The owners are very friendly and very knowledgeable about the area and gave us lots of good advice about the attractions in the area. Reviewed Aug 23, 2026Blue Spur B&B is a fantastic place to stay! It offers the perfect balance of a peaceful country retreat while remaining just minutes away from Hokitika's main attractions. The rooms are immaculate, well-appointed, and the beds guarantee a great night's sleep. Ron and Jan are exemplary hosts who go out of their way to ensure you have everything you need, including a wonderful breakfast to start your day. Free on-site parking, fast Wi-Fi and great shower were great bonuses. Would absolutely stay here again!

Reviewed Aug 13, 2026We loved staying here! Our room was spacious and comfortable and the area was really quiet. Ron's breakfasts were delicious and set us up for days of exploring. Ron also had a lot of local tips for places to visit and eat out. Highly recommend!

Reviewed May 7, 2026The setting is lovely. Ron, the host, is very friendly and prepared a delicious, made to order breakfast, with as much food as wanted. Excellent coffee. Our room was comfortable. An added benefit is seeing Jan’s (Ron’s wife) gorgeous quilts hanging in the hallways, kitchen, and on the beds.

wifi信号看起来满格，但实际上基本无法使用。 好在我们有其他移动网络可用，可以接受。 如果是wifi重度依赖者，需考虑。 建议房东改善wifi状况。

Reviewed Apr 11, 2026Ron and Jan were lovely hosts and just like visiting your family. All guests ate in the kitchen, although I think you could have had breakfast in your room. Room was comfortable, not flashy, but perfectly acceptable place to stay. Breakfast was very good and you could have whatever you liked. It was ideal place to stay for us. Little bowls of sweets left in room. It was self check-in, very easy, no issues.
Would have preferred tea/coffee facilities in the room, but they were in a communal area to help yourselves.

Reviewed Mar 20, 2026This is the second time we have stayed at Blue Spur. Ron and Jan are excellent hosts, very friendly and happy to help with anything needed. Ron also does great bacon and eggs for breakfast. The room is spacious, very comfortable and has all the accessories you would need and spotlessly clean. The bonus here is there is a kitchenette for guests with fridge/freezer, microwave, crockery and cutlery, making it very convenient to prepare an easy meal should you not want to eat out. We would definitely be back for a 3rd time should we be back in Hokitika. 😁

Location was good, just outside Hockitika but still nice and close to town. Breakfast was great. Two must sees, the gorge and the glow worm dell ( must be dark but arrive before sunset for parking )
