Whisky Point Resort

Uiterst vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel. Prachtige kamer en het uitzicht is adembenemend midden op het strand tussen de palmbomen. We hebben lekker gegeten en konden zelfs al onze kleren wassen.

Tout peut se faire sur place, le lieu est magnifique et calme ! Et tout le personnel d’une attention et d’une gentillesse rare et très appréciable !

A heavenly spot incredibly close to a fantastic surf location. Nicola and Anna have done an amazing job creating this beautiful place. The staff is highly trained, super friendly, and they make you feel at home instantly. Thanks for everything, guys! We hope to return very soon!!!

What can I say about this place other than WOW. We loved our stay here so much, everything was perfect. We were greeted warmly with a refreshing welcome drink and explained everything about how the resort works and what activities are on offer. The room was simple but rustic and beautiful. Although there is no AC they provide enough fans for it to be comfortable and there is a lovely sea breeze also. There are so many lovely little places to hang out and chill, from cabanas to bean bags, deck chairs and hammocks, all amongst the sand and palm trees with the sound of the ocean. The service was beyond 5 star, you simply WhatsApp anything you would like, ordering drinks to wherever you are around the resort. Breakfast was delicious and they have a variety of Italian dishes for lunch and dinner. They even offer a free laundry service and carry your bags on arrival and departure. The staff are absolutely brilliant always keeping the site clean and greeting you with such friendliness. I can’t believe how little we paid for such a beautiful resort with incredible service!

Not many rooms so felt spacious. Covered couches overlooking beach Great views particularly from upper level of cabanas. Great service from staff Close to good surfing area- within 15min walk to surf schools and rentals

Shame you can’t swim in the sea as too rough. Could do with having a swimming pool to compensate. Charges for activities you would normally expect to be included in a high end resort- eg use of outdoor gym floor with weights Nice to hear sea with windows open at night but spoiled by loud music from bar next door until early hours.

Imagine: you wake up hearing the waves and birds; you open the 'window' of your cabin and see palm trees, the sun and the beach. Then you enjoy a fresh fruit salad and an iced latte, while petting the cute dogs of the owner. During the day you take a surf lesson, yoga class, go to the gym or simply chill on the beach. Whenever you need anything, the staff are ready to help you out. Then you go out for dinner/drinks in the lively town of Arugam Bay, which is +-15 minutes away. And when you come back, regardless of the time, the security guard welcomes you back with a bottle of ice cold water for the night. This is the best place I have ever been to. If we could have, we would have stayed much longer.

Eine super großzügige und gepflegte Anlage fern vom Trubel. Die Cabanas waren einfach eingerichtet, aber hatten einen besonderen Flair.

Klimatisierung nur mit Deckenventilator (geht natürlich auch nicht anders)

Die Lage des Resorts ist einmalig! Man fühlt sich rundum sehr wohl und ist komplett abgeschottet von Touristen. Die Kabinen sind super sauber, das Essen wirklich auch vorzüglich. Das Personal organisiert alles für dich, wenn du möchtest. Wir würden es jedem ans Herz legen, hier Stop zu machen!

Es kann nachts zu Schüssen kommen, weil Elefanten in der Nähe sein könnten.

Es precioso, está bien cuidado, es muy cómodo y el servicio es muy bueno. Detalles como tener servicio de restaurante en cualquier zona donde te encuentres del resort es muy conveniente. También tener un grifo en la entrada de las cabanas ayuda a mantener los pies limpios de arena. Que visualmente todo encaje (estilo, colores etc) a mi personalmente me genera paz y placer a la vista Del desayuno, lo que más nos gustó fue los vegetales asados con huevos y pan (muy rico). También pedimos pizzas en dos ocasiones y están buenas, además salen muy rápido. Tener agua ilimitada y fría es otro punto a favor. La zona de entrenar es conveniente si quieres hacer un poco de ejercicio. Tienen varias mancuernas, kettlebells, elásticos , cajon, esterillas etc En general nos encantó y estuvimos súper a gusto. Es el mejor alojamiento del viaje.

Lo único que fue un poco molesto es el hecho de escuchar los pasos de los vecinos de arriba cuando estás en la cabaña de abajo. Es algo que no pensamos, pero ahí teníamos vecinos que se despertaban a las 6 para surfear y durante 10 o 15 min te despiertan con sus pasos desde arriba. También por la noche si queríamos dormir temprano y los vecinos no, escuchábamos todos sus movimientos arriba (pasos, el móvil cayendo al suelo , haciendo la maleta …) No fue un grandísimo problema porque no escuchábamos algo constante, solo puntual, pero es algo molesto si vas a descansar. Si tienes el sueño ligero mejor quedarte en la cabana de arriba.

La playa donde está tiene olas demasiado fuertes para bañarse y está muy alejado de todo. Los precios son más caros que otro sitio de la zona, tanto como de surf como de comida

If you’re looking for a quiet, beautiful place to stay away from busy Arugam Bay, this is the place for you! The cabins were lovely, cozy and thoughtfully designed. You can really tell that they’ve paid attention to all the little details. The whole property is beautifully maintained, with plenty of comfortable spots to sit, relax and just chill. The restaurant serves amazing Italian food 😍 and the yoga center is wonderful, well equipped and has a beautiful view of the ocean. We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed every single moment. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful. And even after we checked out, they went out of their way to help us with our onward journey, which we really appreciated. Highly recommended!

Le lieu est vraiment magique : les pagodes sont faces à la mer, on se réveille les pieds dans le sable. La salle de bain commune est vraiment aux pieds des pagodes et ne sont partagées qu’entre 4 chambres, donc ce n’est vraiment pas dérangeant. L’accueil était parfait, le manager (celui qui nous a accueilli le premier jour) et les propriétaires étaient vraiment aux petits soins ! Véritable service digne du standing du lieu, avec un room service toute la journée. Il y a un spot de surf à seulement quelques minutes à pieds, même si cette plage est bien moins animée qu’Arugam. Allez-y les yeux fermés !

Malheureusement, la nourriture (sauf les pizzas) ne sont vraiment pas à la hauteur, surtout vu le prix très très élevé. C’est dommage, car vu la beauté du lieu, on a envie de rester manger là! Nous avons également eu une expérience mitigée avec un membre du personnel qui nous livrait la nourriture et qui n’était pas très aimable (nous avions l’impression de le déranger quand nous lui demandions quelque chose ou que nous lui faisons remarquer que ce qu’il nous avait apporté n’était pas ce qu’on avait commandé!)

Il soggiorno al whiskey point resort ha coronato in maniera eccellente il nostro viaggio in Sri lanka. Abbiamo sperimentato la formula 'glamping' e l' esperienza si é rivelata strepitosa (oltre che comfortevole). Il resort é distante dal caos di Arugam bay ma calato in un paradiso terrestre vicinissimo ad uno dei punti piu quotati per surfare e perfetto per chi é in cerca di pace e relax. Il calore dei proprietari Nicola ed Anna rendono l'ambiente accogliente e familiare, e l intera struttura gode di ottima pulizia e servizi grazie anche al lavoro dello staff sempre pronto a soddisfare ogni richiesta. Ottima cucina italiana e la pizza più buona dell'isola. Sicuramente un posto in cui torneremmo volentieri.

Les pagodes situées au milieu des palmiers et en bord de mer offre un cadre idyllique. Peu de chambres et une plage pour nous seuls. Magnifique vue. Le personnel, professionnel et chaleureux. La cuisine italienne et les pizzas napolitaine dans un four à bois sont excellentes ! Être réveillé par les bruits de la nature et le soleil donne à cet endroit toute sa particularité. Sans compter les éléphants qui passent à proximité.

Tout : - la cabane joliment aménagée et confortable - le restaurant : très bonne nourriture italienne et petit déjeuner tout à fait correct - la localisation de l’hôtel sur la plage avec des lits à disposition pour en profiter à l’abri du soleil - le personnel compétent et accueillant - l’ambiance à la fois calme et vivante - Dolce la petite chienne adorable du patron

Établissement très bien tenu et propre, le personnel nettoie vos chambres tous les jours, un vrai luxe. Le cadre, les logements soignés, élégant, la vue sur la mer est un spectacle, la restauration en service continue de 8 à 22h est excellente, le personnel est très agréable, il y a des équipements pour s’amuser. C’est un lieu de détente, au calme. Il y a une petite plage de surfeurs à 10 minutes à pied par la mer qu’il faut aller voir, l’ambiance est très sympa et vous pouvez prendre des leçons de surf sans l’agitation d’arugam bay.

Wir hatten einen wunderschönen Aufenthalt in diesem Hotel. Die Anlage liegt an einem ruhigen, traumhaften Strand und ist sehr geschmackvoll gestaltet sowie hervorragend gepflegt. Als Familie hatten wir eine ganze Cabana für uns, was viel Platz und Privatsphäre bot. Das gesamte Team war ausgesprochen freundlich, herzlich und aufmerksam. Man merkt, dass sich die Mitarbeitenden grosse Mühe geben, damit sich die Gäste rundum wohlfühlen. Auch das Essen war sehr lecker und abwechslungsreich. Wir hatten das Resort ursprünglich ausgewählt, weil wir dachten, dass man direkt am Whisky Point vor dem Hotel surfen kann. Leider ist das aufgrund der Veränderungen am Strand und der Erosion schon seit längerer Zeit nicht mehr möglich. Anfangs waren wir deshalb etwas enttäuscht. Zum Glück liegt der Pottuvil Point aber nur etwa fünf Minuten mit dem Tuk-Tuk oder rund 20 Minuten zu Fuss entfernt und bietet sehr gute Surfbedingungen. Auch Arugam Bay ist mit dem Tuk-Tuk in nur etwa 15–20 Minuten erreichbar, sodass man die Restaurants, Cafés und das Nachtleben problemlos geniessen kann. Insgesamt hatten wir eine tolle Zeit und würden dieses Hotel jederzeit wieder buchen.

Idyllic cabana on the beach. We loved the location and the staff were kind and very attentive. We all had a go at surfing and the resort recommended a local holistic herbalist for amazing massages.

Pizzas were great but the other food offered is overpriced compared to other food we have experienced throughout Sri Lanka.

Wat een paradijs! Wij komen hier heel graag terug! Je verblijft echt op het strand. De huisjes zijn fantastisch. Lekker bed, goede douche. Je kunt hier heerlijk eten en het personeel is super vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Dank je wel Anna voor het heerlijke verblijf. We hadden heel graag langer gebleven! Tot een volgende keer!

Alles! Es sind die Details die es ausmachen, die Stift und Papier im Zimmer, Taschenlampe, Tigerbalsam, Wäsche gratis, immer per Whatsapp abrufbar und erreichbar....es ist eh immer jemand da. Sie haben extra für uns einen Beamer und Leinwand aufgestellt, dass wir die Fussball WM schauen konnten. Das Personal denkt mit und sind ein super Team. Anna die Managerin hat das sehr gut zusammen gestellt und die Leute geschult. Die Anlage ist mega, immer sauber und der Strand haben wir genutzt zum baden in den grossen Wellen. Ein paar Minuten laufen und dort kann man auch surfen in Paddulaw. Dort hat es nie viele Leute, nicht so wie in Arugambey! Wenn wir wieder kommen, dann definitiv hier hin.

The host (Anna) was helpful and friendly. She was available almost all the time for our needs and even helped us organize outside activities. The hotel is located near a beach that could easily be described as a private beach. It is also very easy to reach the city center. The room was always kept clean. The hotel has a restaurant that serves Italian food. We ate the best food of our Sri Lanka trip during our stay here. Additionally, the restaurant offers a 10% discount for hotel guests.

There was nothing that I disliked about the hotel itself. However, I did not appreciate the attitude of the staff at the surfing school arranged by the hotel. I would recommend arranging your private surfing lessons independently by searching online.

Great location right on the beach at Whiskey Point. It’s 25 mins by scooter or tuk tuk to Arugam Bay so if the waves are not working at Whiskey point, it’s a bit of a hike. A little hard to find but lovely peaceful beach and the staff are awesome

We stayed in the raised beach cabanas. They are pretty cool but you need a fan (which they can give you) but the only negative is that the four huts are super close together so limited privacy with sound.

Le personnel est attentifs à nos besoins et envies, le lieu est soigné et bien entretenu, terrain de volley, jeux de société, eau fournie gratuitement, la plage est surveillée, nous avions une cabane avec sanitaires publiques mais ils sont au pieds des tentes et très propres, avec le vent la nuit, il ne fait pas trop chaud dans la cabane

Le logement, la nourriture et les activités sont a des prix plus élevés que partout ailleurs

We really enjoyed our stay at Whisky Point Resort. The rooms were clean and very nice. The beach were the resort is located at was lonely and beautiful, a must do is watching the sunrise there. The staff was super friendly and alert. We also liked the food and appreciated the free water they provide. We booked surfing lessons via the hotel which were great too.

As it is bungalows in the middle of nature they dont have AirCon, be ready to be woken up early by the sound of all the animals surrounding you and the heat. It is also a approx 30 min ride to the city center, but we found that good manageable.

Cadre idyllique au milieudes cocotiers, la nuit on est bercé par le bruit des vagues, la journée tout le personnel est au petit soin pour nous ! Rien de mieux pour se ressourcer et profiter des vacances ! Un petit coin de paradis sur terre 🌴🥥

Direkt am Strand, wunderschön eingerichtete Unterkunft mit allem was man braucht.

Essen (Pizza/Pasta) war zwar wirklich gut aber wir fanden es schade, dass es kein einheimisches Essen gab. Die Preise waren auch relativ hoch.

Alle waren so lieb und hilfsbereit, auch schon im Vorfeld wurden alle offenen Fragen schnell und einfach geklärt. Der Aufenthalt war großartig. Tolle Unterkunft - etwas ganz besonderes. Man hat alles, was das Herz begehrt.

Ich kann gar nichts negatives sagen, da alles perfekt war. Wir haben es so genossen und ich kann es wärmstens weiter empfehlen. Jeder kann glücklich sein, der diesen schönen Standort besucht.

Incroyable, coup de cœur! Endroit de rêve, chambre magnifique et personnel plus qu’adorable. Nous avons adoré nos quelques jours la bas et nous aurions aimé y rester encore plus longtemps! Les pieds dans l’eau! Très bon petit déjeuner, les repas étaient bons, très chouette aussi d’avoir un endroit pour faire du sport. Encore un grand merci à Mufaris, Murthala et toute l’équipe.

On aurait apprécié qu’il y ai des plats sri lankais à la carte et qu’il y ai un deuxième café dans le petit déjeuner!

Alles wunderbar! Wir hatten die besten 3 Tage unseres gesamten Urlaubs von 3 Wochen in dem Whiskey Point Resort. Es wurde sich so super um uns gekümmert und wir haben uns zusätzlich einfach sehr sicher gefühlt. Super Essen und vor allem Super nettes Personal. Die Hosts haben uns super empfangen und hatten tolle Spielsessions und angenehme gesprächige Abend zusammen. Es hat sich wie ein weiteres zuhause angefühlt. Wir wollten gar nicht mehr abreisen. Und werden auf jeden Fall wieder kommen.

Konnten uns über nichts beschweren!

Wir waren im Dezember dort und hatten Glück mit dem Wetter. Insgesamt waren nur 3 Paare da. Es war sehr schön ruhig. Man hatte den Strand für sich alleine.

If you’re looking for Hilton-level service and attention to detail, but set in a truly wild, natural environment, Whiskey Point is exactly that rare combination. What stands out most is how smoothly everything runs. The team is professional, responsive, and genuinely service-minded. Requests are handled quickly and discreetly, without you having to repeat yourself or explain too much. In practice, it’s simple: you message them on WhatsApp, and whatever you need gets arranged. A major advantage, especially for a remote location like this, is the excellent Wi-Fi. It’s reliable enough to actually work from here, not just “check a message and hope for the best.” And then there’s the setting: a wide, stunning beach, minimal crowds, and real quiet. At night, you also get something that’s surprisingly rare in many beach destinations, darkness and silence for proper sleep, with no unnecessary lights or noise. There are plenty of comfortable spots to lounge and spend the day, and the service follows you there too, food, drinks, or anything else you can think of, brought to you with ease after a quick message.

Wir haben die Zeit im Resort sehr genossen. Das Servicepersonal war jederzeit ausgesprochen freundlich, aufmerksam, zuvorkommend und zuverlässig. Vielen Dank für den rundum gelungenen Service. Die Ausstattung ist so gestaltet, dass man sich jederzeit gemütlich einrichten und wohlfühlen kann. Besonders die Zeit in der Cabana war für uns sehr schön und erholsam. Auch die Bestellmöglichkeit über WhatsApp haben wir gerne und häufig genutzt. Sie war sehr praktisch und unkompliziert. Der Hot Tub war grossartig, und die Strandlounges sind wirklich toll und laden zum Verweilen ein. Am letzten Abend haben wir Pizza gegessen am gestellten Lagerfeuer. Diese war sehr lecker und hat unsere Erwartungen übertroffen. Die Strandtasche im Zimmer ist toll. Sowie auch der grosse Ventilator an der Decke. Bei der Buchung gab es von unserer Seite her ein paar Probleme. Es wurde umgehend gelöst und sie sind uns mit vielen Benefits sehr entgegengekommen. Vielen Dank dafür. Wir würden definitiv wieder kommen. Auch in der nahe gelegenen Stadt Potuvill haben wir uns wohl und sehr willkommen gefühlt. Wir hatten viele tolle Begegnungen in dieser Zeit. Die Lagunen und Mangroven Bootstour ist sehr empfehlenswert. Sie war informativ, humorvoll und sympathisch. Die Natur am Whiskypoint war atemberaubend. Die Hängematte auf dem Balkon haben wir auch sehr gerne genutzt.

Die Matratze im Bett ist nicht durchgehend. Es hat ein Spalt in der Mitte, was beim kuscheln stört. Auch muss einem bewusst sein, dass man naturnahe übernachtet. Das bedeutet, dass diverse Tiere wie Geckos, Mäuse und Streifenhörnchen im Cabana Besuche abstatten. Gegen die Mücken hat es vom Resort eine Mückenlampe. Die Krähen haben uns früh geweckt. Ohne ein eigenes Fahrzeug ist das Resort schwer zu erreichen. Wir hatten zum Glück ein eigenes Motorrad dabei. Der Wellengang ist sehr stark. Nur für geübte Schwimmer geeignet. Dies ist jedoch durch das Resort nicht beeinflussbar. Es hat kein Kleiderschrank.

Extrakosten beim frühstück! Essen und getränke überteuert!

Es war traumhaft schön! Top Personal, erfüllten uns jeden Wunsch und waren sehr sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit! Tolle Erfahrung in so einem Bungalow zu übernachten. Das Essen und die Drinks sind absolut geniessbar und mit viel Liebe zubereitet. Das Meer ist praktisch vor deiner Bungalow Türe, was perfekt und sehr erholsam ist. Touren wie zum Beispiel Safari kann man alles über das Hotel buchen, was auch top ist. Excited to visit you again guys!!🙂

Il proprietario Nicola è super accogliente e disponibile, ti fa sentire a casa sin dal check in. Sia Nicola che Anna tengono molto ai loro ospiti e al loro benessere, creando un ambiente familiare, informale ed inclusivo. La struttura si trova sulla spiaggia ed affaccia sull’oceano: dalla camera puoi sentire il rumore del mare. Nota di merito per l’attenzione alle esigenze alimentari: da celiaca, trovare un pacco di pasta senza glutine italiana è stato fantastico. Infine, offrono la possibilità di svolgere diverse attività interessanti, come lezioni di surf, yoga, safari etc

Nulla. La struttura non si trova nella via principale di Arugam Bay, pertanto è necessario spostarsi in tuk tuk o con l’auto.

Super expérience, super service, super place. Le propriétaire Nicolas toujours sur place est à l’écoute des demandes de ses invités. Les 2 serveurs; Murthala et Mufarish sont d’une gentillesses exceptionnelles et toujours prêts à nous servir. Les petits déjeuners qui étaient inclus avec la location de notre cabane, sont, bons, généreux, les assiettes de fruits sont fraîches, le café italien est délicieux. Nous étions à l’étage d’une cabane en bois avec un toit en feuilles de palmier. Pas de moustiquaires aux fenêtres mais de toute façon il y a plein d’ouvertures un peu partout (c’est fait ainsi et c’est parfait comme ça). Et de façon surprenante, mis à part quelques moustiques il n’y avait pas d’insectes dans la chambre. Oui bien sûr au petit matin il y avait un suisse (petit écureuil) qui venait nous dire bonjour mais il repartait aussitôt tôt. Rien en 5 jours et 5 nuits à été grugé par des insectes ou des rongeurs dans notre petite cabane. Le site est tranquille et la plage est à une vingtaine de pas. La plage est belle et propre. Malgré ce que l’on dit, ce n’est pas la saison des pluies dans cette régions. Sur 7 jours passés à Arugam Bay il y a eu moins d’une heure de pluie.

Les repas servis sur place sont plus la plupart très bon. Mais il y a 2-3 défauts. 1- le four à pizza n’était pas en fonction. 2- les portions/les plats de pâte ne sont pas très généreuses pour le prix. 3- on fait vite le tour du menu.

The place is super ti va beautifoul. Beach Room restaurant ,staff and the great owers Nicola and Ana makes it a very special place.

Everything was amazing; the food, the cabanas, the employees, the owners, the atmosphere, everything. It was absolutely perfect. It’s one of those places you just don’t want to leave.

We loved everything, but just so others know, the cabana does not have a private bathroom as indicated in the description, and there is no hot water, but honestly, it’s not needed.

Domki są fantastyczne, wszystko jest idealne na dodatek widać, że wszystko jest zrobione ręcznie. Obsługa najlepszej jakości, wszystko robią tak, żeby miło spędzało się tam czas. Bardzo polecam. Super doświadczenie i relaks.

Une halte de 3 nuits dans ce petit havre de paix en bord de plage ou le temps s est arreté... Un grand merci à Muhajeer qui a rendu notre séjour encore plus agréable ! A noter que les excursions doivent se régler en cash néanmoins pour le restaurant vous avez la possibilité de régler par carte bancaire mais avec une taxe de 5% sur le montant en dollars et non sur celui en roupies.

Tolles Glamping-Gefühl in der Cabana, sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Die Lage ist sehr remote, den Strand direkt vorm Haus teilt man sich nur mit den wenigen anderen Gästen. Wir haben es uns sehr gut gehen lassen! Das Personal ist wirklich außergewöhnlich aufmerksam. Großzügiges Gelände mit zahlreichen Liegemöglichkeiten und Sportangeboten.

Meiner Meinung nach stimmt das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis im Whisky Point Resort leider nicht. Unterkunft, Essen & Trinken sind deutlich teurer als durchschnittliche Preise auf Sri Lanka, das im Preis enthaltene Frühstück ist klein und kein Vergleich zu den üppig gefüllten Frühstückstischen im singhalesischen Stil. Ein singhalesisches Gericht auf der Karte wäre außerdem für den Flair toll gewesen. Die Cabanas haben ausschließlich offene Fenster, wodurch viele Mücken und Insekten im Zimmer sind. Das Mückennetz überm Bett hatte Löcher und hat nur dürftig geholfen. Ohne Klimaanlage war es nachts sehr heiß. Warmes Wasser braucht man zwar nicht unbedingt, wäre für den Preis aber angemessen gewesen.

Il posto è veramente super, credo che non si possa chiedere di meglio per dormire in una cabanas a pochi metri dall oceano. Il letto molto confortevole, la cabanas sono molto pulite e fatte di un legno davvero molto bello. Nicola è un host davvero eccezionale si è preso cura del nostro viaggio anche prima di raggiungere la struttura, aiutandoci a organizzare spostamenti in modo corretto e poco dispendioso. Inoltre è una persona molto interessante con cui parlare per conoscere bene la storia di arugam bay e whisky point.

Per un italiano in viaggio il menu del ristorante non è certo molto attrativo visto che sono cose che mangiamo a casa. Nicola mi ha cmq saputo consigliare il ristorante tradizionale migliore in cui abbia mangiato in sri lanka!

Wat een vriendelijke oase kom je hier binnen. Het zit goed verstopt, maar als je eenmaal bent aangekomen zijn alle mensen zeer vriendelijk, op een prettige manier. Dit complex wordt gerund door een Italiaan, dus verwacht lekkere houtoven pizza's, goede pasta's en meer lekker eten. Ontbijt was erg lekker, veel keus en grote porties. Het strand is mooi en zeer dichtbij, wel vaak zeer hoge golven dus niet echt goed in te zwemmen. Ze hebben een gezellig plekje rond de bar om te eten, maar je kunt ook een spelletje pakken, ligt van alles. Je krijgt de hele dag door gratis water aangeboden wat super is. De huisjes zelf zijn heel leuk, hebben geen airco dus het is wel warm, maar hadden we ervoor over. Het complex zit wel een stukje van Arugambay af, moet je echt heen met een tuk tuk. Die staan wel klaar voor de deur. Een zwembad zou nog een mooie aanvulling zijn maar we hebben ons hier drie dagen totaal niet verveeld en gingen zeer relaxed (met twee kids) verder met onze reis door Sri Lanka.

3 fantastische dagen gehad bij Whisky Point Resort. De locatie aan het strand is geweldig! Het personeel is super gastvrij en de kamers zijn extreem knus. En dan heb ik het nog niet eens gehad over de geweldige Italiaanse keuken die ze serveren. Een absolute aanrader om hier op bezoek te gaan.

I originally booked this special place just for a few days, but it turned into more than two weeks. I had no idea how amazing this resort would be, that I’d make real friendships here, and that it would become one of my favorite places so far — I’m already planning to come back soon! I honestly don’t even know where to start, because everything was fantastic — especially the people! The location is calm, safe, and beautifully tucked away, with an endless, almost empty beach that’s perfect for relaxing. At the same time, you can easily walk to a surf point, and with a quick tuk-tuk ride you’re right in the heart of the lively Arugam Bay. The resort organizes different trips, there are movie nights on the beach under the stars, safaris, massages, yoga and surf lessons. The food is super varied and absolutely delicious — especially the pizzas! And the rooms are so cozy that you immediately feel at home. I can’t wait to come back and would recommend this place to anyone traveling to Sri Lanka!

La colazione era ottima e abbondante, il personale gentile e competente e la posizione fantastica con la vista sul mare. Abbiamo trascorso 15 giorni in questo posto meraviglioso, ottimo per il reax e per i surfisti a soli 10 minuti di passeggiata in spiaggia da Pottuvil Point. . Ma la ricchezza piu grande sono Nicola e Anna i propietari. La loro presenza , la loro cordialità ci ha fatto sentire come a casa di amici. Abbiamo fatto davvero fatica ad andare via :-)

Nicola, the italian owner and Anna are absolutely fabulous. They organized everything like surf lessons, tuk tuk drives to see wild elefants, and all the drivers we had for all our trip - and this for free!! The place is so nice & beautiful. Right on the sea, with open wooden huts and a fabulous italian restaurant. We would come back there and stay longer (we stayed 3 nights). You can even use the pool next to the resort if you want to change after the sea.

This place is amazingly beautiful, a true beach resort. The rooms might seem basic at first sight, but we found them really beautiful, the wooden cabins are really thoughtfully designed, simple, but clean and comfy. It is true that we didn't miss AC in April although we had wondered before arriving, there was a bit of wind and we never felt too hot in the rooms, especially the one on the first floor. The restaurant building is beautiful and it was such a delight to sit there, look at the palm trees, have a fresh fruit juice with a view towards the beach, hear the waves... very relaxing. In April there were only a few couples for short stays, so it was very calm during our 5 nights there. The beach huts are amazing, the staff brings you cushions and full service with food and drinks - almost on the beach - that was a real luxury, we thought. Staff were very friendly. Breakfast is amazing with a fresh fruit platter and bread or muesli/fruit or other dishes, best breakfast we had on our whole journey! Fresh, cool water anytime is an excellent service we appreciated very much! About surfing: We were happy to have the surfboard rental organized by Whisky Point a few weeks before our arrival with Sam's Surfshop. The very friendly owner brought the boards to Whisky Point and also picked us up with the boards every day in order to go to Peanut Farm by Tuktuk (with the boards again). Thanks to Sam, excellent service!

We had dinner sometimes which was good, especially the bowls but also pizza although normally we always looked for local food and loved our rice and curry. The menu is too European we thought, and some dishes are extremely expensive (18 Euros for a lasagna) for Sri Lankan prices. As there is almost nothing around the place, we took Tuk Tuks all the time to get dinner in Arugam Bay. But this does not mean that food is not good at Whisky Point, to the contrary, the Pizza was excellent. For swimmers and especially families: The beach is beautiful, but please be very careful as there is a mean and very dangerous undercurrent at the left side of the barrier which you might not see. Don't go swimming there. What surfers have to know: In April the wave of Whisky Point is not reliable, so much we knew. But we have been told that it has not been surfable in the past two years altogether, so the idea to stay at a place with direct access to a surfing spot does not seem to work anymore.

Whisky Point Resort is directly by the beach which is perfect to take a quick swim in the ocean at any time. All the staff is amazingly friendly which makes you feel even more comfortable! Besides that, it‘s super calm and relaxing. Perfect if you want to have the experience of a relaxing and comfortable stay! Still, the drive to Arugam Bay only takes 15 minutes. Thanks!!

Wherever you are in the resort, you just send a short message and the friendly staff bring you whatever you want (drinks, towels, breakfast, snacks…anything). It’s not rude. It’s not a favour. It’s how it’s done. The Italian menu has some Sri Lankan staples, but do not miss the Gamberetti (marinated prawns wrapped in bacon……wow!!) and expect the food to cost a little more than on the street. After all, a lot of it is genuine imported Italian ingredients and they’re always delivered to you within a few minutes. Loved the hammocks. Loved the puppies on the beach. Had a refreshingly long swim or two.

Some may not like the lack of A/C, but there are thoughtfully placed fans in rooms and dining areas and the seabreeze allows you to strategically avoid the worst heat of the day by using the lounge cabanas

One of the best stays I ever had. Beautiful hotel, beautiful location and beautiful staff. It is located 20min from Arugam Bay towards north, at a very peaceful and quiet place in front of the beach. There are not many other places to stay around so the beach was almost private for us. Only locals came to swim as well. Our goal was to surf, and at this time of the year there weren’t waves at Whisky Point beach yet, but the hotel arranged us a tuk tuk rental and we could perfectly move around the coast. Good thing about this spot is that is closer to the Lighthouse surf spot which is way less crowded than Arugam Bay and Peanut Farm. The resort is built and decorated with so much style! They take a lot of care to have it tidy and clean all the time. The rooms are very comfortable; we stayed in both Cabana and Pagoda and honestly we loved them the same. Pagoda doesn’t have a bathroom in the room but it was very close downstairs and never busy. The staff was the highlight of our stay. Ana was the hostess and already at the checkin she made us feel so welcomed, relaxed and in very good hands. She helped us with everything we needed and even more, and was so sweet and friendly. The rest of the staff were amazing as well, thinking of every detail and need we could have. Restaurant and food also great. The free breakfast after surfing was a blessing. If we come back to Sri Lanka we will definitely stay at Whisky Point Resort again <3

Everything was more than perfect :)

From the moment you arrive, you already feel looked after. The entire staff make a great team effort to take care of every little thing, from tailoring special trips to your needs to supplying unlimited drinking water. They were also kind enough to let us check out VERY late (8 p.m.) at no extra charge, which meant one more wonderful day on the beach for us <333 And it’s hard to beat sleeping to the sound of the waves… Whisky Point Resort is the ultimate spot for relaxation and I will definitely be back next time I am in Sri Lanka!

You will truly relax here. The property is pretty much spotless and located just meters from the Indian Ocean, which means you can hear the waves ALL NIGHT. The staff is super attentive and thoughtful, from the caretakers to the bartenders to the management. I was also pleasantly surprised to find real Neapolitan pizza, a wide selection of Italian wines, and caffè corretto with Sambuca (!) – just when I started missing European flavors a bit ;) And if that wasn’t enough, the yoga classes first thing in the morning put you in a blissful mood. Would definitely come back <3

We stayed four nights in an open air cabana. Was lovely sleeping to the sound of the ocean. The beach in front of the resort had pretty big waves while we were there, but great for a refreshing dip at the shore. Overall a very relaxing vibe. Not many other businesses in the area; a sleepy and friendly town. Staff were amicable and attentive, and the food in the restaurant was excellent, as well as some fun unusual cocktails. Loved the little touches - free filtered water (including a water bottle for day trips), free laundry, fresh towels. Wild elephants are a short scooter ride away.

Whisky Point Resort was absolutely amazing! It was a five star experience from the moment we arrived. The Resort is breathtaking and the privat beach and cabanas are so beautiful and clean. The staff was absolutely exceptional. They were so friendly helpful and professional. We extended the stay because we loved it so much! The Owners are very thoughtful and organise trips for exaple lagoon safari which was great! We are definitely planing on coming again!

This is PARADISE! exactly like I have seen it described in books. Everything is just created to make you not want to ever leave ❤️ me and my fiancé had such a great experience here. When we have arrived, we had a bad cold, and everyone has mobilized to make us feel better: pills, teas, all kinds of ayurvedic medicines were given to us to make us feel better. I felt like we were at our parents homes, and they're going above and beyond to make us feel better. Rooms: we got an upgrade to a room with bathroom and, even though we paid for the lower one, we were offered for free the upper one - very nice gesture 👍 we never slept better - ocean sound and breeze, there is a balcony for each cabana. Super clean, great design, bathrooms are big. Lovely :) The food: Italian base, I had the best pizza ever. Also, we love soup, so their chicken soup is perfect. Staff: amazing. Also, the owners are very fun and welcoming, it was a pleasure to meet them. Activities: the complex is at the ocean front. So we bathed and sun bathed, the weather was amazing. Also, you can learn how to surf, get a massage, play board games, go to safari, go into the lagoon on the beach or by boat, tuktuk to PottuVill, which is much better than Arugam Bay, being more local. I don't have enough good words for this accomodation. I am now looking at options to come back in Jan-Feb and stay for longer than 3 days 😄

Everything was perfect. Very friendly staff, the bungalows are very beautiful, clean and stylish, nice beach, very good italian food - we can absolutly recommend that place :)

Whisky Point was exactly what we needed after non stop days of go go go. We fell into the loungers and didn’t really move. We booked an extra night after we arrived as it was just so good and soul restoring.

Having virtually only Italian food on the menu was a bit of a surprise. Until we knew to ask for Sri Lankan by ordering the day before.

Understated perfection. Totally in touch with the natural beauty , the buildings and natural gardens blending in to the surroundings. Fantastic owners/hosts who are passionate about everything they provide and nothing is too much trouble. Lovely rooms airy and immaculate. Fantastic quality of food. The perfect place to unwind and relax. Amazing beach. We spent 4 nights.. would have stayed longer. We stayed out of surf season, just 3 or 4 of the 10 rooms occupied. The weather was perfect. Amazing holistic Ayurveda treatments 5 minutes up the beach …. The best.

The food was excellent quality and well priced. The pizzas amazing. The property is known for its Italian themed menu. I loved everything I ate but my criticism would be lacking salad options. The seating in dining area could be more relaxing and comfortable…. That said it wouldn’t put me off and we are going back next year!

I ended up stay at this resort for two days. the scenery is stunning, very close to the beach. the accomodation is clean and comfortable while still being part of nature. the service is exceptional, the staff are willing to help with anything you need. the food was incredible, mostly itialian style food. the owner is italian so you can be assured that the food is authentic. the pizza's are amazing and made in the pizza oven on site. the property is also home two very friendly dogs and a adorable cat. I can say enough good things about this resort. 10/10 , would recommend!

Great spot right by the beach. All facilities, including the bar, restaurant, yoga area and beach loungers were great. Pizza was delicious. Hosts were very helpful and kindly provided a cold coconut drink on arrival.

We had an incredible stay at Whisky Point in December and want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Annushka and Nicola for being extraordinary hosts. They went above and beyond to make our experience unforgettable. Their staff was also exceptionally friendly and attentive. The beachfront house was amazing, offering a peaceful retreat even during the off-season. Despite visiting in December, we enjoyed a variety of activities, including an excellent yaga class with annushka, a lagoon tour, a safari, and a trip to Elephant Rock. Each adventure was well-organized and added a unique touch to our holiday. The food was outstanding—authentic Italian dishes with delicious pizza, superb coffee, and a fantastic breakfast that we could enjoy either by the sea, at the restaurant or in the comfort of our room. The entire team ensured everything was perfect. The property itself was immaculately maintained, creating a serene and inviting atmosphere. Highlights of our stay included an evening bonfire by the beach and a cozy movie night, both of which made our time there extra special. Everyone truly went the extra mile to take care of us. This place is a "pearl in the rough" ! It was like being in Bali twenty years ago with all it's rustic charm and eating the best Italian food out of Italy ! The owners could not do enough....the staff were friendly yet efficient. I celebrated a birthday there with a cake and beach bonfire....sublime ! And, a rarity, saw a beautiful Leopard on safari. Best birthday in 65 years !

Nicola is an awesome host and the italian food is fantastic. Anna was very kind and helped us with booking local activities. The private beach is very calm and inviting to relax. Would recommend going there!

The location is peaceful and very well kept. The beach is quiet and clean. Staff was amazing in assisting us on any request and the food excellent.
