Such a lovely place! The family that runs this place are really nice, they helped us with everything we needed. The place in quite and comfortable and the food is good.

Wonderful garden! Nice quiet location in a small village

The airconditioning in (only) one of the rooms was a bit noisy. Rooms are basic but clean.

Une excellente adresse, avec une famille adorable qui la gère. La pension est un peu excentrée mais il y a des vélos à disposition, une ligne de bus à côté et la possibilité de louer des scooters pour 120 000 VND.

Logement familiale tres sympatique au vert avec vue sur la montagne. Restaurant de qualité à disposition. Calme.

Salle de bain vieillotte et logement un peu loin du centre. La location d'un scooter est indispensable. Lits sont particulièrement durs.

Nous avons adoré notre séjour au Tran Chau Garden. Les propriétaires sont adorables, leur cuisine excellente (le meilleur Ban mi que j ai mangé le matin), le jardin est sublime, la piscine etait impeccable pour se rafraîchir le soir et les logements étaient propre. Nous avons dîné un soir dans le jardin, c etait super agréable et à la fin du repas, on nous a proposé un bain de pieds aux plantes offert. Possibilité de louer un scooter sur place pour aller en ville et aux plages. Le propriétaire s est occupé de tout pour notre transfert pour Ninh Binh à un petit prix. Ils nous ont même offert quelques fruits pour le trajet si on avait faim. Je recommande sans hésiter!

La familia que lleva el hotel es muy maja, se encargaron de que nuestra estancia fuera perfecta. El desayuno muy completo. Ésta en una zona tranquila a unos km del centro pero para nosotros mejor, alejados del bullicio. Te mueves en taxi sin ningún problema.

loin du centre ville : le seul moyen de se rendre au centre et/ou à la plage c’est avec des scooters ou un taxi les scooters loués sont en général en pas tres bon état (compteur de vitesse cassé et phares un peu faibles)

The garden, the super friendly staff. The pool was so refreshing even though it is way smaller than it looks in the photos.

The water feature above the pool was festy. The shrimp came with just rice, so you need to order a separate salad.

Very natural and calm place to be. The restaurant was excellent, no need to eat outside. I’m going to miss the pancakes! They are better than my moms pancakes 😳🥰

Les chambres sont bien, spacieuses et confortables. Les excursions proposées par l'hôtel sont très bien, et l'hôtel s'occupe de tout pour l'organisation, c'est agréable (croisière 2 jours 1 nuit). L'hôtel s'occupe également du transport, c'est pas cher et très pratique. Le cadre de l'hotel est sympathique, dans un petit jardin. La nourriture du restaurant est très bonne. L'hôtel nous a laissé prendre une douche après le check out. Les bains de pied sont très agréables.

la porte de la chambre laisse passer la lumière donc on se fait réveiller tôt. Le menu du restaurant manque de choix végétarien. Les motos louées par l'hôtel sont NULLES. Sur 3 motos louées, toutes étaient vieilles, avec des moteurs fonctionnant à peine, des freins très abîmés et mous, des rétroviseurs pas adaptés (rétroviseur droit monté du côté gauche sur une), des lumières pas toutes fonctionnelles, un coffre qui avait du mal à s'ouvrir/fermer... Il faut absolument les remplacer, idem pour les casques qui sont vieux et moins efficaces que des casques de vélo (d'autant plus que c'est nécessaire d'avoir une moto pour se déplacer hors de l'hôtel). Ce sont les pires motos qu'on ait eu en 6 mois de voyage en Asie.

Ambiance familiale en retrait de la ville, simple, mignon, des gens respectueux souriants et discrets qui répondent toujours aux besoins. Des repas faits maisons généreux. Possibilité de louer scooter et vélos. Possibilité de se faire réserver les excursions bateau dans les baies avec un pick up à l'hôtel. Pareil pour les transferts Cat Ba > Hanoï ou Cat Ba > Non Binh.

Lovely hosts who were very friendly. They offered us free foot baths and bicycles to borrow. Cold AC, hot water in the shower and a comfortable bed and pillow. They also helped us arrange a tour and transportation. Food in their restaurant was very tasty. Pool was refreshing and clean and the cats were the best!

We recommend borrowing a bicycle directly from the homestay. It’s a convenient way to explore the area at your own pace. While the bikes may not be brand new, they are reliable and get you where you need to go—whether it’s the town center, nearby beaches, or local dining spots.

Everything was nice about the property: nice garden, good food, clean rooms etc.

I’d suggest to not book a plankton night tour through the hotel! It was extremely sketchy and seemed almost illegal… maybe just book it through a real tour guide.

Cet endroit est un havre de paix. Nous avons passé un très bon séjour avec nos enfants qui ont adoré l'endroit !

Le homestay est super cosy, gérée par une famille adorable qui prendra soin de vous. Le petit déjeuner est très bon, ainsi que les plats préparés par la famille ! En soirée, il vous est proposé un bain de pied aux herbes gratuitement. Le homestay se situe dans une zone reculée de la ville (4-5km) c’est parfait pour le calme mais il faudra simplement vous organiser pour vous déplacer (la famille propose vélos, scooters et service de taxis).

Location is great, if, like us, you choose not to stay in town, and stiil, its 8 or so minutes on a scooter. Rooms are spacious and clean. We rented a scooter on site and price was cheaper than in town. Also, the host took care of booking an evening plankton tour, which was great experience and also, at a cheaper fee. Its great value for the money and we highly recommend it

Food is so so and the pool is small.

This has been the best stay in Vietnam after a month and a half in the country. The family who runs it is lovely, they pampered us with fruits, foot baths and everything we needed. They have bicycles for free and rent scooters. But the most beautiful thing are the pets, there are dogs and cats everywhere! I fell in love with Coco to the point I didn’t want to leave. Hope I can go back soon!

There are specific transfer hours what was not mentioned in advance You could hear above the celling rats or other animal at night When I arrived, the lady at the reception first have to show the TikTok video to her friend (in front of me) and then deal with me, so it felt not very welcoming Leaking roof but quickly cleaned up

The owners were incredibly helpful especially when I injured my ankle on a boat trip. The property is very peaceful. The owners helped arrange our boat trip and transport to our next destination. The food available was excellent too.

Le gérant et le personnel sont très gentils. L'endroit est paisible avec un très beau jardin. Il a été de bons conseils et nous a conseillé une très belle croisière sur la baie avec sa compagnie. Il nous a trouvé également une solution pour la nuit du 30 avril au 1er mai parce que tout était réservé avec les jours fériés (Nuit dans une maison flottante). La cuisine de son homestay était également très bonne avec des produits frais de la mer ( mention spéciale pour les huîtres).

J'ai tout apprécié. Juste très peu de pression pour la douche mais c'était pas bien grave.

Mixed experience. No water, tea, or coffee in the room—just a kettle and cups. Towels smelled strongly of bleach. We also had issues with pricing and communication: the booking showed about 255,000 VND per night, but on arrival we were charged 700,000 VND for one night and not allowed to stay the extra night that was previously agreed. On the positive side, the area is beautiful, with a lovely garden, a nice small pool, and very cute dogs and cats.

The homestay is beautiful with a nice garden. Very calm location: great to relax! The rooms are nice, clean and spacious. The owner, Tuyen, is really helpful. He organised all the transfers and boat tour for us. Everything went smoothly thanks to him. He also offers scooter and bikes rental which is very convenient. His wife also prepares good home made food. We recommend 100%!!

die Unterkunft ist sauber und schön gepflegt. Und es ist sehr ruhig gelegen, das tat uns nach der Hektik in Hanoi gut. Es gibt auch einen kleinen Pool, der für Abkühlung sorgt. Das Essen im Restaurant war lecker und abwechslungsreich. Besonders nett ist wenn am Abend ein heißes Fußbad mit Kräutern hergerichtet wird.

It’s a total heaven ! We loved everything about this place , the staff is very kind and helpful. They have a beautiful place full of flowers and plants. It looks like a little fairy garden. The bonus for anyone who loves animal is that they have cute little dogs and cats walking around , super friendly and well behaved!! They also have a very tasty restaurant. + you can rent scooter from them , directly from the reception , it makes visiting the island so much easier. We were very sad to leave. We hope to come back at some points !

We loved our stay at tran chau garden home, away from the hustle and bustle of cat ba town but still close enough if you’d like to visit the center for food or adventure activities. The hosts were very kind and helpful, the rooms were clean and comforable, and the garden is amazing! We would definetely come back

Nice and cosy bungalow family run hotel. Spacious room, room service every day. We had the most comfortable beds, slept like babies. Very quiet, in a small village, beautiful garden, clean and cozy territory, little swimming pool that our daughter loved, very well maintained - we saw people taking care of the grounds every day. Breakfast one of the best we had in Vietnam, we especially liked the pancakes and fruit salad, could eat it every day. Dinner options were also very good, we had most our dinners there and never regretted our choices. Very friendly and helpful family, they were helping us organising literally everything, all the transportations, excursions etc and all worked very smoothly, on time and very well organised, very reasonably priced, we didn't have to worry about anything and were completely satisfied with them. Free bikes. We also loved the herbal baths in the evening.

Set back from the road, it was quiet and the rooms set around a very pretty garden. Excellent value for money and the owners very accommodating. Bikes available free to use, although being so hilly it’s difficult to cycle, so the property also has mopeds available to rent.

The property is tucked away in a little village. Beautiful surroundings. The room is a good size for two people (double room). The breakfast was good. Owners are really nice people.

The bed was a little hard but ok.

Beautiful property tucked away from the town and the main road so it’s quiet and tranquil. The food is excellent. I had breakfast there every day - the bread and eggs comes with a plate of vibrant fresh fruit - and dinner there twice; the food is great and made fresh to order. The owners are kind and attentive. Scooter rental was easy and there are also bikes available. The homestay is about a 20min ride from town and the beaches but they are easy to get to with a scooter or taxi.

If you don’t want to rent a scooter then it may make more sense to stay closer to the town, but if you’re looking for a relaxing environment away from the bustle of the town then this is definitely the place.

Monsieur Tuyen et sa famille tiennent une douzaine de chambres. Ambiance familliale et reposante. A l'ecart de la ville, mais on peut facilement loue des motocyclette. Monsieur Tuyen est tres arrangeant, gentil, et disponible pour aider. Nous avons vraiment eu un super sejour.

La famille qui gere ce homestay est vraiment exceptionnelle, chaleureuse et tres sincere. Ils sont toujours prets a aider avec le sourire. Le pere nous a meme organise des taxis et des excursions a des prix tres raisonnables. On se sent vite comme a la maison ici. L’ambiance est simple mais tres authentique. Le depart etait un peu difficile, car on s’y attache facilement. Je recommande vivement cet endroit.

Très sympathique, toujours souriant, et sincèrement soucieux de s’assurer que vous passiez un bon moment. Même si son anglais n’est pas parfait, vous pouvez facilement vous débrouiller avec Google Translate et quelques éclats de rire. Il vous aidera pour absolument tout — transport, nourriture, excursions, tout ce dont vous avez besoin.

There’s something about this homestay that makes you naturally slow down. It’s quiet, a bit tucked away, and not crowded with tourists. I actually enjoyed just staying in, relaxing in the common area, chatting with people, and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. It felt very real and grounding.

L’un de mes moments préférés ici a simplement été de passer du temps au bord de la piscine avec une bière bien fraîche. L’atmosphère est très paisible — entourée d’arbres, calme, sans aucune précipitation. Cela m’a fait penser : « c’est exactement pour ça que j’aime voyager ».

Nous avons passé un séjour absolument merveilleux ces quatre derniers jours. Le lieu est magnifique et la famille incroyablement accueillante. Dès notre arrivée, le propriétaire nous attendait à l’entrée lorsque notre bus nous a déposées. La cuisine est tout simplement divine : quel que soit le plat choisi, tout est délicieux — nous avons mangé comme des reines à chaque repas ! Nous recommandons vivement de réserver les activités directement auprès de l’établissement (comme l’excursion à Lan Ha et Ha Long) : ils s’occupent de tout, y compris du transport qui vient vous récupérer juste devant l’hébergement. Sur place, il est possible de louer un scooter à la journée pour aller en ville ou à la plage. Ils peuvent également appeler un taxi ou organiser votre retour vers le continent. Bref, ils gèrent absolument tout, avec une efficacité et une gentillesse remarquables. Tout est très propre et pensé pour le confort : le bain de pieds le soir est une attention particulièrement appréciée. Tout est réuni pour se détendre et profiter pleinement du séjour. Nous recommandons cet endroit les yeux fermés !

For a budget homestay, the cleanliness was actually impressive. The room, sheets, and bathroom were all kept nice and tidy. It’s not luxury, but it’s definitely more than decent—felt comfortable staying there for several nights.

Les repas ici sont simples mais excellents, et très abordables. Nous avions pensé séjourner dans la ville de Cat Ba pour plus de commodité, mais choisir cet endroit s’est avéré être la bien meilleure option. Le cadre paisible, l’air pur et la bonne nourriture ont rendu le séjour très agréable et relaxant. Nous avons également adoré voir les chats amicaux se promener autour de la propriété.

Pendant mon séjour, j’ai adoré passer du temps près de la petite piscine et dans le jardin. Il y avait quelque chose d’incroyablement apaisant à simplement s’asseoir là, un verre à la main, sans rien faire, laissant la journée se dérouler lentement. L’atmosphère était détendue et légèrement rustique, donnant à l’endroit un charme authentique et accueillant. Je me suis surpris à y rester plus longtemps que prévu, à discuter avec d’autres voyageurs, à observer les mouvements délicats du jardin, ou simplement à profiter d’un moment de calme pour moi-même. C’était exactement le genre de pause dont j’avais besoin pour échapper au rythme habituel, un endroit où le temps semblait ralentir et où l’on pouvait vraiment se détendre.

Breakfast was simple but tasty — nothing fancy, yet filling, with a few local dishes done really well. The host put a lot of care into preparing dinner, and it was always delicious. Considering the quality, the prices felt very reasonable. Even with rising fuel costs, the restaurant made an effort to keep things fair — I noticed a 10% discount for both lunch and dinner. The whole experience felt warm, personal, and thoughtfully managed.

The towels have recently been upgraded to better-quality cotton, and they’re much more absorbent, which is a nice touch. If you’re travelling on a budget, this place is a real gem. It’s not luxurious, but you still get clean rooms, a convenient location, and genuinely warm hospitality.
