Reviewed Sep 14, 2026We loved that the heater was on in our room, The owner was very helpful & friendly. The bed was super comfortable, & it was very quiet & peaceful, Also there was a great walking path along the river next to the motel.
The bathroom needs an upgrade, but we understand that is on the plans, they can't do evrything at once. It was ok tho, nice shower pressure, plenty of hot water & bathroom not too small.

The place is well overdue for an update. It feels like you're stuck in the early-mid 90's. Car parking is a bit scarce.

Kim & Wayne were accomodating in every way , location on the river plus river walk , view , room was very comfortable I could have stayed longer . Will definitely be back & also recommend .

The walking path could do with a few solar powered lights as it was quite dark at night.

Reviewed Mar 17, 2026We had a wonderful two-night stay at the Waimarie on Riverside in Nelson. The hotel has a charming cottage-style feel right on the river, and its location is perfect, just a few minutes’ walk into the CBD. Our room was spotless, the beds were very comfortable, and the furnishings really suited the quaint character of the building. A special mention to Wayne and Kim, who went above and beyond to make sure we were well looked after throughout our stay.
We stayed in two different rooms. Both were great but Room-1 did have some vehicle noise as it was close to the main road.

Reviewed Jan 20, 2026The accommodations are a short walk from town center. We were able to walk to museums, the river, shopping and even the movie theatre. The hosts are extremely welcoming and accommodating. They gave suggestions on what to do in Nelson and they provide very affordable laundry facilities.
Nothing I could complain about. The rooms are screened off from the street with hedges/flowers and therefore there really isn't a view, but there is a semi private sitting area in front of the room where you can sit and enjoy coffee.
