Reviewed Sep 6, 2026The owners and staff were exceptional with their reception. The friendliness of everyone made us feel at home. Being vegetarians the staff made such delicious dinner and breakfast for us. Knowing that we weee travelling to Port Alfred they even packed sandwiches for us. I would highly recommend Ntaba spa lodge if you on route to umtata or Port Alfred.
Loved the property. A little oasis.

Bathroom has to have ceiling board since it's shared rooms for someone else to be comfortable when using the bathroom. Could not use the wifi and the explanation was that the wifi can only be used if you are within the yard not inside the rooms. According to staff member available at the time wifi is not part of the booking while advert has wifi on it on the booking. Com

Reviewed Aug 20, 2026N’taba River Lodge & Spa is a beautiful place to stay,the setting alone is worth the trip. But what truly made our stay memorable was the staff. From the moment we arrived, the reception/front-of-house manager set the tone: warm, welcoming and genuinely happy to help with anything we needed. Nothing was ever too much trouble. The breakfast team started every morning off right,friendly faces, attentive service and never a moment where we felt forgotten. Dinner service was just as impressive: professional, attentive and full of personality without ever being intrusive. The housekeeping team deserve a special mention too. Always cheerful, always greeting us with a smile, and our room was spotless every single day. It’s rare to find a place where every single department is this consistent. Beautiful surroundings, excellent facilities, but it’s the people who make N’taba what it is. We would highly recommend it to anyone and would not hesitate to come back.

Das Strohdach unseres Zimmer war defekt. Hat den Anschein gemacht ein Tier hause drin. Die Zimmer allgemein waren sehr dunkel.

Reviewed Mar 17, 2026As soon as we entered the hotel grounds, we loved it. So open, peaceful, tranquil and right on the river with an amazing backdrop of the mountains. Our cabin was perfect with two little balconies and a view of the river and the mountains. Service and staff were fantastic. Food and breakfast was great. Location was nicely tucked away from the bustle of Port St Johns. We also did a little adventure drive to the top of the mountain for an incredible view and the fun AirStrip!
There was a bit of building work going on right behind our room.

The Hotel is next to the river, offering canoeing when weather conditions allow it. We did a 90 min message which was outstanding for the price we paid. I also want to mention that we arrived on 5 motorbikes, as soon as we settled in the staff of the hotel offered to wash the picks by hand for a very far price which was amazing.

Reviewed Feb 11, 2026This place was a 10/10 experience. The pictures do not do it justice. It is clean, well kept and absolutely gorgeous. From enjoying our meals with a dam overlooking us to a cool poolside view, we truly could not have asked for a more gorgeous resort. The place is not only beautiful but the service is impeccable. The employees were accommodating, and extremely professional. The only thing I would rate an 8/10 was the food but I’m afraid the wine absolutely made up for it. If you’re looking for a beautiful resort with caring staff, she’s your girl!

Gerne gleich wieder Landschaftlich ist der Blick vom AirStrip auf den Flussdurchbruch einmalig schön. Der Ort ist klein und nicht Touri gesteuert. Die Strände sind einmalig wegen der Lage und der Wildheit auch der Flussmündung. Personal im Hotel ist überragend kompetent und freundlich

Le débit de la douche est faible mais suffisant. J'ai apprécié la clim, le petit frigo et la place de parking pour la voiture.Le petit déjeuner est très bien et complet. Le personnel est très sympathique.
Pas de prise près du lit pour brancher un CPAP mais on nous a fourni une rallonge.

Le Wifi ne fonctionne que dans les espaces communs et avec une connexion limitée. Il est dommage que l'hôtel ne soit pas plus aidant concernant les activités à faire autour de Port St John. Un simple dépliant nous a été fourni, c'est à nous d'appeler les recommandations sur notre seule appréciation.

Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt Habe auch eine ausgezeichnete Massage mir abends noch gegönnt! Ein Tag länger und wir hätten Zeit zum Kanu fahren gehabt !!
