We stayed at the B&B, ate at the restaurant, and then hung out for some drinks. 10/10 experience in every aspect. Room was clean and great location. We were only there for one night, so it was perfect for a night. Food was delish. We had the seafood pie, stew, and sticky toffee pudding - all delicious!! The Irish breakfast was also top notch, great way to start the day! Our favorite part was hanging out for some drinks at the bar. Bartender was lovely, my husband enjoyed meeting new people/making friends, drinks were solid, and the atmosphere was unmatched. It was that perfect Irish pub experience we had dreamed of. Highly recommend a trip to The Rusty Mackerel.

The staff were very friendly, absolutely delicious food at a reasonable price, the atmosphere in the pub is great.

The only thing was the bathroom could have been cleaner, pink mould on the dispenser in the shower but it wouldn’t put me off staying again.

Der Pub "Rusty Mackerel" ist sehr originell, das Frühstück in Ordnung. Leider waren wir draußen in einer Art Container untergebracht, der keine Fenster hat, nur eine kleine Dachluke (ca. 40x40 cm). Für eine Nacht gerade so akzeptabel... Ob es im Pub selber Zimmer gibt, wissen wir nicht.

Zimmer sind ziemlich klein und Licht funktionierte nicht.

Great location and good food

We arrived at 4pm to check in but were told we had to wait until 8pm to get a table despite ringing in advance to book a table and being told it's wasn't necessary as there was only 4 of us. We tried to get a seat in the bar but there was a lack of comfortable seating in the bar area which was problematic as I suffer from back problems. The outdoor seating was uncovered and it rained during our stay. We were delighted when the lovely barman got us a table at 6.30pm, just as the rain had stopped. The food was good but it was very hot in the bedrooms and they had no windows to open and the sky light didn't work. I would recommend covered outdoor seating.

Das Zimmer für drei Personen in den Containern war etwas eng und die Belüftung schlecht.

The accommodation is compact but perfect for a short stay, the pub is stunning, the food is excellent but the staff are even better. Ava was brilliant helping my wife with dietary requirements, she really listens to her customers and ensures they have a great meal and a great experience. The bar staff are friendly and chatty which is great and the breakfast is top notch. I will be returning and I highly recommend the business

We arrived in the afternoon, staff were very helpful in booking us in, we were shown to the room and later returned to the bar for some lunch. We then went to Teelin Pier to catch the Sliabh Leig cruise Later in the evening, we had Dinner (amazing food) and some drinks into the night Staff were very attentive

Zimmer bestehen aus Containerdorf hinter dem Restaurant. Für 1-2 Nächte aber OK. Frühstück ok aber nur Standard. zB kein Müsli verfügbar

Skylight in room did not work. Had a remote control but was not working and unable to close manually therefore woken early in the morning as too bright

This was our first stay at this place and we really liked it. The staff is very helpful and friendly, fast service, delicious food and especially delicious breakfast, live music in the bar and a very convenient location. We recommend it!

Sehr kleines Bad, und dünne Wände.

Die Bar war toll und das Essen war auch gut. Gefallen hat uns auch die Livemusik am Abend.

Die Unterbringung in diesem Containerzimmern hat uns nicht gefallen. Es ist auf großen Durchgang ausgelegt, ist wohl auch okay so aber nicht was wir uns wünschen. Es war mir bei der Buchung nicht klar.

Toller Pub, jeden Abend Livemusik, sehr gutes Frühstück, die Betten waren sehr komfortabel und das Personal sehr freundlich.

Zimmer war sehr "funktional", d.h. gutes Bett, gute Dusche. Einfache Ausstattung, entsprach absolut der Beschreibung. Ist halt kein Sterne-Hotel. Aber die direkte Anbindung zum Lokal ist natürlich klasse. Das Essen dort fand ich sehr guten Pub-Standard

Tiny rooms, bad service. Shower overflowed. We had to remove wads of hair from drain. Smaller than normal portions at pub. Average food.

Great location in Donegal and we went on the boat tour from Teelin harbour which was great. Had a nice dinner here. Breakfast was also great!

Rooms were quite stuffy, no big windows to open and no air on. Bathroom smelt a bit damp.

The odor from the bathroom was very unpleasant, we had to keep the door closed with the fan running. It didn’t dissipate at all. All the rooms were full so we couldn’t move.

Location was great, dog friendly is a must and didn’t disappoint.

Only downside was no window in the room, which suited the dogs but just darkened the room. Definitely not a deal breaker though.

Het was een leuke locatie in cabins achter de pub. Ondanks dat hoorde je geen geluid (zelfs geen live muziek) uit de pub naar de cabin. Eten, drinken en gezelligheid letterlijk om de hoek. Mooie uitvalsbasis om naar de haven te gaan voor een boottocht. Lekker ontbijt!

De cabins waren klein en er zat maar een klein raampje in. Twee stoelen i.p.v. een was ook fijn geweest.

The location is great, a lively pub with a great atmosphere. Food was delicious.

We went in the summer when it was very warm. Inside the room was like a sauna. It was a struggle to sleep to be honest for us and our dog but understand the weather is not always like that.

Unique and authentic Irish pub and restaurant with fantastic atmosphere, live traditional music and great food. Dog friendly accommodation, stunning setting, amazing views of Slieve League.

Very little not to like here, accommodation is a little tight on space but perfect for a short stay.

Food was great for dinner and breakfast - lovely fish and chips in the evening and full Irish/smoked salmon in the morning. Very Good. Device was great - special mention to Kiera who was fabulous! Bar was lovely with great Irish music - just what we wanted!

De locatie! Fantastisch gelegen op de Slieve League route

Oei helaas moet ik zeggen dat dit het slechtste is waar ooit heb geslapen. De pub is echt super om een pint te drinken. Het eten middelmatig (juist omdat Ierland fantastisch vers eten serveert viel dit wat tegen). Maar de kamer: aan de achterkant van de pub hebben ze een gat gegraven waar drie containers zijn geplaatst. Deze containers zijn onder verdeeld in kamers. De kamer waar het bed staat zal iets van drie op drie meter zijn, op zich ok nog wanneer je een mooi groot raam hebt. Maar de kamer had geen enkel raam (zelfs al was er een raam had het uitgekeken op niks omdat het een gegraven gat is dus tegen muren aan). Het voelde eng claustrofobisch aan en het enige licht kwam van de skylight die zon 30 op 30 cm was en een volledig melkglas voordeur. Bedden waren helaas slecht en de badkamer was een van bodem tot plafond plastic hok. Vond het gek dat dit zelfs aan de voorschriften kan voldoen. Zo jammer omdat de pub zo leuk eruit zag en de locatie zo mooi is.

Die Lage war hervorragend, da wir von dort direkt zum Sliabh Liag starten konnten. Der Pub war ebenso echt klasse! Zwei Abende Livemusik mit einer großen Auswahl an Bier und Whiskey, die Bartender waren mehr als kompetent!

Die Zimmer waren recht klein, was ja auch im Angebot steht, ebenso gibt es nur ein Skylight, ein kleines Fenster in der Decke, welches sich nur über eine Fernbedienung öffnen/schließen lässt. Diese hat aber in zwei Zimmern nicht funktioniert.

Not much if it was anything the remote wasn't working for skylight in accommodation so was a little dark.. But that just me I like natural light in a room.

Keuze tussen Engels ontbijt en ander warm ontbijt zoals scrambled eggs en salmon( heel lekker) Wat ook goed is dat je een mini engels ontbijt kunt krijgen . Ik vroeg bij de zalm wat warme tomaatjes, geen probleem. Alleen jammer dat ze er geen céréals hebben . Je kunt er ook fruitsap krijgen maar je moet het vragen , het is geen buffet.

Granen en yoghurt bij ontbijt. En misschien een wat grotere tafel, we zaten nogal krap met ons 5

The staff was wonderful and having the pub right there was fabulous. So much fun. The rooms were clean.

The bathroom was small but adequate. The restaurant food was excellent and breakfast was similar. However a fly-zapper in both areas would have been a great help and allowed for more comfortable eating. The Guinness, though, was wonderful, as my Czech wife expressed.

Our accommodation gave the impression of converted containers - our 'room' was exceptionally small with nowhere to put any form of luggage. The main light was not working - switched from the entrance door - after pointing this out to the management assurances were given an electrician would fix it but not until after 21:00..!! It was still not working on our departure 2 days later. Entering the room at night was a toe-stubbing experience given the lack of room-space. An offer of 2 complimentary Guinness was of no use as we were leaving to return to the Czech Republic.

Le personnel est efficace et très sympathique. La localisation, proche de la mer et des falaises est très agréable. Le restaurant est très bon et l’atmosphère au bar très agréable.

Les chambres sont exiguës, alignées dans des préfabriqués, sans fenêtre. Seule la porte d’entrée dispose d’un vitre opaque. Même sans être claustrophobe, c’est assez désagréable. Pas d’aération. La literie est mauvaise. On a quitté après une nuit sur les deux réservées.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay . Location just beside sliabh liag cliffs and only a short distance from nearest town . Rooms were lovely and clean and very comfortable bed . Food was excellent and the staff were so friendly and efficient, great music in bar both nights .

Pub mit extra „Hotelboxen“. Sehr ruhige Zimmer. Tolles Essen, sehr feine Biere. Sehr nahe zu Sleave Leag Nationalpark.

The Rusty Mackerel is a brilliant location. Staff super helpful and friendly even though a very busy place. Food very good - not Michelin star but great value. Would go back again - spent several days where I was so relaxed and felt welcome - will be back soon.

Rooms not big but unless you are a very big person not a problem - facilities were fine and staff eager to help if there was anything needed - which wasnt an issue for me

The fan didn’t work and it was a hot night . Door way opening into bathroom made it a tight squeeze to get in and out .

Pub is absoluut een pareltje, heel authentieke elementen, hebben in het oude gedeelte gegeten. Het personeel is vriendelijk, efficiënt en snel. Diner was lekker en veel keuze. Overnachting was in een compacte kamer achter de pub, dat helemaal nieuw is. Ontbijt was in het oude gedeelte, heel veel keuze, aan de tafel gebracht en heel erg lekker. Slieve League ligt op een paar km en is een mooi gebied om te gaan wandelen. 's avonds is er in de pub live muziek en het was een heel gezellige sfeer

De slaapgelegenheid, is van alles voorzien, maar heel compact en volledig dicht, geen uitzicht, enkel een dakraam... en is een volledige trendbreuk met de pub vooraan.

Food was poor and a lot of items not available. I understand it’s busy season but would liked to have been told when we sat down and not when taking or order. No window in the room was not great especially with the recent good weather

The staff is really friendly and we had a nice welcome to the property. The rooms are a bit on the small side but they're clean and tidy and they have all you need. Also, the location is perfect for visiting Slieve League and other beautiful places in Donegal.
