We had an amazing stay at Splendour Residence. Words can't describe how great we felt during our stay. When we arrived the magic has started. The smiling owners were waiting for us with a freshly prepared exotic juice and wide smiles on their faces. Checking was so friendly, the staffs helped us with our suitcases, and then the room has been showed to us. What an beautiful surprise... We got a free upgrade to the beautiful apartment with two bedrooms and the sensational lake view. The bed was so comfortable giving us a beautiful sleep, the bathroom was so specious like the whole apartment. The high ceilings, A/C, huge terrace, everything helped us to feel safe and relaxed. The room had everything what was promised to the offer. When we left the room to eat something we realised that our magic stay has just begun! The food prepared by the professional chef was "wow!!!". So tasty, fresh with European, Indian and Sri Lankan dishes. All workers were smiling and caring for our enjoyment at the restaurant. When we felt that our stay couldn't be better. The owner of the hotel decided to talk with us. Such an amazing man! The owner of the hotel showed us the local attractions, organised a private boat safari which we started straight from the hotel! Yes, the boat was waiting for us just after the breakfast.... Amazing experience!!! No it's not everything... When our day of checkout has come the owner asked us where we were going next and then offered us a lift to the next hotel... Omg!!! From the first to the last moment of our stay everything was sooooo PERFECT!!!! THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH FOR MAKING US HAPPY BY GIVING US THE BEST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! nous avons profité d'une grande chambre familiale dans cet hôtel, terrasse avec une magnifique vue sur les mangroves, fabuleux ! (suite utilisée à 4 personnes : deux chambres, un lit double + un lit simple + un lit d'appoint qui nous a gracieusement mis à disposition) le personnel est aux petits soins, la cuisine est bonne, la chambre confortable. nous avons eu besoin de prendre un petit déjeuner bien après l'heure théorique maximale, tout à été fait pour que nous soyons satisfaits et servis généreusement, sans aucun supplément. piscine très agréable dans un cadre verdoyant. possibilité de prendre les repas en terrasse avec vue sur le lac et les mangroves

franchement, pas grand chose... seule difficulté : la route d'accès un peu juste à la fin vu le gabarit de notre minibus, mais avec l'aide du personnel de l'hôtel tout s'est finalement bien passé.

Eine Ruhe Oase abseits vom Tourismus. Die Unterkunft ist atemberaubend schön-vor allem die Mitarbeiter machen die Unterkunft zu etwas ganz besonderem. Das jeden Tag frisch zubereitete Essen war eine 12/10!!!

Dit is een geweldig 5* hotel met een adembenemend uitzicht over de lake. De hosts en werknemers zijn fantastisch en hebben ons goed verzorgd. Zij staan altijd voor je klaar en de host heeft ook een prive boot trip voor ons geregeld voor een goede prijs. De kamer is super groot en schoon. Het is de ideale plek om tot rust te komen. Wij komen zeker terug!

Мы с мужем провели 2 недели в гостях у Нирошана и Лакшми. Все правда, что показано на фото и написано в предыдущих отзывах - это рай: и закаты, и озеро, и та забота, которой каждую минуту окутывает вас персонал. Отелю 3 года, дизайнерский ремонт, огромные номера, чудесный тенистый бассейн, прекрасная веранда в зарослях деревьев с видом на воду. Как только вы спуститесь с дороги на ресепшен (дада, отель построен на горе, и чтобы попасть внутрь нужно спуститься вниз) - вы сразу попадете в другой мир. Хочу отметить, что вы покупаете только bed and breakfast, но фактически получаете решение всех возможных запросов экспата в чужой стране - поменять деньги, арендовать транспорт, получить любое блюдо по запросу, выбрать экскурсию, купить любые товары по лучшим ценам и качеству, решить вопросы со страховой или тур оператором - Нирошан поможет вам с любой просьбой. На любом языке, в любое время суток, любая ваша проблема сразу становится общей - это бесценно! Также имейте в виду, что он 15 лет работал на кухнях лучших отелей страны, другого такого повара вы не найдете поблизости. Лакшми своей красотой и дружелюбием также скрасит ваш отпуск, а также окутает теплом - они невероятно сердечные люди, и энергетика этого месте вас точно покорит. В отеле 7 номеров, но в нем постоянно присутствует человек 6-7-8 человек персонала - все они чудеснейшие добрые люди, которые ежеминутно работают над вашим комфортом. Ближайший к отелю пляж - самый лучший на западном побережье, мы арендовали машину на весь срок и объехали полстраны - в декабре-январе это лучшее место для купания - безлюдное и не слишком бурливое море с красивыми камнями для лучших фото. Также у порога очень колоритный буддийский храм. На повороте с основной улицы есть 2 винных магазина (алкоголь на острове продают только государственные магазины с закрепленными ценами - они выглядят странно, вы не пропустите). Налево на первом перекрестке - большой по местным меркам супермаркет, фруктовый и рыбный рынок.

Мне понравилось ВСЕ и я очень хочу вернуться, но для полноты картины хочу упомянуть некоторые нюансы. Нужно понимать, что отель расположен на озере в джунглях, пешком там никуда не дойти. Нужен байк или автомобиль (арендовать лучше на месте), можно пользоваться тук туками. Дорога асфальтированная, но со множеством поворотов, очень узкая, навигатор ведет неверно, мы за 2 недели еле запомнили этот путь. До моря ехать 15 мин, тук тук 200 руб берет. Это НЕ туристический район, тут нет массажей, магазинов одежды, выбора ресторанов, маникюра и вообще любых сервисов поблизости. Приватность здесь 100%, ночью тишина - лают собачки и летают светлячки, других отелей рядом нет, но есть парочка вилл, которые сдаются в аренду и там могут быть шумные компании. Завтраки прекрасные и обильные, но без выбора. Всегда будут яйца на ваш вкус, хлопья, йогурт, фрукты, оладушки с маслом и джемом.

Знакомство с Шри Ланкой началось с данного отелья!Отличный отель! Дизайн, архитектура, ландшафт продуман до мелочей! Уютный небольшой отель! Большие номера, шикарные завтраки! И главное -это хозяева и персонал. Выше всех похвал! Чуткие, внимательные к постояльцам. Ресторан со вечными блюдами! Мы по окончанию отпуска вернулись на последний день в данный отель. Хотелось зафиналить наш трип в красивом и приятном месте!

The hotel stay was very comfortable and relaxing, with clean rooms and friendly staff who made check-in easy. The amenities were well maintained, and the location was convenient for exploring nearby attractions. The food was extremely good made fresh for each meal. There was nothing we did not like and we will be visiting again soon!

It’s a real gem of a place, where nature meets comfort. We loved our room and the spectacular views it offered over the lake. It’s a family run small hotel and the owners as well as the staff go out of their way to make you have a unforgettable experience. The food was home cooked and delicious and the pool simply stunning.

It’s a little out of the way, so not ideal for longer walks and away from the beach, but this matters not. It is so easy and cheap to get a tuktuk or transport which only took 10-15 mins to get to the local beach or nearby small town.

We had an exceptional stay at Splendor Residence and can only give our highest recommendation. The rooms are very spacious, spotlessly clean and beautifully designed. Everything feels stylish and well thought out. We especially loved the large balcony, the fridge, the very comfortable soft bed, and the reliable Wi-Fi. A true highlight was the bathroom – absolutely stunning. The best shower we’ve had in Sri Lanka, honestly better than many showers back home in Germany. The rooms are simply excellent. The location is idyllic and peaceful, hidden in the forest next to a beautiful lake. It’s incredibly quiet, surrounded by nature, and you can spot many animals and birds. We did a boat tour on the lake to the islands, which was fantastic – lots of birds and a truly special atmosphere. A very special mention goes to Niroshan, the host and owner. He is the best host you could possibly imagine. You immediately feel that this place is his life’s project. He built everything piece by piece, on his own, with incredible passion, attention to detail and heart – and it truly shows in every corner of the property. Together with his wife, they were always kind, attentive, warm and genuinely caring. Every wish was fulfilled without hesitation. This was one of the best services we’ve ever experienced anywhere. And then the food… absolutely outstanding. Niroshan cooks himself, and you can clearly tell that he is a professionally trained chef. Every dish was perfectly seasoned, incredibly tasty and full of flavor – we never had to add anything. The Rice & Curry was phenomenal, easily one of the best we had in Sri Lanka. We also spent New Year’s Eve here, with a wonderful special menu and a lovely program with artists – it was a truly memorable and beautiful evening. The pool was perfectly clean, and swimming there every morning was a joy. Price–performance is excellent, there are honestly no points of criticism, no suggestions for improvement – everything was spot on.

The view is amazing, overlooking the Lake with panoramic view, the staff were amazing, the hotel owner himself welcomed us, the team is so helpful and the breakfast was delicious, it's definitely the best value for money hotel I've been to.

The location is perfect as of the lake but nothing is around the hotel, it's not the easiest thing to reach the hotel

Sehr sehr schöne Unterkunft! Tolle Gastgeber, sehr saubere Zimmer, wunderschöne Aussicht. Alles top! Niroshan und seine Frau sind wunderbare Gastgeber und wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen! Das Essen vor Ort ist wunderbar, frisch und super lecker.

موقع الفندق ممتاز للاسترخاء والاستجمام، والطبيعة المحيطة جميلة. كما أن معاملة الموظفين كانت ممتازة جدًا، ودودين ومتعاونين وهذا يُحسب لهم. لكن للأسف، نظافة الغرفة كانت سيئة، حيث وُجدت حشرات داخل الغرفة، ومع مرور الأيام زاد عددها، مما سبب إزعاجًا وعدم راحة أثناء الإقامة. منطقة الفندق هادئة جدًا، لكن في الليل تشعر بعدم الأمان، فالشارع مظلم ولا تتوفر أي خدمات قريبة من الفندق. هناك ملاحظة مهمة أيضًا، وهي صعوبة التواصل مع الاستقبال في وقت متأخر من الليل، حيث يكون الموظفون نائمين، ولا يوجد أحد في الاستقبال، كما لا يوجد هاتف داخل الغرفة للتواصل معهم عند الحاجة. إضافة إلى ذلك، أثناء هطول أمطار غزيرة، انقطعت الكهرباء مرتين، وهذا أمر مستغرب في فندق مصنف خمس نجوم، وكانت هذه أول مرة أواجه فيها انقطاع كهرباء في فندق بهذا المستوى. بشكل عام، الفندق لديه إمكانيات جيدة من حيث الموقع والموظفين، لكنه يحتاج إلى تحسين كبير في النظافة، مستوى الأمان، وتوفير الخدمات الأساسية

We had an Amazing experience in Splendour Residence. The room was huge and comfortable the staff was amazing - great meals, tours, just overall they took care to any of any of our requests. They even have a free tuk tuk to drive you to the near town and back Great shower with hot water all day long. Best view from a hotel room that we had!

Our experience at Splendour Residence was nothing short of exceptional. They went above and beyond to make our stay truly memorable, showing genuine care and attention to every detail. The food deserves special mention : was consistently delicious, fresh - giving us a real taste of Sri Lankan hospitality. Beyond the comfort of the residence, we were delighted by the activities offered. Renting a bike allowed us to explore the local surrondings at a relaxed pace, while the boat tour gave us a uniquie perspective of the lake's natural beauty. We highly recommend staying here to anyone visiting Sri Lanka.

Le cadre est idyllique, la chambre très spacieuse et luxueuse et la nourriture délicieuse... Meilleur Rice and Curry que nous avons mangé au Sri Lanka. Très disponibles, ils ont su nous organiser un Safari sur le lac en dernière minute avec un très bon guide et à un tarif intéressant. Nous recommandons+++++

1. Hospitality by Niroshan and his wife was top class. They have 2 team members who are super efficient and will fix everything immediately. 2. The food was fantastic. especially the srilankan food. 3. I developed knee pain, Niroshan himself came and gave me a balm. Realised later that he never charged me. 4. Each room has a large balcony facing the beautiful lake. It's a treat. 5. The rooms are very well maintained. including the bathroom. Which is very clean. 6. Massage was arranged, with complementary coconut water. It was very good made me and wife more relaxed. 7. Surrounded with greenery everywhere. With a lot of birds and living insects ... which is nature at its best around you.

Can't say anything as what we did not like. Be prepared for nature around you with ants, spiders, etc. Please ask for assistance. The team will take care if you come from a place not used to seeing all this. Nature is not disturbed around you with a lot of greenery. I enjoyed it!

Everything was perfect! The host with his family and staff was so kind to us and went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. We only stayed for 2 nights but would have liked to stay a little longer. The swimming pool was clean and a nice temperature, the food was delicious and made with love. The view on the lake was so beautiful. This was the best room we got during our 28 days stay in Sri Lanka. It was very clean, the shower was good and it was nicely designed. Extra compliments for the owner, the family and the staff! They were smiling all the time. We can't thank them enough for our experience

Every element of the experience at Splendour was exceptional from the classy modern design, the contemporary nature-themed artwork to the stunning setting with beautiful views of the lake. The owners are very special people who dedicate themselves to making your stay the best it can be. The hotel is spotlessly clean. The food of all cuisines was of a high quality particularly the Sri Lankan food. All of the local activities were organised for us. It is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the serenity. But the real treat here is the hospitality extended by the owners and staff. Nothing was ever too much trouble and our needs were often anticipated. We feel very fortunate to have stayed here with memories that will last a lifetime. A unique experience of Sri Lanka that should not to be missed. 11/10!

We arrived here in the night and in the middle of the only storm we experienced in our fortnight in Sri Lanka. This is a very special family run place in the most formidable grand design style building with stunning architecture. Waking up to Sri Lanka with this view was an unforgettable experience. The room was vast. The warmth of the family was palpable. We were coming from a business trip so I left a suitcase here for two weeks. They checked in with me regularly and I knew my things were totally safe. Thank you for such a special introduction to a very special trip :)

Everything was perfect.

We’ve been visiting Sri Lanka with our family for many years, but very few places have impressed us as much as Splendour Residence. Sure, there might be some minor imperfections here and there – but they’re completely outweighed by how smoothly everything runs and how exceptional the guest care is. The staff is absolutely fantastic – from the owner to every single member of the team. Everyone is kind, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. Our little daughter received such lovely attention and care, and it made the whole stay even more special for us. The food was excellent, and the surroundings – both indoor and outdoor – were beautiful. There is a clear emphasis on space and comfort throughout the property, which we truly appreciated. The entire hotel feels well-thought-out, peaceful, and harmonious. I sometimes give a 10/10 rating on Booking, even when a place has a few flaws that are balanced by other strengths. But Splendour Residence deserves more than just a perfect score. If I could rate it higher, I absolutely would. We even changed our travel plans just to stay a little longer – that’s how much we loved it here. And if we ever return to Sri Lanka, there’s no doubt – we’ll be coming back here.

Absolutely spectacular views over Madu Lake and utterly peaceful. It’s a modern and very spacious design which sits inconspicuously in the landscape. The owners are so lovely and our Sri Lankan curry was the best we had in our month in Sri Lanka.

Beautiful artistic building (inside and outside) in a even more beautiful scenery looking out over the lake. Turned out that the owner is also chef, and a great one. The food, the service, the views, the pool, the terrace, the rooms and all the personal artwork scattered around the hotel is amazing. Don't hesitate, book this place. You will love it.

Google maps sent us the wrong way, but luckily there was a sign on the road how to get there.

Amazing service, fantastic 180 degres view from our room over the lake and small Islands, birdlife & monkeys in treetops while enjoying lovely breakfast on the platform in the tree top. Wow

One of the best places that we stayed as a Family of 3. Amazing views from the room. Huge Bathroom. Owners are very kind and very simple truly amazing people. Need to mentioned also about Rice and curry that we had for our Lunch was out of this world, and the shrimps that we had for our dinner one of the best shrimp with garlic that we ever had.

Fruits served at the breakfast was not good at all and the juice as well. Other than that Nothing else.

Only issue for us was the aircon being too loud for us to sleep, but the room being too warm for it to be off.

The place is absolutely outstanding! They are very helpful and also that I spent only one night there, they were carrying very much for me! For the breakfast they asked me, what I wanted it was very generous and excellent. The rooms are very big, well equipped and very very clean! I met also the owner and his family, which told me about the story of the hotel … but this I’ll not tell you, go to visit it

Food and hospitality were excellent. The top floor room was spacious with amazing views over the lake.

There was loud music for long periods on 2 separate days from a neighbouring property, and noise throughout one night from another property. There was a problem with excessive flys around food at breakfast and around the pool, something I had not encountered at any other hotels in Sri Lanka.

The staff was truly a highlight to my trip, the amount of kindness and hospitality was above the chart, very smooth process and professional attitude, the lady and owner of the hotel were available all the time. Rooms are big and modern, service is available all the time.

The hosts were very accommodating and got anything that we requested. The view of the lake was beautiful and the environment was very peaceful. These days in Sri Lanka it is hard to find a vacation spot that is not crowded but this place was perfectly quiet. Also the room was amazing! The pool was beautifully kept and maintained.

It would have been nice to have breakfast or dinner included in the price of the room. Also the parking was very limited so you should probably drive a small or medium vehicle here. Getting to the location was a bit of a challenge but it was part of having a quiet place.

I don't know where to start. The place is just magical. It's completely in nature and has an amazing view over the lake. The surroundings are peaceful far away from any noise. The rooms are the biggest I've stayed in here in Sri Lanka and very luxurious. Also the balcony is huge and you can sit down and just enjoy the view on bird island and the lake as well as from your bed when you're waking up. The swimming pool was nice and refreshing and I had it all by myself. Besides the great place the hospitality was on a next level. My mornings have started with a refreshing homemade juice/smoothie that was brought to my room and free of charge. What a great start to the day. Furthermore, the owner arranged a private boat tour on the lake to visit the small islands such as Cinnamon island and I even could see a small crocodile on the tour. The tour took over 3 hours and it was no mass tour. Also, he recommended a great tour guide for Yala National Park and Ella. The dinner I had at the hotel was amazing. You can taste that he was previously working in a 5 star restaurant as a chef. Thanks again for everything and I definitely will come back the next time I'm visiting Sri Lanka.

We were very lucky to choose this place for our holiday in this beautiful country, and had an amazing experience at Splendour Residence!Probably one of the best places we have ever been to on our little planet. The views are outstanding , place is quiet and very peaceful. The food is delicious, and we been introduced to full Sri Lanka cuisine by probably one of the best chefs in Sri Lanka. Owners of residence were very welcoming, helpful and polite. We highly recommend this place for your holiday if you would like to run away from noisy environment and enjoy magic views of nature . Big thank you for hosting us and making our stay so exceptional! We are looking forward to coming back!

My experience was exceptional. The hotel owner, Niroshan, personally greeted me at the airport when I arrived, and provided transfer. During my stay, he generously upgraded my room to one with a better view, at no extra cost. The spacious rooms were quite comfortable, and the dinners offered at the hotel were consistently satisfying. What truly made my stay memorable was the hospitality extended by Niroshan. He organized a river safari for me and my friend, one evening he took me on a trip to Galle with his family. To top it off, one evening, Niroshan and his wife prepared a special dinner featuring local dishes, which they graciously offered free of charge. Overall, Splendour Residence provided not only a comfortable stay but also a warm and welcoming atmosphere, making it a standout choice for visitors seeking a delightful experience in the area.

This is hidden gem. The view, vibe and architectural design of the place is beyond what I expected.

First of all I would like to thank the hotel owner Niroshan and his wife Lakshmi for their hospitality and for making everything for our comfortable stay in Sri Lanka. The hotel itself is located in a picturesque village just above the Madhu River. The rooms have a beautiful view of the river, islands and jungle. There are only six rooms in the hotel, so Niroshan can give enough time and attention to each of the guests. Start your day with the pool and freshly squeezed fruit juice. The breakfast at the hotel is delicious and quite varied. Niroshan is a wonderful cook with years of experience, so be sure to try the dishes prepared by him. Our stay here fell on New Year's Eve, which we decided to celebrate at the hotel, which we never regretted. The hotel team organized for us an unforgettable evening with delicious food, wine, fireworks and national dances. Especially memorable was the excursion to a tea plantation and a tea factory. You should definitely visit it, you will learn a lot of interesting things about the technology of harvesting and production, as well as taste very tasty tea. Niroshan is a very interesting person and will gladly tell you about the specifics of life on the island, local traditions and history. I did not want to leave. But we will definitely come back, because there is still so much to see on the island, so much to try!

Very kind owner who does his best to ensure clients satisfaction. If you love art, you should speak to him about it ! He is a passionate collector. The hotel is very clean and spacious. Breakfast could be a little bit better for a 5 star hotel, but still it was delicious. The pool was clean. The very best thing about this hotel is the view you get from your room. Amazing 🤩...

Even though the hotel is just an year old, you can already see some construction flaws. Our balcony sliding doors had like a centimeter gap between them so you could hear everything from outside (especially guests having breakfast from 7:30am) and mosquitos can have a free party at your room.. cables hanging from the ceiling is something everyone is used to in Sri Lanka, but for a 5 star hotel, I would expect more. We didn't like our pillows, but that is just our subjective thought. Also many big red ants are crawling all around the pool sunbeds. Our wifi was extremely slow and so unusable ( maybe problem of our room only, we didn't say anything to the reception, because we had unlimited data)

Beautiful stay! The staff are very welcoming and helpful with everything. Really good food and well furnished property with all required amenities. The owner and his wife are too good and very much helpful. Can enjoy a boat safari which is also worthwhile. Highly recommended.

It was just perfect! The villa and the environment is wonderful! Even nicer than on the picture! The family took care of every which we had and were super friendly! We recommend this place to everyone! Its much more nicer than the hotels on the beach, and very easy to reach by public Transport and TukTuk for the last meters. It was the nicest accommodation we had on our 3.5 week Sri Lanka trip and a perfect place to finish it :-)

Stunning views and amazing staff

With a stunning view, this property took my expectations to a new level! Located in a quiet area beside the lake, I enjoyed the peaceful and quiet surroundings! Modern but not landscape changing the Hotel is placed in the hill by the lake. Staff and owners are always there for you to help if anything is needed! Thx to all of them! 🙏🏻 At my next stay, I definitely will come again!

Like most of the time in Sri Lanka, you got to be prepared with Mosquito repellent. But that’s just nature and not a problem of the Hotel!

From the moment we arrived at this hidden gem until the last we were treated like royalty. Niroshwan, Lakshmi and all the staff were so nice, they went above and beyond to make our stay even more special. Their culinary skills were amazing and the taste and quality of the food was exceptional with many options to choose from. The room was very spacious, clean and had everything we needed from ensuite shower room, fresh linen, a safe and fridge to mention a few. The lake view from inside our room and balcony is breathtaking and Neroshwan was so kind to arrange a boat safari where we enjoyed observing the many local wildlife. We walked in to the town which was quite a pleasant 20 minute walk and were greeted along the way many times by the friendly locals, we felt very safe on route. The hotel wasn't overly expensive but still felt like we should be paying much more for the quality and service that we received. It was worth every rupee. I would strongly advise anyone travelling to Sri Lanka to consider travelling down the coast and stay at this beautiful resort, you will not be disappointed. We sincerely wish Niroswan, Lakshmi and family all of the luck in the future. We will not forget this place and have plenty of amazing photos and memories to look back on. We can't thank them enough for the happiness, their generocity and this whole wonderful experience.

Highly recommend Splendour Residence. We had a very warm welcome and the lovely couple and the support staff, Mohan made our stay very memorable. You must try their Sri Lankan spread - by far the best we've had! So much care and attention has gone into designing this property. The room was spacious and clean and was an exact replica of what was advertised on booking.com. Niroshan and Lakshmi made us feel at home throughout our stay. We definitely hope to be back soon! You will not regret this visit - Enjoy :)

Location and the owners. Niroshan and Lakshmi are two gifted individuals made you feel you’re at home . Their overwhelming hospitality was amazing and the meals were the best home made we have ever tasted. Niroshan treated us with Kirala juice as welcome drink and was so refreshing. Husband and wife culinary expertise is certainly put 5 star chefs at the back burner. It was simply awesome !!! The scenery from the top floor room was panoramic and you get to watch the river and its bird life unhindered and you feel very relaxed to the state of an ascetic in meditation.

The best hotel I’ve ever been privileged enough to stay at. Gorgeous building, and it only gets more breathtaking when you walk in. High quality rooms, and high quality service. The Madu river scenery was beautiful and it was a relieve to stay in such a quiet and peaceful environment. It is a really great location and a very loyal staff with adorable hospitality.
