There is no heating in the room and 1 towel only. On request for a heater, I was given an itchy extra blanket and told I could 1 more towel in the morning. It is a very cold room and I was very disappointed 😞

Reviewed Aug 2, 2026Very comfy bed. Free Parking. Excellent heater in room. Spacious and well setup. Handy to everyone (although the road is a bit busy, has a wee bit of traffic noise - just a wee bit). Shower good. Lovely and clean and modern.
We stayed 2 nights. The neighbouring room had a party until 2am the first night (booze bottles clanking and loud talking outside the room by many men), then they were noisey again at 7am cleaning up the glass bottles. :( ....thankfully they weren't there the 2nd night and we were able to have a better nights sleep that night.

I don't think it's competitive with other accommodation establishments like Airbnb which offer more of a modern luxurious feel.

Breakfast was well priced for a buffet but the amount of food on offer was disappointing, they never refilled so we paid all that money for a slice of bacon and scrambled eggs my husband got last sausage and I got last tomato, and we got there at 7am.

Reviewed May 3, 2026The property was clean, quiet and had a lovely, warm heater in the room. Wi-fi worked well and the man at reception gave us clear instructions, as well as a warm welcome. The decor is quaint, but with the name Settlers, we were not expecting or looking for anything modern.
The door was difficult to lock/open with the key. Probably needs some maintenance.

Reviewed Apr 6, 2026Bigger than a standard hotel room, it was very comfortable and has a good size window to let in loads of fresh air. The hotel includes a laundry room (paid washing machine) with a free dryer. Friendly staff, there is plenty of parking and easy access to the rooms. Located in the city, its about 5 minutes drive to the nearest supermarket, or 15-20 minutes walk. The Hātea Loop walking trail is about 5-10 minutes walk away.
The decor is a little outdated.

Reviewed Apr 6, 2026We appreciated the attitude and care of the staff member who serviced our room. The grounds are really spacious and well cared for and the pool looked clean and inviting. Breakfast was quite poor. The first morning it was cold and had not been replenished where the trays were empty. day 2 was much improved though not up to standard. Decor of the hotel is in need of freshening ,having been very well done many years ago but quite shabby now. A handy position for access to the main road and the Basin, which is a great area to visit.

Reviewed Apr 5, 2026We only stay for one night. So it was perfect. Staff were great and breakfast was nice. Bacon, eggs, hash brown, spaghetti, sausages, toast, muffins, continental breakfast, fruit salad, a range of toast spread. Coffee machine. Lots of parking and east access to our room.
