Breakfast was very nice!
breakfast is amazing. staffs are friendly. quiet peaceful surroundings, I like that there's the shrine close by.
The hot spring pool is too small. The room is stuffy and lacks ventilation. There is a complete lack of privacy in the men's room, as everything inside is easily visible from the outside.
Autentica locanda d’altri tempi, arredamento vintage ma funzionale. Personale gentilissimo e clima accogliente.
Grande deviazione dalla shimanami line
The room was large. They had a storage room that you could keep your bicycle and they had a number of tools to help fix any issues. Breakfast was excellent with local cuisine and the dining room had several wooden carvings that were interesting. It was a good stop while I was on the Kaido bike route.
There is no toilet in the room. There were several separate bathrooms for males and females. This was not an issue for us.
Clean and breakfast was delicious! Staff were very polite and helpful.

The breakfast was worth the stay alone. It authentic and delicious.
All was good.
We were two Westerners staying in a traditional Japanese ryoken. Therefore only traditional breakfast as expected and futons on tatami mats which were very comfortable. The ryoken has male and female public bath which enabled us to develop our bath house etiquette before moving onto an onsen. Craft brewery nearby - Omishima Brewery and cafe called Sando.
No ensuite, communal toilets, which we knew before booking.
Really nice traditional Ryokan with high quality. Nice cotton sheets and real tatami’s. Beautiful room. Really nice breakfast room.
Perfect location to stay while riding on the Shimanami kaido. Good halfway point from onomichi. Bicycles kept outside accommodation. Spacious accomodation with own ensuite. Futons comfortable. Kaiseki breakfast was delicious. Omishima is a beautiful island. Staff friendly
I absolutely loved the breakfast. The food was super authentic and of very high quality. The room was also very pretty, in traditional Japanese style.
I thought the room was too warm, and the futon beds were uncomfortable because the mattress was too thin. We could not have dinner at the hotel because it was already full. We walked around but most of the restaurants said we should have reserved. We ended up at a rather bad pizza place.
Very authentic ryokan in a cute costal town. Friendly staff. Good for cyclists.
Futon mattress is a little hard.
Exterior landscaping, great breakfast, spacious room, nice bathroom, well located, gracious and welcoming staff
The bed was not comfortable
Authentic traditional Japanese, access to dryer as we arrived soaking wet.
Nothing, quirky as expected
Very clean friendly and perfect location
Loved the Ryoken. I will def come back here They made arrangement for Japanese style vegetarian breakfast upon request. The rooms were so spacious and the tatami mats were extremely comfortable to do the stretches after along bike ride on Shimonami Kaido. The mattress on tatami mats were very comfortable to sleep on.
It is 7 km off route from blue line. If you are bikingfrom Onomichi, you may be tired to bike up that extra 7 km. But it is totally worth it.
The room was excellent and there was a nice onsen in the hotel. They offered to take us to a salt water bath for free. There was hot tea waiting for us in the room which was a nice touch.
Very friendly staff, very comfortable room. Overall we felt right at home. We particularly enjoyed our dinner experience wearing our yukatas.

The morning breakfast was excellent. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Sawaki was in the perfect location for my Shima Nima Kaido bike ride.
The staff were so friendly. Super clean and nice facilities! Fantastic breakfast. An amazing experience!
We did not take breakfast . It was a little expensive
Our room was a little small
The dinner and breakfast tasted great. The ryokan is close to Dogo Onsen
Bedding and pillow was a bit hard
Was clean, staff was nice and their food was very good. Great rest stop for our bike ride across the islands and back..
Amazing ryokan, extraordinary breakfast, extremely welcoming staff, and cheap too! They offer a storage space for bikes and tools for quick maintenance.
Good facilities for bikers. Clean (but somewhat basic) rooms. Wonderful 24/7 convenience store across the street.
Breakfast was only available at 8am - too late for me, since I wanted to start biking early while it was still pleasant outside. The electric power kept going out.
Great Ryokan, unsuspecting from the outside but very spacious and well fitted. Breakfast was great (kaseki style) and the staff were extremely attentive and kind. They can even take you down to the nearby onsen on request.

Extremely clean facility and great breakfast.
None
Homey and comfortable feel to the place in walking distance to the convenience store.
Nothing
as I cycled past I thought what a nice hotel- not realizing it was mine! The room was beautiful, even has a turn down service for the futon! Water and hot water for tea provided in the room. Loved it. The breakfast was massive and delicious. The staff were so kind.
The futons were comfortable, room was big, small onsen and friendly staff. The breakfast was wonderful and plentiful! The ryokan is almost next to a very big shrine but I didn’t have time to explore! We were told there is a hit sea water bath nearby but we didn’t bring bathing suits!
Shared toilet and bathroom - having said that they were really clean and we had two on the same floor so i never shared.
Very clean and friendly. A welcome rest from our cycling.
Clean, large rooms and great amenities.

The staff were amazingly welcoming. The property is in fantastic condition. All the facilities were excellent. Breakfast was exceptional.
Nothing.
Stayed after the first day of the Shimanami Kaido. It was worth biking a little farther to stay here. The Sawaki staff are very nice and helpful. They drove us to the Onsen (spa) which was nice to rest our tired legs. Dinner was extravagant. Breakfast was very tasty and not a problem on the road. 10/10 would stay again!
Everything was perfect. Our room was on the second floor and our luggage was arranged by the staff to be received and forwarded to our next accommodation seamlessly. Staff was professional, polite and very helpful. The onsen which we were brought to was amazing. The breakfast was also amazing. Even the staff clearing the used plates was mindful about the noise they were making. Which we appreciated and could enjoy the breakfast better. Thank you.
Nothing.
Staff was very friendly and attentive. Breakfast was an exceptional experience. Wished we could’ve stayed longer than just one night
Amazing, traditional accommodation for our family of four whilst cycling the Shimanami Kaido. Arranged for us to be driven to the nearby onsen, which was an awesome experience. Breakfast was incredible, and they very kindly accommodated the vegetarians in our family.
Sparkling clean and very spacios rooms with airconditioning, very comfortable futon beds. Bike parking is available if you do Shimanami Kaido cycling route - just contact the property staff beforehand. The staff is very polite and friendly. They offered and drove us to a near by spa (onsen) and we only had to pay the spa entrance fee. The kaiseki breakfast they serve is exceptional! Totally recommend this Ryokan!
Facility is in fine condition, quiet.
Room was spacious and comfortable but the property and facilities were quite dated. There weren't many options in the area when I booked 1 month prior, but after having stayed, the experience didn't match the amount spent.
A very special place
Very comfortable old traditional ryokan, big rooms, comfortable beds and an excellent breakfast.
Stayed here in the middle of our Shimanami Kaido Cycling route and it was perfect! They have a large parking area for bikes and it's not too far off the main path. The room was very spacious, comfortable, and clean, and had everything we needed. Great place to rest after a lot of biking. There's also a couple of restaurants nearby that are open until late. They also serve a delicious and filling Japanese breakfast.
Nothing!
Exceptional service, with an incredibly warming and nice host. They went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable stay!
Large rooms with very large sink. Excellent meals.
Difficult to use shower head, would have used public bath had i known that private shower was so hard to control shower head.
Very accommodating staff, I made a last minute reservation for dinner as well and they were able to fit us in. Room was large and traditional bedding was comfortable. Breakfast was incredible. Would recommend to anybody doing the Shimanami Kaido or just visiting the area to stay at Sawaki.
Good location close to shops and restaurants in this small town. Great traditional Japanese rooms and very spacious. If you are looking for a place about half way on the bicycle ride between Imabari and Onomichi then this is an ideal place to stop for the night.
The room was spacious and the staff friendly.
The rooms are pleasant enough, the whole place is tired though and has a slight yesteryear nursing home vibe. Could do with some refresh and clean out.
The wireless internet didn't work reliably.
