Surfing Temple Boutique Hotel

We booked this hotel expecting a normal and safe stay, but unfortunately experienced a deeply disturbing incident involving one of the hotel’s staff members. My girlfriend was naked and showering in the bathroom when she discovered that a hotel employee was peeping through a hole/opening in the shower area. Imagine being completely naked in what you believe is the privacy of your hotel room, only to discover that a member of the hotel staff is watching you. It was extremely disturbing, frightening, and violating. We immediately reported the incident to the hotel and the police. Because of what happened, my girlfriend no longer felt comfortable or safe staying at the property. We had to leave, and as a result, we missed our scheduled flight and had to rearrange important plans and commitments back home. What should have been a normal trip turned into an extremely stressful experience that disrupted our plans and caused significant inconvenience. The biggest issue here is not the room, the facilities, or the usual hotel-service complaints. It is the fact that a hotel employee was looking at a naked guest while she was showering. Guests should be able to expect complete privacy in their own hotel bathroom. We hope the hotel takes this incident seriously and reviews its staff, security, and procedures to make sure that no other guest has to experience something like this. I would strongly advise future guests to be aware of what happened before deciding to stay here.

Location is very good it also a bit isolated for those who love quite, pool is great, the place is unique but maintenance needed. Stuff were very polite and breakfast was very nice.

Le petit déjeuner est bon mais le service beaucoup trop lent. Le personnel est sur son téléphone au lieu de vous servir. Par ailleurs, on nous a demandé de payer le montant d’une réparation sur un scooter que vous avions loué alors qu’il était intacte, c’était uniquement pour essayer de récupérer un peu d’argent.

É un place to be in Siargao, anche solo per 1 notte. Situato nella zona di Cloud9, per chi ama allontanarsi dalla confusione e godere delle stanze che sono piu belle che nelle foto, del bar così accogliente e con un certo stile e design curato e del relax in piscina. Staff cordiale e attento e disponibile ad aiutarti per qualsiasi esigenza.

- Excellent staff who went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. - Very clean property, beautifully styled. - Amazing onsite restaurant, breakfast was perfect, so much love, care and attention went into the meals. - Strong wifi, would be a good place to work remotely.

- Pool seating is uncomfortable and too low. Would be made improved with some more plush seating in pool area. - Property is off the beaten track, expect to walk down uneven dirt track. Personally this was not an issue for us and contributed to the rustic, relaxing vibe this place had, just not appropriate for someone with reduced mobility.

Absolutely beautiful hotel in Siargao. Great pool, bar, facilities in the room. Drinks and snacks complementary in the room was a lovely touch. Breakfast was delicious and great selection including coffees and drinks. Pool area was very relaxing. Reception team were lovely and extremely helpful in booking day trips and airport transfers. Walking distance to cloud9 area and lots of transport available to central Luna.

Tricky road to get to the property which some drivers don’t like going down (easy to walk though!)

La ubicacion esta genial, aunque el caminito para llegar puede ser tricky. Hay una lavanderia al lado en caso de necesitarla. Nos proporcionaron las motos y todo muy facil. Piscina muy chula y debian organizar paellas los domingos (una pena que nos lo perdimos). Habitaciones limpias y todo de calidad top. La comida esta muy rica.

Habia alguna zona como alrededor de la piscina que no estaba del todo bien mantenida y por el precio que se pagaba (vs otros alojamientos) esperas que si. El dia que nos ibamos (era algo temprano, tipo 6.30AM) no consiguieron darnos el desayuno porque no habia nadie. Igualmente, una estancia muy buena y recomendable.

Excellent séjour au Surfing Temple, chambre plus spacieuse que prévu, accueillante avec un bon mobilier. La piscine extérieur et l'espace restauration sont tops ! L'ambiance calme est détendue garantie ! Nous avons testé que le petit-déjeuner mais c'était délicieux et le personnel est très arrangeant. Ils nous ont prêté des casques de scooter pendant la durée de notre séjour.

Le chemin pour accéder à l'hôtel est rude à pratiquer en scooter (des gros nids de poules qui forment de grosses flaques d'eau) mais ça fait partie du charme et c'est le prix à payer. Le plancher autour de la piscine est en mauvais état, on a vu une cliente tomber au travers (rien de grave tout de même).

The exterior and interior are gorgeous, gives you the tropical vacay vibe. Our vila was lovely and the bed was very comfortable. Staff were super nice and helpful and the location was very convenient.

Even tho the design is very nice you can see it’s used and at some places broken. Area around the pool and chairs in the restaurant would deserve a renovation since the price for the accommodation is pretty high. Also a lot of people were mentioning the road to the hotel as a nightmare but I feel like it wasn’t so bad as it was described. Yes, it’s rocky with huge holes but at least it’s not uphill and if it’s raining you just have to drive/walk slowly.

Rien, mis à part le mauvais état des lattes de bois autour de la piscine : mon compagnon est passé au travers d’une, et est reparti avec de belles égratignures ! Le sol allait être changé la semaine d’après, dommage ! Le fait de devoir partir aussi est un gros point négatif ! On a envie d’y rester !

The quality of the facilities, everything was broken or beaten. We had water leaking from the ceiling of the room. AC kept turning off for no reason. Bead sheets were broken, and the room door lock did not close with the key

SERPENT DANS LA CHAMBRE !!! Ce fut une expérience extrêmement désagréable, nous avons extrêmement mal dormi tout le reste du séjour (bien qu’on nous ait changé de chambre). De plus, la clim est cachée et donc il faisait chaud, malgré notre demande de la rendre plus accessible rien n’a été fait. Nous avons très mal dormi du à ces désagrément et AUCUN GESTE financier n’a été fait. comme mentionné dans de nombreux commentaires le coin piscine et vraiment délabré, on a l’impression qu’on va passer à travers du sol, et les cousins sont troués et sales. Pour le prix d’une nuit c’est assez décevant.

Les coussins des parties communes, piscine, salon, restaurant … pas propres. Le fait d’avoir dû réserver 2 chambres pour 2 personnes alors que les chambres étaient spacieuses et qu’une seule était suffisante! Et par conséquence, prix élevé pour 2.

The menu offered a wide variety of options, but most of the dishes were never available. Don’t book activities like surfing through the hotel, it’s more expensive and feels like a tourist scam. There were large numbers of centipedes in the room every day.

La habitación estaba genial, de tamaño y de decoración y tenía todo lo necesario para hacer la estancia perfecta. El bar del hotel todo un acierto, el desayuno riquisimo!!! Y luego para comer o cenar tenían una carta buenísima tambien! Nos quedamos varios días ahí! La ubicacion sin estar a pie de playa, está cerquisima de todo en moto/Tuktuk y al estar en interior hace que sea más tranquilo. El personal amable y siempre atento. Repetiría la estancia en surfing temple sin dudar!!

Alojamiento en ubicacion perfecta para conocer Siargao. El hotel es precioso, tal y como se muestra en las imagenes. La habitacion es grande y acogedora, la zona de piscina es perfecta para relajarse al sol. El restaurante tiene muy buen servicio, incluido el desayuno que es increible con varias opciones a elegir. El servicio es super atento, en el mismo hotel puedes alquilar la moto y organizar los tours.

Nie rezerwowałabym tego hotelu. Dopóki wszystko idzie ok jest ok, ale gdy pojawiają się problemy tj. Powódź na wyspie i silne wiatry (sprawdźcie pogodę przed przyjazdem i zarezerwujcie zwrotnie ten hotel!!) zamknięta jest cała wyspa (nie da się wylecieć ani przylecieć) personel jest całkowicie niepomocny. Hotel jasno pokazał nam w tej sytuacji, że zależy im na pieniądzach a nie na gościach.

Restaurant exceptionnel : nous y avons dîné tous les soirs et pris tous les petits-déjeuners sur place, c’est un sans-faute. • Personnel souriant, très professionnel et réactif. • Literie confortable, sommeil de qualité. • Établissement intimiste et calme : seulement 5 chambres, ce qui rend l’endroit très agréable, paisible et reposant. • Attention appréciable : chaque jour, deux bouteilles d’eau en verre sont mises à disposition dans la chambre, avec la possibilité d’en obtenir davantage dans la journée si besoin. • Bon emplacement : restaurants, laundry, bars, cafés et spa accessibles à pied.

Rapport qualité/prix très décevant : payer entre 130 et 150 € la nuit aux Philippines implique normalement un niveau d’excellence, ce qui n’est clairement pas le cas ici. • Sécurité insuffisante : le contour de la piscine est extrêmement dangereux. Une latte de la terrasse a cassé sous mes pieds en me levant du matelas ; je me suis blessée et cela aurait pu être bien plus grave. • Équipements de salle de bain insuffisants : uniquement savon et shampooing, sans après-shampooing, avec des étiquettes usées et illisibles sur les distributeurs. • Propreté perfectible : un coussin sur le lit présentait des taches visibles. Service non honoré : nous avions demandé un petit-déjeuner à emporter pour notre départ, que nous n’avons jamais reçu. • Environnement extérieur : pour sortir de l’hôtel, impossible de porter une robe ou un pantalon sans se tacher au vu de l’état de la route. (Temps pluvieux et route inondé) Manque d’attention pour une occasion spéciale : j’avais réservé cet hôtel pour célébrer mes 30 ans. À la demande de mon mari (et entièrement à ses frais), une décoration et un bouquet ont été installés dans la chambre. Le soir de mon anniversaire, le dessert nous a été apporté sans bougie ni attention particulière, mais sans être facturé, ce que nous avons trouvé très appréciable. En revanche, au moment du départ de l’hôtel 2 jours après , il nous a été indiqué qu’il s’agissait d’un oubli et que le dessert devait finalement être réglé. Bien entendu, l’hôtel n’a aucune obligation d’offrir quoi que ce soit, mais à ce niveau de prix, un minimum d’attention et de cohérence est attendu. ➡️ Nous voyageons depuis plus de cinq mois, avons séjourné dans de nombreux établissements, notamment aux Philippines, et à ce tarif, le niveau attendu est nettement supérieur. Malgré d’excellents points, l’ensemble est loin des standards correspondant au prix demandé.

El restaruante es estupendo, para nosotros, el mejor de todo Siargao. Deberia estar lleno de gente !! El servicio es amable y trata de ayudar en todo aunque el idioma a veces es una traba. El hotel es muy bonito en general, muy agradable, y con una piscina. Las habitaciones son espaciosas y comodas aunque falla la presión del agua que es escasa. La recomendacion de la empresa de alquiler de coches , muy buena.

El camino de acceso es malo malo malisimo . 200 metros de barro, charcos e incomodidad. No se puede salir andando del hotel . Las recomendacion de la empresa de Island Hopping : completamente negativa. Un barco viejo, ruidoso e incomodo. Un guia ( un tal Angel ) completamente inservible y que estuvo ausente jugando en su telefono todo el dia. Por favor, un poco mas de selección antes de hacer esta equivocada recomendación. Fue una mala experiencia. Nos hizo, guia e incomodidades, pasar un dia desagradable.

Het eten van het restaurant was bij het diner verrassend goed. Er stonden twee dames in de keuken met plezier in hun werk. Het was erg rustig in het verblijf omdat er zelden andere gasten waren. Dit zorgde wel voor zichtbare verveling bij de overvloed aan personeel.

Het terras bij het zwembad is echt aan vervanging toe. Het is gewoon gevaarlijk er te lopen, want er steken spijkers uit de planken en overal zitten grote gaten. Ook veel stoelen van het restaurant zijn kapot. Kan echt niet! De weg naar het verblijf toe is een uitdaging als er heeft geregend. Wij konden er wel om lachen en vonden het wel een spannend ritje, maar gelukkig reed de scooter die we huurde nog, want die werd daardoor natuurlijk ook goed nat. Ik kan niet begrijpen dat het niet een keer geegaliseerd of geasfalteerd wordt na alle opmerkingen die ik hier al over had gelezen. Wat ik wel het meest vervelend vond, was dat ik op de eerste avond opmerkte dat we alleen koffie op de kamer hadden. Ik vroeg om een paar theezakjes, maar daar moest dan wel extra voor betaald worden. Ik liet het maar doen en ging met een vervelend gevoel terug naar de kamer. Het gaat mij niet om het geld, maar de grote onkunde en gebrek aan inzicht als je hier geld voor moet rekenen. Er zouden koffie en thee faciliteiten op de kamer moeten zijn en waarom extra geld vragen voor een paar theezakjes als je tien nachten blijft en goed geld betaald. Ik vond het waardeloos en helaas daardoor gelijk een vervelend gevoel gekregen aan het begin. De prijs kwaliteit verhouding is niet in orde. We hebben vele resorts en verblijven gehad, maar deze vonden we overpriced.

The place was amazing — cozy, beautiful, and the energy was just so chill. The staff were all so kind and attentive too. As a solo traveler, I felt really safe and well taken care of the whole time. The pool was my favorite part of the property. I ended up hanging out there way more than I planned.

Only thing I didn’t like was the street going into the property, a bit difficult with a motorbike and even walking, especially when it rained and got muddy. Hoping they can fix that soon

Everything about this hotel was great. It was one of the favourite places we stayed during our trip to Siargao. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and the food was really good. The music and cheap drinks on Sundays were a favourite.

Rien tout est parfait!

El restaurante ofrece muy buenas opciones . Las habitaciones están muy limpias y la piscina es muy tranquila. Además está cerca de la carretera principal. El desayuno es increíble y el personal es amable . Tuvimos un problema con la habitación y aunque tardaron en cambiarnos al final nos dieron una habitación mejor y se solucionó. Brian el manager se encargó finalmente de eso .

El camino de entrada al hotel está sin asfaltar y cuando llueve se inunda y dificulta el acceso tanto en vehículo como andando. El hotel es tranquilo sin embargo al estar rodeado de campos y viviendas locales , estas tienen animales que te puede molestar ( tipo gallos y gallinas cantando a las 4 de la mañana). La piscina es tranquila y agradable , pero tendrían que arreglar el suelo ( al ser de madera está en mal estado ) y las tumbonas .

El hotel esta bien pero no tuvimos buena experiencia con el personal, contratamos un coche a través de ellos y no salió bien, nos dijeron el precio y después nos pedían mas, como te piden fianza al final estas pillado Estas cosas al final son desagradables… el hotel no nos ayudo

We really enjoyed our stay at Surfing Temple! The bungalows are surrounded by lush greenery, spacious, nicely furnished, and very comfortable. We spent time in the pool every day, which was a real highlight. The wooden deck around the pool could use some maintenance, but overall everything was great. Having your own scooter is definitely practical for getting around.

The Resort has very nice bedrooms and Bathrooms, you get an awesome room service and get everything you need. The Pool area is very nice too and the Food is super good, especially the Breakfast! The service is amazing and the Staff is the nicest!

The hotel is clean with comfortable rooms and a very nice bar/restaurant area. The pool area wooden deck is quite damaged. The staff was amazing and Brian the manager can literally help you with anything and made our trip memorable.

The road to the hotel from the main road is in terrible condition, when it rains it is basically impossible to get to the main road without being drenched in mud. We travelled as a couple and had to rent a Tuk Tuk because a normal scooter/motorbike would be very difficult to ride on that road. Also note normal taxi fares are 30 pesos around General Luna, but if the taxi drivers hear you want to go to Surfing Temple they charge 150 pesos due to the bad road condition to the hotel.

Very private but well located at the same time, about 5min scooter drive to cloud 9. The room is spacious and very well decorated, we especially loved the outdoor shower. The food is amazing and I can’t praise enough the staff at surfing temple, they were all so nice and made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Would definetely book again. Special thanks to Brian, Jovel and Vanessa(sorry I don’t remember the names of the remaining staff)!

Absolutely nothing to say here!

The ambiance is amazing, the rooms are stylish and the breakfast is amazing quality! Love chilling by the pool and ordering some delicious dishes such the “Tuna huevos rotos” and the veggies samosas! Sundays are specially fun with the live dj session!!

Staff are super helpful and friendly! Very relaxed and chilled.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Surfing Temple! Brian and the staff made us feel so welcome and well looked after with regular advice about where to eat, how to navigate the sometimes tricky road out to the main street on foot, other destinations on the island to visit and much more! The hotel also facilitated arrival and departure transfers for a seamless pick up and drop off to the airport. The staff organised us with moped rental and we paid at the end of our trip, a surfboard rack and change of helmets were facilitated swiftly. The daily free breakfast is an extensive menu and very delicious too, prepared fresh by the lovely staff. Our room was cleaned and tidied daily to a high standard. This hotel is tucked away from the noise and offers a safe haven of tranquility! In addition, this is excellently located to Cloud 9 and Jacking Horse for amazing surf spots within 5 minutes on a moped. Overall, we absolutely LOVED our time here and would absolutely love to come back!

It is worth noting that the track to get out of the villa is susceptible to large puddles of water, but it was being fixed as we left! We used mopeds to get around and they could easily get through the puddles so it wasn't ever an issue for us and Brian kindly showed us a pathway on foot that meant you could go on foot and not get wet feet. Another point to note is that there is construction work going on above the hotel bar/restaurant which never bothered us because we were often out during their working hours but is something to consider if you're aiming to stay in the hotel by the pool all day. Due to the rainy nature of this rapidly evolving tropical island, neither of these are criticisms and are largely beyond anyone's control!

Our stay was simply exceptional. Upon arriving in Siargao, we spent three nights there and discovered a true little haven. The room was stunning, filled with extraordinary natural light. Everything was spotless, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The common areas, especially the pool and kitchen, are warm and inviting, perfect for relaxing. The atmosphere is peaceful and intimate, making it an ideal place to unwind. The staff is incredibly attentive, always making sure we had everything we needed, and the owner stands out for his kindness and generosity. It was such an amazing experience that we almost regret our current accommodation! If you’re unsure about what to do on a Sunday, don’t hesitate—you won’t be disappointed 😉

There’s nothing not to love! A true paradise on Earth.

The hotel has a lot of greenery and on the good side the bar tender was fun and friendly, the food is not bad.

While the staff was very friendly, I unfortunately cannot recommend this location, especially considering the $170 per night rate. Firstly, the towels were not replaced during our six-night stay. We had to request new ones on the fourth day because the humidity made them unusable. This shouldn't be an issue at a hotel. The atmosphere felt more like an Airbnb than a hotel. There’s no reception staff after around 9:30-10 PM, which means you can't order food or drinks after that time. The place felt quite deserted in the evenings, with only a security guard present who was rather loud with his snoring. While the staff seemed attentive when the owner was around, the level of care dropped significantly in her absence. For instance, we ran out of toilet paper and had to ask for more twice—something that should not happen in a hotel. Additionally, the sheets on our bed were stained, which was disappointing. We also encountered a significant issue with the road leading to the property. As many reviews pointed out, it was difficult to navigate with our bikes due to large potholes and flooding. We are experienced riding bikes, but we even had a fall because of the poor conditions. Overall, if I were to return to the island, I would choose a different accommodation. There are likely better and more affordable options available.

Welcoming atmosphere, comfortable and clean rooms exactly as pictured. A good restaurant with varied all day menu. A helpful and super responsive front of house team, especially Dee and Joval made the stay so pleasant.

The road leading up to the hotel can be challenging to navigate with potholes and bumps it’s definitely tough to get through after heavy rain.

Terrible location. We literally flipped a trikey trying to get there. No amenities, food was ok. Overall not worth the price.... not even half the price really. Or stay elsewhere was half the price and twice the place.

Love the place! Second time i stay at this Hotel. The place is so beautiiful with bungalows sorrounded by a tropical garden and a great pool, super well decorated and really good food and drinks, like the delicious breakfast options. They have the best bed i’ve ever been, super comfortable! Great location very near the famous surf spots and such a welcoming staff that makes you feel in paradise. Super quiet neighbourhood area to relax.

Very friendly staff and clean cabanas! Aesthetically pleasing and really lives up to the jungle vibes! Great touches on decor here and there - and we really liked how convenient our room was furnished. The food is also great. Breakfast is from 7:30, but as one of our mornings we had a planned tour with pick up 7:30 - they were able to prepare our breakfast before!!! They even knocked on our door at 7, just to take our order, so when we came out our breakfast was ready! Reception staff were really friendly and service minded! Especially the guy (unfortunately, I don’t remember his name :( ) - he was by the reception the most of our stay! He was really accommodating and even helped us one night to get a trike by the hotel because I couldn’t walk through the bumpy road with heels on (haha.) He drove his own scooter to the main road to catch us a trike! It’s only a 8-minute drive from/to town! And approx. 2 km from Cloud 9!!

As other guests also have mentioned…. Unfortunately the bumpy and very rocky road leading up to the hotel from the main road. When reading the other reviews about this - I thought to myself: how bad could it be haha? But I really disliked walking to the property from the main road when it got dark, as not all trikes would wanna drive you to the front of the hotel - because they didn’t want to drive on the rocky road… there is no street light, so you would have to walk with flashlight from ex. your phone. I will say that the walk from the main road to the hotel is only a couple of minutes! But some lights would already help a lot! However, some of the trike drivers is willing to drive you in front of the property - but you would have to kindly ask (and of course they would charge more). Fares would approximately be: From town (General Luna) to drop off before the rocky road - approx. 100-150 pesos From town (General Luna) to the front of the hotel - approx. 300 pesos Also, I found myself looking for a place to dry my wet swimwear - I let it out to dry on top of the chairs by the door room, but it didn’t seem to dry and it actually just left a stain from the oil on the chairs onto my swimwear.

The staff were so friendly and accommodating. The free breakfast from their menu was delicious. The smoothie bowl was my favorite. The chef even came in early one day so she can cook our breakfast even before the restaurant open because our tour pick up was early. I liked the tropical feel of the hotel and the outside shower was a plus. The hotel style is more like a villa.

The street going to the location has lots of potholes. And the street was flooded but was not the hotel's fault. The city officials neglected the property owners in that area's plea for the road to be fixed and per the hotel owner they were willing to share in fixing the road. But nothing is being done by the city officials. I will stay in this hotel again if they fix the road.

The room was amazing. The place was very clean. Lovely setting. Good food. Well priced food and drink.

How they let the public into use the swimming pool and sunbed area. This meant that there were no sunbed areas for guests to use and also attracted a young crowd who were drinking and smoking around the pool which made it feel more like a hostel rather than the peaceful retreat that we were after. Minus this, we’d give it a 10. I think that they should address this as this would put us off staying here again.

The villa was just beautiful! Well designed, a mix of industrial jungle. I love the open shower! The overall decor of the hotel just beautiful, especially the bar and pool area. The food was great - they served mainly tapas, as well as the cocktails. I think it's probably one of the best in the island! The staff and the hospitality exceeded expectations as what you'd expect with Filipino hospitality. All in all, I felt so welcomed and felt so at home.

The wifi was super slow :(

We liked everything. Really beautiful, good food and music. Restaurant is cool and chill. Room very clean and nice. So green. Great location except the road to the hotel.

I didn’t like that lots of people outside the hotel can come to stay all day long and the hotel and pool is really busy. You should say something before anyone book a room because it’s not good for everyone. They need to check the roofs of their rooms every night and morning we hear some animals running on the roof sounds like mouse’s or something like that. The road to the hotel from main road is horrible.

Can be busy during the day with non hotel guests No drying racks for clothes or wet stuff! An easy fix- please do it!

A peaceful and private location away from the busy main strip of General Luna. Nice pool with large area for sunbathing. Great breakfast options and friendly staff. Location is opposite a great surfing school and cafe.

Loved the interior design, the staff, the drinks and food were amazing, music was on point and the over all feel of the place was great. The rooms were super nice and cozy, the bathrooms were beautiful, especially the outdoor shower. Love that they give you a mosquito repellant to help with mosquitos. We have to commend Bybert, Jovel, Mark and Dee for their hospitality and making our stay super comfy.

The dirt path that led up to the hotel. It's very bumpy and difficult to drive on especially if you're not a confident driver on a motor bike. Also, when it rains little pools or mud form and become even more challenging to manoeuvre around even on foot.
