Location is perfect in the island. Beautiful natural surroundings and quietness. I had the most perfect yoga course on the rooftop watching giant bats flying home at dawn :) I was upgraded to the family room when I mentioned that my son would join me - such a nice attention.

Ci ha aiutati in qualunque richiesta e quando ci siamo trovati in difficoltá per via dell’arrivo in tarda serata senza cena, si è attivato personalmente accompagnandoci a cenare e fermandosi con noi!!! Kala, la nostra ospite, è di una gentilezza straordinaria e la sua calorosa ospitalità ci ha fatto sentire subito come a casa. Si assicura che tutto sia perfetto e organizza splendide gite in barca lungo i canali, oltre ad altre attività come passeggiate in bicicletta, noleggio di scooter e kayak, che permettono di scoprire l’isola e i suoi dintorni in tanti modi diversi. Beautiful and quiet homestay in the middle of the nature. The room was very big and clean, for a very affordable price, and the owner and her son were extremely considerate and helpful. Another added bonus was the massive amount of food for the breakfast and evening meals, always super tasty. Had an amazing time overall and would highly recommend it to everyone else!

Kailasam Home Stay is such a peaceful and calm place with a wonderful host family. Set on a quiet road with beautiful greenery surrounding it felt like a place you could really relax and enjoy. I had a lovely and spacious room and a really comfortable bed. It was cool enough with a fan which I prefer. The breakfasts and dinner were always super delicious and cooked with love. I looked forward to seeing what treats would be served. I felt I could really relax there. Akhil and his family were so welcoming, helpful and gave great advice. It was lovely to be in their company. I would 100% recommend this as a place to stay and would love to return when I’m back in India. This has definitely been a highlight for me in my travels and I’m grateful to have found the Homestay. The family are very invested in making sure guests are comfortable and well looked after. They are very helpful with information. The room and bathroom Is spacious and clean.

There were some communication issues, and small hiccups, such as no top sheet/blanket provided (I was very cold overnight), breakfast served a bit late on first day and strange coffee, miscommunication about extending stay. They don't have bikes for hire, and the location is a bit awkward. They organised a pleasant canoe ride but with a driver who didn't speak a word of English. I ordered a home cooked dinner which was tasty but so much food, and I felt very guilty for not eating. No matter how much I said it was just quantity, not taste, they seemed quite upset.

5 years after my last visit, the family has grown, Akhil has now a wonderful wife and baby son, the Homestay as well with 2 additionnal rooms, and still the same kindness, still the same attention and care, the same hospitality, the same peace and quiet, and the same beautiful healthy food cooked with love by Kala. This has been the most memorable place I have been in Kerala! The rooms are New and Spacious They arranged each and every thing for us. They are very kind and hospitable. They arranged morning boat trips for us which was simply amazing! They gave us all the information need for exploring the island. They gave us bycycles to ride around the island. We also had a great time attending the Cooking class with Kala! She cooks amazing food and the taste is devine!! One for all the food lovers for sure! All in all a must visit!

It was a little hot.

I was immediately made welcome and the family did everything to make my stay comfortable. I eat both breakfast and dinner in the family home. Dinner was great and so much of it ! (I was jokingly berated for not eating more 😄) The room/bathroom were both clean and spacious. A bicycle was made available for exploring the local area. Local activities ie boating were effortlessly arranged for me.

My only disappointment was due to building work to extend the Homestay it made my stay a little noisy and dusty. The work is due to be finished mid January. Also the room I stayed in unfortunately air con was not available.

I strongly believe that it’s the people we meet on trips that can make or break an experience. While looking for homestays, I read the reviews online and booked Akhil's place. And I am so so glad I chose Kailasam homestay. I loved talking to Aunty about everything around, and hearing all her stories. I loved her food and the warmth with which she served it each time. I think I have a newfound appreciation for Kerala food now. Akhil offering to pick me up from the station and staying awake early in the morning to drop me at the boating point for the boating because I didn't know the way- that was so unexpected. He didn’t have to do that, but he did. Things like these made my stay so special. Thank you so much. I had a really good time here and I headed back with a lot of memories. I will definitely come back here one day and bring more people with me. Your hospitality will stay with me forever. THANK YOU :)

In this place Kala and her family welcomes you with so much kindness that you will never want to leave this island. This little paradise surrounded by nature, is very well placed to get access to the backwaters. Kala also makes you discover the treasures of her garden and the taste of Kerala's kitchen. We had such a lovely stay at Kailasam! Munroe Island is very quiet and non-touristy which we loved. The room was comfortable and very clean. Akhil helped us with trains and organising a boat trip which the highlight for us! Kala’s cooking was fantastic and we ate breakfast and dinner there both days. We also enjoyed sitting out on the veranda in the garden. We really recommend this stay for a quiet and relaxing Keralan experience!

Kailasam homestay was the perfect escape into Munroe Island's paradise. The hosts food was absolutely exceptional, and she and her son went above and beyond helping us with whatever we needed. We've recommended this place to everyone we've spoken to about Munroe Island.

Picking at straws... AC/a ceiling fan would have been a nice option as the room did get quite hot, although there were two standing fans to compensate. Plus cotton sheets rather than synthetic sheets on the bed would have also helped with the rooms heat. Don't let that deter as otherwise, it was absolutely perfect :)

Kala and her Akhil were very nice, welcoming and accommodating. The home cooked was very good and tasty. The room was big, the bed was confortable and they also lend us some bikes and scooters to ride around the island. They also arranged a boat tour and taxis ! Perfect stay in this nice family, they made sure we felt at home.

Definitely the best Guest House during our 30 days in Kerala . The family welcome is perfect, personalized, while remaining discreet. The guesthouse is in an excellent condition just steps from the canals. The place is quiet. The guesthouse is really good for conversations with family and other travelers. ***Food is Just Yum!!!*** The breakfasts and dinners were something we kept wanting more of even if our tummy was full!! The room was big enough for 2 adults and is clean and spotless! Akhil, arranged us canoe tour, kayaking and also Ayurvedic Massages, whatever we asked for was arranged!! A must visit for sure!!!

Absolutely awesome place to visit, beautiful cozy cottage. Amazing home made food and great views. Would come back any time. So peaceful that you can hear nature singing all the time. There are few places to explore around especially S curve view point. It has spectacular view of the lake and valleys around.

Hospitable, helpful and friendly hosts, amazing meals, amicable dogs, free cycles, clean rooms with basic amenities. Helped with planning the activities in and around, picked us up and dropped us back from Railway station, arranged a guy for canoeing and guided him to plan as per our request. Don't think second if this is available, the entire family's hospitality will blow you away. Thank you Dundu and Spark for our best time in Kerala. Will be visiting back with more food and love.

Just immediately I left they cancelled my booking and updated it as no show. and I don’t have proof to say that I stayed there. I badly needed it for my records and they aren’t responding to representatives of booking.com. This is wrong practice. which I never experienced with any of my bookings till now

Akhil and his mom are fantastic hosts, we felt at home immediately. The breakfast and dinner was so great, we loved it. Everything worked smooth as they are super helpful to arrange canoe trips, scooti and more for us. We’ve stayed 2 nights and it was the best stay in Kerala.

They arranged each and every need of mine, from delicious food, motorbike, canoeing, ayurvedic massages etc. I can guarantee that no-one goes empty stomach from here, the food is that delicious!! Everything was perfect. Kailasam is just wonderful, she made everything she could for us to feel perfect. She's way to generous with the awesome food she's cooking (by the way, there is no kitchen you can use, she is the one making the food for dinner if you like, it was delicious really). We definitely will go back there and recommend this place. It's just one room so you won't meet people other than the family and dogs, which was totally enough for us <3 We loved it !!!
