Reviewed Sep 8, 2026We were staying for one night as part of our road trip. The hotel is in a great location for the fantastic Swiss passes. Easy to find with plenty of parking options. We made some late requests on the way all of which were accommodated. The hotel had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Visitors should be warned that drinkers and smokers are just outside reception which is noisy and smelly in the rooms that side. Also for food allergies, the restaurant, which is excellent, doesn’t fully describe the ingredients of all dishes
Subsequent to checkout, I was advised via booking that I should have paid prior to departure. This was not communicated when I checked out. I immediately called and paid by credit card but unfortunately still haven’t received the email confirmation of payment. The menu doesn’t give full details of the ingredients of the dishes. My issue was that pesto with pine nuts wasn’t mentioned. The restaurant staff handled this well and replaced the dish. However, the reception person seemed to be telling me I was mistaken about my allergy!

Reviewed Aug 19, 2026The family suite was beautiful, spacious and comfortable, with a wonderful view overlooking the town square. The property is in an excellent location, and the breakfast was good. Overall, the hotel itself was very pleasant.
Our check-in experience was extremely disappointing. The receptionist was rude, dismissive and disrespectful. Although it was pouring outside, she initially refused to let us wait in the seating area and abruptly told us the restaurant was full. However, when I approached the restaurant staff myself, a table became available within five minutes. Her behaviour upset our children so much that they refused to eat there, forcing us to walk through the rain to another restaurant. This was an unacceptable welcome and a poor reflection of Swiss hospitality. We strongly urge the hotel management to investigate this incident and take appropriate action.

Accueil déplaisant et hautain Pour 160 CHF, étant seul, je me réjouissais de dormir dans une chambre simple de cet hôtel mais en fait j'ai atterri dans une annexe moderne et sans intérêt. La chambre était neuve mais très étroite, type cellule Petit déjeuner plus que moyen, uniquement des produits industriels et du pain et viennoiseries sèches Bof bof, très décevant

J'ai été très surpris et déçu de constater que ma chambre n'était pas dans l'hôtel historique mais dans un immeuble neuf genre auberge de jeunesse situé à plus de 100 mètres. La petite chambre y était très fonctionnelle et propre mais il faudrait être plus clair dans la description et indiquer que le logement n'a rien à voir avec l'hôtel de charme "Zur Sonne" !

Room layout was below expectations. Would have preferred one bathroom instead of the split up with a washbasin in the bedroom as well. Limited space for luggage. It was not that easy to get a table for dinner. Other hotels normally contact you and ask early if you need a table for dinner if table availability is an issue.

Das Bett hat leider keine Kopfstütze zum hochstellen Die Spieskarte ist eher sehr schmal gehalten und da die Übernachtungspreise relatief hoch sind auch noch das Essen zu teuer für Hotelgäste müsste es biliger angeboten werden Externe Gäste teurer angeboten dürfte.

Reviewed Jul 23, 2026Great location. Hotelbuilding was authentic Swiss style. Hotelroom and bathroom very recently renovated with good taste. We got rooms with private balcony, it was a very pleasant surprise. Parking was easy; hotels own, free parking place. Elevator to the upper floors.
Airconditioning might be needed on summertime. During our stay weather was ok even without it.

Reviewed Jul 20, 2026Sehr reichhaltiges, gutes Frühstück.. Zentrale Lage im Ort, trotzdem sehr ruhig. Sehr schönes Gebäude im traditionellen Stil, aber gepflegte Innenausstattung der Zimmer. Ich hatte nur ein Einzelzimmer im Nebengebäude, welches auch sehr sauber und prima ausgestattet war. Mit der Gästekarte konnte man alle Seil- und Bergbahnen 1 Woche lang für 20 SFr nutzen.

The staff were friendly and welcoming and dinner at the restaurant was great. Parking was easy even for our large van in the lot that is just a 2 min walk to the hotel.
