Istana Balian - Boutique Resort

.

.

The property is so tidy, clean rooms and a very comfy bed. Istana is owned and ran by a very beautiful family who are very welcoming to everyone. Amazing food and a great pool.

The quiet area, fantastic location. Plenty to see when walking. Safe. Wonderful breakfast.

Not a thing to complain about.

Fantastic Little Resort. Excellent Facilities, fantastic staff. Great location. And AFL on TV.

Nothing to not like.

Great staff and location.

Great staff comfortable rooms Very quiet and delicious breakfast in our rate. It is not super fancy but very safe and friendly.

Bit more hot water please

Beautiful property with very relaxing vibes! They also helped us book a ride with an experienced local driver to explore other areas in Bali. The curry served by the restaurant was exceptional! Would come back :)

Location is a few minutes walk to the beach. Made to order breakfast with plenty of choice. Food at the restaurant is very good. Sometimes there was a bit of a wait, but this seemed to be because everything was made from scratch and this was evident in the quality of the meals. Pool and gardens are very pleasant. Good staff and friendly vibe.

Not really a criticism, but the garden rooms are very dark. I think the rooms upstairs would be brighter and have a better view.

Absolutely everything.

Nothing. It was fantastic

The room was amazing 😍 the view and vibe was so beautiful

The food was mosty bule style but I can understand it however there would be more vegan vegetarian options

La proximité de la plage à 50 mètres

L'entretien des bungalow

The owners were very, very wonderful and the restaurant food was delicious and I could’ve stayed there longer, but I had to continue on my journey otherwise I would’ve gladly stayed for a lot more time. Interesting loyal and wonderful guest also .

Too many stairs for me as l am an elderly solo traveler . Certainly moved in to their wonderful place in that condition . Just had to move closer to the Airport l would too soon be departing from .

Everthing. The room, the people, the food, the great pool and the beach with the very small café and its owners. Nova the cab driver advised by the hotel gives a great value for money.

We liked everything

I like everything about this hotel. The rooms are well maintained and comfortable, the staff are great and the food is fantastic, in fact lots of people who stay at other hotels go there for dinner.

No complaints

We loved this property to stay at. We only stayed 1 night but it was great, the staff are amazing the food was fantastic and priced right, cold drinks, beautiful views and had a really lovely feel to it, tge resturant also play all the Aussie sports, AFL, NRL etc. We met the owner who were really lovely people. We will be going back and staying longer next time as we ride around the island seeing and experiencing different things.

The furniture is a little dark in some of the rooms but nothing to complain about.

Family friendly

Beautiful property, beautiful people! We were given a beautiful room with ocean views, huge, spacious, clean and comfortable.

Nothing!

Lovely quiet location, superb friendly staff and clean and comfortable rooms. My daughter and I truly loved our stay at Istana Balian

Wish we could have stayed longer!!

The room was large, comfortable and had a flexible power strip making it easy to charge all our devices! We also had a large deck and could see the surf in the ocean at a distance. The food was very good and so was the staff. One of our best stays! (We added two days to our stay). We walked to the ocean, to Secret Beach and along the ocean (after walking down a street in town.)

Great quite location. Only a 5 minute walk to the beach.

Sun loungers at the pool sides need clean covers as was dirty.

I liked the spacious comfort of my room and verandah, the on site restaurant and exceptional staff - it felt like being with family. Every attention was given to my comfort and wellbeing

Nothing

It’s authentic Bali and very clean. Staff and owners are very welcoming and attentive.

Well positioned, extra room upstairs nice veiw

Tout était super pour cette étape d’une nuit entre Java et Ubud! Au calme, à 4min de la plage pour un dîner avec vue. L’hôtel est super propre, la team adorable, le resto super! Dommage qu’on ne reste qu’une nuit

Rien

The garden room was very comfortable and private. The food at the restaurant was excellent. All of the staff were professional and helpful. Location was great - 2 min walk from excellent yoga at "Nick Yoga", and short walk to massage spa Bella Spa. Secret Bay Spa was also great, 10 min walk.

The pool was on the small side but still good to cool off.

Amazing villas

We loved the location and the rooms. The pool and pool area was fantastic. The staff were incredible and the food was delicious. We had a fantastic time and will definitely be back.

The room and pool were amazing food was good staff were lovely and view was brilliant

Toilet kept running......

Perfect location with a lovely view down to the sea. The villa was spacious, with a balcony and day bed. Comfortable large bed in the villa. Very clean. Good clean pool. The food at the restaurant was delicious, just be prepared to wait a while for your order as everything is prepared from scratch. Staff were lovely and helpful.

The only thing missing was a cupboard to put our clothes in. There was a bamboo rack to hang things, but the rest of our luggage we had to put on the floor. The hotel also hosts football/sports tv in the restaurant, but for those who don’t want to watch, you can order dinner to your room and enjoy the view from the balcony.

Incredibly nice home stay. Never seen a place with so much attention paid to any and all details. Very cosy atmosphere. We all felt at home immedeately and did not want to leave. (Wished we had booked longer). We liked that it is not that touristic yet (because of its dark volcano beach) and locals are still happy to see and talk to a white face. Hence, it's a trade off. White sand (e.g. Kuta) => many, many tourists, black sand (like Balian) => much fewer tourists. Not a dozen visitors on a mile long stretch of beach. It's a surfer beach and my kids told me afterwards that they had seen a "no swimming" sign. I didn't know and we went swimming anyway. The kids hat fun taking surfing lessons.

Vulcano sand beach with pebbles, strong surf that makes it sometimes difficult to get out of the water.

Nice room good bed clean

We had a fantastic time at Istana Balian. Before we arrived we had WhatsApp contact so everything was arranged when we arrived. They arranged even a taxi driver who also took us to the most beautiful spots. So when you go to Istana ask for Nova he is definitely the best! We stayed in the villa which had two bedrooms and a beautifull vieuw The restaurant is perfect the meals are fantastic and the staff is lovely If we go back to Bali. We definitely stay at Istana again

Great, calm place. Nice staff, cleaning the villas every day. The villas are equipped with everything you need, the atmosphere is very authentic. The breakfast was delicious, fresh food and fresh drinks, home made food.

None, everything was good.

Everything is cool

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐This was an outstanding Hotel nice walk to the beach ,Comfortable beds clean well though out rooms nice décor well kept property We made sure to eat most of our meals at the hotel restaurant because it was hands down the best restaurant in all of Bali !!!! The staff were exceptionally polite kind and Well vibed ..so much so we extended our stay three times For such a reasonable price this is amazing!!!!

We loved the Istana, the staff were all AMAZING and the ocean view villa we had was incredible. Lots of room, comfy beds, heaps of space, we had a tv upstairs and downstairs so the kids could watch what they wanted and felt like they had their very own space, and I could watch what I wanted and have some space to breathe as well. They organised our driver, moped hire and just took care of us so well it was a great experience and we look forward to coming back one day.

Nice little place , great staff and great food. Very quiet and peaceful.

If you want a gymnasium etc there is nothing but a small pool

Rare to find a soft comfortable bed in Bali. Had very nice sleeps on nice linen, 4 pillows and a soft mattress. Even rarer too was a stocked mini bar. Super clean, no bathroom odours. You can tell the owner knows what they're doing and has respect for their customers.

A great place to stay. Lovely, quiet and clean with modern facilities.

A bit far away from things, but once you had a motorbike it was fine.

Great location, awesome staff, and QUIET!! tucked away on a hill so that you can easily sleep in the morning in comfort! Pool was really nice, food at the restaurant was sensational, I had the best beef burger I've had in a very long time! Also the beds and linen were amazing, had the most comfortable sleep for the whole trip!!

The room was a fantastic size for our family of five. We loved the freshly cooked breakfast and enjoyed a number of other meals at the hotel as well. The hotel was very well located for a short walk down to a beautiful beach. The staff were extremely friendly. Our boys (12,10,7) loved the pool area.

Home away from home

Can't think of anything

All the staff were exceptional. Extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Very comfortable clean rooms, great views. Would visit again.

It is peaceful. The pool is nice and clean. The restaurant is good and prices are reasonable.

In room 3 there are wood borers in the bathroom door frame, so there is a constant pile of sawdust in the doorway. There is not much shade for the pool chairs.

Amazing boutique resort family run owned. Exceptionally welcoming inviting comfortable clean safe the food was homemade & delicious

Such beautiful and comfortable accommodations and the sweetest staff! Everything we wanted and more! Can't beat the location as well!

Fantastic. Everything is great.

Everything is great.

Nice and comfortable Great food

Large space in the villa to accomodate all our 4 family members. The hosts did their best to help with various tips. We really enjoyed the breakfasts - they were amazing. We asked for 1hr and a half late checkout and this was accepted - big thanks for it! During a heavy rain - we noticed some drops in the roof - the host quickly intervened and addressed the issue. The facility is located in a quiet and authentic area.

Grab is not available in the area. Consider downloading the Gojek app or using a local taxi, though the latter may cost slightly more than app-based rides. Adding shampoo in the bathrooms would be a nice touch, as would additional shelves for clothing to improve storage convenience.

The staff were fantastic, great warm friendly atmosphere.

The location is great for adults as it's quiet , but maybe too quiet for teens, that's no fault of the residence.

Lovely staff, owners, restaurant. Very relaxing and pool area was perfect.

My favourite hotel in Balian. Room was great, restaurant is good, Breakfast was great, staff were excellent.

All was good

The room was clean and staff were very friendly. our stay was comfortable and in a great location.

Pantai Balian is Bali as it used to be 40 years ago - a surfie haven Istana Balian Hotel is just awesome - quiet, comfortable & would recommend it to my family & friends - staff were awesome, food was good & reasonably cheap- the pool is soooo good An awesome place to relax xxxx

Location was beautiful. Meals were amazing, fresh and delicious. The rooms are very spacious with awesome views of the beach, ideal for our family. Had all the immenities - pool area was my go to place every morning. If you want to relax and enjoy some serenity - this private oasis is the place for you. Access to Netflix, prime channels etc were an added bonus for our teen. Highly recommend this accommodation.

It’s near by the beach

Probably need to fix the rate for short stay

Spacious garden room and very quiet and clean. The aircon was good and a smart TV was a bonus. It was fine for our two night stay. Staff were friendly

The pool isn’t really inviting to sit by or swim. The garden room and little natural light.

Istana is such a lovely place to stay in Balian. The accommodation, food and staff are fabulous. We just love spending time there.

Nothing

One of the best value/money stays in Balian. Very good on site restaurant.

If you travel with cash, keep in mind it's no money changers in Balian.

Love everything about this place very clean close walk to the beach, and staff were so nice would recommend this place in a heart beat good value for money. Double beef burger was on point 🤌 definitely would come back. Good for families and can't go wrong with the sunrise view from your balcony. Thank you balian!! Ivy, James and kids
