Everything was wonderful. The Lodge, the Service Team and the Kitchen.
Nothing
The lodge is situated in a beautiful arctic landscape, rooms are perfectly designed, breakfast, lunch option and dinner were delicious. The whole staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Activities like riverboat on the Alta river are spectacular.
Likte alt ved stedet. Fantastisk beliggenhet
At Sauna ikke fungerte
Cozy room and great view to the river

Kunnollista.
The booking process and the management assistance when it was needed was exemplary.
What a gem. Super quiet location (good for hiking (several trailheads in walking and short driving distance) and for exploring Alta), nice and cozy rooms, spotless clean, incredible service, absolutely lovely and well trained staff, amazing food.
Minibar fand ich zu teuer
The staff was so nice and helpful, ready to accomodate any needs we had travelling with a 2 year old. Everything was perfect for our stay and prepared in advance so we knew what to expect.
I can't recommend this enough. I ordered a 4 day package and they took care of everything! I only had to arrive at the airport and let them manage the rest. The entire staff is unbelievably friendly and helpful, and the location is so stunning I feel like I had a spiritual experience. Simply breathtaking!
The food was excellent. And the service, all around, was great
We spent 4 nights at this amazing Wilderness Lodge. From great amenities over a very friendly team to the most amazing activities - everything combined made it one of the most amazing trips! It’s the perfect winter break!
It is exactly as it looks in the pictures. We saw northern lights and the room was wonderful. Ice hotel Is next door and very approachable. The design of the building is lovely with quiet rooms and heavy doors, lots of wood, and it’s situated next to the Alta river. The food in both restaurants was good. Welcome drink is nice offer. I felt the ala carte breakfast was not necessary.
It’s very expensive to stay here. Given that, the sauna and relax room is not private yet you’re paying for it. The floor in the sauna needs to be wooden so it doesn’t get so hot. They need a cold plunge in this area, the jacuzzi water wasn’t clear enough in either salt or chlorinated ones.
Sorrisniva is in a fabulous setting. The staff could not have been more helpful. The food and experiences were remarkable. We got to see the Northern Lights, go dog sledding, have a trip in the forest with reindeer and a drink in the ice bar. Just relaxing in the wonderful lodge enjoying the views was a delight. The food in the Maku restaurant is World Class.
Views amazing, ice hotel fantastic, staff who did our excursions were fabulous. Restaurant needs work as slow service and things were forgotten. Transfers VERY expensive - would recommend people to use Alta Taxi instead - 1/4 of price!
We received a lovely welcome and introduction to Sorrisniva by Petros prior to travelling, as well as on arrival. Had a delicious fine dining experience at Maku restaurant. Our room in the lodge was perfect with a fabulous river view. Gorgeous breakfast in the Lavvu restaurant this morning with a variety of local delicacies. We’re sleeping in the ice hotel tonight and look forward to that. Once again, thanks to Petros, you made our stay truly enjoyable!
Our visit to Sorrisniva was the best decision we could have made. The staff and tour guides provided an attention to detail and a genuine kindness rarely seen. They enjoy their jobs and they want you to be happy, too. The meals were outstanding and our room was so comfortable. You have to see the ice hotel for yourself. Pictures don’t do it justice. Now I know why people travel around the world to see it.
We stayed one night in the ice hotel, did the ice sculpting activity during the day of our stay, and had the tasting menu for dinner. The staff was fantastic and really friendly - shoutout to Ida at the front desk, Philip and Romain, as well as Nathan, Magnus, and Maria in the restaurant. We went in the middle of the week during the winter and it was very quiet. We spent time in the main lobby and in the “living room” with the fireplace since you don’t have access to your room in the ice hotel until 8pm. There wasn’t much to do outside of the planned activities and the main lobby is very quiet- you couldn’t really hear the music they had playing. We went for the tasting menu for dinner with the wine pairing. Magnus’s wine pairings were very good and the pours were generous but overall the food didn’t match the price. The ice hotel was a cool experience and we slept well. We enjoyed the sauna that was included the next day. The included buffet breakfast was very good. We borrowed snowshoes and used them on the trails around the property which was great too as the trails are well-marked and maintained. Overall, don’t go halfway: if you’re interested in staying at the ice hotel, spend the extra money to add on the activities or make sure you’re out in nature, or plan to arrive later in the evening. Otherwise you might find yourself sitting around a lot.
The view was great. The lobby was very cozy. The staff were amazing.
The restaurant wasn’t great and menu options were limited.
A beautiful hotel with great service. And the activities arranged through/by them were authentic and exceptional.
Lovely resort in a beautiful building. Large, comfortable and panoramic lobby, lots of seating, with wood fireplaces. The coffee/ bar was nice but the bartender was usually busy elsewhere. The river suite that we had booked was very comfortable, all amenities in place and the bathroom was big and user friendly. The a-la-carte restaurant had a warm and welcoming vibe. Good breakfast and a great menu for lunch and dinner. The staff were helpful and polite though they seemed to be always preoccupied. We were there during the polar nights, saw the northern lights and the beautiful snow bound surroundings in the twilight. A couple of negatives though. The large panoramic windows in the river suite need to be de-iced regularly. No point having these lovely windows and the comfortable armchairs if you can not see the outdoors because the window has iced up. It was a major let-down. The restaurant has a great menu but it is limited. It would be nice to have some short eats and snacks on the menu 24/7 for light meals and hunger pangs while staying up to catch the northern lights. And lastly, the staff need to have better coordination among themselves.
5 shared showers for 27 rooms seems suboptimal. Apparently cleaning those showers after a guest uses them in the morning is too much to ask. I used the handheld shower nozzle to push most of the body hair from the previous guest(s) towards the drain before I started my shower. It was something short of delicious. The dog running through the ice hotel and aggressively nuzzling the deer skins in the deluxe suits was suboptimal. I don’t think the dog relieved itself in our suite, though it smelled as if it might have. Ideally this isn’t the type of thing I, as a client, enjoy thinking about. Staff training was zero out of ten. Communications prior to stay was zero out of ten. There was a Greek guy at the front desk who was personable and friendly. It appears that most of his day was fielding customer complaints.
Our stay was outstanding. The room was amazing - it was spacious, clean and made for a great vantage point to see the Northern Lights. The tea, coffee and water in the room was nice as well. The breakfast was outstanding with a wide range of options to choose from. When we stepped out the front to have a broader view of the Northern Lights, the staff dimmed the outdoor lights which greatly enhanced our viewing of them! We would definitely stay here again!
Sorrisniva is the ultimate artic getaway. The hotel is of a very high standard with excellent facilities, restaurants and rooms. The activities are well planned and executed with knowledgeable and professional guides from around the world. I the Igloo Hitel should not be missed!
Perfect comfortable rooms, very helpful staff, well organized winter activities, quality breakfast
Food portions at Lavvu restaurant are small
We have just returned from an amazing trip to Sorrisniva Arctic Wilderness Lodge where we were lucky enough to have two nights of spectacular northern lights viewing. The lodge is warm, welcoming and wonderful. A cosmopolitan friendly team who looked after our every need. The husky sledging, snowmobiling, and snow shoeing excursions were first rate, the food exceptional. We would return in a heartbeat.
We loved everything about Sorrisniva and our stay. It was even beyond our expectations. And we did have some expectations. Everything was perfect ! The greet for welcoming, all the staff members, the restaurant, the activities and guides for those activities, the lobby where you can comfortably chill by the fire with hot cup of tea and a book and enjoy the beautiful view on the river and mountains... We loved the cosy vibe everywhere, the rooms were perfect, very clean, comfortable, nicely furnitured, beautiful and big bathroom, the big windows really give you this privileged feeling to be part of the wilderness of beautiful Northern Norway while being warm and cosy in your bed or chair with hot blankets... And if you're lucky enough to see some Aurora Borealis/Northern Lights, the terrasse by the room or the big windows, will allow you to witness them first hand while still be comfortably installed in your room ! Definitely will recommend to everyone I know and consider coming back myself as soon as I can ! Thank You !!!
Honestly, nothing... we loved everything about this place...!

Could Improve breakfast spread
Being so isolated, and far from the city centre, Food prices are considered expensive and very Limited Choice.
Loved everything about Sorrisniva. The team, the property, location, food, service, everything was superb! Great way to end our holiday.
Everything was superb! A charming experience. From the warm welcoming and fresh support of the whole staff to the little details of a perfect environment to get some quality relaxing time in the middle of the nature. The hotel has a la carte breakfast and lunch service plus a evening gourmet restaurant if you don't want to drive. The place is super clean and quite, perfectly integrated in the nature of the area surrounded by rocks, rivers, trees and scattering polar lights, which one could even see from the big window of the room. Sauna and massages complete the offer, although they might be not always available depending on the period of the year. Tons of other outdoor activities, we didn't take, but the offer was really huge. Parking is open air with a couple of EV charging stations, they courtesy offer to their guests. Food is delicious and the wine choice abundant. You can even ask to arrange some meal in particular with the kitchen, they are willing to ear your request from one day for the next, for example. Free coffee, tea and water in the hallway as well in the room, which was clean and with a huge stylish bathroom with proper lighting. Alta downtown is some 20mins driving, otherwise in the direct surroundings nothing but nature and hike trails.
Everything comes at some costs and Norway is already not exactly cheap. So if you accept this and decide to make yourself a present, this is the place and the package you won't regret having spent money for. Perhaps a minibar or at least a little fridge in the room could have been expected, considering the hotel category, but unless you want to keep your own fish from the river, you have a 24 hours bar service at disposal.
The most beautiful, peacefilled resort and location I experienced. From the warm and friendly welcome to the absolutely beautifully appointed room with spectacular view to the Alta river and windows extending up so the night stars and Northern nights fill the room at night, magically. Incredibly comfortable beds, and sheets, beautiful bathroom, nespresso machine in room and in the expansive, welcoming, comfortable lobby along with tea selections. The lobby is more of a large living room with views out to the Alta river and a fireplace in the center. The restaurant for dinner was a treat every night. We had the same server nightly: Magnus. Magnus spoke excellent english and explained so beautifully every course we were receiving, and where the meat or produce had come from (all local). Magnus was careful to keep the peaceful feeling of the surroundings: he never laid the silverware with or dishes with a sound! We were amazed, also at the kitchen. The staff seemed to take great care and pride in preparing each dish and we never heard pots clanging or shouts to staff. It was beyond impressive. And the food!! Not only was the presentation over the top fabulous, but each and every dish we ordered over 4 evenings was positively superb. We are grateful to Magnus for making sure we were well cared for and we felt very fond of this sweet and kind young man by the end of our stay. Breakfast and lunch were served in Lavu. Breakfast initially was a la carte, as the hotel wasn't very busy. I believe the lovely young lady who served us was called Olivia? Anyway, she too, was superb and we so enjoyed her and her lovely conversation and help. On our last morning, a breakfast buffet was laid out: so beautifully presented! There was herring, reindeer, turkey, ham, waffles, eggs, bacon, and so much more. It was truly incredible, but we learned that Sorrisniva does everything with excellence! We enjoyed some lovely soups for lunch too. A very talented staff in the kitchen throughout the resort did not go unnoticed. We did a Northern Lights tour one evening with a Danish guide through Sorrisniva. He was terrific and showed us a power point presentation first that helped us to understand more about what we were hoping to see. He did not disappoint us! For 2.5 hours we saw incredible lights! He even made us a small bonfire to keep warm and served hot chocolate. It was cold but not too cold to enjoy the lights. We also did a Sami experience through the resort which was very good and we enjoyed our time with "jack" the Sami gentleman who not only spoke better english than we do, but was a wealth of rich history and adept at explaining the culture and the many struggles they have had and what is most important to them. We were able to visit with his herd of reindeer--gentle, sweet and beautiful animals, and we enjoyed some cake and hot chocolate around a fire in a lavu with Jack, answering many of our questions and chatting. I spend some time in the magnificently appointed sauna and outdoor jacuzzis, all felt brand new and immaculate. A lovely experience. While walking near the resort, I ended up speaking with a gentleman who appeared to be working on the property. He was happy and friendly and we talked about the ice hotel which is built each December on the property--much interesting history at this resort and location on the river. When I mentioned I had had a wonderful conversation with a friendly person working on the property, I was asked what he looked like by the staff and they told me, "Oh, you met the owner!" I can't say how impressed I was with the entire experience!! They have a lovely gift shop too!!
Fantastic location, very nice walks. Staff were very welcoming. Food in the restaurant was also great.
Getting to the hotel can be expensive if you don't have a car. They do offer a shuttle but if two or more are traveling taxis from Alta are much cheaper.
Such a beautiful property. Very luxurious but at same time very cozy and welcoming. We were there 2 nights and on both the nights saw the northern lights from our room itself. Such an amazing experience. The breakfast was too good. Staff was very friendly and nice. They suggested good treks to do nearby. A superb experience overall
Where to begin with a review of Sorrisniva? It doesn’t feel like a hotel review does it justice because it’s so much more than that – it’s an entire experience. We stayed for two nights in February – one in the ice hotel and one in a river view room. We also took advantage of several of the experiences offered at Sorrisniva including the husky sledding and reindeer trip / Sami experience. We ate in both restaurants too. The whole place is just magical and we felt like we were transported to another world from start to finish. The ice hotel is, as you would expect, the most magical place possible. It had a Greek mythology theme when we were there and we chose the room modelled on the Acropolis. Top tip – if you have booked a themed suite, they are allocated on arrival so the earlier you get there, the more chance you have of getting the room you prefer. Having said that though, all of the themed suites were stunning. The set up for staying in the ice hotel is really well thought out and makes the stay so comfortable. You’re given a locker to stash valuables in as you really don’t want to be taking too much into the ice room with you. Your bags then go in a luggage room. There are spotless shower rooms to use before and after your stay in the ice room and you simply pick up your bedding right before you’re ready to go to sleep so that it doesn’t get cold in the room. We were super cosy during the night with our polar sleeping bags and in our thermal gear. Going to sleep in the ice room is utterly unforgettable – it’s so quiet, and, when you turn off the LEDs that illuminate the room, dark as well. And the next morning, when you are ready, you say farewell to the most unique place you will ever sleep and warm up with a shower and a breakfast back in the main hotel. There’s also a sauna if you wake up early and really want to get warm, but we honestly were so comfortable that we didn’t feel the need – preferring instead to have some extra time in our ice room. The river view room where we stayed on night two was also a fabulous room. Such a comfortable bed (which is, despite the coziness of the ice room rather lovely for the next night), lovely chairs to enjoy the view out over the frozen river and a balcony too. There’s also a glass roof to part of the room for Norther Lights viewing. We were lucky enough to see the lights on both nights and although it was magical from the room, the previous night we saw them while having dinner in the fine dining restaurant where the staff will pause service and encourage you all outside to watch the show. What could be better? The food at both the fine dining restaurant and the other – still pretty fine – restaurant was exceptional, with the reindeer you would expect, and really hearty portions to keep you going in the cold. We also enjoyed sitting in the bar by the fire with a drink or two and just marveling at the frozen scenes. The experiences were all superb – the huskies were an absolute highlight, as we got to drive them ourselves down frozen rivers and through a snowstorm. Just wonderful. We also enjoyed walking along the river right in front of the hotel where a trail was marked out to keep us safe. I honestly would not change a thing about this classy, cosy and welcoming venue. Loved every minute.
Rooms and facilities were great, view from the rooms was amazing! The hotel has a relaxed, calm vibe. Food was delicious. Staff was very helpful and kind. Would definitely visit again.
Nydelig sted. Nydelig interiør. Fredelig med elva utenfor. Store vindu for utsikt. Deilig seng og dyner og puter. Skikkelig service-minded personale. Fantastisk mat.
Einfach alles!
The service levels were exceptional by Norweigian standards! The staff were very receptive to our requests including going out of their way to ensure that our vegetarian dietary requirements were taken care of. The location is fabulous on the banks of the river alta and each room has great views. The activities were well organised and highly recommended. Hope to come back in the winters at some point.
Nothing:-)

Sorrisniva tarjoaa hetken luksusta pohjoisessa reissatessa.
