My villa was beautiful and I felt like I was the only one at the resort. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. All my meals great.
Amazing location, little bit isolated, but I love it. Large beautiful territory, birdsong, ocean nearby, big swimming pool.
Beautiful location Very serene quiet Best location in Bali
Restaurant could serve better breakfast
The pool, the grounds and the staff are all wonderful and the villa was very comfortable and unique. There is a great restaurant onsite! Only a short walk away there are a few more that you can find, each with their own charm.
Sound of crashing waves. Room was large and well equipped. Grounds lovely to walk in.
Mostly did not see other people other than staff as large property with space between rooms. Felt isolated. Too far to walk to Warung or alternative nearly one hr
Everything at resort great but to eat out of resort too far to walk over 40 min. Food great. Felt like only person at resort
Das Meer, die Natur toppppp
Badezimmer sehr veraltet
Perfect for us as we wanted to relax after travelling a lot, but not much around if you
Garden was beautiful set up
Front of the beach but you can’t swim
Villa was awesome. Location stunningly beautiful.
The property is charming, and the pool is great.
The property is very understaffed, so we were left feeling neglected - and our expectations are not very high. There is a feeling of Miss Haversham about the place. Leaving us imagining what it would have like in its hay day. Laundry was 4 times more expensive than anywhere else we stayed and we could only pay that in cash, even though Gajah Mina was on the invoice. We were also disappointed to discover our minimal breakfast options (paid for and included) was a lesser version than other villas. This made us feel like we were somehow less valued than other guests (we booked the last villa available) - so we went out for breakfast after the first day (lots of great options in Balian) and we left Balian a day early. We had to walk past the neighbour's dogs (to get to Balian town and beach) who had developed a 'pack' mentality and one even nipped my daughter! So take a stick/handbag when walking into town and don't ask to borrow the hotel's umbrella if it's chucking it down, as they are "only for use in reception"...
Peaceful private beautiful garden - great views, lovely pool
Sliding door didn’t open and shut smoothly
Very relaxed old school Bali in a semi rural setting. Very good value. Very good surf. Very friendly with few people around.
A very wonderful relaxing and revitalising 10 days. Food and staff were very good. All in a semi-rural location with very good surf. Old school Bali. Excellent value for money. Only downside is you are 3 hours+ drive from the airport. Well worth it. We will definitely be back.
You feel like you are walking around a 100 year old secret garden. Private black sand beach, incredible food, views, walks. The craftsmanship on all facilities has stood the test of time.
The ant situation in my room. The spray helped.
This resort would have been stunning when it opened. Needs some TLC however I love older places filled with character so for me it was fantastic - just be prepared for a rustic, run-down experience. Pricing is affordable. The restaurant was delicious and so cheap!
Well! Where do I start? We loved this place. It was a very quiet time of year, a bonus for us!! We have a villa that is close to the pool and the ocean view. This place is rustic, it's out of the way, and a hidden gem. It is value for money, quiet (apart from the ocean crashing on the cliffs at night and the beautiful sound of the birds and the insects). We stayed 7 nights. Now Balian is a very quiet place and there are a few different accomodations in the area, but not a great deal to choose from. We were there on our round Bali trip and I was looking for locations for my next retreat. It is a very quiet place. So if you are looking for busy, shopping, night life. Do not visit Balian. But those of you who love peace and quiet and want to get away from it all. Especially if you love surfing, then this little hideaway is for you. It definitely suits couples. We found some wonderful eating places in the area and there is a great restaurant on site, where you can have all your meals. They are rated for their food and the qualitiy. I highly recommend this place if you are looking to get away from it all and want a break that is nice and quiet. It is gorgeous and the swimming pool it amazing. There is a wondeful nature walk (really rustic) and it takes you down to a beach that you can walk for miles and see no one (it's all volcanic sand, so be prepared to get black feet lol). Anyways we love it and I will definitely be going back there again very soon. What a wonderful gem !! Thank you sooooo much !!
There was nothing to dislike
Location and staff.
The whipper-snipper used around the room every morning. No curtains on the east facing windows. Don't expect a sleep in.
Crashing waves, nature, beach walking Imagine being literally two out three people walking on a deserted tropical beach. The food is really good, showers and bath great and then the friendliness of the staff. This place might seem rustic at first and don’t go if you want perfect corporate bling. This place is about nature, the sea and friendship,
Not much, it’s a homely beautiful place
Good breakfast, not too fancy.
The beach access wasn’t that good.
Incredibly beautiful garden, private villas, outdoor kitchen and outdoor shower. Loved everything. The view from the restaurant over the cove and beach was stunning. Nice pool and a big yoga space!
The food at breakfast took about an hour, but it wasn't much of a problem for us. Unfortunately the beaches were littered with rubbish due to the wet season setting in and all the rubbish being washed down the river.
Beautiful setting, quiet cove walking distance to the other beaches. Each 'villa' was very private from the others, lovely pool.
Beautiful surroundings with restaurant/outside eating area andviews of Hidden Bay. Great for relaxing. Spacious layout of individual bungalows in well maintained gardens. Good largish pool.
As the place is tucked away and you don't have transport it's a bit of a trek up and down a bit of steep road to go to a store. But the security guy was good and gave me a lift on his bike
⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ Gajah Mina Beach Resort is truly a hidden gem! The property boasts an astonishing garden that feels like stepping into a tropical paradise. Our bungalow was delightful, complete with a private garden and an outdoor shower under the sky—an experience we absolutely loved. The photos on Booking.com don’t do justice to how magical this place truly is. It’s surrounded by lush nature, teeming with vibrant fauna and flora. There’s even a private mini beach, perfect for a tranquil escape. The only downside was the cleanliness of the villa. There was quite a bit of dust and cobwebs, which made it feel like the cleaning is more superficial than thorough. Overall, the unique charm and serene atmosphere of the resort make it worth a visit. A little more attention to cleanliness would make this place perfect!

Great cottage, cute and private. Yoga facilities and gorgeous pool. Food was great too. Super friendly staff.
Location and sea view are beautiful. Super quiet except for the waves braking on the rocks in the water. For me personally it made the stay even better. Pool is nice and clean. Breakfast is really good.
The location
Everything else
Breakfast was good, though a plate of the fruits should be included. Location is perfect, environment is quiet, including monotonous sound of crashing waves...
Would wish staff to be more positive and helpful (with few exceptions)
It's perfect. Stunning views. Stunning grounds. Food awesome. Pool beautiful. They have a security guard who walks the grounds at night. Made was absolutely awesome. Needs a raise.
My only complaint would be the unhelpfulness of some of the young staff. Receptionist was on his phone everytime I went to make inquiries. And left on my own to leave property after 5 days. Having to refill my own bottles of drinking water at the resturant. There is a bit of a stink at times.
The staff was amazing and really really helpful!!! Thank you very much for your great service!!!
A nice place. A great stay, thoroughly recommend it. Some fantastic walks and the food at the restaurant was great. The room was nice.
It's seen better days, and the grounds need a bit of TLC.
Quite and a great pool
Location is away from surf beach, needed a scooter to get to around
Real Bali experience in gorgeous setting
Beautiful meditative place. Great staff who made sure we were as comfortable as possible. When it rained they provided us with an umbrella. I miss it already and will definitely come again. Yulia
Beautiful property with outdoor shower - garden. Beach view however big waves and not possible to swim. Amazing nature surrounding.
Bigger selection of breakfast meals.
If you are looking for a quiet place, that's it. The restaurant delivers yummy food and the rooms are well equipped. Endless beaches and a bat cave near by. And you can get here a really good massage too.
A bit of paint here and there would help.
If you are looking for a quiet place, that's it. The restaurant delivers yummy food and the rooms are well equipped. Endless beaches and a bat cave near by. And you can get here a really good massage too. Plenty of restaurants and warungs in walking distance.
The scenery and views were amazing. Staff friendly
Restaurant was poor. Breakfast worse. Plus they have a 2.5% uplift on any payments with cards which is profit creation. Plus they dont tell you beforehand, only when you arrive. Not every place dose this despite what they say.
Beautiful stay, fantastic outdoor shower and The room had everything you need.
All .. and GEDE was fantastic with us. We forgot to pay the breakfast and he help us after thé check-out.. thanks GEDE for your attitude ....
Nothing
Location is amazing the bungalows really beautiful
Gajah Mina Resort in Bali is a paradise on Earth :) We spending a whole month there was an excellent decision. From the sound of the ocean to the beautiful garden and pool, every aspect of this place exudes peace and luxury. The villa overlooking the ocean is the icing on the cake, and the service - the best it can be - professional, caring and fulfilling every wish - what more could you want? Special mention to the waiter Made, who made us feel at home and learned a lot about Bali. The resort deserves 5 stars, even though it needs a little refreshing. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an unforgettable holiday in this area of Bali.
Beautiful gardens, comfortable villa - we had the 3 bed one with the pool - and lovely communal swimming pool
Nothing
Great pool Nice gardens Private room Secluded Good restaurant
2 hour travel time for 54km. (Not property’s fault)
Private bungalows and beautiful views of the beach and the rocks! Huge pool and the breakfast area has a fabulous view of Secret and Lizard Beach. A short walking distance to long walking beaches in each direction.
We arrived later than expected, thankfully the staff called via WhatsApp to ask what time we would arrive. Some staff had to stay to ensure we had key. Above and beyond and for that we were very grateful 🙏🏻 Lovely stay, comfortable rooms, good sleep and a beautiful view for breakfast.
Very beautiful maintained. Quiet. Exquisite beaches reachable by a 10 minute walk. No one at the beach for miles and miles. The food at the restay is excellent. The staff is relaxed and friendly. Fantastic Balinese yoga teacher, Nicky, five minute walk from the property.
An amazing quiet relaxed hotel. The majority of the time, we had the whole pool to ourselves. Short stroll to the main beach and warungs. Easy to ride scooters.
Incredible views of tiny bays and huge oceans, really clean, quiet and spacious cottages with lots of privacy, huge swimming pool and gardens.
Definitely not enough staff! The staff are sweet and try to be responsive but service in the restaurant is very slow because not enough staff. I heard that prior to covid there were 35 staff but now there’s only 12. And all the rooms were full so the same staff were juggling reception and the restaurant.
Breakfast was included, good restaurant, quite location while only being a five minute walk to the main beach.
Lovely property with great view over little ocean inlet
Nothing worth mentioning
The property is absolutely amazing! Beautiful garden, beautiful beach, nice pool, quiet and peaceful. Very nice rooms, the owner did a really good job conserving the natural environment.
The sofa bed wasn’t actually a sofa bed, just a small sofa. And when I asked to change our room because of that they didn’t respect the price that booking.com has, the check in process was very unprofessional and we were very tired with 2 little kids, nobody help us with the luggage, it was raining and the room was very far from the parking. In general the staff was very unprofessional, not all of them. The restaurant is a little expensive also. The cleaning guys went to our room to give me back my sunglasses that I forgot in the other room, (appreciate that) but my partner was naked after her shower and they just were standing up looking at her for ages like if it was ok until she realised and I had to run to close the curtains. When they were walking off one even turn around to have another look… they definitely should have come back 5 minutes later to wait for her to get dress but they just decided to just stay and look for as long as they could. Terrible stuff.
magic incredible beautiful
The location of this hotel is beautiful with well-maintained gardens attracting many butterflies and birds, a great sea view from the restaurant area and well positioned to see some great sunsets. The villas are private and very comfortable. However, something you may want to consider when booking is accessibility to the en suite bathrooms and the outdoor shower. Some of the villas have a large step and narrow doors, if this may be a problem you should consider discussing it with the hotel. The restaurant is okay, but there are better options a ten to fifteen minutes’ walk away. The breakfast too was okay, but perhaps not if you have a big appetite. The pool area was good and quite well maintained. A nice beach area too, although again some deep steps to reach it.
We knew from previous reviews that the service in the restaurant could be slow but was okay with this in the evening, although really did not expect it at breakfast. It is a good job we had nothing planned! May want to discuss with the hotel if a steep step and narrow doors may be a problem.
The ambiance is great. Staff are really nice. Beautiful and quiet remote location. Close to the beach, yoga, and restaurants. Their own restaurant is really nice. They were very responsive and fixed some things that needed to be fixed And I loved the outdoor shower!
My room was advertised as Seaview. It was facing the sea, but you couldn't really see the water because of the trees. I suggested that they advertise it as "partial" Seaview instead. But it was a really nice room.
Good for healing
The beach not for swimming
Beautiful gardens and scenery, pool, resort.
Needs more activities in the resort, more variety for breakfast . Such as buffet breakfast.
The resort is located on a scenic cliff area in a beautiful garden landscape, with lots of birds singing in the morning. The pool is long, nice and clean. The bungalows were nice and clean (apart from the occasional cockroach or other small wildlife) and the large double bed (made with two separate mattresses) was comfortable, hot shower and aircons were working well. The home-made bread for breakfast was nice. The staff was nice, as long as there were no issues to discuss/ resolve (see below). For the bungalows and the garden and cliff landscape with the small ‘private’ beach, I would give four to five stars, if the issues described below were not tarnishing the experience a bit.
We booked two bungalows through booking.com, and expected to pay the price agreed on there. We were then asked to pay an additional 2% credit card charge - something none of the other 15+ hotels we stayed during this trip charged. Next we were shown ‘our’ bungalows, described on booking.com as two room bungalows with a bedroom with a double bed, and a separate living room with a sofa bed. What we got were bungalows with only a single bedroom with one large bed (the 1.2 meter sofa in there can hardly be called a sofa bed). When we pointed out that we booked bungalows with a separate living room, we were simply told to contact booking.com if we have an issue with this booking… It appears to us that it would certainly be the hotel’s responsibility to make sure that the description on the booking platform matches what they actually provide. The price we paid for the bungalows is not too high for the single room bungalows, but if you expect a two-room bungalow with a bed in each room as advertised, and the response you get from the hotel is a sloppy “talk to booking.com if you are not happy”, than that is certainly not good. The drinking water provided in the room is chlorinated tap water. The choice for breakfast was very limited. Two slices of bread with butter and jam was the top choice. Check-out time is 11am. When we asked whether it would be possible to check out around 12, we were told that this is not possible. When we passed by those bungalows again at 1pm, both bungalows were still in the same state as when we left (the beds not made, rooms not cleaned, nobody there…). We saw one other guest in the resort the whole time we were there…
The staff were happy and helpful
Nothing
Quiet peaceful area Close to restaurants Loved cute medieval feeling villas
Location 2 hrs away from airport
It was 8 years since last being at Gajah Mina and some of the improvements have worked.
Still advertise the day spa being up.on the point and it was an amazing place to have a massage, unfortunately they don't use it any more and haven't for over a year. Toilet blocked up while there.
Location is beautiful. The view from the restaurant and the secret bay are amazing. Room is very comfortable and I liked the style of the room, very cosy.
We had issues with our toilet. The first day it didn’t flush anymore and there was a lot of water coming down. We texted the management and they said they will fix it after lunch, once we got home in the night the toilet was still in the same condition as it was when we left. When we tried to contact them about it there was no answer. You can see that te staff that works here really tries their best and they work so hard. But there is just a lack of management.
Amazing place to stay! Very beautiful nature, ocean view😍 Silence
Location was amazing
Ac didn’t really cool the room.
Peace and Quiet location and the room was good 👍
A little too far from Kuta. But I was very happy with the resorts spacious and maintained gardens
This place is amazing, the use of the space and architecture are awesome. The villas are private and surrounded by nature, big swimming pool, friendly staff. My new favourite place in Balian.
