Xanadu Makadi Bay - High Class All Inclusive

We had a wonderful stay at the Xanadu Makadi Bay Hotel. It's a fantastic hotel, especially the French restaurant. All the staff are very attentive, and the manager, Nour Mohammed, goes out of his way to ensure guests are comfortable. We will definitely stay at this hotel again.

Best all inclusive hotel we’ve stayed in by a mile .. staff from reception to shuttle drivers towel guys waiters all brilliant. Mohamed the beach waiter in the day and in the main show bar on an evening was unreal couldn’t do more to help and make sure you were never without a drink 🍻 top bloke ! Also special mention for Abdu the guy who kept our room spotless and us entertained each night with his shapes , animals etc made from towels brilliant effort and helped make the holiday extra special!! 1st hotel we’d consider returning to in the future!

We’ve started our last days here and can only say that it has been a wonderful vacation. Everyone—from the waiters to housekeeping to guest relations—does absolutely everything to make you feel comfortable. We had a few minor inconveniences, but Gülnaz Karatayeva from guest relations resolved them more than correctly, for which we are very grateful and appreciative. The team at the outdoor restaurant definitely deserves a special mention as well. Thank you so much Mohamed A. Al-Azm, Hasaan Heseen, and Mohamed Sayed for your service, your smiles, your friendship, and the highlight: making our daughter’s birthday an unforgettable day. We will also miss the cheerful and attentive service at our sunbeds from Ahmed Refai and Walid Gamal. And then our housekeeper, Fawez from room 5304, who made our room look beautiful every day—not to mention the amazing towel creations, with the highlight being the room decoration for our daughter’s birthday. What the staff put together for New Year’s was incredible: cocktails, snacks, beautifully decorated tables, delicious food presented so elegantly, and impeccable service. Respect for all the hard work! Of course, there were also things that could have been better, such as the service in the lobby, pool bar, beach bar, and the Turkish à la carte restaurant. But it was certainly not a big issue. Please note that in the hotel are a lot of Russian people. Thank you to the entire team for this top-notch experience!

Our stay at Xanadu Luxury Resort was truly outstanding. Beautiful resort, spotless rooms, excellent food, and a very relaxing atmosphere. What impressed us the most was the staff – professional, friendly, and always attentive. The beach and pools are perfectly organized, and everything feels effortless and well thought out. A high-quality resort that truly deserves its reputation. We would gladly return and highly recommend it.

Perfect holiday experience. Spotlessly clean, attentive staff, food all day. Very large hotel, ideal for families with kids

The hotel is about a 30 minute drive from the airport, in expansive and well maintained grounds. The site itself is huge, but we never felt crowded or cramped. The main building is where most of the restaurants and main buffet are found. The accommodations here are the 4 wings either side of the pools. From the main building as you walk through the resort towards the sea you pass through the Dunes blocks, which are mostly bungalows with garden views. From the Dunes you then come to Fancyland which is the kids club, and the Lagoon area with accommodation, pool, lounge bar and entertainment ampitheatre. And then you arrive at the beach with the last couple of a la carte restaurants and fitness centre. For those considering a swim up room we didn't see anyone really using the swim up pools, they seemed very chilly and didn't get the afternoon sun. We found the main pools on the cooler side, fine for adults but our 4 year old preferred the heated lake and lagoon pools. The lifeguards at both pools were attentive and helped set up our loungers with towels. We found the lake pool was in shadow from about 3pm onwards so tended to spend our afternoons at the Lagoon Pool. Big shout to Omar at the Lagoon Pool who went out of his way to befriend our son and found him a swimming float aid to encourage his swimming efforts. We also found the bar team here really friendly and attentive too. The beach is crowded with sunbeds and parasols very close together. The guys in the towel desks are good at finding empty beds. They will also give you a red 'Do Not Disturb' flag which stops the tour and spa guys from bothering you. The beach is sandy with a gradual entrance into the sea with lifeguard lookouts and a buoyed off area for very little tots to safely splash in. There were plenty of fish to see whilst snorkeling. Our room was a Dune Superior Garden View with a double and single bed and a sofa. The room offered plenty of for our family of 3 with patio doors to the shared outside garden area. The bathroom was huge with a walk in shower. We came back to towel art most days, and our room was always clean and nicely presented. The mini bar was stocked with water, soft drinks and beer. Food wise we had no complaints with the hotel. Mostly ate our breakfast in Otia, yes its busy and loud, but great for people watching. The team there are really quick at turning tables around from one family to the next. They appreciate please, thank you and general kindness so much, and will happily help find tables and hot drinks. Just be polite! I recommend the fresh strawberry or mango juice for breakfast. Its the same for dinner loud and busy, just go with the flow and drink the rose wine. There is always plenty of variety of food on offer, and a kids corner with child/fussy eater food on offer. Special mention of Mohammed Said in Otia who was always cheerful and happy. We ate in all the included a la cartes: Agora (middle east) was nice food, but be aware they close promptly even if you've not finished your meal. It's open air so bring a light wrap or jumper in the cooler months. Agora was good for a quieter lunch buffet. Taj Mahal was nice food and excellent service. Turkuaz again was nice food, service was friendly but rather slow. Dolce Vita was husband's favourite, best food and service of the a la cartes. La Cascade was really nice too, attentive service and it was my favourite. We tried Ariel for breakfast, but found it quiet and soul-less. It was like sitting in a glass box. The crepes were nice though. We looked at the fish menu for dinner but decided against a visit, Ariel also offers pizza for lunch, but it didn't seem a popular option. We considered Dragon (pay extra) but will probably try on our next visit. For lunch we ate a couple of times on Otia, but tended to just get sandwiches from the Lagoon Bar. We did try Patisserie Corner in the Lobby area after returning late from Luxor, the lady there was cheerful and friendly and the cakes nice. In conclusion the resort is huge, but we were always able to find our own space. We found the vast majority of the staff there very helpful and friendly. Our little boy recommends Fancyland. We had no issues with food or booking the a la carte restaurants. Would we stay again? Most definitely. We had already decided to do so before we left.

We had a fabulous week here. Main building superior double room was spacious, spotlessly clean and close to most things. Mini bar was full of waters..sodas..milk and beers. A selection of coffee and teas also. Food was delicious, varied and again everything was spotless. We did 2 A la cartes..Indian & the Turkish , again service and food was good but we did feel a little rushed but that was a.minor thing. Staff are such an asset to this hotel whether you tipped or not, always smiling and happy to help. We had one small problem with our water going off in our room.. within 10 mins of a call to reception an engineer was on his way and it was resolved quickly. Plenty of walks from the hotel along the beach in the Makadi Bay Area. Lots of nationalities and a nice laid back relaxing atmosphere but I think the beach area was more livelier. Very good value for money.

Well as the title suggests,I have been to this wonderful hotel a few times and aim to be back in March 2026. As soon as you come into this hotel you can feel the class ooze as you look around the spacious and modern reception. Booking in was a breeze and we were in our room as soon as we finished our welcome drink. The guest relation team led by Gulnaz were a dream to deal with ,they are so helpful and friendly. Our experience in the French alacarte was excellent too as Nour Kandeel took us to our booked table and looked after our needs throughout the meal. Nour is very attentive and is great asset to this wonderful hotel. When we used the buffet Mohammed Aboelazm was always on hand with a welcome and smile as he looked after us there no matter if it was breakfast,lunch or main meal, another great member of the team at Xanadu. At the main pool area Mohamed Mahrous ensured that our daily refreshments were always fresh and cold , again great service. I can never recommend this hotel enough and thought it couldn't be better , but the added New Xanadu club has added a little bit of pizzazz to it. We can't wait to go back to my second home in March, see you all soon.

We have just spent a fabulous two weeks holiday in Xanadu. It has exceptional staff throughout the hotel. The hotel is set in large beautifully manicured gardens on the shores of the Red Sea with a very clean large beach with every facility you could want and safe crystal clear waters for swimming supervised by lifeguards. Rooms are large and very modern. Our swim up room was pure luxury and had a very friendly room attendant. The main hotel restaurant had a very large choice of food which varied every day and was of a high standard. The Al a Carte restaurants were all exceptional. Our favourites were the Italian with the ever smiling Hamby and his efficient staff and the French with the best fillet steak ever. The whole complex is immaculately clean. All in all this is a fabulously place to spend a holiday only 30 minutes from the airport, whether for adults ar families if you are looking for 5 star this is the best. We will return.

Overall, the hotel left a very positive impression. Xanadu Makadi Bay is a quiet, comfortable hotel, perfect for a family vacation. The grounds are well-maintained, and the atmosphere is quiet and relaxing. The food at the hotel is delicious and varied. However, during our stay, there was a large influx of Chinese tourists, which meant that the restaurants often ran out of food very quickly. We also observed several instances of unsanitary conditions, with some guests taking food from shared plates with their hands, and unfortunately, the staff did nothing to address this. We would have liked stricter enforcement in such situations. The weather was a bit cool, but for us this was a plus, as my husband doesn't tolerate extreme heat well. Unfortunately, the adult entertainment seemed weak. The games and activities were rather boring and repetitive, lacking the energy and spark that truly engages guests. The children's entertainment was generally good – most of the girls were polite, friendly, and interacted well with the children. However, there were a few unpleasant moments I'd like to mention. We arrived as a family from Romania, and my husband and I communicate primarily in English. But I can und and speak Russian When we arrived at the mini-club, we were greeted by a very nice girl at the reception, who explained everything in detail and in a friendly manner in English. However, there was another employee nearby in a similar uniform (I think her name was Elvira, but I'm not sure), and it was extremely unpleasant when she began commenting on our family in Russian, thinking I didn't understand her. I also got the impression that this employee's attitude toward foreign guests was negative: she mostly communicated only in Russian, despite the fact that the hotel has a large number of foreigners. This significantly spoiled the overall impression of the kids' club. Furthermore, we observed that she sometimes spoke quite rudely to the children, which is unacceptable for a family hotel of this level. We'd also like to point out that we really enjoyed the mini-disco and evening shows for adults—they were vibrant, engaging, and created a pleasant, relaxing atmosphere. Overall, the hotel is excellent, with great potential, and we hope management will address these issues and improve the quality of service.

This will not sound like an ordinary review.... Although, I hope it will touch your heart. Arabic scented sticks perfume....serene slight waterlike sounds....peaceful atmosphere...joy and friendly...gentle smile... An authentic state of Being.

This was our third stay at this hotel, and we can't wait to go back. We now think of it as our home in the sun. Everything about the Xanadu is excellent, but as other people have said, it is the staff who really make this hotel outstanding. From the minute you arrive, you are made to feel welcome, and nothing is too much trouble. A few members of staff deserve special mention: Sarah who checked us in, Mohamed who kept our room beautifully clean, and surprised us daily with his towel art, Hamdy and Mahmoud in the Otia restaurant, and Youssef at the Lagoon Bar. Good staff respond to your requirements, excellent staff ANTICIPATE your requirements, and that's what the staff at the Xanadu do. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

I stayed here for 8 nights with my family, was a lovely holiday the restaurant, housekeeping and reception staff were amazing couldn't do enough for you, and for this alone i would return the food was so good drinks was good, the grounds and resort was beautiful. however what ruined it for us was the entertainment staff, we felt like we was being a nuisance to them witnessed on a few occasions them pointing and whispering at us although not everyone the kids and animation staff defiantly need some training in how to be open and friendly to all guests, when my daughter went into fancyland she was told Russians only a guest, and the staff member did nothing to try and rectify this, it seems coral travel seem to have the monopoly of this and any other guests seem to just get in the way, although we was really happy with the rest of the holiday for this alone we will be finding another hotel to stay at next time we return to Egypt

3221 - first time to Xanadu Makadi bay and will definitely not be the last. All staff are excellent, friendly and helpful. Our room cleaner was brilliant with a brand new fresh piece of towel art everyday. Hotel was spotless, and even though it is so large, it never felt overly busy with guests. Al a carte restaurants are great and even the buffet restaurant is better than other well known hotel chains we have visited

We stayed 8nts here and can honestly say it was the best hotel we have stayed at in Hurghada! And we have stayed at a lot. Rooms - really comfortable beds, large bathroom. Nice and clean. We stayed in room 1137. Food - So much choice at all meal times. No one can fault the quality or presentation. Pools - Lots of pools to choose from, all of which are a maximum depth of 125cm. No problem getting a sun lounger at any time of day. Beach - Nice sandy beach with plenty of sun beds. Jetty very close for boat trips. Hotel - First impression was "wow!" Large grounds with well kept gardens. Hotel in general very clean and well designed. Special thanks to all the staff for a fantastic service and to Hashim Lotfy(Executive Assistant Manager)for taking time to chat and make me and my husband feel welcome.

great experience, the hotel is a true 5 stars one, with friendly staff and all you need for an all included services. We stayed in the main hotel, the food is very diverse and all kind of. We did not use the A la carte restaurants (no needed). The beach is beautiful. If you don't want to be bothered you have to go to only adults partition, use the Donotdisturb red flag and just enjoy! I recommend the Lounge for alcohol cocktails. The water is fantastic and on the right side you can swim watching the corals and the life under and beautiful fishes.

Great hotel with reasonable prices for all services you get . The main restaurant has a variety of fresh food and drinks; there are all kinds of soft drinks, and there is imported alcohol. The staff is friendly, and the cleanliness is excellent.

This is the place to be when you want a relaxing holiday, where service is extremely high level! The hotel-staff were surprising us positively in all aspects! We had some misfortune visiting the spa-facilities… Luckily for us, the in-hotel clinic is very good. (Clinica Egypt) Doctor Al Malawany and nurse Taha provided us with excellent care and we are very thankful for their efforts to ensure our wellbeing. Thank you!

It’s really hard to thank so many individuals that make your holiday special when you don’t remember all the names, so all we can say is thank you everyone, from the waiting staff, the bar staff, the chefs just everyone we had a fabulous time, it was our first trip to Egypt and won’t be our last, our room 2103 was very very comfortable and in a great quiet location for us and kept spotlessly clean by our housekeeper Ibrahim Saeid and we very much enjoyed his towel creativity, thanks again for everything and all your help Ibrahim you helped to make our holiday. The food and service in the main Otia restaurant was first class, such an amazing amount of choice on offer The Beach restaurant at lunchtime was also amazing, great service and great food from all the staff and thank you Hamza for all your help. There’s just so many people we met and had time to chat with that really did make our trip so special. We very much appreciated the hospitality at Xanadu and look forward to returning here again soon, we will definitely be back

I was in Egypt for the first time in this extraordinary place in every way. The large room with a superb wiew from the balcony, The buildings with their specific architecture enchant you creating a true paradise in the middle of the arid desert. The garden is well kelt and always green. The sea is like emerald and enchant you with the multitude of fish species and colorful corals. The stuff is very friendly and ready to help you. We will definetely come back.

First room we had was terrible right next to children's play park, BaBa Black sheep old McDonald had a farm ,etc, etc continuous 9 hours a day every day water kettles, non stop screaming. We got moved to a quieter area which was much better but the real Gems of this Hotel are the people working there, they are absolutely brilliant, always smiling and so helpful even when presented with ignorant holiday makers who think they are VIPs (which we heard mentioned a few times) Hamdy who works in the restaurant, Bishoy Yanni who seems to be everywhere, are Stars, but the brightest star in this universe is Mr Ali Afifi a true gem and friend (Habibi) also all the staff at the Lagoon Bar. I would go back there in a heart beat! Benjamin.

An amazing hotel! As a birthday surprise, we were upgraded to a Lagoon Swim Up Apartment — a huge suite with direct pool access in a perfect location, close to everything. The staff were exceptionally kind and helpful, and the food was absolutely delicious. We were pleasantly surprised by the level of hygiene and cleanliness — every few days, the sunbed covers were changed, towels smelled fresh, and the pool water quality was regularly checked. Once, when our child dropped food on the floor in the restaurant and tried to pick it up, a staff member kindly explained that they would take care of it — such attention to detail was impressive! Everything in this hotel is maintained at a very high standard, in every area. Highly recommended! 🌴☀️

We recently stayed at the Xanadu Hotel and overall had a fantastic experience! The staff were excellent — friendly, attentive, and always willing to help. From reception to restaurant service, everyone went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. However, one downside was the spa and excursion staff, who were quite pushy and persistent even after we politely declined their offers. It can actually become uncomfortable at times, especially when spa staff start threading part of your face without asking, which then leaves you feeling like you have no choice but to visit the spa to have the rest of your eyebrows fixed! The food was great, with a wide variety and something to suit everyone’s taste. The bar and restaurant waiting staff were excellent — nothing was ever a bother, and they truly enjoy serving you, often saying “you’re on holiday” as they insist on looking after everything for you. The entertainment and activities were also impressive — there’s always something going on! We especially loved the daily WhatsApp updates, which made it super easy to keep track of what was happening around the resort. The hotel itself is fabulous — huge, spotless, and beautifully maintained. There’s plenty of space to relax, and it really has that “wow” factor when you arrive. Despite the pushy sales pitches from certain staff, we genuinely enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

I stayed at Xanadu Makadi Bay expecting a luxury 5-star resort, but it turned out to be one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve ever had. The only positive thing was the beach — everything else fell far below 5-star standards. The hotel is described as newly opened, but the reality is very different. The walls in my room were in bad condition, with cracks and visible damage. The overall property looks worn and poorly maintained. Service quality was extremely poor — most staff seemed indifferent and unconcerned about guests. Cleanliness and attention to detail were lacking everywhere. Even in the restaurant, the food quality was low and some products were mislabeled (for example, what was labeled as “Nutella” was actually a cheap imitation). I contacted the hotel directly with photos, but instead of resolving the issue or offering a fair refund, they only suggested upgrades for a future stay — which makes no sense, as I would never return. This place should not be advertised or priced as a 5-star resort. I strongly advise future travelers to read reviews carefully and choose another hotel if you are looking for real quality and service.

I really liked the hotel, there are a lot of green spaces, swimming pools, and a variety of food. Thank you to the room service staff, there was no sand in the room after cleaning. It was clean and smelled good. We stayed in room 3217

After a dreadful start to the week being given the wrong room our expectations were certainly not high. But the week was about to be made really special by the boys at the Lagoon bar, the service we received by them all week was spectacular, massive shout out to Mina Mamdouh and Romany Samih who were absolutely amazing all week, the boys alone would be enough to make us return and the cocktails they make are phenomenal, they are an absolute credit to the team.

We are currently staying at Xanadu Makadi Bay, and it’s our third day here - everything has been absolutely amazing so far! 🌴 The hotel is beautiful, the sea is crystal clear and warm, the food is delicious, and the territory is always clean and perfectly maintained. The whole team is very friendly, polite, and hardworking - you can really feel that everyone here wants guests to have the best possible experience. We would also like to thank Ahmed, who cleans our room 1157. He does his work very carefully, quickly, and always with a kind smile. Every day our room looks spotless and fresh - he’s very attentive and polite, and truly makes us feel comfortable and well cared for. 🌸 And we would like to give special thanks to Mohamed from the lobby bar (the one in the photo with us 📸). He is truly an outstanding person - very kind, attentive, and always smiling. He makes the most delicious cocktails 🍸 and it’s always such a pleasure to talk with him. What really impressed us is how pleasant, caring, and professional he is. He always supports a friendly conversation, understands guests perfectly, and even speaks and understands some Russian, which made our chats so warm and easy. 💛 He manages to stay attentive to everyone, keep up great service, and never loses his positive energy - he really knows how to make people feel welcome. One evening my husband asked Mohamed to pour several kinds of whiskey to try. The next day, my husband couldn’t remember which one he liked most - and Mohamed patiently spent time with me trying to figure it out until he remembered exactly which one it was! 😄 That small moment showed how observant, patient, and genuinely thoughtful he is toward every guest. We are very grateful for his kindness, professionalism, and big heart. Just came back from amazing holidays in Xanadu Makadi Bay Hotel. It was our second time here. I would like to say just: WOW!!! Have been few times in Mexico, Dominicana, many times in Egypt and Turkiye in really great hotels but Xanadu was just TOP. Start with Guest Relation first- such a BIG THANKS to Miss Mariia Antoniuk for making pure miracles for us to have an amazing time here. We had swim up room with amazing seaview and whole hotel. THANK YOU! A'la carte restaurants serving great food, excellent service and providing unbelievable atmosphere there. A BIG THANK also to Mr Nour and his Team in Oriental Restaurant- you're guys THE BEST. Whole hotel staff with bell team, shuttle drivers, waiters and waitress, lifeguards, receptionists are smiling, supportive and always asking how we are and if everything is ok. Hotel is really high class where everything must be and is perfect. Fantastic coffees and cakes in hotel Pattiserie where you can spend time and relax. Best drinks in Lobby bar with amazing service. This was our third time at Xanadu, this visit was with a group of 16 friends and family to celebrate my 60th Birthday. From check in to leaving all the staff have been amazing. As my previous reviews have stated, the stay was fantastic, it gets better each time we have visited. The hotel is becoming popular now which has created a great atmosphere without feeling overcrowded. We were upgraded to swim up rooms on the sunny side of Block2, our room 2116. Most late afternoons we would all gathered in the swim up pool to chill for the last hour or so of sunlight. Previous reviews have mentioned the very good quality of the food, drinks, beach etc...and most of all the staff, so I wont be doing a long review. I would like to thank the staff, Metwally, Shady, Karina (Guest relations) Yousef Ragab, the larger than life Moody, plus all the background staff that we do not meet who make this hotel so special. We were in a beautiful room 3125 with a view of the entire Makadi Bay, a step away from our own pool. The cleanliness was impeccable. The atmosphere was more than pleasant, everyone was always kind and smiling, ready to fulfill any additional wish. The service is completely excellent, in seven additional restaurants we enjoyed the tastes of wonderful dishes: French, Italian, Egyptian, Turkish, Indian, Chinese, Fish...with pleasure.

We had an unforgettable time at this wonderful hotel. The property is beautiful, perfectly maintained, and the atmosphere is wonderfully relaxing. The food was excellent, especially the à la carte dinners, which were truly outstanding. The entertainment and animation program added plenty of fun and energy to our days. Special thanks to Mr. Ibrahim from the snack bar for his kindness and amazing service, to the Lagoon Lounge bar Team for their professionalism and great cocktails, and to the housekeeping Team for spotless rooms and creative towel art. We truly felt cared for throughout our stay — and we can’t wait to come back!

The hotel rooms are nice, but if you get one with a garden view on the northern side, you won’t be able to sleep at night because of the loud noise coming from a nearby building I suspect it’s from water pumps. I asked to have my room changed. The food is excellent and plentiful. The spa, however, is terrible! Avoid the manicure and pedicure services they’re really bad. They didn’t even bother to remove the leftover nail polish I already had on my hands and feet.

The place is really beautiful! The staff is nice and talkative. The rooms are always clear! We lived in the room 5401, the cleaner name was Ahmed Taha. His work was always the best of the bests. Thank you, we'll definitely be back again.

We stayed at Xanadu Makadi Bay from the 2nd to the 9th of October 2025. Arrival and check in was a breeze. We had a booking issue which was dealt with by Nesma at guest services. She really went out of her way to make our stay extra special and I commend her attitude towards guests. Further to this my dad who accompanied us had some health issues which were dealt with at the onsite clinic. I would highly this hotel to families as the facilities are vast.

His care for his patients, thoughtful attitude, warm smile, and the confidence he inspires are truly admirable. It was our first time in Egypt and didn’t really know what to expect but the whole experience was beyond expectations. The room was always cleaned and fresh (thanks to Fawez who did an awesome job every time, so friendly and kind; also taught us a few words). Food was delicious, we really enjoyed Otia and the a la carte restaurants, especially Turquaz (best experience ever, it was so good). The resort is enormous since there is the main building with adjacent pools and then small villas with their private pools until you finally reach the beach, but there are shuttle buses that take you to the beach/aqua park. Personally, I didn’t mind walking, the resort is just too beautiful and pretty well maintained. The staff is kind and cheerful, always smiling at you. For us, it was a really relaxing vacation. Definitely recommed it!

It was a very nice staying, a pleasure to stay at this resort. The staff was very very friendly, we had an amazing waiter called Rafik Hamdy who helped us a lot and made our breakfast and dinner experience much better. I reccomand this resort with all my heart! Thanks!

On the whole the resort was wonderful, staff all amazing food appeared good (not keen on the French) but amazing in the 🇮🇹 and Far East. BUT………… The other guests were mostly Local or Russian and on the whole were a joy to be with apart from their kids running around the main restaurant sticking their dirty fingers in the food. Not only a food contamination issue but a trip hazard to other guests and the risk of the staff pouring hot food on their little heads causing serious burns. I approached the manager on this who said next week most kids have gone back to school so only a couple of hundred will be on site. Not a good reply IMO. Also, the sound levels/acoustics in the main restaurant were almost unbearable at busy time. The Dune swim up room was a delight but ours was close to the next hotel which was being renovated, so the noise and being over looked by contractors was an issue. The beach was very good, always loungers to find and the service was a plenty. The last full day a Tiger Shark was spotted in the bay, access to water was promptly and professionally restricted unlike the hotel next to Xanadu. This is documented with pics on a Xanadu fb site if the hotel questions this. Heard lots of times, “Never been any Sharks in Makadi Bay”. All the pools were brilliant, empty loungers everywhere even though the hotel was near capacity and again the service was spot on. Tipping was welcomed but it never seemed a requirement. Had mild diarrhoea during the stay, (did not eat anywhere else apart from Xanadu) which was kept at bay with Imodium, but a couple of days after returning home the “Pharaohs Revenge’ hit home big time. So not happy as I had to have unnecessary time off work!! Top Tips: Get a private transfer to and from the airport it’s only around £22pp for a 40min drive, bargain. Our first night was in a swim up room in the main building, be careful which side your allocated as the sun will not be on the pool after lunchtime. Avoid the ones that face North. Hotel Ideas: The shuttle runs frequently to the beach and aqua park. Would be useful if it also went to and from the main lobby. Lagoon pool and Lounge bar were excellent. Would be even better if it was child free as there are plenty of other places for children to be. This would add a bit of privacy and sophistication to couples wanting to spend quiet time together. Can only give 3 Stars due to being ill and unruly kids being allowed to run amok where food is concerned. Also could make parts of the resort a bit more adults only oriented.

We stayed at this hotel with my wife for the second time. We paid €3,400 for 14 nights. To skip ahead: once again, the vacation exceeded our expectations — the hotel maintains a high standard. Now for the details. Territory The hotel has a huge, well-kept territory. You can also stroll along the promenade and see the beaches of neighboring hotels. Security guards are stationed at the borders, but they are always friendly and never interfere with walks. Housekeeping Rating — 4 out of 5. Not perfect, but generally good enough. Food & Drinks The main change compared to last year: imported alcohol is now available only in two bars — the Lobby and the Lagoon. This, of course, affected the taste of cocktails. However, thanks to the skill of the bartender at the adults-only beach bar (I’ll tell you more about it later), the drinks were excellent, and the difference between local and imported alcohol was barely noticeable. If you love beer as much as I do, make sure to try the draft Heineken — probably the best “hotel” beer I’ve ever had. The food is fantastic! At peak dinner hours it can be hard to find a free table, but the staff is always ready to help. We visited all the à la carte restaurants, and each was interesting in its own way, but the absolute winner for us was the Turkish restaurant Turkuaz. I still don’t understand how they managed to cook such an amazing beef kebab. Sea & Beach For us, this is the main criterion when choosing a hotel. The beach is wonderful: soft sand, convenient entrance into the sea. The depth varies in different areas — in some places just a few steps are enough, in others you need to walk a bit further. And most importantly, the hotel has its own coral reef, which is a great rarity for Hurghada. Having compared the neighboring hotels’ beaches, I can confidently say — Xanadu has the best one. Staff Special thanks to those who made our stay unforgettable: Ahmed Mahmud — bartender at the adults-only beach. Makes the best gin & tonic in the hotel, keeps cocktail proportions perfectly, always friendly and welcoming. He’s even ready to prepare a drink off the menu: “The menu is in my head,” as he says. Allam Safwat — beach staff. Sociable, friendly, always helped carry towels, and even taught me a few Arabic words. Luka — animator with the most stylish haircut and endless positivity. My regular opponent in beach bocce. If you enjoy the game, definitely play with him. Ali Salama — reception staff. Always willing to help, polite, with a great sense of humor. I saw him handle even the most difficult guests with ease. Conclusion I can confidently say: Xanadu remains our top choice in Hurghada. The beautiful grounds, delicious food, wonderful beach, and outstanding staff make the vacation truly unforgettable. We will definitely come back again!

Our experience at Xanadu was amazing Check in wasn’t the best experience because we arrived 9:30 but we got the key 2:15 I am sure some people check in early for their flights. Anyway this will not affect my 5 stars rating. The welcome drinks were amazing. The food was amazing all 3meals and snacks . The rooms are super clean. Beds are small to fit 2 people. We were a family of 3 and my daughter slept on the couch because how narrow are the beds. If you have trouble with walking, this hotel is not for you. There are shuttles and they come often but they drop off and pick up very far from the rooms. Especially in the summer and it’s 🥵. The aqua park is amazing. The main pool was so much fun. The animation was okay and the DJ is so rude. We asked him so many times at the end of the night when almost everyone is egyptian to turn on some Arabic songs and he ignored all of us. I can’t really understand why . That was on Sunday 21/8 . He kept saying tomorrow is the Egyptian night but it was actually our last night. I honestly can’t find a reason for him being that stubborn.

The stay was very wonderful and the food was excellent, except for the beach bar staff who were not interested in dealing with the guests.

Xanadu Makadi Bay has the worst management I have ever experienced. After a 15-hour flight with two children, the reception and manager were completely disrespectful and unprofessional. They demanded an extra $450 even though my reservation was correct and my children’s ages were entered properly. When I asked for help contacting Expedia to confirm the booking, they refused and left me to handle everything on my own. Instead of showing hospitality, they caused stress and humiliation at the very start of our vacation. This hotel’s management clearly does not care about guests, fairness, or basic respect. I would never return and strongly advise others to avoid this property

I stayed at Xanadu Hotel Makadi Bay for 5 nights, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing holiday. 1- Main Restaurant: Overcrowded every day, extremely difficult to find a table, and the food was poor. At one point, I even found a hair in the meat sauce, which was disgusting and unacceptable. 2- A la Carte Restaurants: After the incident in the buffet, I chose not to complain loudly and instead tried to book the a la carte restaurants. Shockingly, they were all “fully booked” for the entire stay. Guest relations eventually managed to put us on a waiting list and secured 3 reservations by checking daily if a spot opened up. While I appreciated their effort, this system was stressful and inconvenient, and far from what should be expected at a 5-star resort. 3- Room Service: I requested an iron since mine was broken. Despite calling four times and waiting for more than an hour, nobody ever came. This caused us to miss our dinner reservation and the evening show, and I had to attend dinner in unironed clothes. 4- Cleanliness & Safety: The worst part was finding a lizard in our room, which terrified my children. 5- Poor Maintenance: Even basic equipment was not safe. The water boiler in the room was full of rust, making it impossible to use. 6- Guest Relations Behavior: When I reported issues, instead of receiving an apology, I was told: “If you don’t like our hotel, you can leave.” That level of arrogance and rudeness is unacceptable in hospitality. To make things worse, after I complained, the hotel stopped sending me the daily program schedule on WhatsApp, which felt like retaliation. Overall, this hotel completely failed to deliver the quality and service expected from a 5-star resort. Poor food hygiene, overcrowding, broken facilities, unsafe rooms, and unprofessional staff ruined our holiday. I would not recommend this hotel — there are much better resorts in Makadi Bay where guests are treated with respect.

We stayed as a family from 21 to 26 August, booking two rooms in Building 3 (rooms 3337 and 3339). Our experience was truly memorable. We arrived at 11:00 am and the check-in was very smooth, completed by 11:30. Special thanks to Mr. Yousef from the front office,he is very cooperative and truly a gentleman. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and offer fantastic views of both the pool and the sea. A special thanks to Mr. Mostafa from housekeeping for his extra effort in keeping everything perfect. Breakfast was amazing, with a wide variety of food suitable for everyone. The à la carte restaurants were fantastic, especially Agora and the Italian restaurant. However, I didn’t enjoy the Indian restaurant (Taj Mahal) as much. All the bars, whether in the lobby or on the beach, were excellent, you can always find whatever you like. The pastries bar in the lobby is also a must try. The beach is very clean, and there are always sunbeds available at any time of the day. The animation team is very nice, engaging, and adds to the fun atmosphere. In addition a great highlight is the 24 hour shuttle bus service, it’s amazing and very efficient, with almost no waiting time. All staff members are polite, cooperative, and always smiling, which makes the stay even more comfortable Disadvantage: The only area that needs improvement is the Wi-Fi service on the beach, which could be better Overall, it was a fantastic family experience. Many thanks to all the staff for their great efforts, and also to the management behind them for leading such a nice team. We truly felt welcomed and would highly recommend this hotel for anyone.

My family and I stayed at this hotel for a week and it was one of our best holiday. The food is excellent, the beach is very clean with bars restaurants and entertainment. We surely will come back.

We had an exceptional employee at this hotel, who delighted us with something every day. His name is Fawaz and he made our stay much more pleasant. Every day he arranged a towel animal for our child.

This was our third trip to Egypt but first stay at Xanadu Makadi Bay hotel and wow we loved it! Staff - So very welcoming, patient and knowledgeable when we arrived. Would not let us carry a bag and assured we’d find them in our room, bags made it there before we did! Relations team were very knowledgeable and helpful with any questions we had. Maintenance teams very friendly and accommodating. Entertainment team - Make an effort to get to know you and find out what you and your family enjoy, in particular Paulo and Tarzan, great guys and really work to include the kids if they want to join in anything. Waiting staff - Absolutely fantastic, if you find yourself down at the pool during the day or sky bar at night Karim Mohammed is your guy! This man made us so welcome and treat us like royalty, he was not too much, he made sure our family had everything we needed at all times, thank you Karim! Rooms - We had an adjoining family room which was perfect for our two teen boys and us, nearby but privacy. We had a 2nd floor room that looked out over the gardens and the beach. It was super clean and well looked after by the staff if we used the call button for it to be turned down each day. Buttons include “please clean”, “don’t clean” & “do not disturb”. Bed was kind of hard for me but husband and kids said it was super comfy, extra pillows too if you need. Aircon which was absolutely needed for the first few days was bliss until we got a bit used to the heat. Bathroom great size, very clean and lovely waterfall shower, shampoo, soap, conditioner (great to soften your hair after the beach or pool!), manicure set and nice big towels. I’ve seen some people mention the TVs aren’t great, but we don’t go on holiday to watch tv so not a biggy for us. You can change language to English in settings if you need, not smart TVs if that’s important to you. Food - Important part 😂 was delicious!! When you normally go all inclusive it can get a bit samey, not at Xanadu! The selection for breakfast, lunch and dinner is fantastic! So much choice you’ll never get bored. Fresh cheeses, meats, bread (bread is delicious), eggs every kind of way you want, a selection of hot sides that changes each day though some thankfully remain the same as they’re so good you want round 2. Fresh honey lots of different kinds, yogurts, fruits and vegetables that’s just for breakfast! We found we were too full for 3 full meals a day so would get breakfast then get a snack from the beach bar at lunch, the pizzas, burgers and shawarma were delicious. Dinner, I’m missing it already! They rotate all of the foods so you’re not eating the same thing on any day, always something different. Everything they make is just so tasty and I’d say more healthy choice than unhealthy, though you can whack a load of chips on your plate if you like! However they cook beef, if only restaurants here could cook it like they do at Xanadu, they have what I think is brisket, melts in your mouth! Lots of chicken and fish dishes available too aswell as a whole sushi bar. If you’re vegetarian the selection of hot and cold veg dishes are lovely! I found I could eat super healthy but really enjoy it (didn’t feel like I was living and breathing salad). The desserts wow! They are so creative with the desserts they make and so many, my fave though had to be the two stands of baklava, amazing. For kids a huge selection of sweet treats fresh donuts and waffles with all the trimmings. We can’t say enough about how good the food is at Xanadu and how excellent the chefs and waiting staff are, if you can’t find a table they won’t leave you waiting they’ll whip you one up fast as you like and make sure you’re sorted for drinks etc. Pool & Beach - Lots of pools to choose from, deepest is 2.5 metres and shallower ones for smaller kids. Very clean and plenty of space to enjoy, the pool bar has great food and pumps out drinks all day! Music played throughout the day with the entertainment crew providing activities such as water polo and water aerobics. The beach, if you normally find yourself by the pool I highly recommend you spend a day at the beach, it’ll change your mind, so clean and beautiful. Again you’ll have waiting staff on hand if you need drinks, also a camel being led around by a great guy. The amazing bit is the snorkelling, as Makadi bay has its own reef you can snorkel and see so many different types of marine life it’s beautiful, we were lucky enough to see a sea turtle! Entertainment - This can be a quiet relaxing holiday or packed full of activities if you like, there is a full program in the hotels lobby also on notice boards around the hotel, entertainment staff are great so worth checking out. There is a show in the outdoor forum each night, usually for about 30-45 mins and always good to go to after your evening meal. Facilities - There is a great full air conditioned gym, two boys went daily and loved it. The hotel also has a spa, we went for full body massage, facials and husband and boys went for hair and beards sorting (great haircut) and massage was devine! One thing to be very clear about is get a price written down on a receipt before you pay! They change prices, give you deals, but if it’s not written down you’ll pay full price. There are a few shops in the hotel lobby and more down by the beach, have everything you need from personal care to snorkelling gear. As it’s not a true review without some sort of feedback, the only thing I did not like at Xanadu was when you get sat down by the pool, lay back close your eyes next minute you’ll have Staff from the spa and the excursion team coming round asking if you want a treatment or go swimming with dolphins etc. I thought this would go away after day 1 but it didn’t even with quite persistent “no thank yous” was quite annoying. However not until our last day did I see that you could get a Do not disturb sign from the towel kiosk, if you put that up on your poolside umbrella they shouldn’t bother you. I appreciate they’re there to sell what they have to offer but no should be enough. We’ve arrived home and will be booking again for next year, we will be looking at September or October this time, simply due to the blazing heat. You get used to it of course but wow it’s hot! We chose Xanadu Hotel for the first time, and overall, the experience was very pleasant. Upon arrival, the reception staff was extremely friendly and patient, kindly answering all our questions, especially since it was our first stay here. We were pleasantly surprised with our room: a lovely ground-floor unit with direct access to the pool. It was a unique experience that we had never had before. Special thanks go to Mohamed (Salem), who arranged this room for us and to whom we are very grateful for his attention and kindness.Feel free to talk to him if you have any issues with your room – he’ll always find a way to sort it out. He’s really resourceful, polite, and smart. I added his family name in brackets because there are so many with the first name Mohamed – I think it’s the most common name there: at the reception, at cleaning, on the beach, at the pool – most of them were called Mohamed 🔹 What we liked: Cleanliness and the consistently friendly, helpful staff across reception, housekeeping, entertainment, and restaurants. The breakfast buffet was very diverse, offering everything from made-to-order omelets (with ingredients of your choice) to hot dishes, cheeses, soups, desserts, and truly delicious fresh juices – the mango and strawberry juices were outstanding! A great variety of desserts, with a dedicated baklava stand, many cakes, and a wide selection of fruits (mango was definitely our favorite!). The snack bar by the main pool served tasty hamburgers, wraps, and pizza, with fast and attentive service. The entertainment team was active, friendly, and always present at the pools and the beach. The resort itself is very large and well-organized, with main buildings, villas with shared pools, and even private pool villas (depending on the room type chosen). The beach was very clean and well-maintained, with daily activities. Every evening there were shows at the open-air theater near the beach, easily accessible by electric carts that arrived every few minutes. 🔻 What could be improved: The TV in the room was outdated and didn’t allow us to connect our phones. Also, most of the channels were Egyptian, so it wasn’t really useful. Lunch and dinner, while varied, became repetitive after a few days. Side dishes were almost always the same (French fries and rice), salads couldn’t be customized, and the cooked dishes rotated every one or two days. Sushi and seafood (such as mussels and fried calamari) were available daily, but the overall menu could definitely be more diversified. All in all, we had a relaxing and enjoyable holiday, with good-quality services and a welcoming atmosphere. Xanadu Hotel is a resort we gladly recommend, with just a few areas for improvement regarding the main meals and in-room amenities. We would be happy to return

This resort has no terms of comparison. It’s the most impressive resort I have ever been to, it beats Desert Rose from Hurghada which I’ve also been to. However, the cherry on the cake for us was Lagoon Lounge. It’s the perfect spot to stay in after a long day of sunbathing, playing in the pool, aquapark and also it’s close to the beach. It’s such a cozy atmosphere, the music is really nice and very well selected. We went to all the bars in the resort, but the cocktails anywhere else were meh, the service wasn’t particularly good and the friendliness of the servers were based on the tip you give them. However, our server, Yusif, was absolutetly amazing, always smiling, always asking us if we feel good or if we need anything else and truly deserves all the tips and smiles. The bartender, Mohamed, is simply too skilled in comparison to all the other bartenders from the resort. He makes everything with such care, dedication and always made sure the drinks taste good by asking us and everyone else. I never write reviews on the internet, but these two guys really touched our hearts and we are grateful to have met them in our little vacation 😇❤️. If Xanadu management reads this, we would ask you and firmly recommend you to either raise their salary or at least get the other bartenders and servers in the resort to raise their standards and be at their level. They are very nice, hard-working people and create a wonderful image of Xanadu Makadi Bay for the tourists that come here. Thank you for all the nights, laughs, stories and special cocktails, guys! Keep making people smile:)

It was a magnificent journey for me for the 2nd time…i was in 2024…..and again back in 2025… Reception was very wonderful but not all guys give you the same help…..bars are 10/10…….barman 10/10……breakfast 100/10!!! Most excellent one…. The lunch 7/10…….the dinner is 8/10…… Food quality are very good but for days we cant see much variety……where shrimps?? Where is grilled meat??? Where is grilled kabab??? Where is grilled chicken or shis tawook?? Where is grilled or fried salmon fish??? About rooms ….for more than two person it is too narrow….triple rooms or double with children is too narrow space……they should upgrade… Aqua park is amazing place……sea is magnificent…sea workers are very helper…..golf cars are available…..but in crowded times hotel need to push more cars….. Snack food bar….is so magnificent… There is fresh orange strawberry and guava….juice all time…. Very great hotel……. Very great accommodation…. But better to upgrade negatives to be the beat place all over egypt

We had an excellent stay at this hotel and everything exceeded our expectations. The service quality was outstanding, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the overall atmosphere was very welcoming. I would like to give special recognition to the receptionist, Mohamed Salem, who truly made our stay memorable. He was highly professional, polite, and attentive at all times. He greeted us warmly, provided clear and helpful information, and always handled our requests with efficiency and care. His positive attitude, patience, and excellent communication skills created a wonderful first impression and made us feel genuinely valued as guests. This was our second visit to Xanadu Makadi Bay after a wonderful first stay, and it still stands out as one of the best resorts in Egypt. The biggest highlight is the food and drinks, which are on another level compared to many other resorts. From the stunning patisserie desserts to the wide choice of all-inclusive premium drinks, the culinary experience is first class. Entertainment and sports facilities are also excellent, with good shows, plenty of activities, and beautifully kept grounds that give the whole place a lively atmosphere. We stayed in two different rooms during our visit, both charming. The second was a complimentary upgrade after a brief power outage, which was a kind gesture. It’s worth noting that only the main building has a generator, not the dunes. Wi-Fi is more reliable than before, though the login system could be made easier. Service was generally warm, but compared to our last visit we noticed fewer personal touches. Last time we received small souvenirs, a personalised WhatsApp farewell, and very quick responses to questions. With the resort busier now, the team seemed more stretched, which may explain the difference. The à la carte restaurants were good, though we missed some dishes from the Egyptian/Middle Eastern menu, which has changed. The buffet is excellent, although the selection is clearly more generous on arrival days than on regular days. A special thanks to the buggy drivers, who were outstanding when I lost my phone during the blackout. They went above and beyond until I got reunited with my phone. Our pool, with its fantastic views, was another highlight, though the bubble system and night lighting could use an upgrade. This brilliant resort continues to offer very high standards with some of the best food and entertainment you’ll find in Egyptian resorts. A few timely updates—such as replacing sliding door locks for safety, adding quieter AC units, and refreshing certain fixtures—would make it even better. Bringing back the extra personal touches would also help keep it at the top of its game. Even so, it’s still a resort we’re happy to recommend and would gladly return to.
