Rainforest Mount Lodge

Beautiful location, walking distance to one of the entrances of the rainforest. Nice pool area with a view to the forest. The staff were very friendly! The food was delicious.

La comida del restaurante era absolutamente deliciosa, probamos varios platos y postres, todo buenísimo. La piscina es un plus, al no haber mucho más que hacer que los tours guiados por el bosque, el resto del tiempo es agradable pasarlo en la piscina. Las vistas desde el balcón de la habitación son preciosas, avistamos monos, pavos reales y diversidad de aves.

La limpieza no era del todo correcta en general. Las hormigas en las paredes del baño y los insectos por todas partes, no entendí por donde entraban pero la habitación estaba llena el día que no llovió (comprensible por la ubicación). Como es una zona rural, no hay otros restaurantes a los que ir, solo otros hoteles que también ofrecen servicio de restaurante. Me pareció algo caro comparado con otros hoteles donde nos hemos hospedado en Sri Lanka, pero en esta zona tampoco hay muchas opciones.

Everything was perfect! The best stay we had in Sri Lanka until now! The rooms and the location were amazing! The staff were very friendly and welcoming! The tour we did in the rainforest with Chamara was very interesting, informative and mind blowing! We saw a lot of endemic species and had a great time swimming in the waterfall!

This place is well managed by a team of family members, who understands customer needs and addresses each requirement very well. Perfectly located for rainforest visits with beautiful views from rooms. Rooms are well appointed. We had the luxury to white (albino) monkeys from the rooms.

The location was excellent, a 500m walk to the rainforest. Within minutes of arriving at the accommodation, we saw rare white monkeys in the far off trees. The owner and her family were very friendly and helped with any additional requests that we had. The evening meals and breakfasts were delicious. The room and ensuite were clean and welcoming with a private balcony overlooking a fantastic view of the surrounding area. Well worth a return visit.

Our stay at Rainforest Mount Lodge was truly one of the best experiences we’ve had in Sri Lanka. The hotel is located just minutes from the beautiful Sinharaja Rainforest, making it the perfect place to stay for nature lovers. From the moment we arrived, the family who runs the lodge made us feel incredibly welcome. Their hospitality was outstanding—they treated us like family and took care of every detail, so we never had to worry about anything. The rooms were spotless, well-organized, and very comfortable. Waking up to the breathtaking mountain views from our room was unforgettable. The swimming pool overlooking the mountains was another highlight, offering the perfect place to relax after exploring the rainforest. The food was absolutely amazing. Their restaurant is one of the best in the area, serving delicious, fresh, and clean food with spectacular views that made every meal even more enjoyable. The highlight of our stay was the rainforest tours organized by the hotel. We joined both the daytime and nighttime tours, and they exceeded all our expectations. Our guide, Chama, was exceptional. His knowledge of the rainforest, wildlife, and plants was incredible. Thanks to him, we spotted many fascinating animals and learned so much about the unique ecosystem of Sinharaja. Everything was perfectly organized from start to finish, making the entire experience smooth and stress-free. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay and would highly recommend Rainforest Mount Lodge to anyone visiting Sinharaja. Thank you to the wonderful family and the entire team for making our trip so special. We will definitely be coming back!

This was by far our best stay in Sri Lanka! From the moment we arrived, we received such a warm welcome and immediately felt at home. The hotel facilities are excellent, and our room was spotless, comfortable, and had a breathtaking view. The air conditioning worked perfectly, and the mosquito net was fine. we had peaceful, undisturbed nights. Waking up to the sounds of nature and watching so many beautiful birds from our balcony was truly magical.The pool with mountain views was unbelievable.The sunset time is perfect. The garden is also stunning, filled with beautiful flowers and trees, making the whole place feel even more peaceful and relaxing. We joined the hotel’s night tour, which was exceptionally well organized and very safe. We saw so many fascinating night animals and plants that we would never have spotted on our own. We also did the rainforest day tour, and it was an unforgettable experience that we will always remember. The restaurant is clean and well maintained, and the food was absolutely delicious. Every meal was lovingly prepared by the family’s mother, and you could really taste the care in every dish. Breakfast offered plenty of choices and was excellent every morning. What made this place truly special was the kindness of the family. They treated us like part of their own family, always making sure we were comfortable and giving us wonderful attention throughout our stay. We had an amazing time and enjoyed every moment. We highly recommend staying here if you’re visiting the Sinharaja Rainforest—you won’t be disappointed!

Location

The hotel is nothing fancy, a few simple bungalows, a small pool and a restaurant next to the house of the owners. The property is located near the entrance of the park, roughly a 10-minute walk. And this was what I was expecting, something simple, family run. On the first night we did a night forest trek (just a tour of the back of the property, really). But the guide failed to give us the leech-protections, even tough the property claims to include them when you go on a trek and, instead, just proceeded to smear lots of salt on mine and my wife’s shoes, permanently ruining them. He did not give us a talk explaining the risks of the trek or, for that matter, any kind of information before we started it, other than a curt explanation on how to operate the flashlights (I fell once because the ground was slippery, which maybe could have been avoided if the guide had given us more information). Unfortunately, the guide was the person that interacted with us throughout our stay in the hotel, he was the one that came to our room and demanded, always briskly, rudely, to know at what time we’d be having breakfast, and he was the one on the restaurant exasperatedly taking orders. Now, considering that it is a small family run hotel, I’d certainly be more understanding of the fact that the room was dirty, that the mosquito net was full of holes, making it useless, that on our last night the lights went out (just in our room) and that we had to sleep without AC, but there’s certainly no excuse for such lack of professionalism and, especially, for rudeness, which is why my score is so low.

The people from the accommodation were the sweetest. Mom always made sure we were eating good and the sons were always ready to help us out if we needed anything.

It is the most beautifull place. The staff is amazing, the attention to detail is just crazy. The main hall dining room is gorgeous, you are in the buffer area of the national park and can already see a lot of natural fauna from the hotel. The best stay! The food is amazing! And the room are very good :)

Die Lage direkt am Eingang zum Sinharaja Rainforest ist unschlagbar. Die Familie ist super nett und herzlich. Sie haben sich um alles gekümmert und das Essen war sehr fein.

Es hatte sehr viele tote Insekten im Zimmer und Ameisen. Es hat uns nicht so fest gestört, da man halt umgeben ist von der Natur und das etwas dazugehört.

The room is comfortable and maintained to a high standard of cleanliness. Air-conditioning facilities are available, along with a bathroom equipped with hot water. The food is tasty and served in sufficient portions. The lady of the host family showed excellent hospitality and treated us very warmly on all occasions. Her kindness is truly worthy of appreciation.

It would be better if soap and shampoo were provided in the bathroom. Although there is a facility to boil water in the room, it would be more convenient if tea, coffee, and sugar were also available. I would also suggest adding an iron for pressing clothes and a hair dryer in the bathroom for added convenience

Nothing good to say about this property or its owners. They treat guests very poorly—like animals. I had an extremely bad experience here and would never recommend anyone to stay. I also met a few other guests who had similar experiences. Some even believe it’s a scam. The owner seems to use attractive photos, and the reviews appear to be manipulated to attract guests. Please do NOT go. This is a scam

The owners seem extremely focused on money—if you don’t pay upfront, you are treated very poorly. If you decide to leave, they may even contact nearby property owners and discourage them from accepting you as a guest. Overall, the situation feels highly unprofessional and raises serious concerns about dishonest or coordinated practices.

Prachtige locatie, uitzicht op het rainforest. Wakker worden met de jungle geluiden, echt genieten. De familie is heel aardig en ik voelde me als solo reiziger erg welkom.

De locatie is geweldig mooi, het is er heerlijk rustig. Je hoort alleen de dieren om je heen. Het zwembad is ook echt lekker en staat op een super mooie plek. De mensen zijn heel gastvrij en het eten is er echt heel goed. Er is in de omgeving niets anders dan natuur, dus daar moet je wel van houden.

Als ik dan 1 ding moet noemen, de wifi doet het niet in het huisje. Alleen in de lobby of restaurant.

Perfect for nature walks. No extra drive to the national park entrance needed. Very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful guides. Delicious food, wonderful views from the balcony and the dining area. Good pool. Friendly dog. Very close to nature so don’t look for luxury. I would definitely come back.

Older rooms were great but not everything worked. The newer rooms lacked possibilities to hang our clothes.

Really loved the general location, which is within a short stroll of the reserve entrance and the accommodation is set in an attractive area with woodland, marsh, river and the gardens of a scattering of other low-key places to stay. The view from the rooms is great. The garden is lovely, and has some of the same wildlife as the reserve a few hundred metres away. The swimming pool is a bonus, especially as it was sunny when we stayed. The room was serviceable - quite sparse and practical rather than comfortable or luxurious. Clean. Totally fine for a night or two. Mama and Papa are friendly and kind, the sons work hard and are business like. They organised a taxi for our onward travel. We joined one of the sons for a guided walk, he speaks good English and was very helpful. The food is home cooked, and the dining terrace is attractive. I'm so glad we travelled to Sinhajara - it's a magical place and we really enjoyed our stay here, a highlight of our trip.

There's a premium on the cost of a superior room, and I'm not sure it's that much better than the other rooms , maybe it's because they are the highest up the slope? (205/206).

Gute Lage zum Eingang. Schöne Ausblicke von den bungalows und vom Pool aus. Frühstück ist ganz in ordnung. Nettes Personal und die Tour wurde super geführt. Moskitonetz.

Es ist nicht alles so sauber, Bettlaken haben flecken. In unserem Bad hatte es sehr viele Ameisen die sich wahrscheinlich irgendwo eingenistet haben. Kaum Ablagefläche im Bad. Wände und Decken feucht und befleckt.

Wunderschön gelegene Unterkunft mitten im Regenwald mit traumhafter Aussicht.

Der Pool hätte etwas besser gereinigt sein können.

We had an amazing stay at Rainforest Mount Lodge. The room was pristinely clean with an AC and a beautiful balcony overlooking the rainforest. The breakfast was plenty and very delicious, so were the homecooked meals we enjoyed for lunch and dinner. We joined a day tour and a night tour and they were both the coolest activities we did in Sri Lanka. Our guides were very knowledgeable and showed us the beauty of the Sinharaja Rainforest with all its plants and animals (even two Loris). If you want to have an amazing experience here don’t think twice and go to Rainforest Mount Lodge. All the staff was super friendly and fulfilled every wish we had.

Vriendelijke familie. Je bevindt je volledig in het groen en hebt een mooi uitzicht. De kamers zijn groot en je hebt veel ruimte en een eigen terras met een mooi uitzicht. Ontbijt was lekker en je kan er ook lunchen en dineren wat beide ook zeer lekker was. We deden een tocht met hun zoon die gids is in de rainforest en hij was een zeer goede gids. Zocht continue naar dieren om ze te laten zien. Nam zeer mooie foto's van de dieren voor ons. Bracht ons nadien ook naar het bus station in Deniyaya voor een goede prijs.

De elektriciteit viel 2x uit waar zij op zich niets aan kunnen doen maar daardoor was het wel warm om te slapen. Daarnaast heb je veel lichtinval wat leuk is maar waar ik persoonlijk van wakker werd bij zonsopgang. In het muggennet zaten wel wat gaten waardoor wij ons eigen muggennet hebben gebruikt. Voor de rest was het een zeer aangenaam verblijf op een zeer mooie locatie. Een echte aanrader.

Prachtige locatie, hele lieve familie die heel goed voor je zorgt. Prachtige nieuwe huisjes. Heel schoon. En een fijn zwembad.

Die Familie hat uns einen ganz tollen Nightwalk und eine Tagestour durch den Regenwald ermöglicht. Wir durften so viel entdecken und auch über die Gegend, Natur und die Tiere kennenlernen. Es war großartig und auch für uns als Familie sehr kindgerecht gestaltet. Danke für die Herzlichkeit. Die Lage am Eingang in den Nationalpark ist perfekt und der Ausblick von den Zimmern in die Natur sehr schön.

Fantastisch plekje, middenin de natuur. Het is erg kleinschalig, maar dat maakt dit plekje zo uniek. We hadden 2 kamers geboekt, een standaard en superior kamer. De superior kamer was prachtig afgewerkt en een duidelijk upgrade vergeleken met de standaard kamer. Als je kunt kiezen: kies de superior! De glazen pui aan de achterzijde zorgt voor een prachtig uitzicht over de groene heuvels en jungle. Heerlijk wakker worden op je terrasje met prachtig uitzicht, zo nu en dan zie je de apen door de bomen slingeren. Het zwembad is klein, maar prachtig! Het wordt gerund door een erg lieve familie, die echt alles voor je doet om het zo aangenaam mogelijk voor je te maken. Als je er 's avonds wil eten, wordt je gevraagd dit 's middags door te geven ivm boodschappen. De mama koopt heerlijk! Ontbijt Sri Lankaans, van genoten! We hebben met de eigenaar (Roshan) een tocht gemaakt door het regenwoud, wat echt fantastisch was. De tour begon meteen toen we het terrein afliepen en was superleuk én leerzaam. Zowel wij, als onze kinderen (6-14-15) hebben echt genoten! Apen, slangen, schorpioenen, spinnen, prachtige planten en watervallen. Het is hier zo ontzettend mooi! Als we terug gaan naar Sri Lanka, gaan we ook zeker terug naar deze plek. Dikke aanrader.

The view from the hotel is quite pleasant, offering a nice atmosphere to relax and enjoy. However, the breakfast was rather disappointing the spread was limited with very few options, lacking variety and richness. A bit more selection would have made the experience much better.

The room facilities were quite limited, as there was no provision for tea or coffee making. In addition, the overall condition of the room was not up to the expected standard and could have been better maintained.

DIe Unterkunft war hervorragend. Es gibt Zimmer in zwei verschiedenen Kategorien. Als die Klimaanlage unserer Kinder nicht funktionierte, bekamen sie am nächsten Tag ein Zimmer der besseren Kategorie mit funktionierender Klimaanlage ohne Aufpreis. Die Betreiber sind sympathisch und jederzeit bereit, auf individuelle Wünsche einzugehen. Wir leben vegetarisch, unsere Tochter vegan. Die vegane Ernährung war oft ein Problem in anderen Unterkünften, hier wurde ihr tägliche ein leckeres Frühstück gezaubert. Der Pool ist gemütlich und bietet einen phantastischen Ausblick. Die Unterkunft liegt direkt am Eingang des Sinharaja Regenwaldes. Das Reis und Curry welches zum Dinner angeboten wurde, war eines der besten unseres Sri Lanka Aufenthaltes. Wir machten gemeinsam mit dem Guide der Unterkunft eine Tour im Regenwald. Er hat das toll gemacht, uns viele Tiere und interessante Pflanzen gezeigt. Wir haben uns sehr willkommen gefühlt und empfehlen diese Unterkunft. Danke für eure Gastfreundschaft.

Das wir nur 3 Tage dort waren.

Oceniam pokoje 205 i 206 czyli dwa pokoje obok siebie o standardzie Superior. Na naszą prośbę zamieniono nam jeden pokój o niższym standardzie w innym domku, abysmy mogli wygodnie wypoczywać w sąsiadujących ze sobą pokojach. Pokoje bardzo komfortowe, z pięknym widokiem z tarasu, wygodnymi łóżkami, pachnąca pościelą, zadbanymi moskitierami. Cicha klimatyzacja i wiatraki. Czysta łazienka. Smaczne śniadania w formie kontynentalnej. Krótka karta dań z których można wybrać pyszny domowy obiad oraz desery czy napoje. Zadbany basen również z pięknym widokiem na las. Istnieje możliwość wykupienia wycieczki z przewodnikiem do lasu deszczowego - skorzystaliśmy z tej możliwości - ogromnie polecam! Coś niesamowitego! Miejsce prowadzone przez rodzinę, bardzo pozytywne, można odpocząć i posłuchać dżungli. Z całego serca polecam i dziękujemy za gościnę!

Beautiful location and clean well functioning rooms. We were able to watch lots of wildlife from our room balcony. Definitely the two rooms at the top of the complex, 205 and 206 I think were the numbers

The family running the place were super friendly. The view was amazing and very close to the entrance to Sinharaja forest. Wildlife were all around and the staff would point them out when ever they saw one, including the driver that the lodge organised for us. He would stop when we were travelling anywhere to point out animals.

A thicker blanket on the bed would have been nice, also the lights and power kept slowing down and almost turning off but then coming back if we turned to many lights on. Though we never told the staff about it so maybe it could have been fixed.

We loved Rainforest Mount Lodge. We sat on our balcony and watched many birds in the valley. It's the most incredible view. We went on both a night time and day time tour with the owners son who is very plant and animal knowledgeable, showing us all sorts of things we would not have seen without him. We went to a beautiful waterfall for a swim. We also LOVED mamas cooking. The Sri Lankan Currys were so delicious that I had it 2 nights in a row and a scummy breakfast. The pool was also great. We definitely recommend staying here. It's also walking distance to the jungle entrance.

The fact that the Restaurant and kitchen was closed because it was Poya was a big turnoff. We had to cancel the stay and look for another place.

Absolutely brilliant. This place is 100% worthy. It is clean, it is peaceful, it has an amazing swimming pool. Most importantly, the family. This family is so warm and loving. The food was absolutely brilliant. Thank you Mama! We also did the Sinharaja tour with Chama and I am so grateful and happy we did it. He is absolutely the best. He knew everything we saw plenty of animals and he is really passionate about it. This has been the more authentic, peaceful and wonderful place I have stayed so far in Sri Lanka.

The place is beautiful and just next to the jungle, you can see wildlife from your terrace, and birds flying in the garden. There is a pool to relax on the afternoon. The room is equipped with a mosquito net. Chamara and his parents are a very friendly family that will provide you with good and affordable food, fruit juices, and jungle tours!

There was some ants and geekos in the room, which is expected in such wild area. This did not disturb us!

We had a lovely stay at this hotel in Rainforest Mount Lodge! The breakfast was delicious, the rooms were very clean, and the entire place was beautifully maintained. The surrounding nature added so much charm, and the swimming area was perfect for relaxing. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful getaway! 🌿🏞️✨
