All the mini details count and we noticed such a cool stay our 4 year old was very happy too thanks for a great stay would highly recommend!

A beautiful restoration and transformation of this old building. So tastefully completed and decorated.

Perfect location within the Hokitika own center a short walk from everything. Excellent facilities including EV chargers.

The only negative would be there is less sound insulation between the apartments that you might have expected.

this place was amazing. We had no phone or internet access due to a technical glitch with 'roaming" We were running late and didnt have directions. We stopped at a little cafe ( Oscar's Haus excellent place) and got coffee and used wifi to send them a message. Realising we wouldnt get a return message the manager was waiting for us to show us now the door code worked. The room was great and the bed super comfy and the decor and bathroom really nice. The place was quiet at night. Walking distance to shops and restaurants etc. Would highly recommend Great place to stay to see the glaciers

there are stairs.. I dont like stairs LOL but doesnt take away from the place at all

I would highly recommend this accommodation. We could not fault it. Very clean, heaps of tea, coffee, a coffee pod machine, as well as a plunger AND a tea pot. A good sized milk. Amenities are fantastic, laundry AND and ice machine. Don't stay anywhere else in Hokitika.

Heat pump didnt work properly so a chilly night in the room. Settee bed uncomfortable.

We had a wonderful one-night stay at Hokitika Fire Station. It was such a unique and memorable place to stay, with a great atmosphere and plenty of character. Everything was clean, comfortable, and well looked after. We really enjoyed the experience and appreciated the hospitality. Staying at a fire station was something different and made our trip to Hokitika even more special. We would happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and enjoyable place to stay.

Outstanding accommodation! It is so rare to find accommodation for 5 (2 adults and 3 children) where we are able to all stay together in one room versus having to book two separate rooms, we really appreciated this! The room was absolutely spotless, warm and incredibly comfortable, even the sofa bed! You can really tell Kerry and the team have taken incredible care, time and thought into making sure their guests feel welcome in such an epic space. Beautiful amenities, more than enough coffee and a fully stocked laundry made our stay just a bit more special. Shoutout to the housekeeping team, you are epic!!! It really was as if we were the first people to use our room, incredible! Thank you Kerry and team we had a great weekend!

It’s so quirky but with high end facilities- we loved it! Time and effort has been put into everything in the apartments! The outside fire was great even though it was freezing out!

It was unique and very well designed. The location was perfect as it was walking distance to a lot of places around the town.

Modern, clean, warm plenty of space to relax in and had a really lovely ambience. Loved the design features paying tribute to the fire stations past.

This property has been lovingly restored to provide unique apartments in the heart of Hokitika. Super clean (which impressed the boss) and very comfortable rooms. Owners and staff were very accommodating to our requests, bike storage was a huge bonus and weather was amazing!

I highly recommend this accommodation. Especially for anyone who has served as a fire fighter. Beautiful rooms with historical items of interest to be found around the hotel. Walking distance to everything in the town, historical buildings, and the beach.

Loved the decore, facilities, location, space, layout and cleanliness.

Sound proofing is not present so if you stay, bring ear plugs.

The location is close to everything, beach and eateries. The character of the building is charming and the decor delightful :) Great sound proofing, immaculately clean.

Booking description was not clear. it seems both Studio and One Bedroom apartment use the same description in the details ie; Bedroom: Large King Bed Lounge: Sofa bed However a Studio of course is only one room! Better clarification will help us avoid a mistake next booking.

This is the cleanest property I have ever stayed at. We all felt like we were at home. The attention to detail was like no where we have ever stayed. Down to the laundry baskets, ice maker.. honestly the best accommodation hands down in our travels.

Hokitika Fire Station Boutique Accommodation had the most comfortable mattress and bedding we experienced during our two-week South Island road trip! We slept incredibly well and felt completely refreshed. The room was beautifully designed, with plenty of fascinating historic fire station memorabilia that gave it a unique character and charm. The location is excellent, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. Everything about our stay was perfect and far exceeded our expectations. We would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Hokitika!

This place is INCREDIBLE!!!! An old Fire station which has been converted into boutique accommodation. Clean, comfortable, modern and historical. The small touches were genius! So many fabulous things to say about this place - I have raved about it to all my friends and would stay again in a heartbeat!

I loved everything about this place. The attention to detail that has gone into the entire building is amazing. There are little treasures to find throughout the property. The rooms were immaculate and even as we were leaving they were repainting the deck. Spoke with one of the owners as we were leaving and you could see how passionate he was about the restoration and keeping the history of the building. Couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. So much space and walking distance to everything.

The friendly staff, the quality of the accommodation and the history of the building. I just want to restore the old appliance out the front. Make sure to check out the Hokitika museum located next door.

Being an old building the sound proofing between levels is average meaning you hear footsteps of guests on the level above. If you're light sleeper book a first floor apartment.

Unique place to stay with a lot of history. Room was very nice with attention to decor which made the place feel unique. Close to the main street for restuarants

Very luxurious high end accommodation, perfect location to walk to town centre. All facilities within the apartment were high spec and you could see a lot of thought had been put into the refurbishment. We liked the quirky fire brigade mementos and even the pole made us laugh. Sadly the weather was awful when we was there so we stayed in and enjoyed the comforts of such top notch accommodation.

Spent two nights in the Chief Shain studio, and literally said "wow" when we walked in. Spacious, modern, light-filled, spotless, thoughtfully equipped, and super cool 'on point' decoration and memorabilia. Great location for exploring the (also super cool and quirky) Hokitika town easily, on foot if desired. We found it utterly quiet, slept very well in the comfy bed. Oh, even as Canadians :) we often found NZ accommodation to be a bit chilly, especially the floors...not at all here, it was noticeably cozy, obviously well insulated! While the hotel doesn't have a traditional 'reception', all the logistics - booking, arrival /parking/entry/departure info was all clear and uncomplicated. We did briefly meet the owner one morning, and he enthusiastically provided in-depth local recommendations for our day. Looking back, this was one of our favourites of all the places we stayed on our trip - great value, too! I wouldn't hesitate to return.

This is an ideal location, close to the beach, cafes and shops, and the apartment was beautifully decorated with quality amenities. Kerry and his team did everything possible to make our stay a memorable one. We couldn't recommend the Fire Station 🔥 highly enough.

Nicely presented and unusual in style. Well appointed with quality fittings and amenities. Perfect down to the tiniest detail, such as neatly arranged cutlery in the drawer. Lots of information provided eg re food and services nearby. Entry with code so much more convenient than keys

What’s not to love? What a fantastic place - SO much thought and attention to detail put into it and SO comfortable- best mattress & pillows we’ve had on this trip! Very modern and clean and comfortable and brilliant keeping with the theme!

This accomodation was incredible. Beautiful space, deco so nice with nice touches to its original function as a fire station. Everything was super clean. Good kitchenette facilities. Location a minutes stroll to centre. Honestly couldn’t fault anything. The owners deserve the praise.
