The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. When I broke a rib on day two they were very sympathetic and happy to provide us four extra pillows so I could sleep and the included breakfast was fine.

The shared bathroom was a minor concern but we knew that was the deal so no complaints.

Very nice staff. Ended up going to the bar in the evening and having a drink with them and some locals. Friendly people. Nice room, bit small but that was all fine as we wanted a cheap stay. Breakfast was good as well.

The hotel is in need of some modernisation. The shower tap completely came off, there was no hot water and the hotel clearly has seen some better days.

Das Frühstück ist sehr minimalistisch. Gegen Aufpreis von 4 Pfund bekommt man aber mehr. Das wird bei der Beschreibung bei Booking nicht erwähnt. Es gibt keine Parkplätze die zum Hotel gehören. Man kann auf der Straße parken. Man findet immer Platz aber nicht immer in der Nähe vom Hotel. Auf Booking entsteht der Eindruck, dass es eigene Parkplätze gäbe. Das stimmt definitiv nicht.

The staff were tremendous, welcoming and helpful. A nice touch was the welcoming bage of sweets and a voucher for a free drink. The location couldn't be better, slap bang in the centre of Forres. The hotel was obviously a market leader once upon a time. The entrance hallway and grand staircase point to days of past grandeur.

Ubfortunately the hotel is past its best. It is in need of a complete refurbishment. There are too few en-suite rooms for this day and age. If you want a meal you have to go elsewhere as only a limited range of bar snacks are available. On the Friday evening, whilst having a quiet drink in the bar, the volume of the "background" music was suddenly turned up to such a level that, after a few minutes, I had to go back to my room to get away from the din. I then discovered that the stairs from the 1st to the 2nd floor were very poorly lit, to the extent that it was dangerous in that I had difficulkty negotiating the steps. Anyone with poor eyesight would certainly be in danger of falling. TV reception in my room (No. 5) was hopeless The signal kept breaking up and I eventually had to watch TV via my laptop, using a HDMI cable, that I fortunately had with me, between the laptop and the TV. I was also disappointed to learn that I could have booked the same room direct with the hotel for £45 per night, as opposed to the £72 charged by Booking.com.

While this pub is older that's what we liked about it. It's charm, we don't get this in Australia. The location is stunning! Forres is a beautiful town and close to other locations via cars such as Cullen and Findhorn. The room was spacious with a huge TV and wash basin. The shared bathroom was no issue as only a few rooms are attached so it was always available when needed. The staff were amazing! Sophie and her team are super friendly with great tips for the area. Breakfast included was wonderful and for an extra £4 there's a cooked menu. Such value for money! The locals are also some of the most friendly and welcoming people we've met and are keen to share their knowledge of the area. We honestly felt so welcome here and when in Scotland will come back not only to explore more of the area but to say hi to the new friends we made. If you're interested in a proper local experience this is the place to find it.

Too close to a busy road and it had single glazing. Breakfast was at the earliest 8 am but I requested earlier so had to compromise by giving my order the day before. Breakfast was not ready but it was cooked speedily. The room kettle had to be disconnected from the plug to poor into a mug-come on this issue needs to be sorted. The fire alarm was activated early morning at about 6:45 am was it the shower from some guests room; he thought it was. I could hear somebody with a weak bladder ,walking to the toilet in the adjoining room throughout the night.

There is a beautiful park down the road and plenty of food places to grab something for the evening. We had breakfast included and it was delicious and freshly made for us, would definitely do it again!

Was a tad worried about leaving my car in a random car park behind a coop. We had a camping trip coming up so car was full and the area wasnt the most "safe" feeling. Aside from that though we had a fabulous stay.

Das incl. Frühstück war einfach aber brauchbar. Gegen Einwurf kleiner Münzen (4 Pfund) konnte man ein full english brackfast bekommen. Lage Mitten in der Stadt. 11 min bis zum schönen Stand in Findhorn.

Endgegen der Beschreibung musste das Auto auf der Straße parken. das Treppenhaus und die Zimmer könnten eine Renovierung vertragen.

Room very poor state of repair. Window cracked, sweet wrappers down side of bed and dirty. Wallpaper peeling, door had tape on it to stop it closing. Noise from bar and street below, certainly not suitable for children to hear! But they did provide earplugs! We paid for the cooked breakfast, was informed on ordering by a young very polite man that there was no bacon or mushrooms, we accepted that, he then came back very nervous to say no beans either. Breakfast was beyond poor, although at least our bread wasnt mouldy like the couple next to us. No ' continental ' breakfast as the alternative . It officially wins our worst hotel stay.

Was very noisy in the room. Not sure if there are pigeons on the roof but that and being close to bars wasn’t ideal as woken up from the noise of people on the street. A lot of stairs to climb with heavy luggage. Not sure if I just missed it on the listing but would be good to know. There was no option for a continental breakfast for people leaving early. A lot of people are in Forres for hikes and events so would be a nice option. On checking in was told the shower didn’t work. I had already paid a family room rate for a single person which included an en-suite but had a shared bathroom. That as well as no breakfast as I left too early I feel I should have been charged a lot lower. Was offered a drink voucher but didn’t really make the inconvenience better. Would be nicer to have been pre warned so I could pack accordingly eg shoes/clothes to be walking around the corridors

Das Hotel scheint gerade im Prozess der Renovierung zu stecken. Teilweise recht modern und leicht gehoben eingerichtet, doch die Struktur darunter ist etwas marode. Das Personal war sehr freundlich.

Nicht online sind die Zimmer deutlich günstiger. Das Standart Frühstück ist sehr, sehr basic.

For a person with mobility issues six flights of stairs was not easy. Shower was not good at all, no water pressure.

Hotel on the main street of the town and there is public free parking just across the road. Staff were very nice and it was lovely to receive a free drink from the bar and welcome bag of sweets. :) Room was spacious. Breakfast continental and there was a £4 supplement to upgrade to a cooked option.

Double bed was tiny. Our room's allocated shared bathroom had no working shower and we had to go to a different floor to use a shower. The room and other areas in the hotel needs a better cleaning.

My room was comfortable with excellent TV set up..Netflix etc..the offer of a complimentary drink took my to the bar area where it was great to meet locals as well as holidaymakers. There was also a Jukebox!

Unter großes Zimmer lag im 3ten Stock und wir mussten dort mit 3 Koffern hoch. Das Hotel hatte eine Zentrale lage und Parkplätze gab es unweit auch in ausreichenden Mass kostenlos verfügbar. Das Hotel selber hatte einen sehr sehr alten flair, was wir auch schön fanden. Das PUB im Haus war auch recht ansprechend.

Leider war alles im allem das Hotel mit einen sehr großen Renovierungs Rückstau behaftet. Was natürlich auch wegen des alters cht sehr kostengünstig ist. Unter Zimmer verfügte über in sehr kleines Bad. Die Zimmer waren recht groß, nur leider waren im Obersten Stock wohl eine Taube im geäüer welche brütete und daneben auf dem Dach 15 Lachmöven. Sprich lärmbelaästigu.ng

La struttura è molto particolare essendo un palazzo storico di epoca vittoriana, scricchiolante ma è il suo fascino. Il bagno era pulito e moderno. Ho dormito bene. Comodo avere il pub a piano terra per rifocillarsi se si è stanchi per uscire. Per il prezzo che ha ne vale assolutamente la pena, lo consiglio!

A me è piaciuto tutto, è una struttura particolare, devi essere consapevole di essere in un palazzo storico e non in un hotel nuovo moderno.

Votre plateforme de réservation devrait préciser les restrictions d'accès propres à certains espaces, comme l'interdiction des mineurs dans un bar servant de zone de restauration.

Huoneen äänieristys on todella huono ja lokit kirkuivat yöllä. Pöydällä oli kertakäyttö korvatulppia varmaankin juuri tätä varten.

Grote ruime kamer (nr 16 op de 3e verdieping). Zonder badkamer of toilet (die was op de gang) maar dat wist ik van tevoren.

Het ontbijt was wel heel karig. Alleen geroosterd brood met jam of honing, thee of oploskoffie en beperkt fruit. Geen kaas of vleeswaren of ei of iets anders. Maar ik was er gezien de prijs wel tevreden mee.

In the centre of the town, everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was delicious and for an extra £4 per person you got a full breakfast. They sell bar snacks but when the food came, they were more than snacks.

Ci hanno offerto 4 drink di benvenuto al pub e, in stanza, c'erano the, caffè, biscottini e, addirittura, due sacchetti di caramelli che i nostri figli hanno molto apprezzato. Nessun problema a parcheggiare in strada. Centro comodamente raggiungibile. Stanza ampia. Colazione continentale basic, che con un piccolo sovrapprezzo poteva essere portata all full english breakfast. Ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo.

Hotel un po' vecchiotto. Può dare fastidio il verso dei tanti gabbiani, ma troverete sul comodino una bustina coi tappi per le orecchie (una trovata simpatica). Avevamo due camere: wifi ottimo in una ma molto lento nell'altra.

El personal del hotel. Te reciben con obsequios y eso ya no se ve normalmente en muchos hoteles. El edificio es precioso y tiene pub en la parte inferior. El pueblo de Forres merece la pena también.

Para ser perfecto, sólo le falta ascensor. Por lo demás, sin problema.

Doccia del terzo piano rotta, peccato perché il Bagno era comodo spazioso. Colazione basica ma ok, con pochissimi pound puoi aggiungere un bel piatto caldo ma…si può pagare solo in contanti. Noi in venti giorni non abbiamo mai avuto bisogno di pagare con contanti, e non lo abbiamo fatto nemmeno in questo caso. Peccato! Ma rimane consigliatissimo!!!

Very shabby experience.

It was very tired inside and out, with peeling paper and dirty windows. The shower wasn't very clean with dust over the bottom of the seals, I didn't have a shower, there was nowhere to put any toiletries except on the floor.

Y’a pas d’eau chaude dans la chambre 20, ceux de robinet oui mais pas la douche nous avons suivi l’instruction et laisse du temps à venir mais aucun chaud, heureusement nous avons réservé un deuxième chambre qui a une douche commun, l’eau chaud etait arrive impec la bas. Petit-déjeuner très très très simple (pas de lait chocolat chaud j’avais demandé pour mon fils, refuse) Place parking à chercher et pas à proximité.

Das Zimmer war super, groß, geräumig und schön eingerichtet. Betten auch sauber. Leider war in Zimmer 14 ein riesen Loch zum Dach, welches mit ollen Zeitungen und Plexiglasscheibe geschlossen wurde, zu sehen. Dort lag Vogelcod, sehr unapetitlich. Das Zimmer war groß, bis auf die Möven ruhig. Es war alles vorhanden aber leider von der Sauberkeit gerade in den Fluren und an den Fenster extrem dreckig. Das Bad war eine Katastrophe, der Boiler in der Dusche funktionierte selten (meist nur kaltes Wasser) und der Druck war schlecht. Das Frühstücksbuffet war meist leer.

Suite à un orage, il a plu dans la chambre (plafond). On nous a juste donné une bassine pour récupérer l"'eau et rien d'autre ne nous a été proposé, alors que nous avions encore 2 nuits à passer. La salle de bain partagée était inutilisable (douche) et nous devions utiliser celle de l'etage en dessous, soit 1 salle de bain pour 5 ou 6 chambres. Notre chambre était au 3ème étage sans ascenseur, attention pour les personnes âgées ou avec des difficultés pour marcher. L'hôtel était dans son jus, la chambre était propre mais les couloirs, escaliers et hall assez poussiéreux.

Friendly staff ( young lady on reception even returned my car keys to my room in person). Old fashioned yes but full of character. Various priced rooms with breakfast options available. Handy situated on the high street with a huge range of food options available locally. Clean, comfortable beds. Fantastic value.

Good central location with lots of parking nearby. Rooms and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. Complimentary drink and sweets on arrival was a lovely touch.

We requested rooms near each other but were put in rooms on different floors and opposite sides of the hotel! It appeared that a full breakfast was included but it was only a continental with the option to buy a full cooked breakfast. The coffee at breakfast was instant and not very nice. There wasn't enough pastries so by the time we came for breakfast on our last day, the only options were toast and plain cereal or an apple. Because of the central location we were kept awake the first two nights by people leaving the pub. Earplugs were provided but not comfy to wear when sleeping. There was a price list on the wall that let us know that we overpaid by double by booking online! When I messaged the host before booking, they didn't mention this possible discount to me.

My room at the Carlton hotel was a pleasant surprise. It was plenty large enough with an excellent ensuite. The room was private and the four-poster bed was super comfy. Staff were mostly excellent, very positive and knowledgeable although one was lacking a little in charisma. All in all, thoroughly recommended!

My room was on the second floor and the window was not lockable… that’s about all I was concerned about.

Hotel above a pub in the center of town. Great location, great price, easy to check in with the staff behind the bar. Hot breakfast is extra and we regretted not going for it so I would recommend that you do! Staff generally friendly and/or helpful. Room was perfectly fine and if I remember correctly, they provide you with earplugs to help with the sounds of the seagulls :)

Lage war ausgezeichnet. Das Hotel ist ein sehr, sehr altes Gebäude - dementsprechend natürlich auch die Substanz. Bei der Einrichtung der Zimmer wurde sich allerdings viel Mühe gegeben. Da das Hotel äußerst kostengünstig ist finde ich das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis absolut gerechtfertigt. Man darf sich halt natürlich hier kein 5-Sterne-Zimmer erwarten.

Careful if accessibility issues It’s noisy for seagulls Staff are nice but so young - one girl in training was really trying hard

No cold water in our room (tap or shower), very thin windows - sounded like they were open and very noisy outside gulls and pigeons first then people out on the street possibly after visit to pub below. Disposable earplugs were in our room for us so I guess the management are aware and this looks like a frequent issue. They were shouting loudly from around 00:00 - 01:00. Continental breakfast only consisted of toast butteries croissants with butter jam or honey, fruit juice and tea / coffe and there was one portion box of cornflakes. Had to ask for more juice and croissants. Some yogurts and fruit would have been much appreciated, and some cheese for the toast. No space to park / unload car near hotel. Parcel tape around the window pane on one of the windows. Hatch in roof a little open.

the noise in the room was intolerable. We were above the bar and the side street and the mayhem continued until after 2 am in the morning. The police were there around 1 pm but this didn't stop it. As soon as the police left the racket ramped up again. We knew something was up when we found earplugs on the side table. This isn't acceptable when you have to get up for work at 6 am. Marred the stay completely

Continental breakfast was toast, cereal, an apple and a buttery. It was clean…but

The toilet smelled bad. The sink was old, chipped and cracked, it didn’t feel hygienic. The seagull squawks started at 3am. The earplugs left for us did not stop all the noise and so sleep was difficult. We were not warned about the noise. There is no lift, nor anyone to help with carrying bags up two flights of stairs. There are 2 sets of stairs, one is for staff only but doesn’t say so until you are halfway down.

La fenêtre ne fermait pas complètement, donc du froid entrait par la fenêtre ainsi que les bruits de la rue. La douche était soit glacée, soit brûlante, pas idéal après une journée de marche. Le petit-déjeuner était simple mais bon, sans "vrai" café (seulement soluble). Nous devions y revenir dans quelques jours à la fin de notre treck mais avons annulé pour réserver ailleurs.

Unfortunately the room was very hot and stuffy despite the table fan and the windows didn’t stay open unless you propped them open as we did with a coat hanger . The bed was comfy . The breakfast was okay but they had to wash bowls mid service ! The tv was stuck on one channel E4 despite changing batteries in the remote . Think it relied on lack of other options as was not great value for money

Doors could do with some bumper tape or something to stop them from being so noisy when closing in bedrooms. As being a shared bathroom people were in and out rooms during the night. Location great for wandering around Forres, to ancient landmarks and a waterside pub, & cafe. Bed was comfortable. I rather liked the old, well-worn Scottish decor, as a novelty! Helpful staff.
