Michelle was very welcoming. The roast was one of the best I've had! My room was cosy and had everything I needed. I would absolutely stay again if in town.

We arrived after a long tramp to be welcomed by John, one of the friendly owners, who showed us around and checked we had everything we needed. The room was perfect, simple and comfy, and we were too pooped to enjoy the garden but it looked like a gorgeous place for a coffee or a beer.

We wished the bar was still open so we could have sat by the fire after our tramp, but that isn't a flaw of the hotel, just unlucky timing on our part!

Great staff, nice atmosphere and comfortable clean rooms

The room was cozy. Shared facilities were clean and if you feel uncomfortable walking through the bar, there is a back entrance that you can use once you complete the check in. Microwave, toaster and hot water is provided at the communal kitchen.

The room walls were thin. As we had an early departure, our group of four had to check out in the wee hours of the morning. I guess my group generated some noise while moving our luggage to the back door, which caused some unhappiness amongst the other guests. Our bad.

Close proximity to town. The room was comfortable and a heater was provided for warmth. The staff were friendly and welcoming when I arrived.

There is shared bathroom facilities with only 2 showers & 2 toilets for at least 10 rooms. They were clean however & good pressure in tire shower. Also there was no restaurant food available. Apparently it's not available on Monday & Tuesdays. Tea & coffee were provided but only enough coffee & milk for 1 cup.

Very comfortable room and beds. Great bar and very good restaurant meals.

The Pioneer Hotel does not supply breakfast. I bought my own breakfast items with me.The hotel has what they describe as a "Breakfast Nook" which supplies crockery cutlery, a fridge for guests to store private foods, drinks, milk etc and hot water tea and coffee. Any extras must be supplied by guests. Having started previously I knew what I needed to bring with me.

The eating area was within the bar area so conversations could be heard including the frequently used "F" word.

Everything was manageable but a tight squeeze in the room. Shower and toilet facilities were good but shared with other guests. Shared kitchenette facilities were very good with a modern fridge for the use of guests.

The room was smaller than we expected. No room to open luggage except on the bed. The blind was hung out from the window so anyone walking by could see right in to the room - I went and checked one evening - curtains would resolve this issue.

Oozing charm. Exceptionally clean. Warm and comfortable. John and Michelle (proprietors) very nice people and it was fun mingling with the patrons.

Being a hotel there were no beverages or food available until after 3.30. Was only able to access the pool table due to the entrance unlocked while cleaning in process. Booking into a hotel would have thought lunch and bar facilities would have been available to guests . They would benefit from guest spend than driving business away to other establishments.

Tidy room, enough bathrooms, great located in inside. Lovely kitchen, small but functional. Love to have sink in the room, eliminating the unnecessary time go outside.

The hotel is inside a pub. The staff is really nice but the rooms are not very clean The toilet and shower are not really clean either. There was a fan and a heater in the room. And a sink which was nice. There was no possibility to cook food. Only a fridge and a place for hot drinks. The price is not cheap. But compared to New Zealand it is a bit lower standard than hostels at these prices.

Comfortable rooms and within walking distance to Main Street. Staff accomodating with late check in. Basic kitchen facilities enough for making tea and coffee.

Bon accueil de la gérante, la chambre possédait un confort tout à fait correct. L’hôtel est très bien situé, à 2 pas du village et des commerces, accès à la plage pratique. C’est bien pour une nuit de passage.

Les toilettes et douches sont trop peu nombreuses et durant la nuit les toilettes étaient de propreté douteuse (mais ce n’est pas l’établissement à blâmer dans ce cas évidemment…)

Staff were great and food was excellent.

Comfortable beds, very cosy blankets and a good little heater! I liked the old pub vibe, but it might not be everyone's cup of tea. Staff were friendly and offered to change our towels & top up tea, coffee, ect during the stay. We found it easy to walk into town for everything we needed. Overall it was quite nice.

the food was astounding every meal i saw was good, price was good as well. Speaking to some of the locals at the boat racing they had all been there for meals many times. Rooms were good all you need for your stay good beds. Shared showers and Toilets were clean kitchenette area clean. it is an old pub and the patrons were freindly and sociable. Off street parking for motorbikes get a few in there was a bonus.

Our stay was comfortable, in a good location for exploring the fascinating beach front and also a stop along the road between Abel Tasman and the glaciers! It was helpful to have the small kitchenette and be able to park outside for free, the staff were lovely too

Too bad they don't do breakfast. We ate in our room, & there are lots of restaurants elsewhere in town, though.

Amazing hosts who went out of their way to make us welcome and super friendly.

Les clé étaient facile à récupérer, les informations quant au logement et les environs on été appréciés. C'est bien situé par rapport aux lieux d'intérêt et la chambre est bien dans un espace agréable, le parking étant un atout.

Tout allait bien, sauf la cuisine et les toilettes à partager.

Tout était super ! Très joli et propre. Très bien équipé. Un jardin charmant où passer du temps au soleil dès le petit déjeuner. On se sent comme à la maison. Le fait que ce soit aussi un pub et resto est génial car on y mange super bien pour un prix très raisonnable. Sinon le centre est à 5mn à pied donc très pratique aussi. Enfin, le couple qui gère le lieu est top et très sympa. Bref, je suis ravie d’avoir séjourné ici et je reviendrais avec plaisir.
