Hotel is very good and much more better and professional than overrated hotels such as il san pietro di positano. The views are amazing and it has very good terrace to hang out and spend time. The staff is also very quick and helpful and accommodates most of your requests. The only issue is that the pool becomes lukewarm after noon and it is not refreshing at all. And since there is only one pool and no beach access it is a bit of an issue to consider.
After a disastrous start in Amalfi at a different hotel, Monastero Santa Rosa came to the rescue! Was able to salvage our honeymoon in Amalfi by getting a last minute 4-night stay here. Here’s the short and simple version. This hotel is very special. It is elegance and luxury without being pretentious. The property and ground have been beautifully designed and maintained. They have literally thought of everything. The rooms are a great size and everything from the beds, linens, towels and robes are impeccable. This place is a hidden gem, away from the noise and business of the main city center, but close enough that they run a private shuttle to take you to the city center and back. The pool area is incredible. A beautiful infinity pool that overlooks water and Amalfi. It is easy to get lost in this place’s nooks and crannies and walkways. The staff at the pool area always there to get you anything needed. The only thing that was not great was the Michelin star restaurant. It was overpriced for the experience. The food seemed to be more experimental than flavourful. So I would recommend saving money and not eat here. The breakfast service is incredible! The food is tasty and staff are busy making sure guests have everything they need. The food at the traditional restaurant is AMAZING! We truly enjoyed the meals there and will be thinking about some of these dishes at home. Don’t miss out on the Spa, thermal experience that is included! In addition to all the amenities and Spa, the thing that really sets this place apart are the staff. All of them have been so friendly and attentive to guest needs. They have done an impressive job in setting and maintaining service standards - and it can be seen in everyone. Thank you to Jacopo, and Gennaro - shuttle team, Maria - reception, Fabio and Andrea - bar/restaurant team, Mariana - who worked pool and restaurant, the tall young lady with dark hair who seemed to work all the restaurants, the entire pool staff who took care of us, entire spa team - and to all the many others that make this place special.
This is a truly unique Hotel, unrivalled. We found the staff to be highly attentive, friendly, respectful and efficient. The Hotel is magnificent with breathtaking views from most locations. The Hotel is as clean as clean and everything is pre-thought of. So many little touches including little gifts most nights, make this wonderful escape so special. The food too was really tasty and plentiful. The courtessy shuttle to and from local restaurants and towns like Amalfy was very welcoming and the driver is such a lovely guy! The attention to detail is clear to see and it was a real pleasure to meet the remarkable staff who took time to ensure our expectations were surpassed. We enjoyed the history and traditions of this incredible hotel. I read about this resort some 12 years ago and have finnaly made the visit. Wow was it worth it - of course it was. Fantastic!
Magnificent staff. Incredible hotel. Best views. Wonderful Food and great service. They thought of everthing with lots of little gifts to make the stay unique.
Schoonheid ruimtes en rust en wellness
Ontbijt hebben wij liever dat we zelf wat kunnen kiezen
The staff and locations are incredible. The hotel is one of our favorite spots in all of our travels.
high end luxury luxury and quiet on the Amalfi Coast. We loved our time at the hotel and highly recommend for a peaceful trip. The staff was attentive and made sure we had all we needed to rest and relax after a hectic two week tour of Italy, The outdoor gym is amazing and the breakfast is top notch!
A former monastery turned into an intimate luxury retreat. The cliff-edge gardens and infinity pool are breathtaking. Rooms are silent, spotless, and filled with natural light. The staff strike that perfect balance between warmth and discretion. Dinner on the terrace as the sun sets over the sea
As we left our breakfast table after 9 fabulous nights at the Monastero, a delightful honeymooning couple on the next table asked us if we had ever stayed at another hotel as nice. We had asked ourselves the same question the previous evening and reminisced about a variety of hotels that we loved across several continents. However, we concluded that the Monastero Santa Rosa was very special in every way and had exceeded our expectations in its history, beauty, amazing location, and quality in all areas. Kudos to Ferdinando and every member of the team for their passion and generosity making for a truly memorable guest experience. You are the best of the best.
Tudo excelente Instalações e atendimento impecável
Truly wonderful stay.
This was our second visit within a twelve month period . Our first visit was for seven nights in a Deluxe Sea View Room. Everything about this trip was complete perfection in every aspect, hence the second trip. Only this time we learnt from our mistake….. we came for 9 nights not 7 ! We also upgraded to the Deluxe Suite (Salvia) which ticked all our boxes. Our only worry this time was whether perfection could be repeated a second time ? My goodness - what an absolute waste of worry that was. Not only did it deliver, it totally exceeded all our expectations once again. Truly sublime and utterly Magical, thank you to every single member of the SR team you all went above and beyond to make our second stay even better. Ferdinando the GM is truly lovely and really has Santa Rosa in his heart - it’s not actually just a team it’s a family Thank you to EVERYONE Antony & Helen
We were very much looking forward to our stay here, especially after reading the reviews here. We just spent five days there. On the positive side, the staff is really lovely and goes out of their way to be friendly and helpful. The outdoor areas are truly lovely. Our agent kept us busy but gave us one day off and we spent time at the pool - it was wonderful and beautiful. There are two negatives. It is a converted monastery. The room was very small and certainly not a place we looked forward to returning to. But the worst part of the experience was our dinner there. My fish dish was bland and uninteresting and my wife's pasta dish was inedible. We did appreciate the shuttle which was readily available to us. But I doubt we would return.
We have been returning to this beautiful hotel/spa for years now, The service is impeccable, the location unique and it’s among our favorite places to relax and unwind in private pampered luxury. It’s easy to see why it took, Bianca, the owner a decade to convert this ancient monastery previously run by the nuns into a world class people sanctuary. This place never ever disappoints.
Everything - this is our happy place 😃
Nothing
Me & my husband spent 4 nights here and I can honestly say it’s one of the best places I’ve ever stayed in. Words cannot describe just how beautiful this hotel is. Everything from our arrival to check out was just amazing. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful they went above and beyond to make sure our stay was unforgettable. The infinity pool was just unbelievable I have never seen a pool so beautiful, the views of the Amalfi Coast were breathtaking. The daily breakfast was cooked to order and was made from high quality local ingredients. The rooms were immaculate with daily treats left out for you to enjoy. The location was brilliant. I would highly recommend this picture perfect hotel. A true 5 star stay!
Servizi, cortesia e location incredibile
Un posto magico
My husband and I stayed at Monastero Santa Rosa for five nights in July 2025 for our honeymoon and were blown away with the beauty, grace, and charm of the hotel. It is situated on the mountain top with a stunning view of the Amalfi coast and the hotel has everything you need in the room and the resort at large. The spa was one of the best I have been to and the service received was excellent. The food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner was premium quality and the service across the board was the very best I have ever had. We were relieved this was the last stop on our honeymoon since nothing else would have come close. The hotel is so well preserved as well and retains it's history, which is truly unique since the place is one of a kind.
This was hands down the most amazing five star experience I have ever had! So many compliments I’ll never get them all in. The attention on arrival thank you Pompe and Maria, the tour, the beautiful property and gardens, the rooms so very well appointed they didn’t miss a thing! The welcome champagne and fruit and dessert, the amenities, the pillows, the bedding, the towel warmer, the shower, the potpourri in the closet every last detail was covered! The turn down service, the food, the spa and service was spectacular thank you Natalie! The view, the pool, thank you Luca and Carmine and Maryana! The restaurant fantastic thank you to Matteo and Andrea and Fabio. As far as the Michelin restaurant it was the best dinner I have had at a Michelin restaurant yet! Every dish was perfection and service was top notch. Do not miss dining at Il Refettorio!
We had the most magnificent stay at Monastero Santa Rosa! The hotel and grounds were so beautiful and well-maintained. We booked the smallest room they had (Crocus) but it didn't matter because there were so many beautiful places you wanted to be around the hotel, whether by the infinity pool, lounging in one of the many beautiful gardens, or enjoying the spa facilities. The food was unbelievable as was the service. Everyone at the hotel treated us like we were their favorite guests. We hope to go back!!

Heaven on earth especially if u like flowers…传说中的世外桃源
Simply incredible. The most beautiful place we’ve ever stayed.
Enjoyed a Spa day and it was wonderful. Beautiful location and terrific services. I especially enjoyed the facial treatment. Although, they advertised thermal pools it was just a normal spa room with hot tub, sauna, steam bath, foot bath and rain/misty shower. I was expecting more of a natural hot springs from the “thermal pools” term, but fully enjoyed what they had to offer.
Beautiful property - from the moment we arrived and were given lemon water and a moment to stand and take in the view- to the second we left. A tranquil hotel that had an air of calm, nodded to its enchanting history but had every possible luxury needed. Staff kindly gave us a birthday cake for my partner’s birthday, little treats on the pillow each day, and there was impeccable service - from the restaurant and reception to the pool and shuttles to town. Worth eating in the Michelin-starred restaurant at least once. Can’t wait to return.
Fantastic, very friendly staff. My wife and I had a fantastic experience. Hotel free shuttle can take you to Amalfi village and there either you can spend time around or take the ferry to Positano (very convenient).
The smell of herbs everywhere.
It is hard to find enough superlatives to describe this magical place. Every aspect of our stay was among the best that we have ever experienced starting from our welcome, to the superbly appointed rooms, stunning views, gardens, pool, and spa. The food is locally sourced, delicious, and beautifully presented. Do not miss a meal at the Michelin-starred restaurant - they prepared superb vegetarian options for us. Above all, it really seemed like every member of the staff could not do enough for us. We will remember our stay fondly and we hope to come back to this oasis of understated luxury, quietude, and beauty.
Hospitality out of this world! Our stay started with a wonderful tour, welcomed to our room with prosecco, treats and strawberries after a very long and tedious day of travelling. Beautiful grounds and amenities. So close to the town of Amalfi and Conca dei Marini. Excellent spa services - we felt so pampered. We had a private driver and tour of Pompei followed by lunch at Bosco De'Medici winery. Encouraged to use the special ordering system for breakfast in our room, and the turn down service always had little stories in scrolls and sweets. We loved the local ceramic kitchenware at breakfast, and can't say enough wonderful things about the servers and food! We loved the décor and all the finishing touches harkening back to when the property was a cloister. The concierge staff went over and above to help us ship some souvenirs back to Canada via courier to keep our suitcases light. A gorgeous setting, heated pool, restaurants, beautiful sun terrace and a very dreamy visit! 10/10 and hope to stay again one day.
A hotel with perfection in mind. It has beautiful pool and gardens. Staff are friendly and helpful in every way.
A fantastic hotel with excellent facilities and friendly staff, set on the cliffs overlooking Amalfi. The gardens and spa provide a great escape from the bustle of nearby towns and villages. The hotel provides a courtesy shuttle to and from nearby Amalfi, which is very helpful for those looking to avoid driving on the narrow/ busy coastal roads. The dining experience at their Il Refettorio restaurant is wonderful and we enjoyed the food throughout our stay. Highly recommend.
The Monestero Santa Rosa was the BEST HOTEL THAT I HAVE STAYED IN IN MY WHOLE LIFE. Had a beautiful balcony room facing the Amalfi Coast 3000 ft below us. Stayed 10 nights and the Service and The food was AMAZING. The Infinity pool is tremendous and everyone working there CAN'T DO ENOUGH FOR YOU !! A bit pricey at $2200 a night but it was a LIFETIME EXPERIENCE ♥️♥️🇮🇹🇮🇹
Stunning location, courteous staff, incredible room and little gifts placed throughout the stay. Plentiful breakfast. Use of the spa was a nice treat.
Nothing
A very beautiful building, carefully renovated, but far from places where tourists are, from the restaurants, so you definitely spend time in the hotel. An authentic abbey where monks once lived, you can find many old elements here, e.g. a confessional. Beautiful swimming pool, amazingly situated on a cliff, good restaurant, spa.
The pool is beautiful and in an amazing location, but during the day it is full of seagulls bathing in it, which was both nice and uncomfortable for the people, the birds were large, they are not afraid of people, and of course there is the question of the cleanliness of the water. which I will skip. The selection of breakfast dishes is quite modest, everything was a la carte, not for everyone. The room is quite spacious, but since the interiors are former cells, you can imagine how monks lived here. The spa looks amazing in the photos, but spa inside was quite average in my opinion, they have an outdoor bed, but the outside space itself was also not as stunning as we experiences in some Four Seasons Resorts. It is definitely worth coming here if you are looking for a place that is far from noisy touristic places, an authentic abbey and a nicely located swimming pool, but I don't think we will come back, please forgive us, it wasn't for us, although the views from the room window were really amazing and unforgettable...
The property, its grounds, staff and services were top notch. One might say that we paid high prices for all of that, but this was the only place we’d wished we were staying longer. The way they welcomed us was unique and memorable.
The most picturesque, peaceful and upscale property in the Amalfi Coast. The resort was previously a monastery and maintains the meditative environment while providing top notch service and facilities. The pool is built into a cliff overlooking the sea, the dining areas are gorgeous and share the same view of the sea and gardens. The gardens are incredible, they rival the highly praised gardens of Ravello and offer a sanctuary in which to relax after traveling around the coast. We did a few day tips which are easy to plan using private transfer or the hotels shuttle to Amalfi from where you can take ferries and busses to other locations on the coast. The spa is fabulous offering hot and wet facilities and a long list of spa treatments. Breakfast is included and in itself is an experience is luxury travel. Highly recommend if you are looking for a fabulous break from the crowded of the coast.
We stayed here for my wife’s 50th birthday without the children. It was a magical experience. The monastery is stunning and has an incredible infinity pool right on the cliff edge. The concierge was extremely helpful via what’s app and booked a lot for us including a private boat trips to capri and restaurants. The complementary shuttle car was available to Amalfi throughout the day and evening. This was particularly helpful given the cost of taxis along the Amalfi coast.
The best hotel that I have ever stayed in in my entire life. The grounds and pool are undescribable. The guest suites are amazing. All the employees can't do enough for you. Breakfast is terrific and the Michelin Star restaurant well needless to say YOU HAVE TO TRY IT FOR YOURSELF
The most amazing place ever. Beautiful hotel and pool. Spa is incredible and the staff was just so professional. Unforgettable
I've been following Monastero on instagram for 5 years and we just got back from a beautiful stay. When I realized the fact that they invented the sfogliatella pastry, (mu husbands favorite), I knew we had to go. The property and grounds are beautiful, impeccably kept. The infinity pool is worth the price of admission. Room was comfortable with twice daily housekeeping. The staff, whether at the reception, bar, pool, or restaurants were gracious and helpful. They took care of our every need without issue. With only 20 rooms, its quiet and peaceful. From the beginning to the end, a great experience. Its one of those places that you want everyone to know you went to, but don't want to tell anyone for fear it will become too popular and lose its charm. You wont be disappointed.
Everything from the service, decor, views, food, amenities, accommodations were stunning and perfect. The staff at this property really cares and shows true genuine attentiveness and hospitality. They went above and beyond to make our celebration memorable and special. Thank you for everything and making this a trip of a lifetime for us.
THE most amazing hotel anywhere around as far as I could tell. Love that they do not allow children. I love children, but not on my vacation.
Time at the monastero is everything you might expect for a 5 star resort experience with some notable distinctions. Amazing attention to detail and systems of management, result in a sense of tranquility which is hugely amplified by the monastery setting. This really can't be overstated. The peaceful environment they create here is quite precious. Secondly, having a limited number guests (20), means that there is a sense of privacy missing from some resorts or hotels. Thirdly, the views are literally some of the best photos from our trip. Fourthly, the generosity and warmth of the staff in every area is 100% consistent. A great credit to management. Loved our stay. Obviously not an every holiday option, but a special stay that will be remembered for a very long time.
Leaving. Not staying long enough.
Eccellenza service, peaceful, good food, free shuttle, friendly staffs… it would be great if there is a yoga or meditation class.
Incredible accommodations, staff and service! A unique luxury experience filled with lots of little extras. They think of everything!
One of best and most unique hotels I’ve stayed in. Excellent hotel and staff.
Point blank this is the finest hotel my wife and I have ever stayed at. We had just spent a week touring Venice, Florence and Rome which both exciting but exhausting. Upon arriving the monastero we were literally in awe of the views from every window as we toured the property. Our room, Rosemarinus, was even more breathtaking. Every possible detail that a hotel could consider was done in this room. Incredible views. luxurious bathroom, twice a day room cleaning and the most comfortable beds imaginable. We were so entralled by this property that we canceled plans on day two of our six days here because we didn't want to leave. The pool could possibly be the best in the entire amalfi coast and with only 20 rooms in the hotel you always felt a sense of deep peace and relaxation. The food likewise was impeccable and some of the best we had on the coast. There is a michelin starred restaurant but also a more casual option which we ate at for dinner two nights. The spa likewise was incredible with every imaginable offering and a beautiful layout. Not to be missed during your stay. Try the Nun's Escape which is a two hour massage, facial, hot stone experience. Life changing. The thing that truly sets this place apart is the service however. The thoughtfulness. The anticipation of needs. The lack of pretense and fussiness about it. Anything we asked for was taken care of without explanation and immediately. As an example whenever we ordered something to the room or needed help it was there in minutes. The concierge also helped us to set up every aspect of the week before we even arrived and made suggestions on everything we did based on needs and price. Boat tours, beach clubs, restaurant reservations. Free car service to amalfi. The last night of the trip we were eating in the restaurant and the Head Manager was asking us about our stay. My wife mentioned in passing that she had fallen in love with a set of dishes they used during breakfast service and the next morning at check out there was a bag with some of the dishes as a parting gift. This place is not cheap but if you want to treat yourself to an immersive, deeply peaceful. one of a kind experience that you will never forget then this place is an absolute must.
Everything. Incredible service and views. It was the best hotel we’ve ever stayed in.
Nothing
Best hotel I have ever stayed at and I’ve travelled. Attention to detail, relaxed excellence, superb food and nothing too much of a problem. This is a small hotel so very intimate and the staff get to know you quickly which allows them to be proactive. The food is also exceptional. Breakfast is a la carte, all usual offerings hot and cold but at a higher standard and freshly prepared. This is supported by a seasonal breakfast menu of absolutely stunning dishes which I joyfully worked my way through. If you like, they have a Michelin star restaurant to support their standard dinner restaurant. The starred restaurant il Refetorrio was easily the best food we had of the week and we ate out at other places too such as “Glicine”. The little extras also make it feel like it’s all about you and not about money. Bubbles on arrival, cakes, complimentary mini bar, suncream if needed, bottled water and the shuttle which will drop/collect you anywhere local are all added value and at your service. The rooms, the views the Spa all made for an unforgettable experience.
My favorite hotel in Italy so far. The hotel is amazing and not crowded at all. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. We will definitely come back again.
Just perfect! If you are looking for a special place with a soul, caring staff, beautiful gardens and views… this is it. We loved it .. an exquisite setting with exemplary service and care…. We will definitely be back. Thank you! Ps fabulous pottery shop (Piccadilly) is five mins down the hill
This is my first time ever writing a review, but our experience here prompted me to take the time to do so. My family and I just stayed 3 nights in amalfi last week. Friends told us about spa. It was full but the girl at the Spa desk gave us chance to be there! Such a dream!Perfect location, amazing staff. The best massage ever! Rosalie and the other lady at the spa desk went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time . We were celebrating my sister 60th - The spa staff they truly try to make your experience very personal and very memorable. Also, the views from the gardens are amazing. In the evening, sitting at the bar is priceless. I can't wait to go back again!
A very special hotel, an amazing location with a very beautiful view, a special pool with a sea view, the hotel staff is amazing
Nothing
A truly magical experience, from the moment we got there we knew how special this was going to be. Each and every member of staff are a real credit to this hotel, every one of them are friendly, helpful & so attentive to your every need. Nothing is too much trouble. This hotel is incredible, there is so much i want to say, the service you receive is exceptional, the quality of food & drinks are some of the best we have ever had, the gardens are so stunning and the smells you get as you walk past are beautiful & the views are breathtaking. We used the Spa and the Free shuttle service, and yet again these were both amazing experiences, the ladies in the spa made us feel completely relaxed and the driver was so informative of the local area and really friendly. The turn down service was the best we have ever had, the attention to detail is amazing and we absolutely loved all of our little gifts that we were left each night. Read up about “sfogliatella”, you get some of these delights when you first arrive, the history of them is amazing. Would like to say thank you to each and everyone of the staff, (reception, bar, restaurant, pool, cleaners, gardeners, spa, drivers, This was a special holiday for us as we were celebrating our milestone birthdays and our wedding anniversary, this is the finest luxury hotel we have ever stayed, and if you are looking for a place to escape the outside world…… then you have found it!
The most magical place I've ever seen. We are absolutely speechless
We LOVED EVERYTHING!
views, history, pool, gardens, staff and food all fantastic
Had an issue with electrics in our room(lights wouldn't turn off) so we had to have the power shut down completely overnight..which wasn't ideal....as we also lost air con. Had to call them back in the morning to turn the power back on. room on the small size but very pleasant and appreciate they are working within an old building. Restaurant was very quiet..only us and one other table for dinner...
Elegant and luxurious stay. Staff very helpful and polite. The room was comfortable and they did housekeeping twice a day. The property is so green and has comfortable sitouts everywhere. The infinity pool is amazing and so is the thermal spa which was complimentary. They even gave us a farewell gift of tomato sauce and pasta which we loved. This clearly is one of my best stays ever - i have stayed across 5 stars over the world but this experience is the most memorable and i will always remember. Thanks Team Monastero S & R!
Nothing at all. Perfect.
Phenomenal. Breathtakingly beautiful. Staff was wonderful. Incredible location and property
Nothing, I liked absolutely everything. Fantastic!
Amazing location at the cliff side Monastery feel was awesome Check out the sun terrace, best view on the whole property
The Michelin star restaurant was closed :(
Amazing hotel
The food was disappointing
Everything was excellent. The best hotel in Italy. I would recommend everyone to go there
Absolutely nothing.
Every part of this property was exceptional. The rooms are simply beautiful and the views are stunning. The service was unparalleled.
All the praise people have heaped on Monastero Santa Rosa is deserved. It’s truly an amazing place. A refuge from the bustle of nearby towns and just steps from traffic on a main artery yet in a hushed world of its own. Rather than repeat many of the same phrases and thoughts found in other reviews, 2 words come to mind: Gracious and Intuitive. During our brief 3 night stay between a week in Cinque Terre and a week on Sicily, my wife and I felt saved as an injured person might upon entering a hospital. Serenity abounds. In a most understated manner, the staff - Reception, Housekeeping, Restaurant and Pool - could not be more helpful and, yes…more gracious. Needs and wishes were anticipated. It all reflects well on the training and selection of personnel. The only minor skirmish occurred at the end of our scheduled spa treatments, but that was quickly resolved. The spa, as almost everyone mentions, is a sight to behold and experience. Our only regret? The need to fulfill obligations in Sicily after just 3 nights.
We loved our stay here -a very special place - beautiful hotel with fantastic service - absolutely stunning position and superb food!
I love everything! Staff and service are excellent and over the top!
perfect in every sense
nothing
elegant. tranquil, incredible views, warm attentive staff. infinity pool, lush grounds, amazing Michelin starred resto

Zero
This is quite simply the most magnificent hotel I have ever stayed. The attention to detail of the rooms and the grounds are incredible. Everywhere you look is another amazing picture. The pool is divine, the view’s are sensational. The Michelin star restaurant is terrific, the casual dining is delicious, the supplied breakfast is heavenly. You will feel incredibly welcomed by the amazing staff who were so thoughtful and considerate. I cannot recommend the Monestro highly enough, do yourself the favor and stay here. It will change your life.
Beautiful, quiet, peaceful grounds. Michelin Restaurant was terrible... the food was flavourless and had extremely strange flavour combinations. Not sure how they got a michelin star as we have eaten at many fine dining restaurants and this is not it.
