Stay Golden

Pomer ceny a kvality tohto ubytovania žiaľ hodnotím ako neadekvátny. Cena bola vzhľadom na ponúkané služby výrazne nadsadená a nezahŕňala ani raňajky. Na Srí Lanke sme pritom za nižšiu sumu dostali ubytovanie na podstatne vyššej úrovni, a to vrátane raňajok. Kúpanie v oceáne tu nie je možné, a to nielen počas nášho pobytu. Do vody sa dá ísť jedine ráno do 9:00, a to bez prítomnosti plavčíka či akéhokoľvek dozoru, čo je riziko, ktoré asi nie každý bude ochotný podstúpiť. Nevyužili sme ani bazén, pretože voda v ňom bola kalná a tvorili sa v nej bublinky, čo v nás nevzbudzovalo dôveru. Veľmi nepríjemným zážitkom bola uhynutá korytnačka na pláži priamo pri ubytovaní, ktorá šírila zápach. Očakávala by som, že ubytovanie takúto situáciu promptne vyrieši. Ani samotný areál nepôsobil príliš čisto a udržiavane. Keďže sme cestovali traja, zámerne som si rezervovala väčšiu, a teda aj drahšiu izbu. Tretie lôžko však tvorila poschodová posteľ vsunutá do úzkeho priechodu, kde sa človek musel neustále zohýbať, a hlavu či nohu sme si udreli neraz. Nepríjemným prekvapením bola aj kúpeľňa, ktorá namiesto dverí mala len záves, čo pri troch osobách výrazne obmedzovalo súkromie. Celkovo pobyt nenaplnil naše očakávania a vzhľadom na cenu by som toto ubytovanie odporučila len s veľkými výhradami.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​

Zeer fijn verblijf gehad in de bungalow. We verbleven hier samen met ons zoontje van 1.5 jaar. De eigenaren hebben zelf ook twee jonge kinderen waardoor het hotel en het personeel hier goed op was ingericht. Het zwembad is fijn, en je bent snel in het centrum van Arugam Bay met de fiets (gratis) of met de tuktuk service van het hotel (500 rupies enkele rit). Er worden ook surf- en yogalessen aangeboden, maar hier hebben wij geen gebruik van gemaakt. Wij kunnen het verblijf hier zeker aanraden!

Great relaxed atmosphere and fantastic amenities - swimming pool, hammocks, cabanas, bicycles, scooters, surfboards, yoga studio, and lovely restaurant onsite. Very friendly staff. Short walk into town with the main surf break, bars and restaurants. We did a few surf sessions with Allan, who is a great instructor. Highly recommend a stay here, our best in Sri Lanka. We would definitely come back.

Wir müssten leider kurzfristig aus persönlichen Gründen stornieren, als wir schon vor Ort waren. Rihan und Angie waren sehr verständnisvoll und das ganze Team hat uns noch einen schönen Nachmittag beschert, bevor wir los mussten. Unser Häuschen wäre ein Traum gewesen! Sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet mit viel Platz und einem Bad wie ich es mir daheim wünschen würde! Pool und Essen waren toll und alle unwahrscheinlich nett. Alles wäre eine kurze Tuktuk-Fahrt vom Trubel die optimale Erholung gewesen. Um den Kummer zu lindern konnte ich mir sogar noch eine Yogastunde buchen. Hätten wir bleiben können, hätte ich das jeden Tag gemacht! Zum Baby und Main Point konnte man gut laufen. Wir werden das auf jeden Fall nochmal in vollen Zügen genießen und wieder kommen!

Très compliqué pour moi d’évaluer notre séjour de deux nuits au Stay Golden. Cet hôtel m’avait été recommandé pour rester à Arugam bay qui est très animée en étant au calme et à l’écart de l’agitation. Malheureusement nous avons eu beaucoup de mal à trouver le calme car nous y étions en août donc au pic d’intensité pour cette partie du Sri Lanka et il y avait beaucoup d’enfants, de musique et de bruit continu qui ne laissait pas beaucoup de répit pour se reposer. Cet établissement m’avait été recommandé par deux amies enseignantes de yoga comme moi, et je m’attendais à un lieu propice au calme. D’autant que pour le Sri Lanka c’est un hôtel très cher, près de 300$ par nuit sur booking sans petit déjeuner à cette période de haute saison. Je viens régulièrement au Sri Lanka et j’ai eu l’occasion de rester dans des lieux très simples et des hôtels de luxe. À mon sens le stay golden est totalement sur évalué en termes de prix au regard de la prestation. À noter que la nourriture est excellente et le staff adorable (comme souvent au Sri Lanka vous êtes très bien accueillis). Et j’ai écrit pour le sujet du bruit au propriétaire, le staff adorable a ensuite fait de son mieux pour veiller à ce que le lieu soit plus calme. Notre deuxième jour et nuit a donc été plus sereine et reposante. Ce séjour dans cet établissement était le cadeau pour l’anniversaire de mon fils qui s’attendait à vivre une expérience haut de gamme et nous avons quand même été vraiment déçus. Nous remercions cependant l’équipe de nous avoir écouté et d’avoir tout fait pour améliorer les choses pendant notre séjour

Le bruit constant à la piscine, avec des enfants jouant et sautant dans l’eau en permanence plus la musique. Notre douche s’évacuait très mal nous avons dû faire intervenir le staff. Le placard de notre chambre était abîmé, une partie du bois arraché. Les transats de plage sont inutilisables en raison du vent constant et sont très abîmés. Si vous y réservez éviter la cabane familiale deluxe près de la piscine (la 10) car c’est vraiment bruyant en continu à partir de 13h. Je n’ai pas fait de yoga sur place alors que j’en avais l’intention car avec la musique permanente juste en dessous du shala je ne voyais pas bien comment cela allait être un moment propice à se centrer.

Soms wat winderig, wat vaak minder was bij het strand in het centrum. Lokatie iets verder van het centrum, maar je was er zo met tuk tuk of 10 min lopen.

I spend hours researching where to stay in Arugam Bay before coming - reading all reviews, checking pics etc etc. So let me save you the time! My family stayed for 3 nights and returned for another night a few days later. Can’t recommend this place more; - a short tuk tuk ride for small price to down means it js always quiet and perfect for families to chill in the evening away from parties (unlike place in town which was SO loud all night with music, fireworks nearby etc. - pool is epic and kids played for hrs there - food was great (chicken was really good quality also) and i recommend the guacamole with papadams for a yummy snack! - staff and owners were so lovely and friendly, arranged transport, gave recommendations and welcomed us back the second time - rooms had all the toiletries you need and were clean and cool with A/C. Kids particularly liked the family room with the double bunks the second stay so there were no fights for who got the top bunk! 🤣 Overall really think this is great! Thanks guys for having us (twice!)

I should note that the beach directly out front can be dangerous for swimming so stick to pool or go to main beach.

The only small recommendation would be for the length of bed to be bigger as I am 6 ft. Comfortable bed but just a little too short. Not a big thing though.

Hele fijne en schone cabanas, precies groot genoeg voor ons gezin (twee volwassenen en twee kinderen). Locatie is perfect: aan het strand en net buiten het (te) drukke gedeelte van Arugam Bay (met een Tuktuk ben je overal binnen 5-10 minuten). Kleinschalig en daardoor persoonlijk opgezet, wat wij erg fijn vinden. In het gemeenschappelijke (horeca) gedeelte hangt een hele fijne en ontspannen sfeer. De menukaart is uitstekend, we hebben daardoor meerdere keren gegeten en geluncht bij het hotel zelf. En last but not least: heel mooi en vooral groot zwembad! Onze kinderen vonden dit fantastisch.

Rustig, maar toch dichtbij het centrum. Ruime keuze op menukaart, lekker eten en sapjes. Wij vonden het zwembad een meerwaarde om af te koelen. Er is gedacht aan details, zoals een strandtas met handdoeken, een extra vergrootspiegel in de badkamer, een kom water aan de ingang van de kamer om het zand van je voeten af te wassen en stopcontacten met Europese stekker. Wij hebben de safari in Kumana gedaan, boottocht in mangrove (vonden we minder interessant) en surfen via accomodatie.

Op zich was alles goed. Airco (in cabana) had moeite om te kamer te koelen, maar was voldoende als je deze heel de dag liet draaien. Basic inrichting van (bad)kamer. Zee aan de accomodatie was erg wild, maar 15min verder (te voet) kon je surfen. Surfspot was erg druk.

Stay Golden was excellent!! The rooms are spacious and clean and the bed was very comfortable. We were in a bungalow which felt very private, and we enjoyed the use of our own hammock and swing. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant had an extensive menu and everything was yum. An easy walk into town, or the staff could organise a TukTuk and the property is right on the beach (although not a swimming beach). A laundry service was available for a small fee. Pool and beach towels were provided and changed daily. We loved our stay here and would definitely choose Stay Golden again.

In the bungalow the bathroom is separated by a curtain and not a door. Not a negative but something to be aware of.

מיקום המלון מרוחק מעט מהעיר מה שנותן שקט אבל מצריך ניוד בטוקטוק או קטנוע בכל פעם שרוצים משהו, הדרך אל העיר משובשת ומאטה את הנסיעה הבריכה יפה ונעימה אבל המים לא היו מספיק צלולים התארחנו אבא ובת ולא היינו מודעים לכך שהמקלחת היא חלק מהחדר ורק זכוכית חלבית מפרידה, זה היה קצת מביך המיטה בחדר מס' 8 קצרה מדיי- הרגליים שלי היו בחוץ.

This is a beautiful place to stay in a quiet part of town. Everything you need is here and the staff are very accommodating. By far the cleanest place I’d stayed and best facilities in Sri Lanka. Not far to get to the main part of town and they have bikes, surfboards and onsite yoga classes.

This property is absolutely amazing! The rooms are clean, big, and I love that there are hammocks with the rooms. The food on site was delicious. We ate there every morning and lunch time. It’s reasonably priced and the staff was so attentive and took very good care of us. The pool was huge and the kids played it in everyday after surfing. It’s about 15 min walk to downtown and a short tuktuk ride if you don’t want to walk. Just so you know you can NOT swim in the ocean. The waves are huge and the current very strong. We surfed at other locations and came back to swim in pool so it wasn’t a big deal for us but for others it might be. Thank you for an amazing stay and I wish to return one day.

Really kind and friendly staff (thank you so much!!), room was clean, happy hour cocktails were great, nice pool area especially in the heat. Location was about a 15 minute walk to town.

The 6 person room had an odd layout which meant the AC was only of use in the bedroom and not the back section with the wardrobe and toilet or the front entrance with the shower and toilet. The AC in the cabana didn’t work super well but was bearable. The pool had lots of boatmen bugs but still usable. Food at the restaurant was average and could definitely be improved for the price. However all these things were fairly minor overall and I would definitely go back!

Wir hatten einen wunderschönen Aufenthalt und haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt. Der Bungalow ist mit viel Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet, besonders praktisch fanden wir den Hocker am Waschbecken für Kinder sowie die großzügigen Ablageflächen, dieStrandtasche. Man merkt sofort, dass Angie ein besonderes Flair für Einrichtung und Komfort hat. Besonders gefallen hat uns die familiäre Atmosphäre. Die ganze Familie ist unglaublich herzlich und jederzeit für Fragen oder Anliegen da. Dadurch fühlt man sich nicht wie ein Gast in einem Hotel, sondern fast wie zu Besuch bei Freunden. Klimaanlage und WLAN haben im gesamten Hotel jederzeit einwandfrei funktioniert. Das Essen war fantastisch, sodass wir jeden Tag im Hotelrestaurant gegessen haben. Für Familien mit Kindern ist das Hotel ideal: Es gibt einen Kinderpool, einen Spielplatz und verschiedene Spiele. Der ruhige Strand direkt vor dem Hotel war nahezu menschenleer und wir hatten ihn oft ganz für uns allein. Zum drachensteigen, muschelsammeln und Spaziergänge. Zum Baden ist das Meer in Sri Lanka allerdings nur eingeschränkt für kleine Kinder geeignet. Wir haben zudem zweimal eine Safari über das Hotel gebucht, beide Ausflüge waren hervorragend organisiert und preislich absolut fair. Auch die Yoga-Stunden waren wunderbar ✨ Insgesamt ein traumhafter Aufenthalt, den wir gerne weiterempfehlen. Gerade die Kombination aus der wunderschönen Anlage, dem hervorragenden Essen und der herzlichen, familiären Betreuung macht diesen Ort zu etwas ganz Besonderem.

Excellent hospital. Above and beyond to make my stay as comfortable and effortless as possible. Very welcoming, and the outdoor space/pool/restaurant is such a blessing during the hot midday hours. Yoga on site also a big plus!

Beautiful beach front location with a pool 15mins from the hustle of Arugam. The cabanas are clean and spacious with lots of thoughtful little details to make your stay more comfortable. Everything you need from surf coaching to safari can be arranged directly from the hotel. The staff are super friendly and helpful too.

We really loved Stay Golden. From the moment we got there, the service from the owners as well as every staff member was outstanding. Our family suite was beautiful and had everything we needed. The restaurant had great food and an amazing relaxed atmosphere. I loved the yoga classes also. The resort is great for all ages whether you are a young traveller or a family. The resort sits on a beautiful stretch of beach that is just a short walk to town and the main surf break. We would return for sure!

Stay Golden is one of the best places to stay at Arugam Bay. It’s probably the best place close to Main Point, in case you are there for the surfing, which was my case. It’s a 15min walk to the surf spot. Everything worked pretty well at the hotel. Room was spacious, very clean, well decorated, with excellent bed, quiet ac and nice bathroom. Staff was amazing, always smiling and ready to help you. Even though there are many places to go out for lunch and dinner at town, Stay Golden restaurant was high score. Had one of the best meals around. Breakfast options were very good too.

My only topic here was the amount of flies in the restaurant. I know this kind of thing usually happens when you have an open restaurant, but believe me, sometimes I thought they would fly my meal away…it was very annoying. I also had to deal with this problem at my own restaurant in my home town and we could fix it…so I guess owners should look for an alternative there too.

Die Anlage war sehr gepflegt und super schön. Das Zimmer war auch wunderschön. Das Personal war total nett und das Essen war super lecker. Insgesamt haben wir den Aufenthalt sehr genossen.

Es gibt nur zwei Kleinigkeiten die ein ganz bisschen doof waren. Das Bett war etwas kurz ca. 1.85cm und leider ist das Meer vor der Anlage etwas rau, man kann dort nicht so leicht schwimmen oder surfen. Ansonsten war aber alles super.

Het was onze beste verblijf in Sri Lanka, super leuk om zo'n hip strandhuisje te delen met het gezin. De kamers waren zeer comfortabel en het personeel super oprecht en vriendelijk. Onze kinderen hebben zich fantastisch vermaakt met de kids van de eigenaren en het zwembad. Het eten en drinken was goed en uitgebreide keuze. De prijzen voor sommige producten waren wel aan de hoge kant. Zoals een koffie voor €2,70 vind ik in Sri Lanka prijzig.

Er viel absoluut niks tegen! Ga zo door en hopelijk mogen jullie nog lang deze plek hosten!

The staff were always so friendly, the pool is definitely a massive plus to this property, the rooms were very clean and very comfortable, always hot water and good pressure. The food in the restaurant was amazing every meal we had was superb.

The accommodation is clean, modern, and very well maintained. The service is excellent, and the staff are extremely friendly, always willing to help with anything you need. The property features a large swimming pool and direct access to the beach, which makes the stay even more enjoyable. As for the food, there is a wide variety of options and everything is delicious. Overall, nothing but praise for this place.

Everything - the amenities, the staff and also the food

Der Strand-Bungalow hat uns sehr gefallen, es ist toll eingerichtet, groß und verfügt über alles was man braucht. Der Strand ist wunderschön und war aufgrund der Nebensaison herrlich leer. Es stehen überdachte Sonnenliegen zur Verfügung (diese erschienen teilweise etwas in die Jahre gekommen). Schwimmen im Meer ist aufgrund des Wellengangs nicht gut möglich, es gibt jedoch einen schönen Pool der für Abkühlung sorgt und Platz für kurze Bahnen bietet. Das Team war sehr nett und wir fühlten uns sehr wohl. Aufgrund der Nebensaison hatten nur wenige Restaurants in der Umgebung geöffnet, das war jedoch nicht weiter schlimm weil man im Hotel eigentlich alles bekommt was man braucht. Wir konnten unkompliziert und zu einem fairen Preis einen Roller mieten, Fahrräder stehen kostenfrei zur Verfügung.

Die Unterkunft erschien uns sehr Familien- und Kinderfreundlich, es war immer gut was los und laut aufgrund spielender und tobender Kinder. Uns hat das überhaupt nicht gestört, für einen längeren Aufenthalt wäre es aber etwas was ich (als kinderloses Paar im Urlaub) wissen wollen würde.

Der private Zugang zum Strand, das komplette organisieren aller Ausflüge hat alles sehr unkompliziert für uns gemacht. Wir hatten nie das Gefühl das es während des Aufenthalts mal langweilig geworden ist. Die Zimmer waren super modern und stilvoll eingerichtet. Wir haben hier superfreundliche Menschen kennengelernt und können es jedem nur weiterempfehlen. Wir waren schon in einigen asiatischen Ländern, aber das Stück Natur welches man hier zu sehen bekommt ist atemberaubend.

Das stay golden hat unsere Erwartungen bei weitem übertroffen. Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sogar verlängert. Wer ein kleines mit Liebe geführtes Resort sucht ist hier genau richtig. Freundlich, sauber, familiär, sehr gute Küche ,traumhafte Umgebung. Die Cabanas und Zimmer sind mit vielen, für Asien nicht selbstverständlichen Details ausgestattet (Föhn, Safe, Stauraum, Strandtasche, mehrere Ventilatoren trotz AC. Ich schreibe so gut wie nie Bewertungen, aber dieser Ort hat mich auf ganzer Linie überzeugt. Das einzig negative ist, dieses Paradies irgendwann verlassen zu müssen. #enjoythebeachlife ;D

La chambre était très confortable, bien éclairée, bien aménagée (même s’il n’y a pas de porte entre la salle de bain et la chambre), la climatisation fonctionnait bien, tout était propre, ménage à tous les jours. À notre arrivée nous avons demandé un hamac sur notre terrasse et il a été installé dans les minutes suivantes. Très efficace. Belle piscine. La plage est magnifique, propre et tranquille. Le personnel est très accueillant et attentionné! Beau séjour!

Ce ne sont pas des deal-breakers, mais l’hébergement n’est pas front de mer comme mentionné sur booking, la plage est à 250 mètres. Mais cette petite marche de 3 minutes est très agréable. Le point le plus négatif selon moi, c’est le prix du des plats du restaurant sur place. C’est facilement de 2 à 3 fois plus cher qu’ailleurs et pas nécessairement meilleur parce que très peu goûteux.

We had a fantastic stay here- as a group of 9 they went above and beyond for us. The staff were so helpful and kind. The food was incredible and so reasonably priced. Perfect location just a short walk along the beach to Main point the most incredible surf break. Thankyou team we will be back for sure.

We had a brilliant time at Stay Golden. Arugam Bay was the highlight of our Sri Lanka trip. Angie, Rihan and the rest of the team were so lovely. They arranged an incredible surf class, lagoon tour and safari trip. We saw elephants, crocodiles and amazing birds! The lagoon tour in particular was absolutely amazing, as we went out at sunset with a fisherman on a very simple boat with no engine and felt very at one with nature! It was pure magic. The hotel location is fantastic. It's just a 5 mins cycle to the main high street on the free pedal bikes courtesy of the hotel, or a 10 minute walk. So you have easy access but also the peace and tranquility of the hotel to escape to. Beautiful facilities and also delicious food and drinks. Can't recommend highly enough!

The cabins are beautiful, impeccably clean, comfortable and very tasteful decor, the nicest place I stayed in Sri Lanka. Good food and nice pool, close to beach. Staff are very relaxed and friendly. Highly recommend, if even just for one night.

Location a bit far out of town for solo female traveller but can also use bikes and short tuktuk to town.

The room was great - spacious with really nice bathroom and a roof terrace for relaxing too. The resort area was nice - with a lovely pool and great spaces to relax in sun and shade. There was plenty of space for the kids to play and a lovely beach area with great views. It was a fairly short walk round to the action in Arugam bay (or a tuk tuk ride) and great to come back to the oasis of calm that is Stay Golden. We did 2 surf lessons - everything can be organised through the resort. Food was good too. The hosts and staff were super friendly and helpful. It was a great stay and hope we can revisit at some point and stay for longer!

Great bungalow and hotel, clean and well kept. Food great and had a great casual vibe. Definitely recommend. We liked staying a little way out (10 min walk or $2 tuk tuk) and still being on the beach. Town can be busy so was nice to be away from the chaos.

The pool and yoga shala overlooking the ocean are the cherry on top, making it easy to slow down and recharge. What really makes this place special is the people. The owners and staff went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. They were warm, welcoming, and always ready with great recommendations for surfing, safaris, and local spots. It felt less like staying at a hotel and more like being part of a little family. Two things that really stood out: they have their own tuk tuk service, which made getting around super easy and stress-free, and a generator that kicks in during power cuts — such a lifesaver in Sri Lanka’s heat! If you’re looking for a place in Arugam Bay where you can truly relax, enjoy amazing food, and feel cared for in every way, Stay Golden is it. I can’t wait to come back

Die Besitzerin Angie (deutsch sprechend) und ihr Mann führen eine tolle Hotelanlage. Sehr schöne Bungalows. Man merkt, dass Angie ihr westliches Flair für Design und Details einfliessen lassen hat.

Wir haben die Kumana Nationalpark Safari gemacht. Der Park sehr schön, jedoch wurde Safari als zu lang empfunden. 6-7h unterwegs. Drei bis vier Stunden maximal würden längstens reichen.

Location (close to town center but without the noise, close to beginner surf spot), staff, possibility to rent a scooter, surf equipment available, free sun-beds on the beach

The AC didn’t work properly the entire stay, electricity unstable, restaurant not tasty, late cleaning of the rooms (4pm)

Le restaurant était ouvert toute la journée et on a pu se régaler avec une carte très complète ! Il y avait de tout, aussi pour les enfants ! Je salive encore en pensant aux smoothies bowl ! L’ambiance était super, Angie et Rihan étaient aux petits soins et veillaient à ce que nous ne manquions de rien et que notre séjour soit parfait ! Très convivial ! On y retournera c’est sûr, meilleure adresse sur l’île !

Nice hotel but bit overpriced!

My time at stay golden was amazing. The staff and the owners were extremely helpful, always going the extra mile to make sure my stay was as enjoyable as possible. The location is great, close enough for a short walk to the surf spot but far enough that you don't get caught up in the loud nightlife. The room was big, clean and modern and the bed was super comfortable. I wish I could have stayed longer. Highly recommended and I'll be coming back for sure!

Stay Golden has been one of our favourite stays of our entire time in Sri Lanka. Beautiful bungalows/apartments, the sweetest staff (our kids still miss them) and delicous and healthy food available from 8 AM until 9 PM. What we really liked was that there were always several families staying here and that the owners was also pretty much always around with their family, it created a nice and homely vibe in which we felt very welcome. Big thanks to Rihan and Angie and we hope to visit again some day!

We loved everything! The room was lovely, the pool area was great, the breakfast options for an including breakfast were incredible. I also did a surf lesson and yoga during my stay and both were amazing. A beautiful family run hotel, the owners have created a beautiful environment and spend time talking to you. Thank you so much

Stay Golden is one of the nicest places we have ever stayed in. Everything was just right here: from the hosts, Rihan and Angie, they are super nice and helpful (helped our driver find accommodation, suggested their favourite restaurants and sights to see and explore) they are on site every day with their children and always available for a talk. While the pool is small, the beach is wonderful with many cabana's to lounge. Even though the location is a little out of the main centre, it's easy to walk along the beach or catch a tuk tuk. We had the double room cabana, it was super clean and stylish in design. The food was amazing, great food selections and super healthy options. It's easy to stay here for a week.

Our room was the closet to the pool and restaurant, so not much privacy and every conversation can be heard. The second room in the cabana is upstairs, the stairs resemble more of a ladder than a staircase, so it is very tricky getting down, you have to go backwards like a ladder, I'm surprised this got approved by the building / housing code. It's very unsafe.

Very nice, place, about 10 minutes walk from the center of Arugam Bay, but they provide free bicycles, so it’s relatively easy to get there. The bungalows are spacious and comfortable, breakfast is filling enough and they provide free yoga sessions every day and also surfing lessons (cost is similar to that in the city).

Internet was sometimes little slow, aircon had troubles working at the time of peak heat and there was no doors to the bathroom (only a courtain) which I don’t like.

The hotel is a little out of town, which is nice; it's only a short tuk-tuk ride into town and a great place to see elephants on the way to the surf beach - peanuts. The pool area is nice with lots of places to sit. The cabana rooms are much nicer.

We have two different types of rooms at this hotel. I accidentally booked the hotel family room, not realising this was different to a cabana. So we rebooked two nights available in a cabana/bungalow/chalet (called different things on websites). The hotel room is very hot, the aircon didn't cool the room at all, and the bunk beds are too hot, so the kids slept with the mattresses down on the floor. The large glass windows made the room very hot, and there was no view. The second two nights in the cabanas were a lot nicer and way more comfortable.

We have just spent 3 nights in Stay Golden and it was one of the nicest hotel experiences we had so far. It's a very beautiful place in a perfect location with all facilities. Great yoga classes.The restaurant serves delicious food and drinks. Everyone is very helpful and caring. Angie and Rihan create warm and welcome vibes and make you feel like home. We just wish we could have stayed longer... We definitely will be back.

The hotel is phenomenal. The lovely German owner is really accommodating and friendly. The staff are also great. Everything about this place is perfect and if I could give it a 12 I would. We went during the off season (January) so the town was very quiet, which made having this accommodation all the more better.

The property is situated in a fantastic location, complemented by a cooperative property management team. The staff was attentive, and the service provided was truly commendable.

While some guests may enjoy pets, we prefer to avoid disturbances caused by cats, especially in the restaurant area.

We are a family of 4 with kids of 8 and 9 yo We almost cancelled our time in arugam bay… everyone was saying the weather would nt be good this time of year etc. we are glad we listen to the owners of the hotel and decided to stick to our plan! The place is awsome. The rooms we so nice. With everything you need. The swimming pool is really good too Just steps away from a private beach where we were the only ones. The restaurant serves delicious food and the staff was really good. The owners helped us with safari tours in the near by park and some surf lessons and rentals The yoga class was also really nice We had amaizing weather. And a even better time! Met some great peopler there and we were sad to leave!

Everything was really fine. Even though i think price is bit too high. But it was just my personal opinion

Why i gave just 7 out of 10 is because of breakfast. We informed stuff previous day that we are leaving early and need breakfast at 8. We got our omeletes at 8:45. 9:15 still no fruits and we simply cant wait longer. Really sorry but breakfast isnt a dinner- most of people have plans fir a day. But that was only bad thing i can say.

Stay Golden is a beautiful and chill place to stay. We loved everything: the room, the pool, the food, the beach, the staff,... we even booked an extra night. It was wonderful. We booked a lagoon boat trip and a safari in Kumana National Park and we were amazed by the amount of animals we've seen. We took a yoga and a pilates class too. Would definitely come back here!!

The food was average at best, an extreme amount of bugs ans insects in the restaurant.

The price is too high and it was the only (and most expensive) hotel we stayed at in Sri Lanka where the breakfast was not included. Test if brakes of the bycicles which are available at the propery work before you ride.. we took 6 different ones and in 4 of those the brakes where not working… Be aware that the beach close to the hotel is not suitable for swimming due to the high waves but the main beach is a 10min walk away

A great place, close enough to walk to arugam bay, but just far enough that you are away from the busyness. Perfectly relaxing.

Stay Golden can step up some elements to ‘stay golden’. * shower was luke warm at best, even during sunny days * maintenance aircon 2+ hours during stay, one day before leaving, better to schedule day later * cleaning was OK, but not golden, both the house and the restaurant * room sizes as indicated on Booking and elsewhere are probably including terrace, as actual size inside was smaller

Stay golden had everything you could need in one place! Amazing vibes and great location in Arugam bay. We loved using the free bikes to ride into town each day and explore. Great staff and we loved our surf instructor Rizi. Very reasonably priced considering the location and all the amenities. Food and drinks delicious too. A wonderful place to stay!

We loved our time at Stay Golden. The room was fabulous and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The balcony was gorgeous with a lovely seating area, swing & hammock. We loved to sit there looking out to sea, watching the crashing waves. Angie & Rihan are lovely people. Our son joined Rihan for a surfing lesson at Elephant Rock which he really enjoyed. Their team of staff are also really friendly and happy to help with anything that you need. The food is healthy and delicious. We really enjoyed our breakfasts. The beach where the resort is located is just stunning. It was totally deserted when we were there. There are a few sunbeds and a swing if you would like to chill out there rather than around the pool. However, the pool is lovely as swimming in the sea isn't really possible. Arugam Bay is a liitle bit of a walk in the heat however it is very easy to get a tuk tuk. They seem to come to and from the resort pretty regularly. We struck lucky with a really lovely driver called Jaleel who we just messaged when we needed a ride and he came and picked us up. I'm sure that the resort would be able to provide you with his number! It was lovely to be just outside the busy Arugam Bay centre. Overall we had a fabulous stay and will definitely return.
