The rustic vibe. The additional items supplied like firewood, coffee, rusks and fresh milk. The star of the show was the firewood hot tub. We thoroughly enjoyed it! Nice to see the Alpaca, Springboks, zebras and peacocks

One just needs to be aware of steps all over. Can be a tripping hazard if you are not focused

This place is amazing if you are wanting to get out of the city for peace and quiet. It's an amazing place if you have kids, they have Zebras, Alpacas, pigs, springbok, peacocks and Chickens. A lovely safe place for kids to play, they have 2 big trampolines and a small play area for kids. The accommodation is cozy, and has everything you need.

It's not very private for couples that want to get away.

Loved the whole experience, hot tub under the stars in the middle of winter. It was spectacular. It was the first time my daughter went camping, she was thrilled she still got to have her comforts while still having the camping experience.

Everything was perfect for a nice and relaxing stay.

The surrounding nature

Second time here , just an entirely different vibe. Loved the whole experience. Weather didn't do anything to impact our time there , weather was only an issue the day we left ( today ) , spent most of the time in the hot tub or under the blankets with the electric blanket so didn't really see any animals like the zebra , the pig and only saw 2 springbok as we were leaving. Place still has everything you need, we didn't want for anything. I wish check in could be earlier and check out could be later , was increasingly hard to get my but out the bed this morning.

Unfortunately the road to Caledon , after a storm it is No other way to put it DANGEROUS and TREACHEROUS, we loved the quiet solitude of Otium during off season but not at the expense of our lives. At one point our car got stuck in a ditch and my husband had to get out and push the car etc. To get it out , on our way out of the dirt roads an entire rescue project was happening to unstick a farmers tractor and trailer that was also in a bigger ditch. We will come back to Otium just not during winter , you need an all wheel drive and nerves of steel.

The venue was great, the accommodation was clean and very comfortable with everything we could need. The hot tub was perfect. The braai area was perfect with the fairy lights being a lovely touch!! Our hosts were very kind and helpful. Thank you for a lovely stay!!

The only problem was the campers playing music till late at night on our last night.

It is close enough to travel out of town, but far enough and private enough to get out of the busy city life. the nature and animals was a bonus! feeding a tame Zebra is an absolute priveledge.

My own mistake was not preparing well enough for self-catering. we had everything even complimentary coffee and rusks, but forgot spices and basics like salt and pepper. even though the hosts was so friendly and I'm sure they'd supply us with it if we had asked, thats on me. however a basic salt and pepper shaker could've helped me out a bit.

It was a comfortable and quiet stay. Everything we needed was provided, and the hosts were great and very welcoming.

The place is amazing! Especially if you have kids. Loved the variety of animals on the property. The kids just loved feeding the animals in the morning when they wake up. Very quiet and relaxing environment.

Getting there is a bit of a mission. But it's all worth it. You will have to take all the groceries you need. The nearest supermarket is in Caledon.

We enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the place. We were warmly welcomed.

The overall spot was very nice and clean the owner was very friendly and they had animals you could visit like zebras alpacas ect

Friendly hosts and great value for money. Fridge was stocked with a bag of ice( a really lovely touch) . The glamp site was well equipped with everything one needs. Comfortable accommodation, clean facilities. We experienced the best of both, viz hot water tub as well as cold pool to keep cool. Will definitely recommend this place.

We loved everything the place had to offer.

Host was kind and campsite was well maintained with everything you need. Unfortunately we needed to evacuate to mother natures fires but the host ensured our safety and communicated well. Would have loved to spend more time but our one night stay was still a good memory.

We had a wonderful stay with great privacy and a very peaceful atmosphere. The hot tub was absolutely amazing and a real highlight of our visit. The host went the extra mile by supplying firewood for both the hot tub and a braai, which we really appreciated. Seeing the animals on the property, including zebras, was truly special and made the experience even more memorable. We would definitely recommend this place for a relaxing getaway.

Nothing serious to complain about. A small issue was that some of the cutlery wasn’t completely clean, and the hot water from the gas geyser tended to go cold every ±30 seconds.

The hosts thought of everything. The glamping tents are fully equipped.

It was a fantastic experience, it exceeded every expectation 10 fold. Definitely a return trip destination.

Everything! From the unique tipi with fireplace to the hottub

Gert welcomed us at the gate. Loved the hot tub. Everything we needed and more was in the large spacious tent. Exceptional bathroom! Very romantic for our 50th wedding anniversary! Tesselaarsdal in beautiful part of our country.

Everything was awesome, the host was super friendly and catered to all my needs. I'll definitely be returning!

The glamping and hosts were fantastic....it was self catering...loved the deck and hot tub...will definitely visit again!

No swimming pool...oops and the gravel road...the hospitality however compensated for these shortcomings..

It's a peace of heaven on earth, Alet and hubby was welcoming and went out of her way for us, the place was exceptionally clean and neat, we lacked for nothing, the hot tub was amazing, the animals are adorable and had us laughing, the tipi's has an open space so that when you leave it open you can lay an watch the stars from the comfort of ur bed while keeping warm with a fire besides you, the kids had a blast, open space for them to play, take selfies an explore, it felt very safe even though we were 2 ladies with 3 kids, its the perfect place to reset your soul.

Extremely well decorated and comfortable! Great location and nearby the K3 Zipline. Host also did everything to accommodate us specifically regarding my husband’s surprise birthday party.

Perhaps a bit more light on the shower, but I mean is really a detail and not really necessary . It’s a beautiful glamping and very comfortable and authentic.

Everything was fantastic. It was really an amazing place to come and relax as a couple. The owners were very welcoming and friendly and also very accommodating. We would highly recommend this oasis.

Such a wonderful experience, from the warm reception by the hosts, the attention to details in the tent, and the surroundings, everything was perfect. We loved the hot tub and the braai area, supplied with absolutely everything one needed for the weekend.

Our stay was wonderful. The hot tubs were an absolute dream and made the stay magical. Alet and her husband are excellent hosts, and we will definitely be going back in the future.

What a fantastic property - everything you need for a break from the busy city life!

The hosts were amazing and everything you could need was catered to. We loved the quiet retreat where you can connect with nature. The free roaming springbok were beautiful to see from our cabin. The hot tub is wonderful and really adds to the romantic feel of the alpaca tent/cabin. Overall, we had a great time and could not have asked for anything more.

There was nothing that we did not like.

We were on our honeymoon and would have liked a bit more privacy, as it is quite open to everyone seeing each other, but it was an amazing stay and we will definitely be back.

How beautiful it was to do star gazing at night , it was so calm and clear and absolutely breathtaking.

The place, staff, owners and tent with the surroundings was stunning and awesome. The tent had Everything we needed and the owners even checked in to find out if we ok and needed anything to make our stay more comfortable. We received wood for the hot tub and to braai and even ice in freezer when we arrived. The lights also around the hot tub was amazing in the evenings. The owners are a wonderful couple and go out of their way for you. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone for a glamping experience or even just for a romantic weekend away.

If you want a place that's quiet away from everything that's close to capetown. That's what I liked about it

Was a stunning little getaway from the hustle and bustle. The tents were in great condition and extremely comfortable.

Loved: Springboks running around our car, hottub The stars that were so clear at night The fact that we literally needed absolutely nothing - because everything was there literally the only thing that was not there unless we missed it ( which we might have) was a can opener and really I didn't expect there to be one, there was just so much of everything else I thought we might have missed it lol. The small touches that made it really special , the fairy light pond, the fairy lights by our hot tub, the complimentary ice and wood, the bath bombs and bath salts and battery flower lights in the bathroom, the coffee , rusks etc. The zebra and other animals, I named the Pig Winston and the zebra Zara ( they most definitely have other names) Animals were very well looked after.

I will preface this by saying we already booked Otium Glamping again for Dec 2025 & Jan 2026 Not so much as didn't like but noticed We rented the Alapca / Couples Glamping experience - it's not as private as what some people might expect ( which is okay) but this is just something you may want to note because other glamping tents around you are family orientated and sound CARRIES , also the pathway by our glamping tent is used universally by a lot of people going a little bit up the way to the splash pool, the petting zoo and the playground. For example: The first night we heard some person playing a yoga drum non stop for like 5 hours ( before 10pm - like late afternoon until early evening) and we worked out it came from one of the tipis - not a complaint just an observation Also side note: The springbok hide if there is a lot of noise ( like kids or loud music or or or) so you won't see them if kids are running through the forest ( this is just an example) The gravel road to get there is difficult to trapeze, just take it slow and be patient and should be fine, we got there fairly easily with a Honda Jazz.
