Location was absolutely perfect, next to the lake and close to town for a lovely local pub meal. The staff were amazing, so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. The dome itself was just a dream. Warm, cozy, clean and every little touch thought of. Romantic as well as private and lovely if you just wanted a quiet stay. The beds were amazing, so warm and comfortable and the view at night through the dome was just beautiful. We turned out fire off so we could appreciate the stars but were still so warm as there was heating and electric blankets. Breakfast the next morning was absolutely delicious and the staff exceeded our hopes. We will definitely be back. Can't wait to be honest.

Fantastic location close to the lake Hawea. Very comfy domes with all the facilities. The staff wa simply fantastic and helpful. Home made breakfast every morning - the chef was great!!
Beautiful experience. Clean and tidy.
The domes are so comfortable, luxury even in the cold temperatures. Great breakfast and staff!

It was a lovely treat to stay in such luxury, shame it was only one night. Everything was beautiful and clean and friendly. Breakfast was really good. We got an accidental deal which they kindly honored, which meant we could show our friend from the U.K. a bit of luxury.
There is nothing not to like. It's all brilliant.
It’s really beautiful property. Everyone working there is super nice and helpful. The room is very beautiful. It’s located in a park.
The room had a burning smell. I wonder if it’s from the fireplace or how the room is heated. But it smelled like plastic burning from time to time. Didn’t bother me too much but I wish it wasn’t like that.
Absolutely stunning! It seems the owners have really taken the time out to make this experience extremely comfortable! The heated bathroom floors, the lovely breakfast, the comfortable bed, the sensor lights, the luxurious fittings and furniture! Loved it all!
Internet issues. The host gave us vouchers to fix this but unfortunately the internet didn’t work at all. But hey good way to switch off.
Nice getting a cooked breakfast. Not at all like camping!
Not a great view
The domes were a very high standard with en-suites and small kitchen. The staff were very helpful and breakfast was great.
Nothing.
The tent itself is super cool and well done!
These tents are on a top 10 holiday park it isn’t Glamping or a luxury retreat you are 20 metre max from kids and adults there is no fence or sound barrier which means they can come onto your spot at anytime. We stayed here and from 4pm to 11pm all we heard was drum and bass music, motorbikes, and kids screaming. After raising this with the staff twice we were told it’s the busy season and that was it.We have even tried reaching the property since to discuss this and been ignored which had added further dissatisfaction for this accomodation. For $600 you would expect nice soaps that aren’t used , a welcome drink on arrival and the hot tub for free as per a question on booking.com none of this was the case staying here. I am extremely disappointed in this place and would actually call it a catfish property.

I think the coffee machine in the room didn’t work properly
The unique experience staying in a dome as well as the awesome freshly cooked breakfast every morning!!! It was the first and probably the only time we had an awesome chilli oil sauce in the entire NZ trip. I love how the camp manager was so nice and friendly. We gave a random idea of using chili oil to make a savoury French toast, and they immediately went to try it out! We were glad that the team was so receptive to feedback and changes. I really love the team (especially the camp manager then) managing the domes!
Totally none!
Everything. Love to come back

Was a very unique experience. Room was clean, toilet was spacious and there was a little kitchenette.
There was a weird smell in the room, may be due to the tent material. Wifi was very slow, almost non-existent. The only view from the room was of the trailer park.
This unique property was very enjoyable! We spent one night and elected to use the private hot tub, which is fire heated made by a company based in Wānaka. It was wonderful after a day of hiking and very hot! The chef also was able to accommodate us with dinner, which was a soup with prawns, a very nice filet, and dessert. It, as well as the breakfast, was delicious. The “tent” itself is well designed and certainly not camping! All in all well worth the experience!
The only negative I could say, which mirrors what other reviewers have said, is that the glamping portion is adjacent to but separate from a camper park, but we’ve found this type of arrangement not unusual in New Zealand.
The chef dinner on the Saturday night was exceptional & the breakfast was a very high standard too The hot tub, cheese and wine was a highlight!
The option to close the curtains in the tent would be appreciated.
Incredible property, great facilities and very comfortable.
Having a private Chef, who went above and beyond to provide a memorable dinner - such a special treat!
Beautiful tent, nice breakfast
We didn’t love that booking.com presentation is not very accurate. Images create an illusion that it’s glamping in nature, which is only partly true, you are actually part of a big campsite with trailers, houses etc so this for us was not as nice, especially because we didn’t expect it. Maybe if you check google maps it’s visible but it’s not positioned this way. There was a big party the night we stayed, music was great (good singer) but we couldn’t sleep
It was super unique and modern.
There was nothing I didn’t like
Facilities were perfect, quiet and great for stargazing. Breakfast was great
Some of the other domes kept their lights on later, making it difficult to see the stars
Beautiful and very comfortable room-tent. I had a great sleep, the bathroom is ridiculously great, best shower of this entire trip. Clean, well equipped. And the staff members were so nice to prepare for us to-go breakfast because of our early check out.
Internet is just not working. For this price per night it should be improved.
Gorgeous domes super comfy great experience.
Well maintained. Felt like in a 5 star hotel
The upper part of the “window” is not covered so in the morning the sun is annoying
Location and accommodation
Great location with amazing and helpful staff
Really modern and stunning interior, bed was really comfortable, the staff were really lovely, and just a gorgeous stay all together! Absolutely loved it and would visit again!
Nothing.
Absolutely amazing stay, so beautiful.
Only improvement we could think of would be a small fire pit or gas heater on the private deck.
We didn't end up having breakfast in the end but it looked great!!
It was quiet and spacious for the two of us. Felt like a really good escape away from devices. We watched the sky all night! Such a great way to stargaze.
Staff very lovley and welcoming. We were unsure on times we would arrive and leave and they catered for us exceptionally. Prepared breakfast for us for our early morning. I couldn’t ask for a better experience!
I liked that you don't park your cars near each dome. It's more intimate and fun having the wee carts to take your belongings to your dome. Beautiful spot
Leaving
We rented two domes during winter, and although we arrived late, everything was well-prepared. The heaters were already on, making the space warm and cozy the moment we stepped inside- well done to the team for the thoughtful setup! They also made sure we had all the information we needed. The dome itself was comfortable, and the bed was cozy, we had a great night’s sleep. Breakfast was simple just eggs, toast, and bacon. We were hoping for a bit more variety, maybe some sausages, mushrooms, or hash browns to round it out. Hopefully, they’ll consider expanding the options next time. That said, we had a fantastic overall experience and would happily come back again! 😊
Variety for breakfast
Set adjacent to a camping ground and close to Lake Hawea the 'Tent's were supremely comfortable, beautifully appointed and staff extremely helpful. It was lovely to lie in luxury in the bed, the fire warming us and see the stars through the tent 'Window. Being double-skinned it was warm and inviting. We were completely unaware of other guests. Breakfast, cooked by the resident chef was a magnificent take on eggs Benny, as well as the usual continental offerings. I can't wait to go back.
Would have loved to use the spa, but didn't realise it was there until the next morning. That's on me though.
If I could give this place 100 stars out of 10, I would. I feel so lucky that my friend and I snagged a night here - it was hands down the nicest place we stayed in New Zealand. The dome is massive - plenty of space for two people to spread out. The bed is new and comfortable - there is a separate 'closet' space and luggage rack for each person including robe and slippers. Dome includes a full blown coffee station with espresso machine and luxury teas. And the breakfast is delicious - hash browns, poached eggs, sprouts(!!), fresh squeezed OJ, and they give you your own carafe of coffee. The lake is a 5 min walk and with a full moon, it was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen (note: this moonlight also pours into your dome through transparent ceiling). The beach nearby has few people and there is a sauna (we skipped this and swam at the beach anyways). Will at front desk came out to meet us and help us with directions/bags to our dome, and the owners were there offering us appetizers. Digby the pupper was also part of the wonderful welcome committee - it was the best arrival experience I've had in years. Richard (Rick?) the owner also recommended what we should do the next day (Siberian Experience), and it was also one of the best things we did on our trip. If there is availability here, do not hesitate to book it. Lovely spot and very special humans. Will even brought me a brownie when I was working late and on calls. Big thanks to everyone at Cross Hill for the unforgettable stay!
NA I cannot wait to go back
While I would have otherwise said nothing, I've been asked for my review twice now, so here goes. My (adult) son and I traveled to NZ to visit my (adult) daughter who lives nearby in Wanaka. After an evening out my daughter and I returned to our 'dome' (which was really pretty and cool) and she decided to stay with us rather than travel the 20 minutes home. She went to breakfast with us at the lodge and after we were nearly through the meal, the female owner approached my daughter (despite me clearly being the oldest adult) and told her it against policy to have a third guest, that this policy is all over the website and that we were being charged $150 for her presence. I joined my daughter as this chastisement continued and said "OK, thank you." No argument: you say it's your policy and we are the chumps for violating, fine, I accept it. We proceeded to get dirty looks for the rest of our two day stay (my daughter stayed at her home the second night). When I returned home I double-checked the website and while it is rife with warnings not to bring children, and statements of the dire consequences if you do, there are no similar "third guest" warnings. (My children are 27 and 25 btw so to me 'no children' clearly means 'no kids.'). If I had known it would cause such a fit of pique we would have made other arrangements for the evening. We also accepted our punishment without complaint, so someone in the hospitality business should work on getting over themselves, and happily accepted the extra $150 she received for an extra serving of mid French toast and a coffee. This was the only negative interaction we had with anyone during our visit to this lovely and magical country. On the last day of our trip in summing up our most positive/negative experiences, this interaction with the owner of Cross Hill was the only negative. So there is your review.
Exceptional architecture, management and catering. Loved the tranquility and the service.
The accommodation was lovely and modern, exceptionally clean and surrounded by beautiful gardens. The bed was super comfortable, would be very cozy in winter
Beautiful location, with amazing stargazing! Pod was very well equipped with everything you need and extra facilities such ass the hot tub made a every special stay. Friendly staff and great breakfast.
Nothing.
Great stay, great place, great facilities and great breakfast. Worth the high price though? Not really
Fabulous shower
Would be nice if it was facing the lake.
Cannot fault anything with our stay. Everything was exceptional Food Staff Cleanliness Experience
Cost. Was expensive but I guess with all the pros it comes with a price

Awesome Breakfast. Sarah was very helpful with early checkin. She also helped us getting our flat tire fixed.
Fantastic stay!!
Would recommend to organize the breakfast a bit more, we had to wait quite some time for our breakfast and people who joined the table later than us got served first.. As we were on a tight schedule and had planned to start the day early with a long hike and long drive afterwards we had to reschedule some plans.
The tents have everything you would expect, even a milk frother and bathrobe.
The heating of a tent in winter is obviously a problem. You must keep the AC running on max the whole night, which is quite loud. The see through window is nice to see stars but blurs the view a bit so you can't see them sharply.
Incredible stay. Beautiful room with a great view of the mountains. Bed was extremely comfortable and the fire place was a nice touch. Only a 15 minute drive to Wanaka and a short walk to Lake Hawea. 10/10. Wish we’d stayed longer!
Nothing.
Absolutely everything was excellent. My husband and I booked only 1 night and regret not staying for longer. We booked the hot tub and the experience was amazing. The staff Gloria helped us but adding more wood to the hot tub and made it like a camp fire in the hot tub. She brought us some marshmallows which we roasted while we were in the tub. It rained the whole night and the sound of rain was lovely. The heated bathroom floor and fireplace helped us stay warm.
nothing. it's a must visit
Truly wonderful experience! Everything about the glamping tents is very well designed and every possible need anticipated. Warm, cosy, modern, efficient, handsome… even elegant! This takes “glamping” to a five-star level. We’ll definitely be back.
If you’re a fan of good coffee, bring your own favourite Nespresso pods; they’re provided, but this one small thing was not especially high quality.
Plenty of room and well equipped. Super comfortable bed. Lovely complimentary breakfast in the morning which was a good opportunity to meet fellow travellers.
The Domes are on a shared campsite. They are in their own private area however.
Extremely clean. Beautiful and comfortable. Excellent breakfast: everything was amazing
The dome was a different experience. The hostess was very friendly. The food was very good.
The location in or near a campground was disappointing. Not the pretty view I was expecting.
Beautiful settings
Nothing
The room is nice! Sleep with the sky with a lot of star. Toilet is fancy and tiny, and we had a relax and chill breakfast!
We are family of 5, booked 2 room but cannot add extra bed. So 1 of us need to sleep alone at campsite while a bit far away from us.
EVERYTHING. The domes are spectacular I’ve never seen anything like it before it has everything you need! it’s luxurious! plus you get delicious free breakfast every day!!
nothing really! but didn’t realise there is a campground just below the domes so the domes are facing the camping tents etc and you can sort of hear the people talking, playing music etc but this did not affect our stay anyway it was still spectacular!
The property is surrounded by wonderful nature. Could see the starry sky from the room. The interior was great.
The neighbors played music and talked loudly until night. The sound isolation is not enough. A moth was in the room. There was no curtain for the main window.
The room and breakfast.
none.
Beautiful property a short walk from the lake and a good place to stop as you tour NZ. nStars at night are good and the dome is very comfortable with everything you need ++ and very good breakfast and friendly staff on hand.
it is behind the campsite with motor homes and tents, not on the lake. Also a shame that staff / chef isn’t available for dinner.
There are just not enough words to explain how magnificent this experience was! Everything and I mean EVERYTHING you could want in a beautiful hotel room is here in a “glamping” setting. Stevie-T was a more than welcoming host from beginning to end. Divine super-king bed with amazing sheets, heated mattress pad, great pillows, comfy duvet, gas fireplace, fridge with milk for in-room tea/coffee, little dishwasher, trendy dishes and glassware, quality towels and dressing gowns, lovely hair and body products …and on and on!! All the decor was high end and beyond beautiful! We ate supper from the on-site food truck then shared a brownie and hot chocolate. We chatted with a friendly camping family white waiting for our food then sat on our deck with blankets and ate while we watched the wild bunnies play on the lawn. Total relaxation. Even though the camp grounds are right in front of the domes, it was quiet the whole time and weren’t bothered one bit. At night, my husband set up his phone and took incredible pictures of the night skies. In the morning we ate breakfast at the main house (which is of course beautiful) with the other guests and had a wonderful time learning about each other. I was lucky enough to have met the owner and had a fantastic conversation with her. Lovely and relaxed, just like the property! We are looking forward to some of their future projects. WE WILL BE BACK!!!
We only stayed one night. Should have stayed two!!!
