Wonderful place with unique nature - lake, reindeers, silence. Fully equipped cottage plus sauna, grill, boat for fishing. We needed nothing more. We spent there great time.
Everything was ok.

Besondere Lage direkt am See.

We were so pleasantly surprised by how much was provided. Despite it being totally off grid with water facilities, if you are prepared for this then it is perfectly comfortable. We had an excellent time, thank you!

Lage am See, Sauna, mehrere Schlafzimmer
Amazing views, fresh air, nice sauna, fireplace inside and barbeque area.
Need to have good car if driving there by youself 😄
Amazing cabbin to enjoy Finnish nature ! It was very well equipped and the whole group enjoyed the facilities! hope to return😍 be aware that this is a traditional mökki (cabbin) and there’s no running water or water in toilets ( there’s a traditional outside toilet) but for us was not a problem!
all was good
Peaceful location, rustic charm
Very high cleaning fee
An amazing place nestled in the forest with a lake available for all sorts of activities and to enjoy nature in its purity and simplicity. The sauna ritual and the lake baths were wonderful, the barbecue area is equipped with everything you need, and the little house is cozy and perfect. The bathroom is outside, surrounded by nature—essential. Collecting water from the well was also fun. Busy and happy. For lovers of peace and nature.
The only regret is that we couldn't use the hot tub, but there was so much else to do.
Perfektní, čistá příroda a klid. Sauna a studená voda je lepší než nějaká psychoterapie. Bude se nám stýskat.
Emplaçament i entorn.
Torneremo appena possibile.
Niente
The Villa is nestled down a track, away from the main roads and city lights. There's no light pollution or noise. It's the perfect place for some time out and getting back to nature. The toilet is basic and a few meters away from the cabin, but this just adds to the 'wilderness' feel. The water you can collect easily from the well, this is pure clean water and there are plenty of containers for this, we drank this fine with no issues. There's plenty of wood for the fires and sauna. If you need warm water, you need to heat it in a boiler next to the sauna fire. You can wash your body & hair fine in here. There is no shower, but theres plenty of tubs, towels & face cloths. This really is going away from your 'mod cons' but exactly what we needed. I came to this cabin with my mum (58) and 2 children, 11 & and 15, and we all had an amazing experience. The lake was frozen with an opening for fishing and a cold dip after the sauna. You will need transport this is 55 mins away from shops. We stopped at lidl in Rovaniemi before we arrived. There's lots for the children to play with, board games, sledge, fishing equipment ect. We would come here again for sure. It's one of the best experiences we've had. The host was easy to contact and very helpful with all aspects of our travels. We couldn't ask for more. We hope to book again soon.
We loved the whole experience of getting back to what truly matters. Nature and family time. We have no negatives to give.
Location is an hour drive away from Centre Rovaniemi
I hate leaving bad reviews, and I’m not one to complain usually, but I feel like I need to share our experience to warn others. We stayed at Villa Latvus in January, drawn in by the amazing reviews and photos. We knew it was a traditional Finnish cottage without modern comforts like running water or a shower, and we were fine with that. But the toilet situation was beyond what we could have imagined, and not in a good way. Yes, the description mentions an outdoor toilet, but what they don’t tell you is that it’s not really a toilet at all. It’s a freezing cold shed with a polystyrene seat stuck on top of a pile of snow. At -20°C, this is not just uncomfortable, it’s unbearable. On top of that, the wheel mechanism to “change the snow” under the seat was frozen solid and unusable. And even if it had worked, the waste from previous guests hadn’t been cleaned up. Disgusting. The cottage itself is cozy and clean (though we did find a frying pan with dried-up eggs left behind by the last guests). But traveling with older parents, this toilet situation was completely unacceptable. It wasn’t safe, it wasn’t sanitary, and we had no choice but to leave and find somewhere else to stay last-minute, in the middle of winter. If you’re considering this place, please think twice. Unless you’re totally okay with an unusable, freezing, and unclean “toilet,” I’d suggest looking elsewhere. Such a shame, because the rest of the cottage could’ve been a nice experience.
There was no toilet with water and no tap water, i dont recommend it during winter with kids
Lovely, private and quiet location - spacious and homely
- Really beautiful and peaceful location, quite secluded and romantic - The house was very clean and well equipped, with the MAJOR exception of the toilet and washing facilities (see below) - The entire area is really nice and plenty of adventures and interesting things to do - you can easily spend two-three weeks without running out of things to do
The way in which the property has been presented on Booking.com is very misleading, if not outright incorrect: - There is no normal bathroom - the only toilet available is an outdoor dry toilet in a unheated wooden shed, which is quite a challenge when the temperature outside can be -20℃ or less - There is no running water in the house at all, neither hot nor cold, not even for washing your hands - There is no normal shower or bath - in order to shower you are supposed to heat a wooden fire boiler, carry water from a lake outside and boil it, and then you wash out of a bucket - I think this hardly qualifies as bathroom/shower, as presented on the website - furthermore, the water in the lake was not at all clean (it had a dark yellow/brown colour), so we used melted snow instead - The drinking water we were supposed to get from a well with a manual pump; and that worked pretty well, but the water had a very unpleasant smell, so we couldn't drink it, we could barely use it for washing our hands - The beds (esp. the pillows) were not very comfortable - Quite far to any shop or restaurant - the closest place where you could buy any food or drinking water was about 1 hour's drive away
Place is a great typical Finnish experience, me and my family loved it. Beautiful environment. Making the sauna with my father was a great experience and also being able to do some grill outside in winter was great!!! The house is really warm and Taking breakfast in the morning with that views is completely incredible.
Maybe only thing would be the toilet but I understand the situation with the pipelines in winter so no problem at all.
Villa Latvus was fantastic. We loved our stay. We came as a family with three children who are two , seven and seventeen . I was a little bit anxious about staying so remotely with the lack of running water with a 2 year old but it wasn’t an issue at all. We enjoyed the process of heating the water through the sauna , and enjoyed the sauna ( and the ice hole ) . The cabin was comfortable , well equipped and very warm. The whole experience was amazing - although we loved our stay in Lapland in general , the cabin was the best part and I wish we had stayed longer . We went into Rovaniemi several times and although obviously it was snowy and icy , the roads are kept clear and this was not an issue. We also saw the Northern lights from the lakeside which was a bonus .
Everything was great. I didn’t initially realise one of the bedrooms was separate ( this is probably something I missed in reading ) . In fact for us this was great as we have a teenager and younger children and the teenager loved having a separate space. But worth being aware of as might have been an issue depending on the make up of the party.
Good instructions. Great location. Fantastic facilities. We recommend booking the hot tub.
Washing long hair is a bit of a challenge 😉
Deep in the woods, on the bank of the lake. Awesome wooden cabin with the sauna and all needed for life and fun. I cannot even name all the things are there, here are some: fishing rods, SUP boards, sauna, darts, batuut, rowing boat hot sauna bath, private pier, terrace etc.
Would be nice to get the info about the hot bath rent in the very beginning of the stay. We got it too late so did not use.
Everything was perfect! We loved the cabin, the area and the beds. Incredible experience staying at the cabin. We loved using the sauna and taking cold baths in the lake. I would definitely recommend this accomodation to my friends and family.
Nothing
The location is just perfect for someone who want to have a wilderness experience.. A total bliss of the most beautiful lakeview and forest covered in snow. A magical winterland. Sauna was the highlight of all our stay in Finland. It was an exceptional experience, it cannot be more authentic than this. We received always a quick and helpful reply from the owners to all our inquiries. Hose is very cosy and well equipped. We used the snowshoes, such a fun experience we had!
Collecting the key was easy but as I an not familiar with these kind of keys, actually we fidgeted quite a lot until we managed to get in :-) Also, the toilet is outside (obviously, its a house in the middle of nowhere) - I just wondered how fun it is in minus 20. But I actually had no issues with it. And - as everything in Finland - the price is relatively high.
Calm, quiet, natural, secluded but still close to Rovaniemi, ideal for disconnecting and getting back to the things that matter. We especially liked the sauna and the ceremony around it (bringing water, making the fire, warming up the sauna, bathing, etc.). Unique!
A cozy cabin in lovely surroundings, it made for an idyllic winter get away. It was amazing to get the opportunity to plunge into the frozen lake after the sauna. Having access to snow shoes and fishing gear made the winter experience all the more enjoyable.
There is a degree of false advertising through booking.com it was stated that there was a bathroom equipped with a shower. The bathroom is an outhouse and the cabin does not host running water. Water for a shower must be collected from the lake and heated in the sauna room (unless you don’t mind cold washes). And drinking water is collected from a well close by. This is a minor inconvenience for young persons willing and able, but less than convenient for older persons, as breaking the ice to collect water is a taxing activity.
Another home from home. So cosy. Location was perfect for us. Complete wilderness feel to our trip.
Cannot fault in any way.
I really like where it is located and inside of cabin is gorgeous arranged
I never thought this would have been my cup of tea, but this beautiful cabin made my trip to lapland. yes it is a fair drive from Santa Claus village ect but it was more like a real life winter wonderland 🥰
We as a family of 2 adults and two children (8yrs & 11yrs) stayed for a family trip to Lapland. We absolutely loved the peacefulness, not a pindrop sound around us. The beautiful cabin set next to the frozen lake in the forest. Beds are very comfortable. Heating inside, aswell as a log burner. We used burner once and was too hot! Cuboards were fully stocked with all kitchen utensils needed , aswell as coffee sugar tea, foil, bin bags etc! We purchased some from supermarket when we didn't realise it was already there!! Definately bring some torches for the outside toilet! Sleds were available for children at the cabin! We didn't get chance to use the outdoor BBQ or sauna as we're so busy in the snow! We would love to return again in the summertime! Cabin is 2 x road from ROVANIEMI town centre, but in snow takes around 55minutes. Very easy to find using Google maps on phone, great communication from owners. I would recommend this cabin if your looking for a great location family holiday!
Really could do with getting running water, or a proper toilet. But we managed well!
