Sao Mai Hotel

This property was very spacious, clean, and easy to find. Its location is close to many sights, and places for food etc, but very nice and quiet. One of the most quiet stays I had in Vietnam. There is a big cute dog who likes to be pet alot and rubbed on the belly, and a sweet little cat who is also desperate for attention, and will sit on your lap. Perfect cuties. I was given a bike for free which is alot of fun to cycle around on. Felt very calm staying here, and the host Vu Vu and his family were very fun and kind. Vu spoke excellent english so it was nice to have conversations with him. He also kindly invited me to sit with him and his friends for his friends birthday. Very kind, I thank you alot. Hope to see you again someday my friend, take care!

Uns hat die sehr herzliche Gastfamilie gfallen, die sich rührend um uns gekümmert hat. Mr. Vu hat den Bustransfer oerfekt organisiert. Wir konnten mit den Leihfahrräder die Umgebung erkunden. Ein Wäscheservice war auch mit dabei. Das Essen im Homestay war super und üppig. Vielen Dank!

Tout , vraiment tout!!! Toute la famille a été aux petits soins pour nous, nous nous sommes sentis comme chez nous! Les repas pris sur place étaient très copieux et bons, on a pu participer à la confection de roll , un régal! Vu a organisé une sortie en bateau pour nous, il nous a fait le guide et on a pu goûter une multitude de fruits! On a pu participer à une Soirée Karaoké le soir avec sa famille ! Et le lendemain Vu nous a fait faire une balade en vélo dans Cai bè. On s'est régalé !! Cette pension de famille doit être connu !!

Très belle adresse à Cai Be, l’accueil de Mr Vu a été génial il est directement venu me chercher après une balade en bateau sur le mekong pour m’amener à l’hôtel, le repas et le petit déjeuné sont fait minute et c’est tres bon ! J’ai même eu le droit à une balade en scooter pour me faire visiter les alentours agricoles de Cai Be ! Adresse chaleureuse et conviviale, la chambre était très bien

L'accueil de Vhu et sa famille a été incroyable du début à la fin. Avant même notre arrivés, il a pris les choses en mains et nous à organisé notre arrivées de A à Z avec beaucoup de super conseils. Nous avons pu participer à la préparation du dîner avec sa famille, excellent. Le lendemain nous avons fait l'excursion en bateau qui a été un super moment également. Chambre au top avec grande douche. Petit dej au top aussi = meilleur séjour depuis le début de notre voyage

Hôte et sa famille avec un accueil exceptionnel. Toujours à l'écoute et avec beaucoup de bienveillance et de générosité. Super visite de 4h organisée par Mr Vu qui nous a accompagnés. Nous y avons pris tous nos repas et avons découvert avec grand plaisir la cuisine familiale et les fruits du jardin. En resumé : au top , on a quitté l'hôtel avec un pincement au coeur.

Absolument tout. L’emplacement est idéal au bord du Mékong. La famille est exceptionnelle, nous avons pu cuisiner avec eux, faire un tour guidée qu’avec notre famille à travers des maisons et lieux que nous n’aurions jamais trouvé seul, ils sont tous d’une gentille folle. C’est de loin mon coup de cœur du Vietnam je recommande les yeux fermés.

Stayed here for a few night to explore the Mekong Delta. Mr. Vu and his family made it much more than that. This is the ultimate homestay presented as a hotel. They treat you like family and are so welcoming and accommodating you won't want to leave! They offer many services and breakfast is also included and delicious!

A nice hotel by the riverside with a lovely garden full of flowers and trees. It’s run by a very friendly family who helped us with a lot of things. They organized a fantastic boat trip and told us about places reachable with a bicycle. The village is nice and easy to go around by bicycle which we did a lot. The hotel staff cooks delicious meals.

L hôtel est très simple et pas trop mal placé dans Cai Bé mais un peu loin du centre. Ce que nous avons vraiment apprécié c est une très grande hospitalité, une extrême gentillesse et très serviables. Nous y avons pris notre dîner, simple cuisine vietnamienne et bonne. C était comme à la maison. Nous avons fait une balade sur le Mekong organisée par l hôte. Malheureusement les marchés flottant étaient fermés, sans doute à cause des préparatifs du Nouvel An. Mais là balade était agréable et intéressante.

La chambre était très sommaire mais vu le tarif si peu cher, le rapport qualité prix est très correct. Cela nous a suffit pour une nuit locale.

Soggiorno ed esperienza fantastica. Il proprietario dell hotel Vu è stato impeccabile dal primo momento aiutandomi a prenotare il bus per raggiungere l hotel dalla capitale. È stato sempre presente per qualsiasi cosa. Arrivata lì mi ha accolto subito insieme alla sua famiglia. Stanze con tutto l’occorrente e il necessario. Ho cenato con loro ( lo consiglio) ad una cifra bassissima ed era tutto eccezionale. Io non avevo organizzato nulla, lui il giorno dopo mi ha portato sul Mekong per un giro straordinario compreso di pranzo altrettanto buono. Nel pomeriggio giro in moto bike per il villaggio. La colazione sia dolce che tradizionale, basta chiedere. Con Vu si vive davvero il Vietnam, percepisci l’amore per la terra e per le altre persone. Se avete voglia di vivere un’esperienza del genere scegliete questo splendido hotel.

Superb. Friendly isn't enough to describe staff here. They are genuine, welcoming and take care of you as if you are their family member. Location is a bit off but offers great tranquility. It:s walkable to other places around Cai Be. Such a great stay!

Vu was a fantastic host. For our three day stay, he made us feel part of his lovely family, showed us surrounding villages and the family farm. It was great for our kids (age 8 and 13) as well. They participated in cooking food and shopping in the local market. I strongly suggest saying yes to any tours that Mr. Vu offers. The boat tour was especially wonderful, included a tour on the Mekong proper and little canals, a delicious lunch in a local home on an island in the river, even some theatre performances- and more! We loved our stay here, and our new family. Thank you, Mr. Vu! Highly recommended for those who want to experience the real Vietnam and the warmth of the locals....

We loved it!

Great value for money! Mr Vu and his sister are the kindest hotel owners you will ever meet!! They are honest, kind and more helpful than you can imagine. Cai Be does not seem to be a very touristy place and therefore you will not find great restaurants or bars in town. However, if you want to experience the feeling of being in a real Vietnam town, this is the place to be (keep your translator tools at hand)

Beds are very springy and there is not much to do in town as a tourist.

Sao Mai was an ideal base to explore the Meekong Delta. Vu and his family were the best hosts willing to help arrange tours, transport and cook for us. It's a lovely place to explore and well worth travelling from Ho Chi Minh rather than just doing away trip. The room was spacious and cool. Breakfast was great and the evening meals very delicious and very reasonably priced. They were very flexible and happy to cater for a vegetarian. We borrowed bikes to explore the area and enjoyed a boat trip around the area as well as a trip to Xeo Quyt. Well worth 2 or 3 nights respite from the cities of Vietnam. Thanks Vu and family!'

Good vibe with a relaxed atmosphere. Suitable for short or long stays. The owner was very helpful with organising buses etc which can be confusing for travellers.

Property is a bit out of the way but owner will assist with transport to and from the hotel.

The family were so welcoming. They cooked a delicious evening meal and breakfast for us.

Mr Vu and his family were the perfect hosts. They always made you feel welcome, he showed us around the area on scooters and let us borrow one of the scooters later free of charge. We went on a tour on a boat with him, stopping at all kinds of locations, which was one of the best we had in the mekong delta (he was also the tour guide). We had several dinners with them, helping them a bit with making the meals. I can say with no doubt this is a must for anyone wanting to experience the delta. Also the wifi was great, the shower was OK always with hot water, great air conditioning, there was always free water to drink and the location is also really good, right by the river.

The facilities themselves, although very large, need some maintainance. The spring bed we slept on was OK but worn out a long time ago (both of us slid into the middle of it), the room itself was big but wasn't clean enough (gums behind the bed head, squashed bugs and stains on the walls etc..). But, all places we stayed in on the mekong delta were similar that way and the value for money is still very high.

The owner, Mr Vu, is wonderful. When my bus was not stopping in Cai Be, he organized the way back and picked me up with his motorbike the last 5 km at 10 p.m. The rooms are very large, climatizised, the bed comfortable, the bathroom really fine and clean. It's at least 3*+. At the other side it's like a homestay. And Mr Vu nd his family help where they can. So it doesn't wonder, that there are a lot of guests who come here every year. I also will come back.

Superb location overlooking the river. This is a second generation family run hotel where you experience authentic Vietnam Airport or bus pick up and drop off are included, free cooking lessons and free bicycles, a delicious breakfast and dinner. The owner, Vu, can organize tours off the tourist track and tailor made to your interests. The whole family are genuinely welcoming and proud to show you the town they have always lived in and the country they love.

My friend and I will never forget our stay in Sao Mai Hotel. Vu and his family made us feel like we are a part of it. The cleanliness, comfort, warmth, amazing food, smiles - this place has it all! We also booked an incredible boat tour with them, very informative and atmospheric. I wish I could do it all over again!

Great people and great place to wander arround. They even help you with cheap local transportation from HCMC to their own door. They have free bikes to borrow. The dinner is yummy, a vast experience.

Fantastic stay, very good dinner cooked each night with excellent variety. Join in the cooking if you like and learn local dishes. If they are doing a tour of Cai Be with hotel guests, I highly recommend this tour. The tour is far better than what is available at CanTho. Breakfast is very good, eggs, fruit, bread. Feels like being welcomed by a family this stay. Extended my stay because I was comfortable there.

The host family is extremely welcoming and helpful. Vu Vu organized for us a wonderful trip on a boat through the Mekong, took us around local market, and we spent good time cooking together with his family.

VU was an exceptional host who took really good care of us. We felt at home in his hotel. He's also a great cook! He personally was our tour guide through the Mekong Delta, town market and local business where we tasted different fruits, drinks and local specialties. He arrenged the transportation to and from Mekong Delta. Excellent place to relax surrounded by lovely staff. We highly recommend to go.

Vu was a great host, he invited us with his own family to have lunch, he told us the main points of Cai Be to visit with the bicycle and he lend us some motorbikes. He was very warm and friendly. We requested to organize a boat tour through the Mekong which Vu organized and included also a smaller boat tour through the canals. The tour also included some small factories of different products in the local area.

If you want an authentic Mekong Delta experience, look no further! The lovely owner Vu and his family really go the extra mile to make your stay here worthwile. From the personal Mekong tour with Vu himself to the family dinners (both very reasonably priced) to the spontaneous visit to his father's fruit garden, everything was great. On top of this, the accommodation is also very comfortable and clean. Can only recommend staying at Sao Mai Hotel!

Vu is an amazing host. He welcomed us with open arms after being on the road all day. Vu's place is filled with great energy as he loves to welcome people into his hotel. How to describe our experience with Vu and his family! It was absolutely AMAZING!!! Forget about any tours and go to Sao Mai to enjoy an unforgettable experience. We enjoyed our last 2 days in Vietnam with them, taking us to local places, we ate local food at their house, visit their fruit garden, Vu explained us so many things about the way they live, their traditions, their culture....we experienced Mekong in such a beautiful and real way....I can't be more grateful! I read it in the reviews and it is so true.....It is not a hotel, it is an experience. Thank you beautiful family and we will definitely see you next time we are in Vietnam.

We did not stay long enough

Everything was just fine. Vu is very friendly and helpful. We have not meet anyone more welcoming than him in entire Vietnam. We had really great time! I definitely recommend to everyone, especially the boat tour with Vu :)

In the second day we did not have hot water, but it was not a big problem for us

Vu and his family were exceptional hosts. Vu catered so well for me as a vegetarian and went out of his way to tailor sightseeing trips to meet our needs.

You will find it difficult to find a better way to explore the real Mekong delta than to spend a few days with Mr Vu. He and his family were so welcoming, generous and fun to be with. Cycling with him to his fruit farm and the surrounding area was a real highlight. He and his mother cooked delicious food for us and his home stay was immaculate. We also had a great personalised trip on the river with him. only wish we had stayed longer!

The hosts were excellent, they really made us feel welcome and took us on serval tours of the local area including a river trip that was spectacular! The facilities at the hotel were also excellent for the low price. They also offer free use of the hosts push bikes to explore the area with which was very useful.

Mr. Vu is the soul of this wonderful place. He takes care of his guests like no one else. You don’t need to think about asking because he already prepare it. Vu organise everything you need with love, has a lot of humour, so you are always happy around him. The family team are also very kind and prepare the most delicious food. Ki, ki , the dog, is always around and he feels that he need to protect the guests, even that we are in a safe environment. The hotel is walking distance to a place where you can find a bit of everything and it is safe to walk around, even at night. Mekong river it is in front of the hotel. Breakfast is fresh and delicious with homemade products. We feel ourselves at home. Vu is honest and fare, take you to tours around delta and explain everything you need to know, and in a very good English, which is precious in a country that few people can talk good English. Thank you for your offers like coffee, fruit and water and for organising our way in and out of your place. hope we can visit you again.

During the days in Cai be, we had the chance to discover the city thanks to Vuvu. He helps us with everything (bus, activities…). It’s was not only an hotel but a experience in the Vuvu’s family.

Vu and his family were extremely welcoming, the air-conditioned room very spacious and comfortable, and the home-cooked food just delicious (you can help prepare it and learn how it’s done!). To boot, Vu was super-helpful in arranging for transport from and to HCMC and his tours are lots of fun, while offering real insights into life in the Delta.

The property is located in a quite place but close to everywhere.

Mr Vu and his family (his mom and sister) are so warm and lovely people. The home cooked meals were yummy. Mr Vu arranged a river boat for a 5-6hrs cruise with various stops to a local market, fish farm, popcorn making. We took a smaller boat on a tributary.

A decent family hotel in a good location with excellent people running the business. Not only did we get to stay in a beautiful place for a fair price, but the staff took their personal time to show us around the area. Recommended.

Spacious and clean rooms with air conditioner what you definitely need. Super nice staff and a hotel where you could easily relax a few days. Mekong Delta tours are nice but they tend to stop at shops or factories where they more or less force you to buy something or give tips. It was so uncomfortable that we didn’t enter the last shop. The tours through the Delta itself are nice and a must. Maybe you make it clear at the hotel that you come for the nature and culture and not to shop and avoid the experiences we made.

The hotel room and bathroom were clean, spacious, and well equipped. What really made the stay fabulous however, was the owner Vu and his family. Vu welcomed us like family and provided the most fun days and nights we’ve had in a long time. He provided a tour of his family’s fruit farm, showed us around town, and led us on a great tour. Having free bicycles to use was also very convenient. The breakfast was great and we were also able to eat a wonderful dinner prepared by his family each night. Easily one of our favorite stays we’ve had in our 10 months of travel. Don’t hesitate to stay here, you won’t regret it! Thanks for the best time, Vu!!

The stay and hosts were both amazing! We went to Sao Mai hotel as a family trip to visit Cai Be, and were welcomed by super friendly people running the hotel. Vu and his sister were incredibly nice to us, planned the whole trip and tour, and provided many solutions to our needs. The hotel is super nice, and offers clean rooms, tasty food and great entertainment! 😁 Vu took us on a tour, and it was incredible! I loved the one night I spent at this homestay. The host went above and beyond to make sure I had a great time and all the information I needed. He even taking us out on a boat tour with just the other hotel guests which was great fun. I really felt so welcome and cared for. The lodging themselves are very spacious and comfortable and I thought offered good value for money. I liked that they provided all the meals at a small cost because not so many places to eat around.

The bike I borrowed althiugh it was so nice it was for free it wasn't in great condition and quite difficult to ride.

When we arrived at the hotel, Mr. Vu was waiting for us. The first thing he told us was that for him guests are not just clients, but family. And that's exactly how it was.
