We loved the location, the owner Sandy was very friendly, very helpful and hospitable.

Prachtige kamer met zeezicht, je loopt zo het strand op. Personeel erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam.

Das einzig schöne an dieser Anlage ist die Lage und der Strand, Meerblick und die nette angestellte Dame die sich um alles dort kümmert.

Das Entree von der Straße wirkt durcheinander und voller Sperrmüll. Die vorderen beiden Bungalows haben einen wunderschönen Meerblick. Das ist aber auch das einzig schöne. Die Bungalows liegen in praller Sonne, es gibt keine Palme, Bäume ect. die ein wenig Schatten davor spenden. Man sitzt vor seinem Bungalow auf dem Präsentierteller der Bar. Die ganze Anlage hat vorn am Meer eine Parkplatzathmossphäre mit abendlichem Neonlicht. Bei unserer ankunft lag Hundekot auf der Wiese vor unserem Bungalow. Es ist alles alt und gehört renoviert. Die Klobürste steht unhygienisch einfach auf den Fliesen und die Duschabtrennung ist ein altes Rankgitter. Die Betten sind uralt und hart. Auf den ersten Blick scheint es sauber. Wir sind vorzeitig abgereist. Nach einer Nacht hatten wir so starken Juckreiz, so das wir nachts davon wach wurden und hatten am ganzen Körper stark juckende Pusteln. Dank der bunten Bettwäsche war das Problem nicht sofort ersichtlich. In der Apotheke auf Koh Chang wussten sie sofort was uns dort passiert war. Die Chefin ermahnte unseren Sohn nicht so lange draussen nach dem Baden im Meer zu duschen. Wohlfühlathmosphäre und Gastfreundschaft Fehlanzeige. Es gibt kein Frühstück was bei dem Preis für eine Übernachtung schon angemessen wäre. Wir haben auf der anderen Seite der Insel die Tage zuvor für den gleichen Preis eine sehr luxuriöse wunderschöne Unterkunft gehabt mit Meerblick, Pool, a la Carte Frühstück ect. So etwas wie hier haben wir in Thailand noch nie erlebt.

Prachtig aan het strand. Bungalow simpel, maar meer heb je niet nodig. Super lekker eten! Naast het resort zit nog een super leuke bar met hippie vibe:)

The staff were very nice and service minded. Located just on the beach that was cleaned from debris everyday. Clean water and soft sand..Very quiet and serene.

The resort is old and not well maintained. Water in bathroom flowing out on the floor, lights not working, beds hard. It has potential but it needs to be better taken care of.

Tout…joli bungalow , spacieux, propre , entouré de verdure ,à 2 mn de la plage…bar..pizza excellente !! Le personnel aimable et souriant ! Pas très loin à pied du centre !! Très bon séjour calme et reposant !!

Prévoir un produit contre les sandflies …voraces !!

Sehr gute Lage, alles fussläufig erreichbar wie Shops und Restaurants. Die Bungalows mit Meerblick sind fantastisch. Mofas zum Ausleihen vorhanden. Service super. Immer Absprechen wenn etwas gewünscht wird.

Rundum zufrieden. Würden wir wieder buchen.

Et rigtig fint lille sted. Meget hyggelige omgivelser og værelset var rent og pænt. Super fin strand Personalet var rigtig søde og imødekommende.

De plek direct aan zee.🌊 Lieve mensen. Lekker eten.

Alles was prima. Er zijn bungalows met uitzicht op zee en achter op t terrein een gebouw met 4 kamers die op zich vrij klein zijn, daar zaten wij. Volgende keer zou ik voor de bungalow gaan.

The rooms are very clean. For a resort next to the beach, it has a really good room, clean toilets, and extremely friendly staff. It has a really laidback environment and it is definitely worth the stay. The beach is extremely clean and well maintained.

Don’t be alarmed, but in the middle of the night, there are some bats fooling around on top of the roof. But that’s all good, since it’s an island anyways.

Unser Aufenthalt im Sabai auf Koh Mak hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Die Lage direkt am Meer ist wunderschön und die Atmosphäre insgesamt sehr ruhig und entspannt. Wir hatten einen einfachen, aber gemütlichen Bungalow. Es gab keinen klassischen Zimmerservice, stattdessen standen jeden Tag zwei Flaschen Wasser und Kaffee-Tütchen vor der Tür – für uns völlig in Ordnung. Insgesamt hatten wir eine sehr schöne Zeit dort und würden wiederkommen. 🌴

Das Einzige, was etwas gestört hat, waren die Sandfliegen. Die gibt es allerdings überall auf Koh Mak. Ein guter Tipp: sich mit Kokosnussöl einreiben, das hilft tatsächlich ein bisschen.

Located right on the beach, excellent staff, good food and service could not have picked a better place

Lage, Preis-Leistung, Größe von Zimmer, tolle Aussicht. Alles bissl in die Jahre gekommen aber dadurch so bissle den alten Thailand Charakter von früher dabei. Für Lage und Aussicht echt günstig.

So ganz konnte man uns es nicht erklären, zu unserem Aufenthalt war der Chef? nicht da weil im Krankenhaus. Man hatte so ein bissl das Gefühl, dass man dann nicht so ganz wusste was eigentlich zu tun ist. Frühstück gab's nicht obwohl das Restaurant sehr gut sein soll... Auch stand man bei der Ankunft mit 2 Kids da und wusste nicht wohin mit Gepäck aber der Staff kam nicht auf die Idee uns mit dem Gepäck zu helfen. Er ging leer wir zweimal.

Es war super! Freundliches Personal. Speziell zu erwähnen die Frau aus Kambodscha und der junge Kellner. Mein Bungalow mit Meerblick. Die Lage am (gepflegten) Strand mit den sehr bequemen Liegen. Der Sonnenuntergang mit einem Drink vom Strand aus. Hier noch 2-3 Tips, falls das Personal vergisst, diese beim einchecken zu erwähnen: - gegen die Sandflies steht an der Reception Kokosnussöl zur Verfügung. Bsp. Knöchel einreiben und man sollte geschützt sein. (Ich hatte keine Probleme) - falls man möchte, dass das Zimmer häufiger als alle 3 Tage gereinigt wird: einfach sagen. - gilt ebenfalls, falls man mehr Toilettenpapier benötigt. Ich würde sofort wieder dort buchen. Merci beaucoup Sandie et son team🙏

Good location Welcoming atmosphere

We spent 4 nights there in Jan 2026. The beach is gorgeous, facilities are excellent, rooms unbelievably good. Whole resort is top notch jn a lovely naturalistic way - think bamboo and driftwood, not glass and brushed aluminium! The whole feel of the resort helps you to relax and enjoy the outstanding beauty of the area. Staff are super friendly, without being over zealous to please. Personally, I think this the best part of the island to stay having driven across most of Koh Mak today in a golf buggy and visited some of the other resorts. Don’t get me wrong, they were beautiful too, just not as well appointed and connected to Koh Mak life like Sabai Beach Resort. Thoroughly recommend and I will definitely return one day.

Prachtig resort aan een rustig strand. Comfortabele huisjes met een mooi uitzicht op zee. Het restaurant serveert zowel heerlijke Thaise als westerse gerechten. De gezellige bar biedt een ruime keuze aan drankjes, shakes, smoothies en cocktails. Het personeel is bijzonder vriendelijk en altijd behulpzaam.

This hotel is a little gem. If you are looking for a low-key beachfront hotel, this is a great choice. It's close to shops and restaurants, but is very quiet and the rooms are big and clean. I loved watching the sunset at the beach bar.

It's at the beach, close to the restaurants and a good massage place. The host is friendly.

If you book a room there is lack of privacy because all 4 entrances have the same patio. You can hear the please chatting there, unfortunately people are smoking at the patio and the smoke goes to the room. People are also smoking at the bar and there is no ower reaction. I would not book it again because of this smoking policy.

Good value for money, perfect room right on the beach.

Położenie, widok, wspaniały bar obok ośrodka, mnóstwo dobrych restauraxyjek w okolicy, możliwość wczesnego zameldowania, piękna, niemal pusta plaża, spokój i cisza.

Domek jest dość skromny i trochę zużyty. Zostawiono nam po jednym ręczniku na osobę na dwa dni. W łóżku gryzące mrówki.

Le personnel était très charmant et toujours disponible si nous avions besoin de quoi que ce soit. Nous avons pu louer un scooter directement sur place, ce qui est toujours arrangeant. La proximité avec la mer est un plus également et l'île se parcours très facilement depuis l'hôtel qui en plus est situé à 10min du port. Nombreux outils mis à disposition afin de se nettoyer avant de rentrer dans les chambres avec les pieds et le corps pleins de sable.

Nous avons dormi 3 nuits sur place et le ménage n'a été effectué aucune fois malgré nos demandes, on nous a simplement expliqué que le ménage était fait tous les 2,3 jours. Nous avons dû réclamer du papier toilette par exemple et nous aurions apprécié qu'au moins un petit coup de balai soit effectué tous les jours, pas forcément changer les draps, changer les serviettes etc...

Il cibo non era un granché. Si trova di meglio nei ristoranti della zona. Bisogna ricordare di fare le pulizie della camera, altrimenti lo dimenticano. L'acqua della doccia rovente.

Such a hidden gem - amazing offer for the price, right on the beach. I had the garden room, and I have to say it was a really good choice. It really looks like the resort is run but women because they have great attention to details. The room has a hair dryer, a small fridge and even mosquito nets - so you can sleep without AC and wake up with the sound of the birds. Good internet speed (they even have a 5G network). The beach is also very nice, plenty of beach chairs and amazing sunsets.

Would be great to have the option to pay by card (even with extra fee) since there is only 1 atm on the entire island

Läget på hotellet - det ligger precis intill stranden. Hotellet är enkelt, inget extravagant alls, men man betalar därefter så på det sättet är det rätt prisvärt. Det finns ett litet 'centrum' med restauranger - tar endast fem minuter att promenera dit. Där kan man hyra cyklar, mopeder och 'golfbilar'. Hjälpsam personal.

Fruktansvärt hård säng. Vi fick en bäddmadrass som gjorde sängen aningen bättre men den var fortfarande hård. Sandflugorna är besvärliga men det är ju inte hotellets fel. Hotellet har kokosolja och myggspray framme som gästerna kan använda fritt - vilket är bra.

Bed slightly too hard

Mieszkaliśmy w domku z widokiem na morze. Zastrzeżeń brak. Największym atutem jest piękna plaża z osłoniętymi od słońca leżakami. Restauracja jest na miejscu, ale ośrodek jest blisko "centrum", więc w pobliżu jest więcej punktów żywieniowych i sklepów.

Bellissimi appartamentini indipendenti in riva al mare su quest'isola meravigliosa. Personale gentilissimo, con disponibilità di kayak, sup e scooter per girare l'isola. Ah l'isola è senza serrature, fantastico!

Sadly all staff was on holidays due to the end of the high season, bar and restaurant was shut. But Sandie made sure we were ok.

Very friendly staff! Great facilities! The only issue were the sand flies. I got so many itchy bites and it was very unpleasant.

Small resort at the quiet end of the beach. Just 2 beachfront and a further 2 set back "beachfront" chalets as the picture, and a further 4 ground floor rooms in a block behind. Nice small garden area through which you walk 20m to the beach of very fine sand. There's a nice beach bar serving a limited range of food and drinks. Enough shaded sun beds for the residents. There are a number of restaurants within walking distance of the resort, perhaps 400m. These include an excellent vegan restaurant ,"Pak Pak", with especially good breakfast dishes.

Sand flies. Beware, these things live in the sand and too small to see. You are unaware that you are bitten, the reaction on the skin only erupts after some time, and can remain itchy for weeks. Take precautions: read about how to manage the problem before visiting Koh Mak.

- Very friendly staff. Many thanks to Sandie and her great time for making our stay perfect. - Amazing beach with excellent access to the sea. Charming sunsets. Beautiful view from the seaside cottages. - Beach and sea ideal for families with small children. - Sand perfect for building sandcastles. Beach loungers - IMHO the best and the quiest part of the island, but at the same time close access to restaurants, grocery store, massage spa, pharmacy and other services.

I wish the resort could offer more breakfast options. Keep the finger crossed for that!

Hard bed

The location was amazing. The bed was very comfortable and the Aircon was perfect.

Our toilet bin not being emptied.... Yes we should've asked but it should be a given due to the toilet paper situation. Also there should be a mirror and a socket together to be able to dry hair.

Beachfront villa has clear view of sea and beach. Mosquito nets on windows in good working order. Walking distance to restaurants.

Shower sprays water everywhere in bathroom & stays wet. Toilet blocks every day. There is a plunger left next to the toilet which has to be used daily. Sandflies despite daily raking of beach area and using sunbeds provided by the resort. Bathroom could be updated.

Sandie, the owner, is a gem. She was welcoming, helpful, and takes pride in her place. I came back late on my first night there and she and a friend were dancing to French music on the beach. They saw me, welcomed me, and danced with me. I am not a good dancer under the best of conditions and had just blown out my knee in Bangkok, but they couldn't care less. They were celebrating a friend who was leaving the next day. Both ladies were really amazing. Koh Mak is a magical place where things like this just see to happen. I had great conversations and made deep connections with a number of people there from all over the world in my short, four night stay. The resort is family friendly and also great for solo travelers. There is happy hour on the beach every night along with the other bars and restaurants on that stretch of the coast. People gather nightly to have a drink and watch the spectacular sunsets. The beach pristine with a stunning view. I rode to fourteen beaches all along the coast on a scooter one day and found none as nice as that at Sabai Beach Resort. Once the sun sets and families go to bed, there are plenty of places within a few minutes walk or scoot to stay up late and eat and drink late into the night if you are so inclined. Most places close around ten, but if you ask around you'll find places like The Art House Bar, which has a chill vibe and often has live music, and Koh Mak Sports Bar, which is teeming with interesting travelers and transplants from across the globe. I will be returning, possibly long term. Koh Mak called to me and I fell in love with it. Sabai Beach Resort was a catalyst for that wanderlust romance. Merci, Sandie. Say "bonjour" to your beautiful friend.

I had to leave.

The location, the vast sandy beach , the sunsets and happy hour. Close to street food, restaurants, massage and convenient stores. The villa was perfect with daisies on the towels, big comfy bed and tucked in the trees like a jungle. I cried with joy when the taxi dropped me off.

Breakfast was a bit expensive.

Perfect location, close to a beautiful beach and within walking distance of most activities on the island – bars, restaurants, etc. The receptionist was very helpful, arranging a taxi to and from the pier as well as a motorbike rental for us. The room was spacious, well-equipped, and quiet at night. A great place to stay – highly recommended.

We enjoyed our stay there very much. Perfect location. Super nice staff. Very good food (go for the seafood pizza). Yes there are sandflys and mosquitos but there are plenty options to protect yourself as well. We did not have any problems with both. Hopefully it was not our last visit

The beach can be very dirty with trash when it’s windy but I saw the resort owner cleans up the beach in the morning

We were upgraded to a bungalow due to overbooking.... thank you. The bungalow & bathroom was clean, very spacious, fairly well equipped and had some books to read which was a nice touch. Fairly good WiFi. Reasonable air con. Well designed fly screens to prevent bugs. Bedside lighting is a nice touch. A bit of a sea view. Nice restaurant/ cafe area and loungers right on beach. We got fresh towels & water when we asked.

Bathroom felt a bit dated and in need of an upgrade. In fact lots of things about the resort are starting to feel a little frayed at the edges compared to other resorts so we ended up hanging out nearer the pier where the beach and atmosphere felt nicer. Some cosmetic tidying up of the landscaping would definitely help. Maybe it's because Sabai is at the end of the strip and feels like the less well kept area of the beach. It could just be the time of year but there was a LOT of litter on the beach and in the sea. The resorts all do their bit but personally I also picked up litter every day. Maybe more litter hero baskets all along the beach so everyone can do their bit?? Next to Sabai is an abandoned lot with so much litter collecting on the beach... whilst we realise this isn't anything to do with Sabai, it still has a direct impact on guests and ultimately lead to us leaving Koh Mak and returning to Koh Chang which we felt was far cleaner.
