The location was convenient as a stopping point on the way to the Scottish Highlands. The room was comfortable & the shower was good as was breakfast.

I was unable to get dinner but this was down to my food preferences and not the gust house

Great location at the edge of the village. Our host was very welcoming and the room was nice. We had breakfast made to order it was very nice and its a small and quite place. they also welcome dogs which we did not have but good to know. They catered for gluten free very well. The town is about 5 mins drive time with car.

La stanza era spaziosa e bellissima con una vetrata verso l'esterno meravigliosa. La colazione fantastica, preparata e servita in modo amorevole da Pru la proprietaria che ci ha dato ottimi consigli sulle cose da visitare. La posizione è comoda per visitare il Lake District e il Vallo di Adriano con spostamenti limitati e meravigliosi da fare visto i paesaggi e panorami stupendi! Consigliatissimo!!!

Very warm welcome, very dog-friendly. Our room was great, and the location was perfect for a beautiful evening walk.

Breakfast was 10/10. Great choice, with daily changes.

Wi-Fi password didn't work, but that could have been a fault my end. Location directly on A6 not brilliant, but a good base.

Es difícil expresar la amabilidad de la anfitriona con un simple mensaje. Tuvimos un accidente de coche justo antes de llegar a la casa y nos quedamos sin vehículo. Al día siguiente, necesitábamos ir a Penrith para coger un tren con todo nuestro equipaje. La anfitriona y una amiga suya, muy amablemente, nos llevaron a la estación de tren en sus propios coches; nos salvaron el día. Estamos profundamente agradecidos por la calidez y amabilidad que nos demostraron. La casa es preciosa y muy cómoda. Todo estaba impecable y el desayuno fue perfecto. ¡Les mandamos un fuerte abrazo!

Very charming B&B with lovely garden, host was very helpful and cooked a lovely breakfast for us. Room was a good size and well equipped. There was a sitting room and garden for guests to use which was helpful after putting children to bed.

Some road traffic noise from A road over the fields but not overly loud.

Excellent location for what we needed. Breakfast was very nice and the host was absolutely lovely and went out of her way to accommodate our needs.

Very uncomfortable beds and guessing oldish mattresses? Very dusty lights and floor behind basin. Porridge already there before going down and main dish arrived when only halfway through porridge?! Not cooked from fresh but reheated with bacon really hard especially.

Bed too soft for me. Didn’t sleep well. Bathroom door didn’t lock and didn’t shut when the window was open which, in a 3 person room, wasn’t ideal

Host was very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was great too, and the host was very thoughtful to ensure our dog Ruby also had something to eat for breakfast!!

Great location, great room size, great facilities and great host. She was lovely and she made the exprience really easy for us. Breakfast in the morning was excellent, not your typical buffet. The environment around the house and other guests is also excellent, you feel like home. We loved the room and the beds, we slept so well!

Stopped here on our way to Scotland with our small dog. Room was great, very clean and all usual human amenities, breakfast was brilliant and easy parking on site. The owner could not have been more welcoming and helpful. The nearby George & Dragon pub was dog friendly and very good for the evening meal. The Guest House owner recommended a local walk where we could let the dog off the lead. Situated just off the M6 it was very convenient and the rooms were well sound proofed. Dog says we must stay there again next time.

Lovely big room overlooking field. Large garden area and beautiful planting. Easy access to Penrith for places to eat and village pubs. Lounge area added bonus. Comfy beds.

We didn't realise two driveways and we came in the one with an awkward turn where temporary traffic lights. Once we saw there was a wider driveway we used that one. Some traffic noise.

Very welcoming and very clean and tidy, also allowed me to place my motorbike in the garage.

A first class traditional B&B with a proper cooked bfast and all the accompaniments. Decent sized towel in the bathroom - why do so many places give you something little better than a handkerchief? Nice old buildings with wooden beams but fully modernised in very nice grounds with plenty of parking. Met on arrival and greeted properly. Again something which is lacking in many places these days. Would I recommend? Absolutely. Need an evening meal? Short walk to the local pub. I didn't eat there but other guests at the B&B did.

The breakfast was excellent, lots of choice, and served without delay. Location was quite near the road, but the property is set in lovely gardens and parking was easy. The owner is a very friendly lady who immediately made you feel welcome.

Convenient location - well sign posted and plenty of parking. Nice garden. On a main road (convenient) - but far enough back not to be affected by road noise. Lovely comfy bed with soft sheets and great pillows. Beautiful soft & fluffy towels. Robe & slippers provided. Drinks tray (but sadly no biscuits). Plenty of hanging space with hangers, even though the room was compact. Wash basin in the room with nice quality products to use. Fantastic bathroom and shower - bigger than the bedroom itself. Able to specify breakfast time/ requirements the night before and breakfast was delicious (except the mushrooms) and the coffee was great!

The online description says you have the use of a private bathroom - I didn't realise this meant you had to exit the room to get to it. It wasn't a problem in the end (dressing gown and slippers were provided), but you had to remember to take the key and try not to make too much noise in the middle of the night for other guests, with any toilet stops. Mushrooms at breakfast.

Excellent hearty breakfast with a very full selection. Very friendly and helpful host and lovely clean room with very comfy beds and lovely bath and monsoon shower.

We drove from Fort William during Storm Amy and were very happy to arrive at the White House. We were immediately greeted by Prue and welcomed in. Our rooms were clean and very comfortable; the beds especially so. Tea/coffee supplies in the rooms were plentiful, and the toiletries in the bathroom were lovely. One of the reasons we chose the White House was because it is dog friendly. We had 3 dogs with us and it was obvious that Prue loves dogs and she was great with them. Breakfast was a full English with options of yoghurt, fruit and cereal as well. Duck treats provided for the dogs. We would definitely stay again.

This is my second visit to The White House and I very much hope that it will not be my last. Excellent accommodation. Fabulous breakfast. Such a warm welcome for my dog. And the topping on the cake is the friendliness of Pru, the proprietor. I would recommend this guest house to anyone and would like to extend my thanks to Pru for making it such a delightful place to stay.

Host was lovely. Originally booked for 2 people and due to a change in plans, it was just me and host offered me a refund for the difference without asking. She also let me store my motorcycle in the garage. Breakfast was also great.

This was a really great place to spend the night on my way home. The room and bathroom were lovely. The breakfast in the morning was excellent. Dog friendly. Great location to get on and off the motorway. It was still quite quiet though.

What a fantastic find, clean, comfortable and welcoming for pets and people. A great place to stop off to/from Scotland and a delicious breakfast to see me on my way.

The weather

Our host was welcoming and very sociable. The bed was very comfortable, while the shower was rather tight - especially for a large person. The breakfast was excellent and parking was easy. Very good accommodation for a one-night stay.

My room didn't have an en-suite. Although the designated personal bathroom was more than adequate
