honesty, and communication so that no one else goes through what I did.

When I arrived at the property at 10:30 pm I selected a king size bed they told me it was unavailable and I got two small bed for my husband and I - went into the room the AC did not work and there was ants all over the floor - requested a room change waited over 45 mins at 11: 30 pm now to get a room change that room was filthy as well- there was music playing loudly till 2 am. Worst stay ever

I like the fact that it’s close to everything supermarket, hospital gas station clubs. I hate that when I got in late from a all day function I couldn’t take a shower the pipe was dripping and no hot water . The tv couldn’t change channels. Very rundown

This was my second time staying at Golf View and the stay was very pleasant and will definitely be my spot when I visit home.

Room was very clean , there's a bar and restaurant on the property, security the gate, the only draw back was i was there's no elevator abd i was on the third floor, also when i checked out , i had to wait for them to check the room for damages before i leave even though my card had a hold on it just for that purpose, but overall I had a great time, will definitely visit again

There was no hot water, WiFi, safe or kettle in the room. The room is dated and the bedding and pillows were uncomfortable. The food was good but not remarkable. The only good thing about my stay was the staff were warm friendly and welcoming.

My family and I stayed at this hotel recently for 5 nights while visiting family for a wedding. I am giving stars because the hotel was clean and served free breakfast and brunch which was nice. There also was a nice pool. I’m taking off points because I had no Internet in the room which was extremely inconvenient, there are no elevators and the hotel was under construction.

The property itself needs some TLC. They started and some rooms have some great features but I think they weren't well planned out. Like twice I've stayed in 6 months and light from the corridors enters the room and straight to the bed which kept me up. I fixed it by taking a towel to the gaps. They curtains could also be better at blocking our the light. This trip I had no internet access so it was an issue connecting back to the office. But the food is great and the staff is friendly and always ready to assist. I mean we talk as if we know each other since forever. Big up to to Jessica, Kedene and Lises from room service! They're great guys! Tip them and I hope the management values them. Demeka from the upstairs dining she's awesome also. I don't really remember the names of the front desk agents but they're pretty chill too. And Daysha from Latitude - she's so Soo friendly. So while the property is upgrading and still got some ways to go in ironing out the kinks. They staff made it so great that you could not even feel uncomfortable - they helped in every way they can. It's a must stay if you have business in Mandeville or Manchester and you need to stay a couple nights.

I don't get good service no TV no internet even ask them to move me from the third floor I was sick they didn't move me I move out before my time I have to go to family member before I leave I couldn't take it no longer and I leave for my family came back here into America service was poor so they owe me one night money

TV service and WiFi not working, refrigerator was not clean or working, broken draws, old furniture need new pillows and sheets. Didn’t inform us that WiFi wasn’t working or the tv. Poor management and service

My stay was well spent at Golfview. I have absolutely no regrets making this choice. The place has a "homey" feel to it. I needed a place that is clean, felt safe and comfortable with a great ambiance. Golfview provided all of the above with the added benefit of a great lounge to hang out and have a drink or to eat sumptuous meals on evenings along with and excellent complimentary breakfast choices on mornings. I highly recommend Golfview Hotel in Mandeville for your vacation while in Jamaica regardless of length of stay. Above all else, the hotel is very much affordable for the array of benefits that are provided. Looking forward to a return soon. Big up to Golfview and its wonderful staff!

Had to climb 3 flights of stairs to get to the room. Had no hot water for a shower water pressure was non existent. Had someone outside my bathroom window on the 3rd floor making repairs to a broken water pipe- Front Desk only called after men were already working. Blasting loud music inside the compound Friday night until 11:00pm, don't even think of getting any rest from 5pm-11:00pm. The highlight of the trip was being awaken early in the morning by crawling bugs -yes termites all over the bed and floors. I brought some to the Airport with me -we were killing termites that were crawling out of our luggage. Left a message with Shane when we checked out to have a manager call me- Still waiting on a call back from the manager. I would never stay at this hotel again. Observed bunch of keys left unattended by cleaning staff sitting on a chair - Hotel Staff was friendly and accomodating. Food was ok.

I enjoyed my stay at the Golf View hotel. Easy accessible to the local shops, supermarket, malls, resturants, local hospital etc. Excellent service provided👍!

Safety lock did not work due to poor installation. Had a power cut and an alarm go off without explanation. No elevator

Hot water was limited for bathing, room phone didn’t work, uneven steps, my sister fell and hurt her leg. The fire alarm system kept going off these alarm were false and kept waking us up at nights, music was loud on the weekends and went till late at nights. The shower was unsafe, there was nowhere to to hold unto if you should slip and nowhere to put the soap. I will never go back there or recommend anyone to stay there. The food and staff services was great.

Need & elevator but most of all the entire staff team are so professional and polite.

I enjoyed the cleanliness of the rooms - the food / restaurant staff were great as well as the reception. On the other hand the hotel was noisy on the weekends with loud music far into the early morning. The noise wasn’t contained as it was loud music in the courtyard. The neighborhood was equally very noisy for three nights into the early mornings with night club music or church over loud speakers. One night an alarm went off at 4:15am and loudly rang 25 minutes. No apologies were made for all these noises. The corridors were not cleaned and when it rained it was wet and there was no clean up of the standing water. The hotel has many uneven steps throughout the building and the alert notices were badly placed as they were hidden and effaced in many places. I, a client fell and sustained a nasty blow on my leg at one of these uneven steps. The hotel staff was helpful and offered taking me to the hospital the next day in case my pain and swelling persisted. They also had a first aid ket and offered help with icing of my swollen leg. They also apologized. My leg pain is a bit less at this point and I’ll go for an X-ray now that I’m back in the US. Some of the rails on the verandas / corridors are shaking and therefore unsafe. For the amount of money paid for this hotel - is not justified based on the many issues mentioned. There wasn’t even an iron ( must request one) There was no microwave.. no coffee pot or even complimentary tea or coffee.

The shower was a no no for us. Using the shower the floor was wet, and that was a huge red flag. We were at risk for fall/ injury the tiles were slippery. Also we were no able to use the Tv for what reason i know, and other users were very noisy .

It was a horrible stay at the golf view . The bathroom and toilet was dirty they need to upgrade . The breakfast was prepared only for their nationality dish. There is people from different countries and no other options to eat they should improve to make international dishes

Had a wonderful stay at Golfview. The staff were friendly and accomedating. The room was nice modern and clean.The food was so good. You get the real authenthic Jamaican dishes full of flavour. Food was much better than the resort I stayed at before in Ocho rios. We had a few minor issues which were resolved quickly. My only compaint was one missing blinds in the bathroom window. I had to hang towels in order to get privacy. I asked for one but was told I wasnt going to get it that night and that was the end of it. Our bathroom faced another hotel with a lot of windows so i didnt feel like I had much privacy with the blinds being missing. Other than that I would definitely recommend Golfview

I’m sure I’ll get her wrong but on the day of check in she was a sweetheart with a bright smile and an big personality my partner and I really could not stop talking about how down to earth she was but professional at the same time. Asheka. She was really nice. I was not sure of the location when I got there as I grew up in Mandeville the same area but when the gates opened up and I realised how secured it was I felt good. My first impression of the property was ok nice and the room also nice.

Under renovation and will be amazing once completed. Stayed in one of the renovated rooms which was very comfortable and modern. Breakfasts were delicious. Good service.

It is a 3 star hotel so our expectations were not high. However, the costing was very high for the food and the room. Very little amenties in the room, as there was no hot water, the bed/pillows were extremely uncomfortable, there was an iron board without any iron, internet connection was poor and the cable options were limited. What was most embarrassing was when I was called at work to say that my husband had not checked out, only to find out that he had indeed checked out before the stipulated time. That for me was the final straw!! We will never return!! Will never return!!

Way too expensive for what’s being offered

The Golf view is in a good location but the rooms are small. We had an iron board but no iron. There was no fridge unless you paid 5 dollars a night. No tea/coffee facilities. The breakfast was boring with the same food everyday. The pool was not maintained. I think for a 3 star hotel and price the hotel would be better if they improve on providing more amenities in the room as well as being more creative with the breakfast.

They had a function which was loud and inconvenient. We had to park our vehicles outside of the property and go back and lark i side. The lounge was lovely but the service was poor, we placed our order and 20mins after we still havent gotten what we ordered. Room wasnt bad, housekeeping was great.

My stay at Golf View in May 2024 was very fantastic Staff friendly, resquest was promptly ,would recommend to friends and Families will be staying again.

Property lacking essential resources for the guests - iron board with no iron, telephone in the room disconnected, turn on the facet in the bathroom water sprays all over. TV without cable box. Breakfast was not desirable. I could go on but I will stop here. Not that place again.

One of the bathroom shower door was missing. Overall, the stay at the hotel was enjoyable. The staff members were courteous.

I always stay at the golf view hotel but on this occasion I was disappointed I never write a review but on this occasion I will The 2 old members of staff are excellent as always one works on front desk and the other on reseverations The new front desk staff the young ladies they need training on how to deal with customers and people the attuide and approach needs looking into The stupidity of it and suprise is that I was charged for towels having make up on them which is something that can come off in the wash so my charge was the equivalent to £12,00 I was told the hotel has changed ownership and that was their new policy to charge for towels that are stained with make up ect ridiculous these towels are white, during the rest of my stay me and my daughter was watching every stain on the towels and If there was any washing them out ridiculous The room needs to have a mirror long one to at The bathroom one is not sufficient There are loads of improvements need in the hotel and I think it’s gone down now especially with the new owners who has taken over it’s meant to be an improvement not as far as it’s concerned

It was clean. Staff was friendly.i was disappointed that there was no fridge in the room. I travelled with medication that needed to be refrigerated. We did not have any hot water at times and the water pressure was very low. We did not have any television or phone. I was told that it should have been communicated to me when I did the booking

I stayed at Golf View Hotel from the 02/21 - 02-26 of this year 2024 I really had a wonderful time during my stay there The Staff were friendly and very helpful. I Felt Safe, The breakfast was delicious.Sunday night live entertainment was something to talk about. I will definitely stay there again.

Service was great, all the staff was friendly & very helpful, especially Mike, Nataliya, & Shane. Beds are small you may need to upgrade, Tvs didnt work the whole week even after the tech said it was fixed. Took a looong time to clean the room every day 3+ hours so be prepared to stay out the room for awhile or just to grab stuff. Altitude restaurant food was good & drinks STRONG so beware. Breakfast was only good 2/7 days. Walking distance from town everything you need within 2-15m walk

Overpriced, overatted hotel. Room had no curtains and one had to sleep with bright security light in the room. Bed was lumpy and tough. TV did not work. Breakfast very minimal and was very local. Lack hotel safety, the place is under construction. Buyer beware in this property, you will not rest well. Over priced

A wonderful experience. All staff members are extremely courteous, helpful and kind. After meeting one of the owners, I understand why! Me PC, one of the owners, took time out to talk with me. A very down to earth guy! Although there are renovations going on, I am very pleased I made the choice to stay at the Golf View Hotel!

Convenience

I like the location of the property..The Dinner is fine..Breakfast was too limited..in terms of limited choices of Teas, creamers etc... What I didn't like was the fact that my room had no cable box..for my entire sray..Despite me been notified upon arrival..I was given the impression that I would have had some kinda TV service..Only to find out the TV'S WERE NOT SMART TVs..hence I was unable to watch the television... The sales manager didn't seem to care despite me complaining of not having a cable box or smart TV in my room.. Very disappointed with GOLF VIEW

Hot water doesnt work

The property was very clean. The staff were pleasant and friendly. The complementary breakfast was excellent. The only issue was the TV not working, Apparently there was a problem with the cable company. I would stay there again.

Front desk staff was exceptionally efficient and helpful. The property in under renovation but that does not interfere with the guests.

There was no working desk phone to make calls to front desk, hit and miss hot water availability, poor WI-FI, no Handicap accessibility and we were placed on the 3rd floor. Loud music at night. Horrible experience!! Golf view Stay.

The only positive things I can report on is the large room/suite, friedlyness ,courtesy and helpfullnes of the staff. Every thing else is poor. The breakfasts did not include Jamaica national dish (Ackerman and salt fish), the service for meals was slow, towels took a while to be refreshed (room cleaned int he day, towels replaced at night), and the worse was a noisy concert on a Sunday night, I mean really? Why not Friday or Saturday night?

The staff is always friendly as usual, clean and quiet. Nice pool and property (still under updating construction). Rom furniture and bed needs upgrading. Shower needs a water wall, a lot of water ends up on the outside floor making it very dangerous to slipping and falling. Hotel should pay attention to that as that is a liability if someone where to take a serious fall. Kitchen got our food order wrong. This was my second stay, would stay again. Very noisy with kids in pool for a very long time. Bathroom has an aweful smell, good thing I had brought my room freshener. No table in room for dining, I had to eat on the bed. I definitely would not stay here again, nor encouraged friends or families to stay here.

When i arrived to the hotel on 7/28 guests were ahead of me and my family and we were told you are welcome to go to the lounge for drinks. my husband and son went to lounge and they were dressed in nice tshirt and matching shorts and was told they were not allowed to come in because they look like they just left the GYM. how rude to tell a guest that! then when i checked in i aske to extend my stay for extra night i was told the double room that i booked i would have to cancel and rebook a excutive room for EXTRA NIGHT what sense does that make when its available on line to book. i also requested for the renovated excutive room for myself i got the room that had peeled cielings in the room and bathroom. then we wentto breakfast and the server passed us several times and noticed us 10 min later and asked how is everthing i said well we have food no silverware ,water! then the day of check out they had a guest that walking through hotel with a short skirt and no panties and a big backside and front desk said shes a paying guest really. we look like we just came from the gym but she can walk around nasty and not the proper attire. i have been a guest here in the past i will not be back!!!! our attire is not appropriate at the lounge but the room is apropriate for guests. veiw the photos.

Please do no stay here. It’s a motel and a dump. They were easter bugs everywhere like over 100, out side your door, in your bathroom, in the sink and bath tub. They had us in 1/2 finish renovated rooms with holes in the wall. Wires were everywhere, furniture was torn with cigarettes burns The toilet stop flushing and my daugther had to fill up buckets of water to flush the toilet. It was a disaster. We only stayed here for a funeral in mandeville. The staff was friendly and the manager give us a free dinner, but it was not worth the trouble and the horrible experience. Tje pool was dirty. The entire place should be torn down and rebuild. Bath was flooding daily and mirror you could not see your face in since it was too high. Bulbs were missing. It was just horrific.

The elevator didn't. work. We drove 15 hours and they wouldn't accommodate us. The person available to speak to at midnight when we arrived, would only text with us and refused to call us. They said they didn't own the property so they couldn't do anything. When we asked for a refund they went offline and wouldn't talk to us anymore. DO NOT waste your time with this place. Piss poor management.

Roach in room, limited towels, large roaches around pool area

The hotel staff were friendly,the hotel is clean and the complimentary breakfast every morning was very delicious . The housekeeping staff were very courteous and kept our room and surrounding areas quiet clean. The fish dinner from the" latitude lounge" was awesome and the hotel grounds has beautiful flowers and plants

Property needs improvement and elevator to get to the rooms too much stairs and it cost too much for the stay to only get breakfast

This property was at the time being renovated and I understand there would be some noise BUT on a Sunday morning when people are normally resting the workers were outside at 7am talking and laughing LOUD. There was a like a bulldozer or a tracker outside going back and forth. Loud banging and knocking. I called the front desk to complain and instead of getting better the noise only got louder. No concerns for the guest. We ask for an Iron the 1st one was broken and the water was leaking on my clothes the 2nd one the cord was taped up I wouldn't use that because I feared being shock. There was ants in the room and a baby green lizard😵 Management needs to spend some money on pest control. PS The workers were EXTREMELY nice and professional

Meal options need to be widened. Need more options

The overall stay was great especially the bar area. The room I had was cozy. My only issue is they need to be more efficient with technology. I was a bit irritated because the front desk staff wanted me to pay for my room again even though I show her my itinerary, confirmation number, credit card statement,etc it took them 2 days to realized that it was pay. By searching log books.

The property is convenient and rates are reasonable. The physical aspect needs some upgrades . The staff is friendly and efficient.

Check-in was long. We were advised to wait in the longe and the reception staff would come and get us when the room was ready, never happened, she forgot about us. Not a big deal but next time say, come check in like 30-40 min.
