We had the most wonderful stay at Altana. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, with lovely decoration, a gorgeous pool and truly breathtaking views over the caldera. Our room was beautiful and very comfortable, and we loved our little terrace overlooking the caldera. But the location is what makes Altana really extraordinary: being perched right above one of Santorini’s most iconic blue-domed churches, with that incredible view in front of you, is quite unforgettable. And above all, the staff were absolutely adorable. Everyone was so warm, welcoming and genuinely kind to us throughout our stay. They made an already beautiful experience feel very special. We loved every minute of our stay and left Altana wishing we could have stayed longer. We very much hope to be back next year. Thank you to the whole team — you were wonderful.

Szacunek dla całej załogi i w szczególności dla Pani z recepcji, która cierpliwie i szczegółowo odpowiadała na wszystkie pytania. Pokoje z pełnym wyposażeniem. The staff is amazing, super helpful and go out of their way to make your stay perfect. Special shoutout to Stila who took her time to plan our stay with us and gave us many great recommendations. The room was beautiful and spacious and the view is just insane. The plunging pool/jacuzzi has a great temperature and is we’ll maintained. Breakfast was perfect and exactly as ordered. The bed was very comfortable.

There are restaurants and grocery stores around the hotel and the views from there are amazing (arguably better than in very touristy areas) but just keep in mind that you’ll need a car or ATV or you can hike to Oia and Fira, the main cities on the island. We ended up taking the bus and it was easy and cheap.

We absolutely loved our stay at Altana. The location in Imerovigli is spectacular, with breathtaking views over the caldera, and our suite was beautiful, spacious and full of character. Having our own private plunge pool and terrace overlooking the caldera made the experience truly special. The breakfast was excellent, and the entire team was warm, attentive and genuinely welcoming. The service was outstanding from beginning to end and made us feel very well looked after. Altana was one of the highlights of our trip to Greece and we would definitely come back.

The accommodation exceeds expectations in every way. The photos shown are lovely, but once you arrive, the reality surpasses them. The friendliness of all the staff, how easy it is to communicate with them, and the way they take care of everything you might need. Once you arrive at the accommodation, in my case in the taxi they’ve arranged for me, the staff are waiting to take your luggage up to your room via the footpaths – as it’s not possible to drive right up to the door – making for a spectacular and comfortable arrival. The welcome drink, the explanation and the attention to detail on arrival. Another thing we didn’t know was that they serve breakfast on your terrace every day. A generous and excellent breakfast, with a choice of dishes, served against an unbeatable backdrop. We’ll definitely be back – it was one of my best holidays, thanks in large part to Altana.

Everything was just amazing!) Altana is one of those rare places that becomes part of the journey itself. The breathtaking caldera view, peaceful atmosphere, beautiful historic character and genuine warmth of the staff made our stay truly special. What we loved most was the feeling of privacy and authenticity — it never feels like a typical hotel, but rather like your own little home above the Aegean Sea. A magical place we would return to without hesitation.

Fenomenaal uitzicht vanop het terras voor de kamer, waar ook elke morgen ontbijt geserveerd wordt. Supervriendelijke dame aan de receptie, die alle tijd neemt om alle interessante activiteiten op het eiland voor te stellen en te helpen bij het boeken. Ruime koelkast op de kamer is ook aardig meegenomen. Je kan ook ter plaatse iets eten op een heel gezellig piepklein terrasje met hetzelfde mooie uitzicht. Het terrasje van het restaurant ligt op het mooie wandelpad van Fira naar Oia. Je kan de mooie zonsondergang dus elke avond bewonderen als je een klein stukje wandelt over het wandelpad richting Oia.

De wijn is over het algemeen heel duur op het hele eiland.

We had an amazing stay in Altana to start our honeymoon. We had chosen the Honeymoon Suite which is at the top of the apartments and has a beautiful private view over the bay. We wanted somewhere to relax and unwind and this was the perfect place. We went to a few places in Santorini but honestly the private terrace you will have is the best place to watch the sunset and have your own dinner and wine in privacy. The food from Altana was fantastic and we loved staying here to enjoy the views and relaxation.

This is easily one of the best hotels on the island. I stayed in the Honeymoon Suite, which features amazing views of the caldera. You can see almost the entire island from here, stretching from the lighthouse on the east side all the way to Oia on the west. The room was extremely clean and beautifully decorated with plenty of character. It also has a second balcony with windows overlooking Imerovigli, Fira, and the rest of the eastern side. It is an incredible spot for photography, especially with the church tower and blue dome nearby. Perched at the top of the hill, the room feels very private. You have your own balcony, sun loungers, and a heated outdoor bathtub that fits two people. The setup is completely secluded; unless the staff stops by for daily chores, no one can see the tub. The receptionist was also very kind. She took the time to tell me about the island, shared great recommendations, and suggested daily itineraries for my stay. Hotel is at the top of Imerovigli, therefor has lots of stairs in and around the town. But the walk path is just in front of the hotel which has the best route to both sides of the island. for example, It is around 2 hours to walk to Oia. 30 minutes to Fira. The sun sets directly in front of your view...

We were blown away by Altana! The service is on another level.. I’m speechless. A porter welcomed us and carried our luggage. We got welcome drinks and a room upgrade! At check-in we chose what we wanted for breakfast and what time to be delivered to our room. The hotel also has a bistro for drinks and food and a small infinity pool with few sunbeds available to all guests. There you have direct view to sunset! But what impressed us the most was the location it’s absolutely peeeeerfect! The famous Blue Domes that everyone comes to photograph are right next to you.. could it be any better?? Thank you to entire team for all they do four us to have such an amazing stay with Altana! See you again!

Exquisitely maintained, historic feel , quiet and private despite being a tourist attraction for blue domed churches.

All aspects of the property are on point so I am splitting hairs - there were no additional blankets in the room - this really wasn’t an issue at all!l. One was bought to the room immediately!

Absolutely loved having delicious breakfast brought to our room every morning with a beautiful view! Naya was very helpful, in one morning she was able to help us plan out our day, got us a car rental, then reservations for lunch down in Ammoudi Bay and then reservations at Venetsanos winery! It was one of the best days of our honeymoon!

Boutique hotel with exceptional views at highest point in Santorini. Quiet location. Nice small Brasserie. Helpful staff whose restaurant recommendations were spot on. Nice small rooftop pool with views to cool off. Overall a good choice.

For those with very young children or elderly who don’t like many steps this would not be a good choice. Pool has no safety glass barriers with big drops. The hotel is down small lanes from Imerovigli centre with quite a few steep steps. The plus is it’s quiet and the views right round the caldera from Oia to Fira are truly exceptional.

We had an absolutely unforgettable stay. The location is stunning, offering breathtaking views of the caldera, and the rooms were amazing. Every single aspect of the experience was stellar—from the incredible breakfast to the easy access to the nearby walking path. The service was impeccable, meeting our every whim, but the absolute highlight was the personal attention from Christos. He is so engaging and made our trip truly special, especially during the wine tasting in the onsite bistro. An exceptional experience from start to finish. Highly recommended!

This hotel was so special in aesthetics and service. The staff are amazing as was the accommodation. We stayed in a room without a plunge pool and used the amazing rooftop pool that had views to die for. Special thanks to Petros for meeting us and helping with our bags. Nyah and Stella on reception for their great dining recommendations, excellent communication and help with transfers and to Christos for the welcome drink and wine introduction and smiley face every morning when he delivered our breakfast. ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ 4/5 We spent several days at this hotel in June while celebrating the first anniversary of our relationship. First of all, I would like to say that we left with many beautiful memories. We experienced the romance of Santorini, enjoyed breathtaking sunsets, witnessed the incredible cloud formations over the caldera, and spent wonderful time together. Most importantly, the hotel staff were exceptionally kind, professional, and attentive throughout our stay. Every member of the team was genuinely pleasant and made us feel welcome. For this reason, this review is not intended as criticism of the staff or the hotel itself. I simply want to share a few details that future guests may not realize from the photos and descriptions. Before our arrival, I mentioned several times that we were celebrating a special occasion. While the hotel was aware of this, no special gesture was offered during our stay. Of course, this is not an obligation, but after mentioning it multiple times, we expected perhaps a small touch such as a card, a glass of champagne, or another symbolic gesture. The biggest difference between expectation and reality comes from the photos. The pictures create the impression of a very private and spacious experience. In reality, many terraces are located directly next to public walking paths. In our case, there was a constant flow of tourists passing just a few meters from our terrace, many of them stopping to take photos. As a result, we did not experience the level of privacy that the photos seem to suggest. The private jacuzzi was completely exposed to the sun. During the hottest hours of the day, it was difficult to enjoy because there was virtually no shade available. The sunbed next to it was also under direct sunlight for most of the day. The shared swimming pool looks beautiful in the photographs, but there are a few things worth knowing.

This was a small piece of absolute paradise ! Incredible location with outstanding views. The location is perfect, not in the busy area of Fira but close enough to dip into if needed. Plenty of nice restaurants local along with the in house bistro. The morning breakfasts were lovely ! Along with the absolutely fantastic staff, Naya was so lovely to talk to and helped make us feel so comfortable along with her staff. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

We loved staying here in Imerovigli. Much less crowded than Fira or Oia. It was so quiet and peaceful. The hot tub we had with our room was AWESOME after long days of walking around. The staff was SO polite and helpful. They gave us great recommendations and answered all our questions. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and customized to my food allergies which was really kind of them. Would definitely stay again!

Navigating around the hotel area could be a little confusing since everything looks so similar in the area (lots of white stairs and buildings) so maybe a couple extra signs would have been helpful. The floors are also super smooth but VERY slippery when wet - maybe a door mat inside the hotel room would have been helpful, especially when coming from the hot tub or bathrooms.

Creo que en las imágenes publicadas en Booking podrían mostrar mas de las vistas desde las habitaciones, que casi todas, son fantásticas y no queda tan claro en la imágenes. Hay habitaciones con _Jacuzzi con agua caliente que tampoco queda del todo claro en la descripción que tienen ese servicio... es decir, el hotel tiene, a mi parecer, mucho mas de lo que permiten observar las imágenes..

We really loved everything about the place. It was in a quieter area but with lots of atmosphere. The place was tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean with the most amazing views. The hotel is run with so much passion from the owners and the staff. We are already planning our next trip.

An authentic and quaint hotel in the lovely town of Imerovigli. The brothers who run this and the restaurant know what they’re doing. Concierge checked on us everyday and offered to help with so many of our plans. The restaurant was delicious and had really rare wine we never thought we’d find again!

Excellent location within walking distance to Fira and still away from the most crowded areas. Lots of restaurant options nearby. Spacious rooms with sea view as well as sunset view. Hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. We took the hotel transportation option which made it easy to find the hotel and also got help in carrying suitcases up to the rooms, which otherwise may have been challenging. Michael at the reception was very helpful with suggestions on activities and restaurants etc.

Breakfast was adequate but nothing special. While having it served in the rooms is convenient, it leads to the food getting a bit cold. The water in Santorini is not potable, so one needs to stock up on mineral water bottles.

I cannot see staying anywhere else in the Imegoviglia area-- it is so perfectly situated to walk to Fira and access restaurants and the views were phenomenal. The service that Michael provides is beyong 5 star-- he is simply amazing and you will feel so taken care of.

We loved the setting, laying by the pool watching the sunset, we felt like we were above all the crowds and on top of the world! Imerovigli is a beautiful quieter place to stay and Altana Suites are perfect. You can walk into Fira and there are lots of restaurants nearby. Our suite was spacious and comfortable, and we made use of the communal pool. There is a great little restaurant/bar that also looks out over the caldera and the sunset. Breakfast with a view on the terrace every morning was stunning and the staff were the most friendly and helpful of any hotel we’ve been to! They helped us book transfers, excursions (the sunset catamaran was incredible!!) and meals, and made the start of our honeymoon better than we could have hoped!

We couldn’t fault anything about our stay here.

At Altana, we experienced everything we had hoped for in Santorini. From our room, we could enjoy a breathtaking golden sunset, and just by going up to the shared pool area, we could watch a magnificent sunrise. Our private pool was perfect — I was initially worried from the photos that it might feel too enclosed, but in reality, it was semi-sheltered in the best way. It offered enough privacy while still feeling open, making it ideal to use even under the strong midday sun or in the cool evening breeze. Breakfast was delicious, and the staff were genuinely kind and attentive. As someone who loves traveling and has stayed in world-renowned resort destinations — Bali, Hawaii, the Amalfi Coast, the Maldives, and the Bahamas — I can honestly say that, both in terms of value and overall experience, Altana easily ranks among my top five stays. Choosing to stay in Imerovigli, rather than the busier Oia or central Fira, was also one of the best decisions we made. During our trip, we often walked between the hotel and the Fira bus station — about 20 to 30 minutes each way — and the stunning scenery along the route made every walk peaceful and memorable. (If you’re older or prefer convenience, I’d recommend taking the bus instead.) Thanks to the thoughtful assistance of the Altana staff, we had some of the best meals of our entire Greece trip — including Athens, Meteora, and Delphi — all just a short walk from the hotel. They also helped us adjust our itinerary perfectly to the local conditions, such as hiking time to Oia, visiting the Red & Black Beaches, and exploring Pyrgos. If my family or friends ever visit Santorini, I would wholeheartedly recommend Altana to them. And if I ever return to Santorini myself, there’s no doubt — I would choose Altana again.
