Balestrand Hotel

Very nice, comfortable. It’s right in the center of town which is pretty small. The view was awesome. The rooms are small but comfortable. The facilities are clean.

We have nothing negative to say. Wish we stayed 2 nights instead of just 1 night

Way too expensive: The room was outdated, no breakfast ( only brewed coffee and a croissant), you need to pay extra to get an espresso drink in the morning

It was very conveniently located and the staff were lovely! Beautiful setting overlooking the fjord.

Only packets of shampoo were provided, oh, and earplugs. Ha

There was no convenient way (such as a ramp) to bring up wheeled suitcases; the same entrance used by cars had to be used.

The view was awesome. We were lucky that the weather was cool since it kept people from hanging out at the bar out front and making noise which has been a common complaint.

The room was pretty spartan for the price.

Location

The whole bathroom. Didn’t like shampoo in packets you had to open. The shower with just a plastic shower curtain so the whole bathroom floor is wet and no ventilation. For what we paid I would expect something much better.

Location was perfect! The room facing the fjord was great. Good shower. Amazing staff and delicious croissant. The sauna was a great experience. Another plus for the hotel: the art around it!!!! Loved that they change the art frequently , it makes the place even more special

The walls are paper thin and I could hear my neighbours too well.

The sea view from our room was mesmerizing. We don’t usually spend much time in the room, but really enjoyed sitting on the balcony in between our walks and before and after the day actions. It’s totally worth it getting to sea view! The hotel had a wonderful vibe with pleasant, friendly, and very efficient staff. Everything was orderly and taken care of immediately. The coffee and croissants offered in the morning were well appreciated, and being able to hang out in the lobby and play games or just watch the gorgeous fjord was wonderful.

We were able to manage it, but the shower will flood the bathroom if you don’t take precautions, for example, only keeping the water on half pressure and really being careful about containing your shower area

The location is great with an amazing view on the fjords. Parking available in front of the property. The staff was very nice and helpful. They could help dry our shoes after a rainy hike.

Super fun vibe, guests were playing games, ordering drinks and generally enjoying the evening together. View of the fjord is exceptional for breakfast and evening! Staff was very friendly and genuinely happy to have guests coming in.

Desde nuestro balcón tuvimos una vista preciosa sobre el fjordo, y hasta salió el sol! Las camas son blandas pero cómodas, el baño correcto. Nos gustó mucho el detalle del café con croissant gratuito por la mañana.

Nice location. Rooms are clean and retro style. Nice sea view. Hotel is Refurbished to be bright and colorful with art. They offer different amenities to enjoy like the sauna, water inflatables, croquet mallets and badminton rackets, a billiards table. They recommend you to local dining establishments for dinner as there are not a lot of food options in the area.

Breakfast is simple croissants butter and coffee. Could have appreciated some eggs. In the evening Bar only serves drinks and some packaged snacks would have appreciated some more choices like pasta and fries etc. Bathroom shower doesn’t have a floor divider from the toilet so floor gets wet after showering and you use the rubber squeegee to mop it up. I wished they offered more space for the luggage and not just 1 luggage rack for two people.

Hele gezellige sfeer! Het personeel is enorm vriendelijk en de lobby met veel tafeltjes, spellen, pool biljart en lekkere drankjes was ideaal om ook bij slecht weer te ontspannen!

L’ambiance est super et la localisation aussi. Le hall ressemble un peu à un tiers-lieu, la salle de jeu est très conviviale. Pour avoir un petit déjeuner complet, il faut aller dans un hôtel partenaire, mais le Balestrand offre des croissants et du café à ses résidents tous les matins. Le personnel est particulièrement adorable

Les équipements sont un peu vieillot. Ça se ressent un peu partout. La chambre que nous occupions était assez petite, peut-être parce que quelqu’un avait laissé un lit bébé !

Perfect location, staff hospitality, fantastic fjord view from the window and balcony.

We fell in love with this hotel’s seaside view, eclectic decor and community vibe. This hotel felt connected to Balestrand’s unique community in a way most hotels don’t. An easy walk from the ferry. Our room was basic but exceptionally clean, with comfortable beds, bedding, chairs, strong and stable WiFi, quirky local artwork, a balcony with two chairs plus table and an incredible view (upgrading to a sea view was worth every penny). Our bathroom was older looking but functional and very clean. The hotel provided body wash, packets of shampoo, hairdryer, earplugs (it’s an older building so rooms aren’t completely silent but we didn’t find it disruptive), two glasses, lots of shelving above the toilet, and a wardrobe. Bring conditioner, lotion, and an eye mask if you need to sleep in a dark room in summer months. No kettle, coffee maker (coffee is available in the lobby), or TV in room. Friendly and helpful hotel staff. There’s a private beach, sauna, parking, bar in the lobby, games, a pool table, indoor and outdoor seating, hammock, a small lending library by the hotel’s back door and a few kids toys, older but working elevator, and fresh croissants, coffee, jam, and butter in the morning. A partial voucher for breakfast at a neighboring hotel was offered at check in. We absolutely loved our stay here, it was a highlight of our Norway vacation, and we really want to go back to spend more time there. If you’re looking for a traditional generic hotel experience then this isn’t the hotel for you, but if you like a clean, comfortable, friendly, small-town hotel with a unique community vibe and incredible views then check this place out.

Nothing really. There wasn’t an option to book a time for the sauna at check in, the sauna website is only in Norwegian which makes booking tricker. No conditioner or washcloth, but those don’t seem to be commonly provided in Norwegian hotels overall. There’s no hotel or local souvenir merch available for sale in the lobby, something simple like postcards would be nice.

Es gab keinen guten Duschvorhang. Der Boden war im ganzen Badezimmer nass nach dem Duschen. Komische Bilder oder Wanddekos.

Totalement fan de cet hôtel ! On a tout aimé. L’emplacement tout d’abord, au bord du Fjord avec le calme et la sérénité qui va avec. Mes équipements de l’hôtel, l’amabilité de l’équipe, le confort de la chambre. Le petit déjeuner, simple mais excellent.

Rooms are a bit dated but hotel was clean and comfortable. We had a room in the back so can’t comment if the noise from the bar area was loud at night (couldn’t hear anything from our room). Easy parking. Quick walk into town for dinner. Gorgeous location overlooking the fjord.

The staff were exceptional - very welcoming, able to help (there was a problem with our room lock) and chatty. The sauna was good and a good way to meet other guests. We loved the informal atmosphere in the reception/bar. And the location on the fjord is amazing - great views from our room. Complimentary croissants and coffee in the morning was nice. It's a short walk from the quay and well located for walks in the woods and visiting the nearby Ciderhuset
