Provider-sourced guest reviews.
I live relatively locally but needed accommodation for two nights. As a solo traveller I was made to feel very welcome, staff were attentive and the dinner at the restaurant was lovely. A very relaxed atmosphere and nice touches throughout.
Always made to feel very welcome. The team are superb.
Every detail was perfect, the property looks like it came out of a fairytale, and the service was kind and attentive.
Nothing
The whole venue was stunning
Only thing but personal choice mattress was softer than expected, but as I say personal choice, but this does not take away from a 5*
Beautiful hotel. Very spacious room. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.
Nothing
A beautiful property in gorgeous grounds and not too far away from the town and its shops. Our room was exceptional especially the view from the two huge windows. The bed was extremely comfortable and we slept very well.
There was nothing that we didn’t like about the property.
Everything was great but a bit dirty toilet brush holder.
Very beautiful and cozy rooms. Recommend 🔥🔥
Fabulous room, comfortable bed and lots of nice little touches like free sweets.
Nothing, it was fantastic
The bedroom, the location and the garden.
The three flights of stairs to get to the bedroom - this should be given on booking.
The penthouse suite was lovely and spacious. The pictures don’t do it justice. Lovely comfy sofa in the living area. It was a hot weekend but with all the sky lights you can open the room was easily cooled down, plus a fan is provided. Outside area is very pretty to sit and have a drink. Free parking which is a bonus and only a short walk to the centre of Driffield with plenty of bars/shops and cafes. Staff helpful and pleasant and took us up to the room on check in. We would have liked to try the restaurant but unfortunately we had plans both nights.
The only niggle was the drinks in the bar, the prosecco strangely was measured and was quite expensive for a 125ml which only amount to a third of a flute. Didn’t seem worth it. No draft beer also. But we did only have a couple of drinks as we had plans so it was fine.
The property was old and full of history had such a great day
The property was amazing
Beautiful relaxing place
No reception on TV so couldn’t tune in to watch football World Cup / Wimbledon tennis. Cooked breakfast really nice, selection of cereals / fresh fruit pretty poor.

Beautiful property, really sympathetic to the period it was built. Spotless bedroom. The staff are what makes this stay truly special, they really care. Dinner was incredible, such high attention to detail and truly delicious.
Could not fault it. Breakfast was perhaps a tad expensive at £17 for one pre ordered course. Perhaps a juice offering or additional continental options would have made it feel better value. Delicious none the less.
Lovely room and bathroom. Loved the shower. Staff were very friendly and kind
Nice grounds
They are recovering from recently going bust. Clearly lots to learn and not really boutique quality yet. The parking area is under trees and cars inevitably get covered in bird sh*t
Unique property and rooms
No bar or food due to insufficient staff, quite a walk into town to find somewhere for an evening meal
Could tell a lot of effort went into the rooms styling and furnishing. Bed so comfortable I slept through my alarm!
Breakfast was a tad expensive. Electrical sockets were not placed near to bedside table for easy phone charging.
The Hotel was superb traditional with history the hotel itself was beautiful and the grounds well kept. The room was very comfortable well presented and the bath room was to a high standard.
No problems to speak of.
Wow, what can I say, one of the best nights sleep I have had in ages, I was given the Study which is listed as a large single. It is Not, its a standard double the room is a reall quaint suite, the bathroom is as big as a small apartment in its own right. The roll top bath is huge, great for that end of day post long drive soak. The Staff are fantastic, helpful, polite and full of passion and energy.
Its just a shame I found this place at the end of my project not the start.
Wir bekamen als Upgrade das großzügige Penthouse. Der Aufenthalt war nicht nur deswegen sehr angenehm.
It was quiet as there were very few guests. Location is good for what we needed.
Despite having a website that showed a two rosette menu and five star accomodation......when we got there we were told that the kitchen was closed as the hotel was in 'transition' to new owners. Seems that this hotel is 're-opening' again. When questioned, we were told 'that is the old website that we can't control. There is a new one being built in the background.' We were also told the bar couldn't be opened, presumably because licenses were being transferred....Options to eat in the local area are limited.....wound up with a take-away on the bed! It served a purposes and that was about it. Didn't have breakfast....just didn't have the heart for it. Customer service needs a good shake up too. Didn't even get a 'Good Morning' from reception when coming down the stairs. Too interested in what was online. I've stayed in a lot of hotels around the UK and the world....I know what I am talking about. They could have chosen to not take bookings over this transition period, get the fundamentals right and open when ready. Instead they got a poor review on Booking.com
I would recommend The Highfield to anyone that asked, the staff were exceptional, Lauren was especially helpful and sorted everything so that our stay was fantastic, we will definitely be coming back, the room was beautiful and really clean and unique. We had the full English breakfast and again it was exceptional, really good value for money and very tasty.
Nothing about the stay could have been better, everything was great, we were celebrating our anniversary and Lauren and the staff made it feel really special. Nothing was too much bother, I cannot recommend The Highfield enough!
The room and bathroom were fab - lots of space and light and airy - and the staff were super helpful.
I thought the breakfast was disappointing - 3 poached (non runny) eggs on floppy white bread - it wasn't toasted and I'd asked for brown - which for £13.00 was not what I was expecting. They did say the breakfasts were being looked at so hopefully better in future. The mattress of the bed was a bit soft and lumpy too but still managed to have a good sleep.
Nora, our dog was very much welcomed.
Restaurant closed
Very friendly, personable and helpful staff.
.
A lovely hotel the room was fantastic best I’ve stayed in for a long time. Would highly recommend.
Lovely building. Very comfortable bed and large room. Staff were lovely too.
Nothing
nice room
the food menu only had three choices for the main menu. Breakfast had to be chosen and paid for at check in
Feature room was amazing but shame train isn't still running around room. Huge bath and walk in shower and lovely garden view. Lovely meal in restaurant and liked being shown to our room along with being told the history of the room and the grounds/stream outside.
Not many extras apart from tea bags milk and coffee in 'treat' area. This needs to be improved. Grass needs cutting and grounds need tidying. If bringing a dog you need and paying £25, you need to add extras like dog bowl in room etc
An amazing place, the decor is incredible and all the staff are so friendly and welcoming The bed was incredibly comfortable
Nothing to dislike
Spacious room and decor
The breakfast was a little over done but enjoyed the room breakfast was served in and staff were lovely
Friendly. Local. Gorgeous property. Could have stayed longer welcoming
Staff were lovely. It was our Wedding Anniversary & Laura brought us a bottle of fizz to our room.
Having to pay £30 for a dog is excessive after paying £168 for room only. Sadly no evening meal was available but that did not come to light until after we booked the room.
The blue room was impressive having a four poster bed though slightly odd having the bath in the actual bedroom. Our pink room was much smaller and had the ornate sink in the bedroom. Staff were friendly. Check in and out experience fine.
Mirrored bedroom wall and odd room layouts. The cooked breakfast was okay, but missed normal cold extras like yoghurt, croissants, etc. My daughter had what turned out to be a very expensive bacon sandwich. The blue room door handle was hard to open. Caffettieras in both rooms hadn't been cleaned.
Absolutely amazing beautiful hotel. Could not fault anything
Phyliss was wonderful. She made me feel so welcome. All the staff were delightful. My room and bed were very comfortable and quiet.
No complaints.
The hotel was a feast for the senses. Great colour schemes and themes rooms. Beautiful wallpapers and decor in keeping with the style of the hotel. Very unique and individual. We loved it!
Very comfortable and honestly the best shower I’ve ever had in a hotel. It was like a spa! Loved the quirkiness of the room. Decor and soft furnishings were sumptuous and very comfortable. Slept so well. Grounds were stunning too. Phyllis was very welcoming and engaging. She couldn’t do enough for us. She was great at regaling us with the history of the hotel when it had been a family home.
Building, rooms, staff
Limited dining provision; no dinner available
Room was good size,
Coffee pot not clean in room No restaurant weerkdays TV not working No plugs by bedside Room cold
Wonderful, characterful rooms throughout the hotel. Individual designs and many of the fittings carried out by the owners and family members. Superb cooked breakfast. Superb staff who gave their time and shared some history of the building and previous uses. Loved our time here.
Unfortunately, the dining room was not open on the day we stayed, so check that when booking. We did know in advance and it was not a problem.
Beautiful hotel with sumptuous bedrooms. Friendly attentive staff too.
All good
The breakfast was great, although the portion size for the vegan breakfast was small. Tea and coffee was great, the staff are very welcoming and friendly. Amazing rooms and splendid gardens.
The hot water turned off half way through my shower. We didn’t have hot running water from 10:30pm onwards. I had to wait until the morning to shower. I didn’t get to use the lovely bath in our room. Hopefully next time!
stunning hotel, lovely staff.
restaurant & bar unfortunately not open on the day we stayed but visited a lovely Indian's down the road.
Restaurant and bar are closed on a Sunday evening, it’s run by an outside contractor and not under the control of the hotel which was very disappointing, if we’d known we wouldn’t have booked for a Sunday night stay. We will book again but not on a Sunday it’s something guests should be made aware of before booking
Außergewöhnliche Ausstattung
Just perfect, nestled out of the way in lively grounds it was the perfect escape, there was such a cute little sweet station you could help yourself too and the room was gorgeous! One of those places where it’s actually even better than the picture. We are already planning our next trip.
Owner and staff as well as facilities The room was beautiful
Nothing
Amazing property, super dog friendly, great staff and very clean and relaxing. We can’t wait to come back

Lovely room, lovely setting very friendly staff.
Very overpriced food, and not good quality. Breakfast was horrible.
My daughter and I booked afternoon tea. It was delicious. There was a lovely mix of hot and cold, sweet and savoury. The staff were very accommodating of our dietary requirements and nothing was too much trouble. The staff were very welcoming and I would have no hesitation in recommending.
We booked this hotel in July for a special Christmas treat after two recommendations It was not cheap but we expected more for a 5 star hotel - very disappointed It appeared very disjointed when asked to pay the remainder of the room seperately The suite was very grand in appearance showing good quality furnishings but very cold, the kettle was still half full of water from the previous inhabitant, the tea bags were loose in a jar but not in a wrapper as expected. Also soap and shampoo dispencers in the bathroom and shower had very little left in them Dinner and drinks were OK but the menu was nothing special but being run by a different management to the main hotel Break fast was poor and did not come up to the standards of even a Premier Inn This was served in the lounge because it didnt come under the restaurant management. This hot break fast was prebooked from the night before along with a choice of 3 cereals , orange and apple juice, toast and tea or coffee No fruit, no yoghurt, no croissants, no danish pastries or buns - Extremely Poor Nowhere near a 5* more like a Three star only and would not recommend for the price paid
I booked 2 nights in The HIGHFIELD House 8 months ago as a birthday treat for my partner, following a previous visit. The house and grounds are really lovely. The room (Mallard), beautiful, comfortable and very stylish. We had a dog with us and she was given a lovely big bed, dishes and treats. The tea, coffee and snack facilities were great. Breakfast was okay but not on a par with our previous experience. The main gripe we had this time was that we couldn’t use the bar while we were there. We had been told only a couple of weeks ago as an afterthought, that the restaurant wouldn’t be open to us, because an external company now runs it and it only opens on certain days that didn’t happen to be the days we were there. We weren’t hugely happy about that but decided we would find somewhere else to eat for the birthday meal. We didn’t realise that this also includes the bar as it wasn’t made explicit to us in the slightly offhand email that informed us they were sorry we had ‘chosen’ to stay on days the restaurant wasn’t open. As well as the restaurant being shut, the bar was shut to us too. So despite we were celebrating a birthday, we couldn’t even sit in the bar after we’d been out for a meal, and this felt unfair from a paying customer perspective, especially as during the first night we were there, the bar and hotel were full of staff enjoying their Christmas do. We had even agreed to check in a bit late so that they could enjoy their Christmas meal. We were given a list of alternatives for food and drink which all happened to be 12 miles away in Beverley. If we’d wanted to go that far we’d have stayed in Beverley, rather than Driffield. We were told that the hotels operating procedure had changed in summer and that we should have been informed at this point. Shame really, it did spoil the experience somewhat.
You select a room, you like the pictures of the room but you never get the room. This hotel was the complete opposite. For the first time i actually got the room I requested. And it was fabulous The Four poster bed was the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in and the coffee was simple wonderful
I have Nothing to say
Family celebration, we booked 8 rooms including the penthouse for the evening as well as a meal in the restaurant. This is our 2nd stay and we will certainly return. The rooms were beautifully presented and clean, the penthouse was amazing ! The food and service in the restaurant was lovely. The staff were all great, couldnt fault our stay.
Beautiful place, super friendly staff, amazing room and grounds and delicious dinner. The Christmas decorations were stunning.
Wish we could have stayed longer!
One of the best hotels I have stopped in. Felt Magical. Great bath!
Serval lighting systems took a while to master but wow what a great room the Stitch was.
Lovely old property, lots of character, each room individually decorated in a unique way. Evening meal was superb and staff very attentive. Fresh milk for the tea and coffee, sweet treats jar. Beautiful entrance hall and staircase
Breakfast was a disaster, one member of staff, struggling to cope. No loose sugar for cereals, orange juice half empty. Toast served with no butter, jam or honey. No pastries or fresh fruit. The cooked meal was however excellent. But the service and buffet items certainly not what would be expected from a 5 star hotel. The breakfast team, could learn a lot from the evening restaurant staff. Baths in the main bedroom, wouldn't be everyone's taste and personally we prefer separate en-suite facilities not within the room itself
I held my wedding at Highfield for 80 family and friends. Lindsey was amazing and answered any questions promptly. We discussed all the details and she had some brilliant suggestions. The house on the night looked magical - it was literally breathtaking. The attention to detail was incredible. All my guests said they had never been to a venue like it. The food was sublime, even though we were having such a good time in the parlour we were late for dinner! The service was brilliant, and all the waiting staff so helpful (bringing my mum a cushion to help her back) and everything ran like clockwork. It was a miracle how they turned the drawing room around three times! All in all the absolutely most perfect venue and hosts. Lindsey even out flowers and candles in the bridal suite. If you marry here you will be a very lucky couple!
Nice building. Good bedroom
Room freezing. Breakfast not brilliant
I never write reviews,However following my stay at this beautiful venue I made an exception. I attended a wedding here on 27 November 2025. Many people from literally all over the world came to celebrate my sister’s wedding. The attention to detail, the knowledge and hospitality of everyone working there and the combined commitment to the pursuit of perfection was unsurpassed. Mark and Lauren with their respective teams excelled in delivering sumptuous food and unwavering service. Was it the fabulous house, or the fantastic staff that made this a truly magical and memorable wedding ? I think it was all of this and so so much more.
What a stunning venue our daughter and groom to be chose for their winter wedding especially as the decorations enhanced by the many chandeliers made it warming and very atmospheric. There were so many opportunities to take memorable photographs and the happy couple were even lucky enough to have some taken in the garden and in the snow. Lindsey, the owner of the establishment was excellent and on hand all day to ensure that everything went according to plan. She even advised the bride where to hold her bouquet before entering the ceremony room. The venue was very welcoming on our arrival with friendly and attentive staff. They couldn’t do more for us when setting up (and clearing up) the ceremony and dining rooms. The food was plentiful and beautifully presented. We all had a fabulous time and will remember this day for the rest of our lives.
We had a fantastic stay, the staff are very welcoming and friendly. The hotel decor is beautiful and is set in stunning grounds. The little extras such as sweets available were a nice touch. It was great being able to sit in the lounge area and relax with a book, I wish we could have stayed for longer. I will definitely book again.
Limited restaurant options in Driffield
What a fantastic hotel at a great location. Met by friendly, attentive and welcoming reception staff who gave a brief history of the hotel and our room. Our room was stunning - beautiful decor with an abundance of style, quality and comfort. Beautiful roll top bath, great shower, four-poster bed and a nice view. In addition to the selection of tea's/coffee was a "snack station" with additional biscuits/sweets/crisps/tea's and milk. Our evening meal was great, great food & service in a beautiful dining room - all very classy and smart. Staff were welcoming, pleasant throughout our stay - thank you all. Before leaving we had a walk in the grounds which was pleasant enough.
Only a slight moan regrettably. We were asked to complete our breakfast order upon arrival which was fine. Full English breakfast - ideal. At breakfast we gave our room details, sat in another lovely beautiful room full of character and decadence. Once we gave our toast / drink order they both arrived promptly - sadly the toast had barely been toasted and was only just warm. The cooked breakfast arrived instantly but before we had the chance to enjoy cereal/juice which hadn't been offered. The full English was satisfactory, the bacon was thin & crispy and no offer of any sauces.
Perfect hotel, food very good and the decor was truly beautiful. Very clean all round and our bedroom was so comfortable and quite breathtaking. Staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful and want to return very soon. Small downside was the temperature which was very warm!! But other than that pretty much perfect……Thankyou
A fantastic hotel, full of character and charm. My room was beautiful with lots of lovely touches, like proper coffee, bath salts, crisps and popcorn. . All the staff were all very friendly and helpful and I can't wait to return
Nothing, it was all brill.
Lovely decor
Nothing
We enjoyed a wonderful short break in this gorgeous hotel. We’ve never stayed anywhere as beautiful. The hotel is a feast for the eyes, with design features everywhere you look. The attention to detail is amazing. We experienced a personal approach to service and felt very spoiled indeed. Special thanks to Phyllis for ensuring that our stay was perfect.
Very welcoming on our arrival. Shown to our room which was luxurious. Had a meal in the restaurant which without doubt was way above our expectations. Will definitely recommend to friends and family. All staff extremely helpful and friendly. Candy store on landing outside our room was a nice touch . All in all a perfect night away. Paul and Claire East Yorkshire
Visited The Highfield for Sunday lunch as part of a cycle trip from London to Newcastle. The staff were so welcoming and helpful with our bikes and the house is simply delightful. Based on some of the mixed reviews I knew that I would like the house but was prepared for a lacklustre lunch. I could not have been more wrong. The food was beautifully presented and ranks as one of the most delicious meals of my life. I am not sure that I have ever tasted better seared scallops, they were so fresh and skilfully sear to a thin crisp. The local roast beef was so tender, moist and full of flavour. This is a world class standard of cuisine and the staff were so attentive and friendly throughout. Honestly, five stars is simply not enough.
We visited on saturday having booked in May with the 10 course taster menu and wine pairing. I was a bit worried with some of the recent negative reviews after changes that have been going. However, Im pleased to say it was a lovely stay. Our meal booking was honoured even though they don't offer that now, and after having to cancel the original date due to illness, they allowed us to move it without problem. It was a lovely luxurious room (and clean unlike some reviews say!) with nice touches such as bottle of bubbly and sweets/snacks on the landing. The taster menu and wine pairing was absolutely lovely! Well done Lauren and Mark and I hope you manage to bring the taster menu back in. Thanks to Lauren and the other young lady (sorry didn't get your name!) for the attentive service aswell. Only downside was an issue when paying the hotel bill and it was more (quite a bit more!) than I had booked it for. Fortunately I had the confirmation on my email but even then it had to be checked out before I could pay so not a nice way to end on.
Gone into liquidation, they have no care, I have also factually found out they are still taking money from businesses knowing that they will have to claim back from liquidation, these are small businesses, no care do not line their pockets!
Delighted with our visit to the Highfield Hotel in Driffield where we dined at the Mill and Vine Restaurant. Jemma on reception was so welcoming and gave us a private tour of the hotel and reception rooms, which are truly amazing. In the beautifully appointed dining room we enjoyed a delicious Sunday lunch. Fergus our waiter was extremely polite and took great care to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. It was my birthday and I couldn't have wished for a better day. Thanks to everyone concerned at the hotel and restaurant.
This place has to be one of the worst places I’ve visited. Dirty, dusty and full of cobwebs. I now understand how they got a score of 1 for hygiene please don’t waste your money. They’ve now gone into liquidation and it’s up for sale. Don’t turn up with a voucher it won’t be honoured.
