Well managed Guest house, good views and good breakfast. Everythiung clean and well thought through. Milk and water in the fridge. Attention to detail is great.

My room was moldy. I arrived late (16h00) so the host was no longer there. Its room 6 so avaoid it when you book. I had difficulty sleeping because my chest would close up every 30 mins. i nearly booked into another hotel in the middle of the night. Hostess, take note and fix the mold issue. Otherwise its good value and pleasant enough.

Perfect view especially in the morning that's sun rise woow! I really enjoyed the walking around the area fresh air and nice people around. The sound of the birds in the morning. Not forgetting about there English breakfast woow.

To be honest I liked everything I recommend that place to everyone. Guys the place is really perfect and beautiful stuff are so friendly always smiling and helpful. I would go back there anytime.

We liked the electric blankets, cleanliness, location, secure parking, friendly welcome. We arrived late and left very early. Our needs were accommodated in relation to our arrangements.

The wind was absolutely howling to the degree that the cold air was lifting the curtains in the main bedroom right onto the bed. Thank goodness there were two single beds deeper in the unit and a door we could close to dampen the noise and the cold. The air-conditioning has heating which we also used to create an environment conducive to rest and good sleep which is what we needed. Sadly in SA our aluminium companies have no clue how to seal windows properly.

Was a quick stop on our way to Cape Town. Very organised and suited our needs perfectly. Car was safely locked away and plenty of space in the unit for the four of us. Fantastic views over Gariep Dam!

Disappointing customer service & below par rooms & Quite Overpriced for the rooms/facility which are on offer. We were a family of 6 (including 2 children). We were given 3 seperate rooms (with one room quite far down from other two) , consequently we had to walk in extremely cold temperatures up & down with family/luggage split, Extremely inconvenient and not recommended. Dirty/Stained upholstery (sofas) Pillow had stains too Most of the room & washroom doors were quite run down & faulty -:would get stuck (our child got stuck in one of the toilets). Towel quality/hygiene was poor Very polite ladies who welcome yet the facility with all mentioned above made our experience quite uncomfortable & unpleasant

The lodge is perfectly situated looking out over the dam. Even if the room you get doesn't have a dam view, there is a common room with tables, benches, an indoor braai, the amazing view and even a pool table! The breakfast was lovely and communications from the lodge were absolutely excellent. The rooms themselves were clean, comfortable and well prepared. The rusks and little tea/coffee packets were a great way to make us feel welcome.

No complaints at all - just be careful when turning into the property's driveway as the kerb is a little steep and you can scrape the bottom of your car (which I did once). Note that not all rooms face the dam, so be aware which room you are booking.

The bathroom door didn't close properly, the fridge had missing parts so it was ineffective for storing fruits and vegtables.

The staff and owner were exceptional friendly and accommodating. When we were delayed they checked in on us regularly to ensure we are safe. The rooms were in pristine condition and welcoming and the scenery is painting worthy. The breakfast was a generous portion and delicious. We highly recommend this villa to everyone! Thank you for everything!

What started as a pit stop on the way to Jo'burg ended up being a really good place to stay. The view was amazing, and the dam seems like a water sports hub. The staff were super friendly and helpful. There isn't too much around but the local pub did great steak.

The room lay out is a bit strange, with the shower next to the bed, but over all the room was comfortable.

A lovely stopover in Gariep. Perfectly clean, lovely beds and gladly it was very warm.

A coffee plunger would be great for those who like good coffee. Lighting in kitchen not great.

The unit was perfect. Neat, tidy and everything you may have wanted was there. Helpful staff - breakfast was very generous and delicious! The view was fantastic and the sunrise was spectacular! Pity we were only there for an overnight stay!

The units door had a gap below it that a small rat could get through.

The room was very clean and spacious with a very beautiful view of the river. I enjoyed the fact that the room had a hair dryer and we were given bottled water each day on top of the normal tap water.

We stayed in Unit 2, which was very comfortable for our needs. We liked that it had two bedrooms as well as two toilets — one separate toilet and another in the main bathroom — which made it very convenient. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything needed for self-catering. Although the view from the main bedroom was partly blocked by the house in front, we really loved the beautiful view from the upstairs kitchen and living area. The second bedroom still also had a lovely view over the dam. There was also a gas BBQ on the outside deck next to the living/kitchen area, although we did not get the chance to use it during our stay. One personal touch we would have loved to see is artwork that reflects the history and beauty of Gariep Dam itself, rather than the random art currently hanging in the living room and bedrooms — for example printed canvas photos of the dam during its construction or scenic photographs of the dam and surrounding area. We feel this would enhance the overall Gariep Dam atmosphere in the apartment and create a more unique experience for guests.

Overall we had a pleasant stay at View Lodge and enjoyed the accommodation. There are however a few small things that could improve guests’ experience even more. What we did not like: There is no place to hang towels. There were no hooks or towel rails in the room, bathroom, or even the corridor, which made it difficult to dry or keep towels neatly. The WiFi worked only for a short while and then would not allow us to sign in again. A more detailed explanation about how the main gate lock works would have been helpful. At first we were quite stressed because the key would not turn and we thought we could not open the gate. Later we discovered that the lock pin first needs to be pushed down before turning the key. These are all small improvements that could make the stay even more comfortable for future guests.

I requested a breakfast at 8am but slept in. Asked at 8:30 if I could have it at 9am- they said Breakfast is done. Would have appreciated if they made a breakfast a bit later . There was only one other couple at premises so feel the extra effort would have been appreciated by me.

The location was perfect as the view was incredible. Beds were very comfortable, everything we needed was there. Roxy was a wonderful host. We really appreciated the upgrade, thank you Roxy.
