The facilities were old and dilapidated. Water damage left all the cupboards swollen. Plug points were falling off the wall. The kid's room was a health hazard-. It had a consistent odour of bird droppings due to a window that was encrusted in the bathroom. It also meant that the window could not be opened. I was worried about their health. We left early and was assured we would get a portion of our money back but have not been provided a refund.

The rooms are tiny. I did ask if they had a bigger room available and was moved to a bigger room when one was available (thank you for that), but the initial room was really unlivable. It was too small to even change your mind in. I didn't realise that I had a touch of claustrophobia until I stayed here. I don't think this is a boutique hotel; it's more of a house that's been turned into a motel. I largely blame myself for not taking a closer look, and if I were someone literally just looking for a place to sleep for one night, it wouldn't be too bad.

The Tv was broken couldn’t see the On button. But they said they gonna fix it. Its a good place but way too pricey. The room was also very small.

Room size was too small. The lack of cleanliness shows neglect. The door gap at the bottom is big and could easily be fixed. The bathroom door handle is poorly fitted that it could hurt your finger. Towels need to be thrown away for new ones. This is a pattern at Lux

The hotel is beautifully decorated, clean, peaceful, and has a luxurious atmosphere that makes it easy to relax. Our room was spotless, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a memorable stay. Every detail showed the care and pride the team puts into making guests feel at home. The location is also excellent, making it easy to explore Durban while still enjoying a quiet and relaxing environment. The hospitality we received was exceptional, and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Thank you to everyone at Luxe on Ridge Boutique Hotel for making our visit so special. We truly enjoyed every moment and will definitely be back. We highly recommend this beautiful boutique hotel to anyone looking for comfort, excellent service, and a memorable stay in Durban.

Not having microwave from the rooms , we had to go all the way to the reception to warm up our food. But other than that i wouldn't mind coming back

Reviewed Jun 29, 2026I love this hotel, I’ve stayed here 4 times and always stay here when I’m in Durban. I find that no matter where I’m going in Durban it’s close to everywhere great location and friendly staff that let me check in early.
At night it sometimes takes the security guard time to open the gate which isn’t safe if I’m being dropped off by an uber.

Staff were welcoming and were quick to follow up with a personal matter i had experienced which I really appreciated. Facilities are well maintained and rooms are perfect for a short stay. (If you plan to Uber within durbsn this us a great location to stay)
Parking lot is a tad tight, but nothing serious.

The cupboards don't have shelves. The shower doesn't have soap holders or rack to put my own stuff on. The pool is only for females. Gym is only for females. So my husband couldn't use the facilities. Not all the bedside lamps worked.

Maintenance of the property and facilities is very poor. The aircon dripped water on the room floor right near the wall plug which was also loose (major fire hazard). The TV decoder is outdated and did not work well - initially no picture which was then adjusted by staff member however after that sound was on and off. The actual property is run down and upkept and as a result does not appear at all inviting and makes one rather uncomfortable. Would not recommend to others.
