Unique and characterful home full obviously renovated with love. Comfortable beds and very clean.
It was so lovely we loved the house and the furnishings and all the extra antiques.
Location, overall presentation of house was exceptional. Comfortable beds. Very cosy.
Wasnt the verity for breakfast , ie selection if cereals and fruit. WIFI also.
This place was amazing and luxury. We felt so lucky to be able to afford staying in such a beautiful historic home.Loved looking at all the antique treasures. The shower was the best Ive ever used in my life!! The house was warmed on arrival which was lovely as it was a real winters day.I really want to thank our host for letting us experience this home.
A bedside table
Beds were extremely comfortable! Very cosy loved the decor! Had great amenities.
Super warm and comfortable The history and interior decoration and furnishings are just amazing ! And breakfast items all ready to go so very much appreciated
Nothing just perfect as everything in in taste and time of the error - do beautifully bought back to life!
Location is great. History is fantastic
Breakfast was basic but minimal.
Getting in was difficult as there was no explanation on Which door the lock box was. Confusion over the 2 different numbers given. Assumed it was the booking.com one as it was booked through them.
An absolutely beautiful and well presented house. A great breakfast was provided. It was like stepping back in time and living in a real museum. Every cupboard and draw had something to read, see and discuss. The place was very clean and every little bit extra that was needed for our journey was provided.
The only comment I would make for others is that there is no television but there is so much to see and explore that it is not really needed.
The decor is incredible. It's a piece of living history and very beautiful. I loved that a lamp or two were on and the heatpump going as we arrived at cold dusk. Very close to town.
Location tranquility space wonderful facilities and you feel like you’re living in the late Victorian era
Nothing although the only thing I would add is a second toilet to the house for larger groups
Enjoyed the historic aspect of the property.
Loved everything about our stay, property was a welcome change after three weeks of camping, luxury 🙏
Like stepping back in time. Heating was great.. room for our bikes on the veranda. Friendly ginger cat sleeping outside
Probably would only stay again with another couple as it is very big for just the two of us.
The unique experience you don’t normally get anywhere else
No wifi, however didn’t matter as it gave our family a chance to experience life from a different era.
Loved the property took us back in time amazing antiques. Very clean, very comfortable beds. Would highly recommend.
Nothing
Fantastic experience to stay in such a lovely property full of such charm of yester year. The owners have carefully restored the property retaining many original features. We loved our stay and would certainly return!
Nothing - the stay was perfect
Great location. Wonderful renovation in keeping with the wonderful Reefton experience
This accommodation was not just a place to stay it was an experience. So many things to look at and explore. Lovely space to sit on the verandah. Beautiful bedding and awesome shower. Was lovely to have breakfast items in the fridge Thank you 😽😊
Nothing
A delicious breakfast was left for us. We didn't eat as we had plans for a later breakfast elsewhere.
Absolutely nothing. It was a fantastic experience.
Lovely heritage house - awesome decor and antiques. Good off street parking. Breakfast supplies a real bonus. Close to town.
All great
The house is very well-positioned in the township and it was comfortable. The owners have tried very hard to renovate and keep the house in a stately manner, with all sorts of antiques of the period on display and fascinating to look at.
It felt like we were staying in a museum and there was a sense that we might inadvertently break something.
Beautifully presented, stepping back in time to the 1800’s. Perfect!!

Everything was great, everything you need plus more.
Loved the beautiful furniture, beautiful setting
Nothing
It was a very well done up old house and everything in it was just so perfect for that era. You actually got the whole vibe of the house back in the day so beautifully restored.

Le déjeuner n’était pas prévu.
Loved the ambience and beautiful antiques. Felt like I'd walked back in time.
No wifi..not having TV was ok for one night.
The house and it's furnishings were amazing.
Nothing to dislike
Very interesting house in a great location
Rather basic breakfast but the kitchen was well equipped
a great place to stay, history of the house was great, lovely shower, comfortable beds, a great nights sleep. Would consider staying agin.
location of keys was not obvious, you come up to the house with the number on the door, then have to walk around the house until you find the door with the lock box and key.
We knew that it would be furnished with antique furniture pieces, we just weren't expecting the standard and quantity it was furnished with. I've stayed in many hotels and B&Bs it's one I'm going to remember.
Loved all the antiques and attention to detail
Absolutely beautiful house! Felt like we were staying in a museum. Well equipped kitchen and fantastic shower. If you want to stay somewhere to appreciate the NZ history this is the place!
Nothing.
Incredible property and highly recommend staying here. The house has been beautifully restored as per other reviews. Everything you could need has been provided. Beds are comfortable.
One person in our group is a bit sensitive to dust. Totally understandable in such a stunningly furnished home that it would be impossible to eliminate dust! Worth bearing in mind if this impacts you.
SPACIOUS AND SPECIAL
Nothing we didn't like
perfectly adequate but would have liked some eggs
It was a wonderful surprise
Great place to stay
Nothing to not like
It was a nice warm house
The cabinets made a lot of noise when walking past in the night.
Beautifully restored historic home with every amenity thought of. There is no internet, but honestly that was a bonus. The beds are super comfy and the house is warm in what can be a very cold town. Fabulous experience. 👌
There wasn't anything we didn't like.
very authentic 1800's home very clean comfy beds host very easy to contact and helpful
Lovely house, loads of character.
Pretty cold, though they did try to warm it up before we arrived with heaters
Location was perfect. We loved the house and it was obvious it was a labour of love. The kitchen, dining, bathroom and bedrooms were well appointed. We could imagine how lovely it would be in warmer weather and being able to enjoy the verandas and the vista.
While it was a little cool to begin with as it took a while for the heating to warm up the whole house (and it was a very cold and bleak day) we enjoyed our night and appreciated the effort that had gone into making our stay as comfortable as possible.
The nostalgia and decor, clean, warm and comfortable.

Amazing house, such a beautiful restoration. You literally step back in time.
Harold House is a delightfully maintained period house hosted by Jennette, a warm and considerate person.
Everything!! Such an amazing beautiful house and close to main street of Reefton but quiet even so. Breakfast included.
I liked the house Circa 1900. It was my expectation that it had been renovated close to its original condition. The house was warm with the use of heaters. No fires allowed which was acceptable to me. The bathroom and water pressure excellent. Mostly I enjoyed the objets de art and sitting in the lounge with the lamp on enjoying the stained glass doors. The kitchen is modern and we had breakfast provided by the host which was a nice gesture.
Nothing.
Historic restored three bedrooms with all facilities
This was like stepping back in time. Plenty of space and everything catered to. Location was perfect for walking everywhere.
The attention to detail and the antiques and history of the place. It was perfect 👌
property was exceptionally renovated. A real period piece.
Wi Fi would have been useful.
Beautifully decorated with attention to detail. Walking distance to Main Street/town/cinema.
Quite dark inside with dim lighting.
It’s unique and full of character. We enjoyed the atmosphere of a bygone age .
It was excellent accomodation. Comments next are only meant as constructive suggestions. A unique place to stay and we will definitely recommend it to friends.
Wasn't clear where the lock box was. We were expecting it at the front door not the side door. Lawns could have done with a mow.
We absolutely loved our stay here! Despite the house being filled with amazing knick-knacks and relics, it felt very clean and homey. It had the best shower I've ever used. We appreciated how close we were to the main street; exploring all the pubs and shops was so much fun. The attention to detail was fantastic. The hosts were incredibly kind, allowing us an early check-in and even finding us in town hours after we checked out to return some lost property. Thank you so much! We hope to stay again!
Beautifully restored with traditional furnishings. Quiet, roomy and handy to all Reefton facilities.
Uniqueness
Nothing
Fabulous, a unique experience that we’ll talk about for a long time. So much detail to take in and the complimentary breakfast was spot on.
N/a. Everything was as it should be.
Beautifully restored villa. Furnished so tastefully. Very interesting stories about the family that owned it etc.
This is not a complaint, but there was no TV or internet. Which didn't worry us,but I could imagine some people would find it hard.
Awesome it was so lovely didn’t expect anything like it a dream for me personally
Ambience was exceptional. History and photos of house informative. Stained glass windows were beautiful. and masses of interesting and informative bits and pieces in living room. Would definately stay again.
It was all beyound expectations.
All very good, lovely breakfast, house close to town and lovely furnishings
Nothing
Very good.
A little cool inside when we arrived but warmed up with multiple doors open.
A beautifully restored home that we enjoyed staying in for the night. Perfect location in town. Friendly communication from the owner.
Absolutely stunning. What a privilege to be able to stay in such a beautifully restored house, fittings and interior design was stunning. Extremely well equipped for visitors - everything you could ever want.
Great location. Fabulous little details in the house reflective of yesteryear.
beautiful property
nothing
Great location, clean, comfortable beds, interesting artefacts.
Clean, close to everything, stunning property, amenities
Charming old house, furnished in early 20th style with modern kitchen and bathroom. Certainly a change from the usual run of the mill accommodation. We would stay there again.
There was no Wi-Fi or tv which was not a problem for us but could be for some people.
Amazing decor
No wifi
A beautifully restored early NZ quality home - we will be talking of our stay in this home, in Reefton, for years to come - both our selves ( Bay of Islands NZ) and our family members from Greece.
That we only spent one night there. That the photos online, didn't do the home enough justice.
Very comfy and clean
Seats on the front deck would be handy
Lovely bread, jam, muesli, yoghurt, tea, coffee (plunge pot and instant), milk.
Beautifully presented, felt like you were stepping into the early 1900’s.
Nothing, everything was great
Great ambience. Cool history and great architecture. Warm and comfortable. Close to town.
Coffee plunger is too small. Need one bigger than one cup in a 3 bedroom house. Teaspoons were very cheap and folded up getting out honey.
Stunningly restored and fitted out old villa. Breakfast supplies a nice extra touch
We really enjoyed a group jigsaw puzzle but if you were addicted to TV, you may be disappointed there is no Wifi or TV.
