Lucky's Surf Camp

This place was awesome! Room was huge and the bathroom also really big. Great location, and the provided breakfast is THE BEST that I have ever had at a hotel. 100% would stay here again and I hugely recommend it. Staff were also very friendly and helpful.

Das Personal ist ausgesprochen freundlich. Wir waren während des Aufenthalts leider beide krank und sowohl der sehr nette Mann von der Zimmerreinigung als auch die Mitarbeiter des Restaurants haben sich täglich nach uns erkundigt. Die Lage ist top und die Zimmer sind auch super.

Das einzige was etwas schade war, dass die Unterkunft keine eignen Liegen am Strand hat. Aber das ist zu verschmerzen.

Das Essen war außergewöhnlich. Personal sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Es gab abends immer Beschäftigung und Angebote an denen man teilnehmen konnte, wie Yoga, Live Musik etc.

Отдыхали 5 дней в октябре, отель чистый, ресторан завтраки потрясающие, вид из ресторана восхитительный. Брали один урок по серфу, даже с англоговорящим инструктором все было понятно. Остались довольны. В номере убирались каждый день.

Огромный минус это отсутствие холодильника в номере и сейфа. Кровать была очень скрипучая. Комары просто сожрали нас. Пол в ванной очень скользкий, аккуратно! Отсутствовал шкаф, все вещи лежали в чемоданах, что очень не удобно!

Super Atmosphäre und geniales Frühstück - guter Cappuccino mit Latte Art, schön angerichtetes und leckeres Essen! Besonders, wenn man an den vielen Angeboten (Surf Schule, Karaoke Abende auf der Dachterrasse, gemeinsam Feiern/Essen gehen) Interesse hat ist es super.

Wir waren leider im Nebengebäude. Wenn einem die Atmosphäre bzw. gemeinsame Unternehmungen nicht so wichtig sind, gäbe es ggf. etwas günstigere Alternativen

El desayuno es genial, hay varias opciones para elegir de platos acompañados de un café y un zumo natural. La limpieza de las habitaciones es diaria, y el personal de limpieza es súper amable.

Nuestra habitación estaba en el otro edificio y teníamos que cruzar para ir a desayunar. Por lo demás todo bien.

Lovely clean and spacious rooms with the comfiest beds we’ve had on our 2 months travelling! Great shower with plenty of hot water and a gorgeous balcony where you can listen to the waves crashing. The restaurant above had excellent food and even better staff! The little shop in the reception area is also super cute. Thanks to all who made it such a lovely stay, especially the friendly and kind staff members :)

Location was amazing, close to beach and perfect spot for surfing . Food was fabulous and staff were friendly and helpful. Definitely will be back again

Goed! Lieve mensen, leuke locatie dicht bij het strand.

Relatief dure surflessen (10.000) terwijl elders op het strand voor 4.000 een goede les mogelijk is. Daarnaast ontbijt is lekker maar iets meer keuze was fijn geweest.

We felt at home right away and the 3 nights we spent here went too quickly. All the staff are so friendly and helpful. The room was extremely clean and modern. The location was perfect for us as it’s right next to the beach and close to the rest of weligama. But we liked that it still felt quiet. The breakfast was delicious in the rooftop cafe - After surf. We used the cafe one day to do some remote work, whilst enjoying a selection of their food and drink. And one night we ate dinner at after surf too, again lovely. We hope to return and stay here again soon, everything was perfect.

Nothing - all perfect, no improvements

The food was excellent throughout our stay. The staff was top-notch and worked hard to be sure we were comfortable. Easy walk to beach down an uncrowded road. Close to other restaurants and businesses - a combination of tuk tuks and walking get you to wherever one needs to go.

The beach at Weligama had some garbage, and the ocean's water quality was a bit suspect during our stay in August 2025. We visited Weligama during their off-season. That being said, we were able to surf in front of the neighboring Marriot Hotel for a few days and had a nice time.

The room was beautiful. Bed was comfortable and there was thoughtful decor. It’s a minute walk to the beach. The rooftop cafe has delicious food and breakfast is generously portioned. The hotel manager was a highlight and helped me with a later check out, organizing surf lessons, and making recommendations.

Расположение идеально, если ваша цель - сразу в купальнике выйти на сёрф. Завтраки красивые, вкусные, хотя выбор небольшой. Из "несладких" только две позиции с тостами. Жили в одноэтажном корпусе без вида на море, было вполне комфортно и тихо. Убирались периодически, все чего не хватало, дали на рецепшне. Кондиционер хорошо работал

Расположение до основных магазинов, салонов массажа и т.п. далеко. Приходилось брать тук тук, чтобы добраться до "центра". В самом номере очень минималистично, ничего лишнего, нет холодильника, посуды. Было ощущение, что по всем параметрам, несмотря на стильный вид и прикольные завтраки, соотношение цена-качество неоправдано.

L’accueil très chaleureux, l’équipe pédagogique est aux petits soins pendant tout le séjour. Les chambres sont très propres et le restaurant est excellent. Frais et très bien cuisiné

This has got to be my most fav place in Sri Lanka. The staff was amazing and Mendis who was the surf instructor was not only a good teacher but an incredible human. It was my 1st time and he was so patient with me. And their breakfasts was 1 of the best I've had in my life.

The staff was super helpful and the complimentary breakfast was to die for!

Amazing surf camp in Weligama, the food at the restaurant was just incredible! I liked that you could book surf sessions at the reception just really easily and the staff was very nice. The rooms were great and spacious. Overall a 10 out of 10!

The camp is nice but I suggest split on the double rooms. The dorms aren’t all that amazing.

The dorm are shabby… especially the bathroom was a bit disappointing especially at the price point. We wanted to upgrade on the spot but there was no space.

Food here is amazing, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are comfortable and tastefully decorated.

It has much more of a backpacker vibe than previously and there's the weekly DJ night so if you are travelling for peace and quiet and serenity you might prefer somewhere else.

The staff were so incredibly helpful, especially the main manager in the restaurant and the surf instructor! Very clean accommodation with an amazing view.

I had an amazing stay at this surf hotel! The location is unbeatable, just a stone's throw away from the beach, which is perfect for anyone looking to learn how to surf. The waves are gentle, making it an ideal spot for beginners. The room was not only beautiful but also very clean and comfortable. The staff was incredibly friendly and always ready to help with anything I needed, which made my stay even more enjoyable. The restaurant served delicious food – every meal I had was fantastic, and the atmosphere was very laid-back and welcoming. Highly recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy great food, comfort, and of course, perfect surf conditions!

AMAZING! We loved our stay at Lucky’s so much that we came back a second time on our trip to stay some more. The location is unreal, steps from the beach. The breakfast is soooo delicious. The staff are super friendly and the room is so big and clean. I’ll be coming back next year!

The location is very nice, close to the beach and in a quiet street. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

There is a sort of Tuktuk Mafia as long as you get on the main street, no chances to use PickMe as other tuktuk drivers would tell other PickMe drivers to leave. And for this reason, you need to pay 2x or 3X the price of a ride booked via PickMe. Something to address as there is a clear setup of drivers taking “ownership” of the street.

After surf cafe at the roof top is the best Accessibility to surfing lessons

The floor mats outside room and bathroom didn’t seem the kind of material that is rewashed for each stay, so we didn’t use it much to clean / dry our feet which was not ideal due to the sand.

Our stay was really nice and the Staff was really Friendly and helpful. specially Sanju, who was super helpful and Kind. Cozy and clean rooms. Excellent food and gorgeous views and we can’t wait to come back!!

Everything was spot on. A friendly welcome, great rooms and a really good restaurant on the roof with a fine view of the surf. Would totally recommend it if you fancy a bit of local surfing and being well looked-after.

We felt really comfortable at Lucky's surf camp. The accommodation is right on the surf beach. The rooftop bar overlooking the sea serves the most delicious breakfast as well as wonderful snacks and cocktails. The entire staff was warm and friendly. We received support with all our activities. Airport transportation was also organized for us (even we had to start in the middle of the night). We were completely satisfied and can only recommend Luckys! Thank you for a great stay with you!

Lucky’s was super close to the beach and main attractions of Weligama. The bed was very comfortable, and great bathroom.

Perfect place to explore the amazing coastline of Sri Lanka whilst perfecting your surf technique! 5 minute walk from the beach, great surf lessons, amazing food, chilled atmosphere thats good for working. The staff are welcoming and always happy to help no matter the request. 10/10

The hotel is new and well cared, the staff is nice and helps you. The room is the same as in the pictures, new and beaitufil very well decorated. The bed is very comfortable .

if you get the room on the ground floor, there are dogs fighting all the time during the night and you can hear everything. The restaurant is expensive and doesnt give any discoutns for customers.

Such a nice easy spot to stay. Rooms are clean and comfortable with shampoo and body wash provided. The restaurant upstairs had friendly staff and delicious food. Easy and close to the beach with good waves for beginners or paddle out a bit more for more experienced surfers (not the best as super crowded but great for beginners).

We had a great stay at Lucky‘s Surf Camp. We liked it so much, that we even came back to the hotel for our last night in Sri Lanka. The team, the vibe, the food - everything his great!

I loved the location: tucked away from busy streets, but walking distance to shops and cafes. Lovely spacious and clean room, simple yet having all that's needed for comfortable stay. The staff both at the hotel and cafe goes above and beyond to help with any question or special request. The breakfast was definitely a highlight: the best I've had in Sri Lanka with real cappuccino, sourdough bread and poached eggs included which is normally only available in luxurious hotels. I took 2 lessons with Mendi and Yasas, both instructors were great and I was able to stand on board on first lesson! Sunset yoga with Hanna was amazing. Would definitely stay again.

A little fridge in the room would be nice to have.

Restaurant at roof top too crowded because of awesome, super delicious food) it will be luck to get free table. Also if you live at 3 floor (under the restaurant) it will be pretty noisy until it closes.

Friendliest people we’ve met, everyone was very helpful and kind. The hotel is in the perfect location for to get onto the beach, and also for restaurants and cafes nearby. The food is superb, and we had lunch there a couple days which was just as good. The surf instructors are also amazing, we did 4 lessons and improved massively!

The hotel is located a few walks from the beach where the best waves for beginners are. Breakfast was so good, really exceptional.

The room was simple, the shower doesn't have a cabin, so everything splashes onto the toilet and sink. The rooms have poor soundproofing, you are on third floor, you’ll hear what’s going on roof top cafe.

We had an amazing time staying at Lucky’s - wish we’d stayed longer than 3 nights! This is truly a special place. Food at the rooftop bar (After Surf) was delicious and staff were absolutely brilliant. Big shout out for Yasas for the surf sessions every morning during our stay - what an asset to the team & all round great guy. We will tell all our friends about Lucky’s - highly recommend.

Great Stay with Outstanding Service and Amazing Rooftop Restaurant! I had a wonderful stay at this surf accommodation in Weligama. The rooms were simple but clean and perfectly fine for a surf trip. While they are not 5-star, they were comfortable and had everything I needed. The real highlight of the stay was the rooftop restaurant—an absolute gem! The atmosphere was fantastic, and the food was delicious. A big thank you to Meneke, who was very attentive and incredibly kind, making every meal even more enjoyable. The service overall was excellent, and I also want to mention Kavindu at the reception. He was exceptionally friendly, always helpful, and made us feel truly welcome with his warm smile. The dorms were not cleaned during our stay, the bathrooms did not contain any soap or shower gel which ist not acceptable for the price. I think the private rooms are way prettier but the dorms were not worth the money. Also there was no social room to get to know other people, so the whole surfcamp vibe is not vibing

Really enjoyed our stay at Lucky’s and how easy it was to rent surfboards or have a drink at the upstairs cafe/restaurant. Everything (ocean and restaurants in Welligama itself) was so easy to access. The front desk was really helpful, signing us up for surf lessons and helping us with early transport where needed.

The location near the beach is nice, it is easy to walk to the beach and restaurants, and the hotel is very clean. The bed was super comfortable and the breakfast is delicious, with a spectacular view on the sea.

The room on the ground floor had no view at all, and it is quite dark since it is difficult to open the curtains when we don't want other people to look inside. Bed lamps would be really helpful. Since the room was on the ground floor, it gets quite noisy as we can hear people passing by, especially in the evenings. The price is quite expensive for the quality.

The location of the hotel is great, is pretty new so all the facilities and rooms look clean and fresh. The breakfast included in the price of the booking was amazing. The staff was super friendly and accommodating, you can take a surfboard without any extra charges for a morning or afternoon surf. The food overall their rooftop cafe was top quality.

We absolutely loved everything about Lucky's Surf Camp! The staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful. The food was not only delicious but was made even more enjoyable with the stunning beach views. Our room was clean and simple, providing a comfortable stay. We ended up returning three times—whether to rent a board, take a yoga class, or indulge in their divine breakfast. We can't wait for our next visit!

We really enjoyed our three-night stay at Lucky’s. Some highlights included: - Staff: The staff were friendly and responsive. They were able to organise surf lessons for us and quickly answered any queries we have. - Cafe: The After Surf Cafe upstairs served great drinks and dinner (shout out to the fish tacos!). The free breakfast was decent and they were able to accommodate dietary requirements. - Location: The property is a short walk from the beach and beginner surf spot. It is a 10-15 minute walk from the best cafes/restaurants in Weligama.

- For the price, the room is relatively basic. It was still very comfortable though!

The room was clean, big comfortable bed. However doesn’t look like the pictures, the pictures are just one corner of the room. The shower was just a shower head in the middle off the bathroom, so if you showered the whole bathroom would be wet. The bar upstairs was great, great food. But if your room was below it, you’re not getting silence till after 11pm.

Definitely NOT worth $90 a night, it was a glamorous hostel at the most.

Very overpriced for what it is, double rooms with ocean view are right underneath the restaurant which causes enormous nois from 7:30am-10pm plus you hear the water pump running every time someone in the hotel uses water (even at night), swing of AC was not adjustable (right towards bed), ‘included breakfast’ is just a selection of 6 meals from the normal menu, room should be more furnished (not a single plant, no storage option in bathroom, only one little picture on the wall)

The staff treats locals the same way that they treat foreign tourists. Which is really pleasant
