Lavandeira Douro Nature and Wellness exceeded all expectations for our family getaway. The tastefully designed spaces, delicious on-site dining, and attentive staff made it tempting to simply relax at the hotel for our entire stay. While not right in the heart of the Douro, the location is close enough to explore the region. The tranquil setting and top-notch amenities provided the perfect environment for our family to unwind and create lasting memories together. Highly recommend for an exceptional escape to northern Portugal. The amazing hospitality enhanced an already impressive experience.

While not located in the heart of the Douro Valley, it's close enough to easily explore the wine region. However, the serene setting and impressive amenities left us wanting to maximize our time on property.

No river view. On arrival room not ready. Staff not heloful. Unusual mirrored wall that made our room dark and feel smaller. Could be remedied easily. Outdoor chairs would have improved room too.

Beautiful setting, can recommend the Panorama room, which was massive with a great terrace overlooking the vineyard. Beautiful outdoor swimming pool. Lovely locally produced wine.

Rooms were not ready on our arrival despite being check in time. Not able to accommodate us for a wine tasting.

Beleza estética do espaço. Ambiente acolhedor. Funcionários muito simpáticos, prestáveis e descomplicados. Excelente aproveitamento dos espaços e decoração com muito gosto.

Falta uma placa junto da estrada principal que indique de uma forma clara a Quinta. Aparece uma placa minúscula com Rua da Lavandeira. Passa-se de forma desp+ercebida e temos de voltar atrás.

Dos melhores em que já estive… e conheço muitos. Tudo tão perfeito que não parece real.

Apenas um funcionário que pelas 10h05 não podia fazer mais café para não haver desperdício, mas não deixam de merecer 10 por tudo o resto.

Very restful. Accommodation “pods” are very comfortable. Very subtly incorporated into beautiful countryside/ vineyard. Blend of historic and modern.

We stayed six days and the piped beige Muzak was on a loop which by the end I really hated! Small criticism easily fixed by a better range of music. Fabulous place though. We will be back!

Location was great! Really peaceful. Beautiful development and the vineyard surrounding it was beautiful! Really nice swimming pool and staff were very friendly and trained to provide information. Breakfast was amazing. The restaurant has great food. On the Mano house we stayed there was always water to replace in the room, coffee machine, biscuits and a fridge. The wine from the property was really good.

Room was not exactly as the picture, smaller and a bit claustrophobic, without a mirror in the bedroom.

The location was great, far from deep Douro but close to very unique places in the region. The local wine production at Lavandeira is fantastic. The Spa is really well maintained and the breakfast variety is really great. Highly recommend for a relaxing stay.

The diversity and quality of the restaurant is the only downside, for the price you pay the food should be a little bit better.

Falta de opções para almoçar ou petiscar a meio do dia, em períodos de maior afluência, devido a falta de pessoal.

O Hotel é incrível e lindíssimo. Inserido num ambiente envolvente maravilhoso. O quarto era bastante grande e muito confortável. Tinha tudo o que precisávamos. Staff muito simpático e acolhedor. Acho que podem melhorar alguns pormenores mas repetia tudo outra vez, certamente. Vale muito a pena.

Achei alguns serviços um pouco tardios. O pequeno almoço poderia ser servido um pouco mais cedo. Para além disso, ao informarem que podíamos fazer pedidos diferentes à cozinha, pedidos esses que não estariam no buffet (como ovos por exemplo) pedi Ovos Benedict, um clássico. Não faziam. Mas faziam outras coisas, já é bom! O pequeno almoço, no geral, é muito bom! O ginásio só abre às 09:00. Para quem gosta de treinar mais tempo e em jejum, ou com pouca coisa no estômago, fica dificil; ou quase perdemos o pequeno almoço, ou só vamos ao ginásio depois de comer. A receção do spa deveria ter alguém. Houve hóspedes a usufruir da piscina interior sem touca, enquanto outros tiveram de pagar uma, e para pedir toalhas para o ginásio tive de me deslocar à receção principal.

A paisagem é a decoração de tudo!

De alguma falta de organização, quando chegamos e ao jantar a falta de sensibilidade do chefe de cozinha.

O alojamento era qualquer coisa de extraordinário. Paisagens espectaculares.

Restaurante… A minha mulher está grávida e o chefe não fazia a mínima ideia do que significava não ser imune a toxoplasmose. Foi lhe servido varias vezes comida que ela não podia comer… mesmo depois de ser bem frisado o problema.

Considero o pequeno almoço soberbo. A quinta é fabulosa e muito silenciosa. O quarto tinha varanda, ponto extremamente positivo.

We stayed in the Brenda Terrace Room, and it was truly one of a kind. We’ve never stayed anywhere quite like it - the huge windows overlooking the valley make the room an experience in itself, and the views are absolutely beautiful. The hotel as a whole is stunning, with beautiful design and architecture. The pool area in particular feels very peaceful, relaxing and luxurious. We also loved that the hotel never felt overly crowded, even though we stayed towards the end of August. The food at the restaurant was also excellent and we really enjoyed everything we ate there. Breakfast was particularly good, with a great selection as well as options such as freshly made omelettes and freshly squeezed orange juice every morning. The staff were also genuinely lovely, very friendly and welcoming throughout our stay.

Unfortunately, the service really didn’t match the standard of the hotel or the price we paid, which was particularly disappointing because this place has so much potential. The hotel seemed very understaffed during our stay. It often felt as though there were only two waitresses looking after the entire property, and we regularly had to walk back to reception to ask for very basic things. You’re supposed to be able to order food and drinks by the pool from the bar menu, but one day there was no member of staff at the pool at all. After a couple of hours, we went to the restaurant simply to ask for some water to take back to the pool, but were told it wasn’t possible. When we asked where we could get water instead, we were given directions to a shop outside the hotel that we would have needed to drive to. For a hotel of this standard, particularly one in such an isolated location, not being able to get something as basic as water while spending the day by the pool was very surprising. There was also quite a significant language barrier, which made even very simple requests surprisingly difficult and often involved going back and forth with translation apps. Of course, we don’t expect everyone in Portugal to speak English, but for a hotel at this price point welcoming international guests, it is something to keep in mind if you don’t speak Portuguese. The staff themselves were always lovely, and it genuinely felt like an understaffing issue rather than a lack of willingness to help. However, when you are paying this much for a hotel, you naturally expect the service and overall experience to reflect the price. The room and the setting are so special that they do make you overlook or accept some of these shortcomings, and there were many moments when we felt incredibly lucky to be staying somewhere so beautiful.

Pool, territory

Beautiful and spotlessly clean. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The highlight is definitely the rooms and the beautiful surrounding areas, although unfortunately, they are often left unattended. The hotel feels seriously understaffed and this has a significant impact on the overall experience.

The same staff seem to be covering reception, the restaurant, the buggies and the swimming pool which means that important areas are often left unattended. For example, there was nobody at the swimming pool bar/station. If someone had been there, we would have ordered more drinks and enjoyed using the area more. Seeing a beautiful bar completely unattended really takes away from the atmosphere. We also asked for water and never received it. The restaurant was particularly disappointing in terms of service. Dinner took around 2.5 hours and on one occasion it took approximately 45 minutes just to receive two children’s ice creams and a petit gâteau. We were left unattended because the person serving us went elsewhere. Eventually, when we were clearly frustrated, someone came over and asked, in a rather unfriendly tone, if we wanted anything. This was the only occasion when we experienced an unfriendly attitude, but it was particularly noticeable because we had been left waiting for so long. There were also repeated issues with the bills. Not a single bill was completely correct during our stay. We ate at the restaurant twice and the charges were confusing. For example, the couvert was listed as €3.50. On the first night, there were two adults and one five-year-old child and we were charged for one couvert. On the second night, there were three adults, a five-year-old and a ten-year-old and we were charged for four couverts. We were told that the couvert was charged per person, but this did not make sense, as the couvert was exactly the same amount and there was no additional bread or anything else provided. If it was genuinely charged per person, the numbers should have been consistent on both nights. The staff were unable to explain the difference. Besides that, it was not stated on the menu that the couvert was charged per person or whether children were included. We were also charged for three ice creams when only two were consumed.

Todo o espaço e ambiente, a piscina-lago, as vistas,… a decoração! Os funcionários são simpáticos e educados.

O restaurante estraga toda a estadia. Referir que a equipa é má é estar a dar um grande elogio. Desde comida mal confecionada - plástica, fria ou sem tempero, vinho servido após o prato principal, 1:10h à espera de 3 tostas sendo que o queijo até frio veio,… as mil desculpas dos funcionários não conseguem colmatar o péssimo serviço prestado. No spa, a sauna e o banho turco estavam desligados - entramos e “têm reserva?” / “sim” / “ok, podem seguir”. No geral, uma falta de organização de toda a equipa.

La Lavandeira est encore en processus de construction d’où certains details qui doivent encore être améliorés mais la direction est consciente des ‘petits défauts’ ce qui est de très bonne augure!

Apesar do pequeno almoço ser bom, não era soberbo como o local. Esperava mais.

- Simpatia e atenção do Staf. - conforto e decoração do quarto e zonas comuns. - boa gastronomia no restaurante do hotel, com uma carta de cozinha tradicional bem variada. - bom pequeno almoço. - embora tenha 3 piscinas, incluindo uma interior, apenas utilizei a maior piscina que mais parece um lago, e é muito agradável. - ambiente muito tranquilo. - trilhas para caminhadas e disponibilidade de bicicletas elétricas para passeios. Sem dúvida um hotel 5⭐️ embora apenas tenha indicado 4. Recomendo vivamente uma estadia neste hotel, para carregar baterias (tb tem carregador de carros elétricos 😉).

O único senão poderá ser os acessos a zona envolvente de Baião, mas o sossego tem esse preço.

De locatie is prachtig! We verbleven in een huisje, met eigen terras. Het huisje was erg ruim en lijkt me ook in de winter een fijne, rustige plek. Je bent echt los van de andere gasten. Het zwembad is heel erg mooi.

Het restaurant viel erg tegen. Vooral het diner was teleurstellend. Omdat het op het terrein was en de rest zo goed geregeld was, was dit een groot contrast. Het eten/diner was flauw, en op onze hele reis eigenlijk het minste eten dat we gegeten hebben (ontbijt was oké). Verder is er een hele rare regel dat je borg moet betalen voor je handdoeken. In een viersterren-hotel vind ik dit raar. Er waren blijkbaar eerder veel handdoeken gestolen door gasten. Waarom deel je de handdoeken uit bij het inchecken en niet gewoon bij het zwembad, waar je deze ook inneemt na gebruik? Er was blijkbaar ook een heel menu qua eten bij het zwembad, maar daar kwamen we te laat achter. Sommige dingen kunnen echt nog een stuk beter.

Small one but the shower and drainage kept blocking in the bathroom. This was compounded by the fact the shower didn't have a door. We had water running throughout the bathroom and had to use towels to try manage the water on the floor. This limited our time that we could use the shower. We notified reception but the problem wasn't resolved beyond additional towels provided.

Espaço envolvente, lago/piscina. O pequeno almoço foi ótimo 10/10. A comida do restaurante também foi muito boa. O quarto branda era muito giro.

O quarto era muito giro, mas com muita clareza logo pela madrugada/manhã o que dificultou o sono. O ral do duche deveria ser mais eficiente no escoamento da água, pois em poucos segundos ficava a base inundada para a restante casa de banho. O serviço do restaurante no sábado foi demasiado lento, devido ao número de pessoas a jantar.

Hotel muito bonito, rodeado de natureza. A zona da piscina é muito bonita. Bom restaurante e bom pequeno almoço. Staff muito atencioso.

Las instalaciones del hotel son espectaculares, el sitio en el que se ubica también es muy bonito. Lo tienen muy cuidado, limpio y el sitio la verdad que es un paraíso.

Honestamente el servicio dejó mucho que desear, no estaba a la altura del hotel. No sé si por falta de personal pero te atendían muy por encima, faltaba dedicación y tiempo. Por ejemplo, en el checkin no nos dieron ninguna información de la finca, de lo que podíamos hacer, las actividades, todo lo tuvimos que mirar por internet y aún así lo que aparecía en la página luego no podían ofrecerlo. No nos ofrecieron para hacer el picnic, ni una visita por la finca, no nos explicaron que había una ruta de pasadizos para visitar, el bar de la piscina estaba cerrado y cuando venía personal a dejar bebidas a otros huéspedes no se paraban a preguntarte si querías algo. El bar de dentro también parecía cerrado porque nunca había nadie en la barra, incluso antes de cenar que mientras esperábamos mesa nos hubiera gustado tomar algo, no había nadie porque estaban saturados. Cuando pagas lo que pagas por alojarte allí, no es el servicio que esperas obtener. Tampoco funcionaba el aire del restaurante y te sentías como dentro de una sauna o si funcionaba pero decían que con las puertas abiertas no se notaba. Si había un maitre muy profesional pero no daba a todo y por eso el servicio no llegaba a ser bueno en general.

O alojamento era optimo principalmente para uma familia com crianças. A piscina era incrivel e bastante kids friendly. O restaurante é bastante bom com um bom menu e carta de vinhos. Todo o staff foi sempre bastante disponivel e simpatico, sempre pronto a adaptar e ajudar a tronar a estadia boa para nós e para a nossa filha.

O restaurante poderia ter um menu especifico de almoço com opções mais leves.

Tivemos uma excelente estadia. O hotel é muito bonito, bem cuidado, inserido num ambiente tranquilo, e toda a equipa foi extremamente simpática e prestável, o que tornou a experiência muito agradável.

No entanto, houve dois aspetos que merecem melhoria. No restaurante, após fazermos o pedido, aguardámos cerca de 40 minutos sem que nos fosse servida sequer uma garrafa de água. Só depois desse tempo nos informaram que se tinham esquecido de enviar o nosso pedido para a cozinha. Durante a espera foi possível verificar que várias mesas enfrentavam atrasos semelhantes, o que demonstrava alguma falta de organização do serviço naquele momento. Além disso, durante a noite ficámos sem água no hotel. Pelo que nos foi comunicado, esta situação já tinha acontecido em dias anteriores, mas não existiu qualquer aviso prévio aos hóspedes. Ter essa informação antecipadamente teria permitido gerir melhor a situação e evitar o incómodo. Apesar destes contratempos, a experiência global foi bastante positiva e acreditamos que, corrigindo estes aspetos, o hotel poderá proporcionar uma experiência ainda melhor.

The pool and restaurant areas are great. It is a big property that allows you to walk around and hike which is really nice given how secluded it is.

We had several issues during our stay which were never addressed or acknowledged at check out. Namely: 1. The door to our room was extremely old and was not functioning properly which meant it would sometimes open by itself. 2. The door to our room’s bathroom did not close at all 3. On the second day of our stay the hotel experienced a complete power outage. This meant that we had no power and no water in the entire property. While this is not the hotel’s fault, the staff failed to advise us about this, failed to keep us posted about the solution and did not offer to help us manage during this time. We were without power and without being able to use the toilet or shower for over 8 hours (from 8 am to 4 pm) and I feel like the staff did not even try to make it better for the guests. We ended up leaving the hotel because of this. Overall, there is a lot of construction within the property, and I do not feel like the hotel is very well managed. While the facilities are really good, the rooms are extremely poor and uncomfortable with only the tiniest window and, in our case, with broken lights. Just very poorly kept overall. The staff are helpful but not very nice in nature and keep giving guests conflicting information/hotel rules. I would not recommend this hotel, especially given the high price point. You can get a much better experience in nearby hotels for the same price point. We will not be staying here again.

Una meraviglia! Tutto curato nel dettaglio. Piscina esterna grande e comoda sia per nuotare che per rilassarsi. Grandi spazi esterni dove passeggiare, fare lunghe camminate o sdraiarsi al sole e godere della natura circostante. Ci sono diverse tipologie di camere in cui soggiornare, molto diverse tra loro, ma tutte ispirano un soggiorno indimenticabile. Noi eravamo in quelle della struttura originaria, un’antica casa padronale in pietra del XVIII secolo 😍 (c’è anche una piccola chiesa e un’altra piscina esterna).

Buona la colazione, anche se avrei preferito delle uova “espresse”. Anche il ristorante valido ma non allo stesso livello del resto della struttura. La spa è grande, c’è una piscina di media dimensione con un getto e vari punti con idromassaggio. Sicuramente il bagno turco e la sauna sono troppo piccole, ma veramente molto piccole, come non mi era mai capitato (e di spazio ce ne sarebbe molto).

Mooie en zeer rustige locatie. Het is rustig, de groene omgeving is prachtig. Het personeel is vriendelijk en behulpzaam, de kamer was ruim en proper. De wellness is klein maar fijn! Het ontbijt is uitgebreid en het eten in het restaurant is lekker.

De chaos en zeer trage bediening. Het team mist structuur. Op verschillende momenten moesten we zeer lang wachten om bijvoorbeeld een drankje te krijgen. Er werden zaken vergeten, zowel drank als eten. Het is lekker en verzorgd, maar de bediening was hierdoor niet volgens onze verwachting.

Our stay at Lavandeira Douro was simply exceptional. The property itself is stunning, but what truly sets it apart is the attention to detail. The cleanliness is on another level, and the amazing scent throughout the property creates such a relaxing and luxurious atmosphere from the moment you arrive. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the towels felt very high quality — all the small details that make a stay truly memorable. Every single staff member was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful — from the reception to the restaurant team — with a special shoutout to Ricardo for his kindness and professionalism. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, who was incredibly warm and welcoming. Hearing the story behind the property directly from her was truly inspiring and made the experience even more special. The restaurant food was exceptional and clearly lives up to its strong reputation. Everything we tried was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. Their in-house wine is also excellent and pairs perfectly with the menu, adding another highlight to the experience. The surroundings are equally beautiful, with scenic trails leading to a nearby river and even down to the Douro River itself, making the stay feel peaceful and connected to nature. In short, we cannot recommend this place enough. A truly memorable experience that we would gladly return to.

No puedo decir nada que no me haya gustado.

O envolvimento com a natureza, a arquitectura e toda a envolvencia com a tradição aliado ao moderno, desde o museu dos carros, as vinhas, aos passadiços em torno da quinta e do rio. As casas e arquitectura das mesmas, inseridas na atmosfera territorial que as envolve, respeitando a natureza. A cozinha (elmo) que tem um toque muito próprio do chefe Paulo Magalhães onde se destaca como entrada a patanisca waffle que tem uma criação interessante e deliciosa, o magnífico arroz de tomate que acompanha os pratos de carne mais nobres, e pra finalizar a sobremesa bimbastica de 4 chocolates, uma meia esfera de camadas distintas e mistura de 4 chocolates, que da vontade de repetir. Tudo isto aliado a um excelente vinho e espumante de produção própria. Um espaço onde realmente tudo combina e o conforto se destaca. SPA com todo o serviço associado, um serviço VIP de buggy para os clientes ate aos respectivos quartos que é uma mordomia para os clientes. Tivemos a possibilidade de desfrutar de toda a quinta e do que ela nos tinha para proporcionar Simplesmente um bom momento e que deu para telaxar, namorar e acima de tudo desfrutar. Recomendo e recomendo....

Breath taking property with attention to detail everywhere. Wonderful staff, very friendly and helpful. Wonderful spa with indoor pool, steam room, and sauna. Bed was incredibly comfortable which was great since we were so ill.

My husband and I had TERRIBLE food poisoning from the restaurant Elmo on the facility. We terribly were sick for 24hrs

Absolutely gorgeous area! Beautiful greenery, flowers and home grown goods. Honestly so picturesque. Spa was great, pool area lovely too and dining area very chic.

Firstly the rooms were a bit delayed in getting ready which is fine that happens. Unfortunately the Manor House rooms are the oldest so definitely can tell things need to be fixed! Our bathroom door do not close at all and had barely any natural sunlight. One of the rooms showers were broken. The food tastes great but not a huge amount of choice if you’re staying there for a few nights otherwise it feels samey samey. Unfortunately three members woke up with food poisoning and they had eaten the same meal so it’s likely this was caused by the dinner we ate (the fish).

Pequeno-almoço, muito fraco e com pouca qualidade, com exceção do sumo de laranja. O jantar para esquecer, sem alma, mal confeccionado e de fraca qualidade. pedimos um "pica-pau" para petiscar, imensa quantidade de chouriço e carne, quase nada. Zonas comum, hall recepção e espaço bar sem aquecimento (AC), ou seja estamos sujeitos a grandes diferenças de temperatura até ao acesso ao restaurante ou até aos quartos. A rever. Finalmente, estivemos alojados no quarto nr. 8 da Casa Senhorial e os perigos são demais. tem pisos desnivelados, com degraus que deveriam ser sinalizados. Um deles, um pouco curto, deveria estender-se a todo o comprimento do desnível, até à divisória do WC e não nos condicionar a falhar e provocar uma queda.

De tudo. Atendimento maravilhoso, localização um verdadeiro sonho, restaurante incrível, staff dedicado eficiente e acolhedor, comida requintada, saborosa, e maravilhosamente servida! O espaço exterior incrível o interior sem palavras. Faz-nos querer ficar, o silêncio acolhe e cura. O spa relaxa mas a massagem feita pela profissional Tânia eleva a outro nível. Sentimos que estamos em casa a cada recanto.

Não tem nada para não se gostar, mesmo que me esforçasse muito.

O espaço é lindíssimo, a comida muito boa, o staff super atencioso e adoramos as piscinas, tanto a interior como a exterior.

ficamos no quarto com o lagar. foi uma excelente surpresa. esteve tudo optimo e só posso recomendar todo o hotel. staff simpatico. a cozinha é muito boa. nota de excelencia para o arroz de costelinha e polvo assado com arroz. embora o serviço tenha sido ligeiramente demorado.

Adorei Tudo! O envolvimento calmo mas sofisticado com vistas fantásticas, o serviço, os Colaboradores (todos jovens )muito simpáticos, disponíveis e profissionais, a comida! Recomendo vivamente este local !

Very peaceful and well appointed hotel. Option to use kitchen facilities if in the main house. Staff exceptional.

Better vegetarian options would be nice, however Portugal isn't the most vegetarian friendly destination outside of the main cities.

The staff was lovely and they clearly want to make you stay as pleasant as possible. It's such a beautiful peaceful spot so close to Porto. I want to head back to Portugal just to spend a few days here.

As instalações novas e os espaços comuns.

As instalações antigas ( main house) onde fiquei hospedado. Não é o meu estilo, e wc pequeno, e falta de pressão de água.

Location is very nice and estate is very beautiful and large! Receptionists and the cook were extremely nice.

Unfortunately we do not speak Portuguese and the level of English of certain restaurant/bar staff members was not that good, which complicated communication. For a hotel of this standing, we would highly recommend the service staff to improve their English.

Beautiful property. The pool area was a highlight. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend the restaurant on site, the food was delicious and they were knowledgeable about catering for a celiac guest.

O local era incrível, super calmo. A cama era bastante confortável e o quarto estava a uma boa temperatura. A piscina era agradável e o pequeno almoço também.

O único comentário seria terem mais locais onde pendurar as toalhas no WC. De resto, perfeito.

A cama era muito dura, tivemos problemas com a água (mas rapidamente resolvido pelo staff). Sempre que a equipa ia fazer a limpeza, deixavam alguma coisa para trás…

Alojamento formidável, com diferentes recantos mas todos acolhedores. Piscina interior com boas espreguiçadeiras super confortáveis. Os rececionistas sempre prontos para nos transportar nos carrinhos de golfe, sempre que precisamos (ficamos num quarto da casa senhorial, que data do séc VIII, mas com todas as comodidades . Restaurante com comida muito boa e de preço acessível. Adoramos e tencionamos voltar
