We stayed in an Executive Suite at Shepherd’s Tree Game Lodge and loved it. The location is beautiful, with wonderful views over the reserve from the suite. The décor is elegant and the food was delicious. Staff were super friendly throughout. The stocked minibar option was fine, though the drinks weren’t quite our usual choice. Romantic turndown was lovely — rose petals, candles, chocolates and sparkling wine. The couples massage was fantastic. A memorable, well-run stay. Highly recommended.

Food quality was somewhat inconsistent — ranging from good to great rather than consistently excellent. Our game-drive guide was not very enthusiastic. Service at some meals was very slow and below the standard we experienced on previous visits. Still a lovely stay overall, but the inconsistency in food and service was noticeable.

Sicherheitsstandard beim Gamedrive. Nach dem unerwarteten Abbrechen des Autoschlüssels fiel auf, dass es im Nationalpark kein mobiles Telefonnetz gibt und dass im Wagen das Funkgerät nicht senden kann. Nur durch Eigeninitiative konnten wir uns aus der unglücklichen Lage befreien.

Excelente acomodação, camas confortáveis e quarto silencioso. Equipe sempre muito solícita, todas as refeições foram muito completas. Nosso ranger foi muito bom e se esforçou para que tivéssemos boas experiências nos game drives.

Para períodos frios, o banho pode ser um problema. A ducha do quarto ficava na parte de fora - inviável de usar quando está fazendo perto de 0ºC. A única opção é tomar banho de banheira - na primeira noite, a água não esquentava. Realmente recomendamos fechar o ambiente das duchas.

The rooms were exceptional and very private, every need is taken care of including being golf buggies to your rooms from the main building but the standout feature of Shepherds Tree was definitely the staff in every part of the reserve from reception to breakfast / dinner team to the exceptional game drive team!

We had a really lovely experience, from the moment you arrive, the staff are very friendly and helpful and always willing to assist, going above and beyond. The meals were absolutely delicious, well presented and tasteful, an absolute 10/10. The game drive experience, especially in the morning, was really lovely.

Já fiquei em muitos hotéis 5 estrelas pelo mundo, e a hospitalidade e a qualidade dos serviços deste hotel foram, sem dúvida, uma das melhores experiências que já tive. O hotel fica dentro da reserva, o que facilita muito os safáris, já que os games aconteciam às 6h30 e 16h30, sem a necessidade de acordar de madrugada como em outros hotéis. A densidade de animais é excelente: em um dos dias vimos dois rinocerontes e uma girafa logo ao sair para o safári. As refeições também foram excelentes, com cerca de 7 momentos de alimentação por dia (entre refeições no hotel e durante os game safaris!), preparadas por chefs experientes e com muito cuidado para pessoas com restrições alimentares. Informei na primeira noite que tinha alergia à lactose e, nos dias seguintes, todos já sabiam e traziam pratos preparados separadamente, sem que eu precisasse repetir. Além disso, os quartos são silenciosos, o Wi-Fi funciona bem em todo o hotel e é possível chegar de carro tranquilamente saindo de Johannesburgo, com boas estradas e belas paisagens. Nosso guia, Nicko, foi excelente e se esforçou ao máximo para que conseguíssemos ver todos os animais que queríamos. Tivemos experiências únicas, inclusive vendo uma matilha inteira de leões, com machos, fêmeas e filhotes. Recomendo muito ir no inverno, quando há menos fontes de água e fica mais fácil encontrar os animais, e ficar pelo menos 3 a 4 dias para aproveitar tudo com calma.

Não houve nada que eu realmente não tenha gostado. A experiência foi excelente do início ao fim, com atendimento impecável, ótima estrutura, comida maravilhosa e safáris muito bem organizados. Foi uma estadia que superou nossas expectativas. O único ponto é que recomendo se planejar para ficar pelo menos 3 ou 4 dias, porque as experiências dependem da natureza e da movimentação dos animais. Com esse tempo, dá para aproveitar melhor e aumentar muito as chances de ver tudo sem depender apenas da sorte.

Shepard's Lodge is a lovely getaway—we absolutely love visiting! The staff are always friendly and willing to assist with any questions. The chef offers a great variety of meals that suit most tastes, and they're happy to accommodate special dietary restrictions. The game drives were lots of fun, and we had a fantastic guide in Sipho. Definitely a great place to visit!"

The staff was generally friendly.

There were multiple incidents during our stay. Firstly, our room was not cleaned on the second day. When we returned from the game drive, the lodge had had more than five hours to service the room, yet it had not been attended to. Secondly, the reading light next to the bed was broken. The only solution offered was for us to remain in the room while maintenance closed the socket, which was highly inconvenient and uncomfortable. In addition, the lodge was rationing water and informed us that we would have to pay for basic drinking water. On the first evening of our stay, the food served made me ill and caused me to vomit. I had only consumed one glass of wine, so I do not believe the wine was the cause. The following morning, I informed the staff that I was still feeling unwell. They advised that breakfast would be delivered to my room; however, I was not given any choice regarding what I could eat. Instead, I was sent an omelette that was full of chillies, which I do not eat. Overall, these incidents significantly impacted our experience and fell well below the standard we expected.

We loved absolutely everything about this place . It’s our 3rd visit and it keeps on getting better and better . Our field Guide Helen was amazing . The food is to die for . Exceptional service from the staff .

Gostamos da hospitalidade, da boa vontade da equipe em fazer tudo ser perfeito, com especial carinho queremos agradecer a equipe do restaurante que nos esperou terminar de assistir ao jogo do joão fonseca e servir o jantar quando todos ja tinham ido dormir.

Toda a experiência foi maravilhosa, o que nos deixou pensativos foi a distancia. O transfer para o lodge saindo do aeroporto de Joanesburgo tem um custo elevado. Mas nós fariamos tudo de novo sem nada a reclamar

Almost everything. The staff was friendly, alwasys went the extra mile and were well trained. The General manager must be praised as she obviously runs an excellent establishment. All meals were exceptional!

1)I did not like the confusion regarding what is included in the 'all inclusive' bill, twice we asked if this qualified as a local wine and were told yes...only to receive a bill for payment. Now I don't mind paying at all, I would just like to know upfront. 2)the game ranger was Nyiko and he was dynamic, enjoyed his job and fun. It would be appreciated if we knew that we were only entitled to one drink during the sundowners. The bottle if Klipdrift was left on the table and my husband and another guest had another shot to keep warm. Nyiko proceeded to tell them 3 times that we would be charged for it...at various times, and it was quite embarassing. Again, we paid for it without complaining but there was no need to go on about it! just left a sour taste and the tip we were planning to give Nyiko vanished too. 3)I dont know if it was because we were local...but we were asked repeatedly if were part of the inclusive package before things were brought us. I know we earn in Rand, but if we booked this lodge...I think we are ok financially.

Simplesmente sensasional. O atendimento nesse hotel é muito bom. As comidas que estão inclusas são deliciosas. Minha esposa não come açucar e o Cheff teve a gentileza de preparar uma sobremesa pra ela sem açucar. O quarto é bem espaçoso, cama super king, banheira grande e muitas comodidades. Os games Safari são ótimos, conseguimos ver bastante animais. Pena que não conseguimos ver o Leopardo nos games que fizemos, mas a experiência é a melhor possível. Recomendo muito esse hotel para quem quiser fazer safari em Pilanesberg.

Fantastic location overlooking the Pilanesberg Game Reserve, we stayed in the newly renovated room 17 which was tastefully decorated and very comfortable, the food was excellent as always. Our guide, Nyiko, was exceptional: knowledgeable, witty, and friendly. He created a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere and made our game drives fun and enjoyable.

Extra charges for small things like freshly squeezed orange juice - seems unnecessary at this price point. And golf carts struggling to get past each other - simply move the stones next to the cart path back 5 centimetres!!

O Shepherd’s é um pedacinho do céu na terra. Nossa experiência nesse lodge foi a melhor das nossas vidas, tudo lindo, pensado cuidadosamente em cada detalhe, pessoas gentis e amáveis, quartos limpos e banheiros impecáveis, o cuidado com cada hóspede ao levar e trazer dos quartos nos carrinhos, eu e minha esposa não queríamos ter que ir embora. Sobre a comida, uma verdadeira experiência gastronômica, sempre deliciosa e bem executada, pratos bem servidos e que agradam todos os paladares, o café da manhã é completo e em uma das noites tivemos o prazer de provar um delicioso churrasco que eles prepararam com muito carinho. Sobre os games, vimos 4 dos big 5, nosso guia RipFuMelo é uma pessoa incrível, sempre cuidadoso, atencioso, fazia questão de perguntar quais animais ainda não havíamos visto e se empenhava para que conseguíssemos vê-los, sempre animado, engraçado e nos ensinando muito sobre os animais e a natureza. Não podemos deixar de mencionar o Lethabo que foi tão atencioso e gentil conosco, uma pessoa maravilhosa, assim como todos os outros trabalhadores do local. Agora, de volta ao Brasil, lembramos com muita saudade de tudo, com certeza um pedaço do nosso coração ficou aí nesse lugar, mas temos certeza que voltaremos um dia, espero que em breve. Eu recomendo a todos que possam viver essa experiência ao menos uma vez na vida.

Os funcionários são super simpáticos, em especial o driver( Mello), realmente o melhor driver.

Do atendimento almoço( restaurante). Teve um dia que informei restrições e que o cardápio naquele dia não atenderia a minha dieta, perguntei se poderia fazer um nhoque que foi servido o dia anterior( após consulta a cozinha disse que não, pois estava congelado) e eu perguntei se poderia fazer uma omelete, o garçom disse que não, ou seja, fiquei sem almoço e na houve nem um pouco de empatia, nada foi oferecido. No dia seguinte observei que outra mesa estava pedindo produtos que não estavam no menu( batatas fritas), perguntei se eu poderia pedir também e disseram que sim. Enfim, fiquei pesando porque o garçom do dia anterior na ofereceu mas nada?

Equipe muito atenciosa e simpática. Quarto grande, com vista para a Savana, bem equipado, silencioso e cômodo. Nosso ranger Nyko foi fora de série, muito querido, engraçado e diligente. Todas as refeições foram excelentes, tendo superado às expectativas.

O quarto não contava com chuveiro fechado, apenas aberto, o que pode ser um grande desafio a depender da época do ano, já que faz frio e o banho fica desconfortável.

Nossa estadia foi maravilhosa. Quarto grande e confortável, o nosso tinha até piscina privativa. O serviço é impecável, bem personalizado. Comida muito boa e os funcionários sempre receptivos, alegres e muito educados. O hotel oferece os game drivers inclusos, recomendo demais nosso guia Melo, na nossa ocasião iam poucas pessoas e isso fez muita diferença.

Trata-se de uma especie de resort de alto valor, mas que não oferece muitas comodidades. O foco reside quase que exclusivamente em dois safaris diários (muito dependentes de “sorte” para ver os animais) e alimentação de boa qualidade. Até há uma piscina de uso comum, mas não é aquecida. Fora isso, não há mais nada. Em resumo, resta passar o resto do tempo no quarto, o qual é espaçoso, bonito e confortável. Os funcionários, em geral, são agradáveis e educados, principalmente os do restaurante. Algo que considerei bastante desagradável é a completa limitação de bebidas. Mesmo com o preço de 4.500 reais por dia, não está inclusa nenhuma bebida, fora um filtro de agua que fica disponível na recepção. Até para beber água durante as refeições, é necessário pagar ou levar em garrafinha própria. Nem mesmo um simples vinho local é oferecido como boas vindas. Esta parte foi um demérito.

Nenhuma bebida é oferecida, não há o que fazer além dos safaris, o preço é alto para o que se oferece, não possuem itens básicos de saúde, como um termômetro, por exemplo, os safaris são completamente dependentes de sorte, tudo tende a ser cobrado.

A equipe era incrível. Todos muito educados e super atentos. Uma receptividade que até constrange. Em cada detalhe o hotel supera as expectativas, seja na arrumação dos quartos no preparo das refeições ou nos lanches e drinks oferecidos. O que gera uma sensação de extremo bem estar.

Eles ignoraram as mensagens e pedido que coloquei no Booking no formulário da reserva. Estávamos em lua de mel e fiz alguns pedidos importantes. Não chegou a comprometer nossa experiência, mas, numa próxima vez, teria tentado entrar em contato por outro meio.

Our entire experience at Shepherd’s Tree Game Lodge was absolutely incredible. From the warm and welcoming reception upon arrival to the beautifully appointed rooms, everything exceeded our expectations. The food was truly exceptional — a genuine 5-star dining experience — and the staff were consistently friendly, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile to cater to our needs. The game drives were a real highlight, with fantastic animal sightings and a knowledgeable, engaging guide who made each outing memorable.

Foram dias mágicos. Eu paguei duas diárias e fiz 3 games, mas aconselho que façam a partir de 5 games, pois é uma reserva aberta e depende muito da sorte. Acreditem, não ficarão entediados.

Eu estava com uns amigos que pagaram acomodações semelhantes em quartos vizinhos. Notei que eles sempre recebiam chocolates e eu não. Nao entendi a diferença de tratamento, mas se eu estou falando aqui de um mero chocolate, é porque a acomodação é tão perfeita que não tenho do que reclamar, na real.

Excelente custo beneficio, ótimas instalações e comida, funcionário atenciosos e nossa game driver foi a melhor!
