We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful hotel. The location is peaceful and quiet, yet within walking distance of the town, with lovely walks through the surrounding tea plantations and to small waterfalls. A very special mention goes to Sam, who made our stay exceptional. He was incredibly friendly, attentive and professional, and always there within seconds whenever we needed anything – we have honestly never experienced such fast and efficient service! He was extremely dedicated, spoke excellent English and always found a solution to every request or problem. The level of service Sam provides is among the best we have experienced anywhere. We are very grateful for all his help and for making our stay so enjoyable. The food was also excellent, always delicious and very reasonably priced, with great traditional Sri Lankan options as well. A beautiful place with excellent food and truly outstanding service. A very special thank you to Sam!

We arrived late at night and the staff were there to greet us with hot towels and tea. They showed us to our room and then cooked us dinner. The food was lovely and fresh and served by Sam who was very smiley. We also got to meet Luna and Leo the parrot and cockatoo! The room was spacious. The beds were very comfortable. The next morning we had breakfast which was delicious. Our train wasn’t until the afternoon so Sam showed us around their organic garden. The surroundings are beautiful so we went for a short walk before returning to the hotel where we were allowed to relax in our room before leaving for our train. We ended up running late to our train as we struggled to get a driver on the Pick me app so the hotel staff arranged a tuk tuk to transport our luggage from Hatton to Ella. They checked in with us throughout and made sure the luggage arrived safely. A special mention to Sam who was so friendly and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was the best it could be.

We arrived late, and the staff kindly waited for us and gave us a warm welcome. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and spacious. Dinner was excellent and a great way to end a long day. We really enjoyed our stay!

Die Lage ist fantastisch! Und die Größe der Unterkunft ist auch beeindruckend. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt, das Personal war ausgesprochen nett und aufmerksam. An einem nasskalten Tag wurde uns eine Heizung gebracht. Das Essen im Hotel ist sehr lecker. Insgesamt empfehlen wir das Hotel uneingeschränkt weiter!

The staff were very considerate and ensured our stay was very good. We had a large spacious family room and enjoyed the lovely hot showers. The dinner was freshly prepared. We visited the sister hotel and enjoyed a swim.

We had a wonderful stay at Tea Hills Bungalow in the spacious and very clean family room. The location is fantastic, with breathtaking views over the surrounding hills and tea plantations. The food was some of the best we had during our entire trip through Sri Lanka. Every meal was fresh, delicious, and beautifully prepared. The staff were incredibly kind, welcoming, and always eager to help. A very special thank you goes to Sam, who made our stay truly exceptional with his friendliness, hospitality, and attention to every detail. He went above and beyond to make us feel at home. We also highly recommend the short hike to the Mini Waterfalls (search for it on Google Maps). It's a beautiful little walk and definitely worth the visit. We would happily stay here again and highly recommend Tea Hills Bungalow to anyone visiting the Ella area!

Thanks to the beautiful staff who are bringing the charm to this hotel as much as the building and the surroundings. They really can't do enough for you. My wife got ill on the way to the property and even before they got to know us they were flying out the door to the doctor / pharmacy to get the help we needed. The food was good and with generous portions. The short walk to the two nearby waterfalls is also good for a quick leg stretch. Tuk tuks are available to cover journeys in the area (we went to the Dunkeld tea estate for <1500RPH).

Nothing to dislike other than to say Hatton (the town centre) didn't live up to our expectations.

L’english breakfast est un peu frugal, la maison est vieillissante même s’il le manque rien. Nous aurions apprécié un peu plus d’assistance et de conseils touristiques dans cette région magnifique. Heureusement nous avons réservé de nous même la visite de la plantation Northwood qui nous a comblés

Das Hotel befindet sich am Ende der Stadt Hatton. Vom Zimmer und der Terasse hat einen wunderbaren Blick auf die Teeplantagen. Wir haben vom Hotel aus verschiedene Wanderungen durch die Teeplantagen gemacht. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich, zuvorkommend und geht auf alle Wünsche ein. Sie haben uns extra einheimische Früchte organisiert, welche wir probieren wollten. Auch beim Frühstück und Abendessen gingen sie auf alle Wünsche ein. Das Essen war sehr lecker.

Friendly and accommodating staff. They prepared us dinner on short notice and it was delicious. Thank you for making us feel relaxed after an exhausting day on Adams peak. Room was big and clean. Beds were comfortable and clean as well. I would certainly visit again in futire.

We stayed for four nights and absolutely loved our stay. The location was beautiful, surrounded by tea plantations and very peaceful but still close to town. The service from all the staff was so friendly and accommodating to all our requests, especially Sam who really looked after us always with a friendly smile. The staff helped organise a trip to Adams Peak and it went really well and they even helped to reserve seats on an AC intercity bus to Colombo which was super helpful, the tuk tuk driver even stayed with us to help us find and get on the bus. We felt so looked after, highly recommended.

Gebäude in einem ehemaligen Kolonialhaus - grosszügige Zimmer und Ausstattung.😀 Frühstück wie auch das Dinner authentisch Sri Lanka und habe jeden Bissen genossen. Mein Bier wurde kühl gestellt. Scooter wurde organisiert und ins Hotel geliefert. Vielen Dank für die Gastfreundschaft und tollen Service u.a. ein Kompliment an Sam für den sehr angenehmen und sympathischen Service🙏 Absolut zum empfehlen und komme gerne wieder.

Wonderful low-key but stylish traditional tea house with a large balcony with views down across the tea plantation valley. Very comfortable room with all facilities. Lovely food. Lovely young manager Sam looked after us perfectly. Interesting tea factory tour 20mins away by tuk-tuk.

The staff were so helpful organising an early morning tuk tuk to Adams Peak and a visit to a working tea factory on the way back. We didn’t get back to the hotel until after 11am but they still prepared a lovely breakfast for us. The location was quiet with walking tracks to some small villages, a water fall, town and amongst the tea fields. We even drank tea from their tea plantation. Everything was perfect

Beautiful location, excellent facilities, and very accomodating staff. They made our stay so easy and assisted with all our questions around connecting transport including making phone calls to the train operator on our behalf. The facilities and our room were a lot fancier than we had anticipated, which was a bonus positive. The food was also delicious, with generous portions. Staff went out of their way to prepare us an early breakfast before our departure. Recommend as a one-night stay while travelling through Hatton.

Schöne Lage mitten in den Teeplantagen, sehr freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal

This was our third accommodation during our two week holiday. It was a contrast to the more luxury Hotel we'd come from but Tea Hills Bungalow gave us the warmest and most genuine welcome and experience of our holiday. The staff clearly wanted their guests to have the best time! We had a family room which opened out into a communal sitting area with some kitchen facilities. The room and ensuite bathroom was functional. There was hot water, no air-conditioning but this was definitely not needed when we visited in early February. We could hear tuk tuks and crickets (!) outside but this didn't worry us too much because we were here for a purpose! The staff arranged a driver to collect us at 1am to drive us to the start of Adam's Peak and collect us when we'd finished the hike (around 8:30am). Such was their kindness, the manager got up at 1am to make sure we were okay, offered us a torch (not needed for the hike) and to wish us well. This kindness was above and beyond! The food was amongst the best we had perhaps in our whole holiday. The chef takes great pride in his work and Sam waited on our table impeccably- he was really helpful - including introducing us to the resident parrot! They provided breakfast for us when we got back from the hike too! We chose the location to be outside of a town (to escape the noise and hustle and bustle that a town in Sri Lanka brings with it) but close enough for us to get to Adam's Peak which we wanted to hike. During our stay we visited their sister hotel for an afternoon cup of tea. It is more modern than Tea Hills Bungalow and has a swimming pool which they said we were welcome to use. Overall, I would highly recommend Tea Hills Bungalow as a great place to stay for Adam's Peak. Staff and food are excellent and the accommodation was perfectly functional for the purpose we wanted it for!

Hotel je v krásném místě u čajových plantáží. K dispozici byla i hala a terasa. V hotelu jsme si dali vynikající rice&curry, které bylo nejlepší z celé Srí Lanky. Personál hotelu je velmi milý a nápomocný.

Die Verarbeitung besonders im Bad könnte besser sein…aber typisch für Sri Lanka und daher auch nichts zwingend entscheidendes für einen Aufenthalt. Wichtiger ist die Sauberkeit die gegeben war. :)

Ungewöhnliches Hotel in toller Lage. Kleine Wanderungen in die Teegärten direkt vom Hotel und doch nur 10 Minuten zu Fuß nach Hatton. Sehr herzliche Mitarbeiter, hilfsbereit und kompetent. Sehr großzügiges Zimmer mit großen Fenstern und schöner Aussicht. Großer gemeinschaftsbereich, sehr angenehmer Aufenthalt.

The rooms and lounging areas are massive, and the food is honestly lovely. ​Luxman was so accommodating, even driving us to the supermarket in the heavy rain and showing us the waterfalls and church. He also helped us make one of the best decisions of our trip by suggesting we climb Adam's Peak on our checkout day to catch the best weather. We went for it and it was a total highlight. This place really grows on you and the staff make you feel so welcome. We also really enjoyed meeting Coco the dog and Leo the parrot.

It took a little bit for us and the staff to warm up, so initially the place felt a bit quiet at first, but after a few hours everyone relaxed and the whole vibe just worked.

The owner and the staff were very friendly. They were willing to arrange anything that I asked them to, including transport, sightseeing tours etc.

Very spacious room, with a lot of windows and beautiful view. In addition to that, there is a huge common space inside for the guests as well as a nice balcony Accommodation direcly surrounded by the tee plantations. Very professionnel staff and good service. Generous and tasty meals, especially the local ones.

Old tea factory full of character and surrounded by tea plantations. The staff were welcoming and kind, and were helpful in responding to queries. Lovely rooms with a very nice lounge area for visitors to use during their stay.

Phenomenal service throughout our stay from our host. The bedroom and bathroom is very spacious, clean and smells nice! Plenty of hot water, and very good water pressure too! The food at the restaurant was excellent as it was all made to order, our host told us to mention what we wanted for breakfast and dinner, prior to eating, in order for the chef to prepare. This ensured that our food was made freshly throughout! Our room offered a beautiful view of the tea plantation fields and we had a communal spacious terrace that also offered a beautiful view! Definitely the best stay that we had in Sri Lanka!

Wir haben hier 2 wunderbare Nächte verbracht! Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und umsorgend und das Essen war sehr lecker! Unsere Kinder haben sich sehr über den Hund Coco und den Papagei gefreut! Dilan ist auch ganz toll auf unsere Kinder eingegangen,wir haben uns dadurch alle sehr wohl gefühlt. Auch bei organisatorischen Fragen (Weitertransport etc.) Waren alle sehr behilflich. Der Besitzer des Bungalows führt noch ein weiteres Hotel ,Tea Hills Lake‘ welches wir an einem Nachmittag besuchen durften! Dieses ist wirklich total schick und luxuriös und liegt mitten in den Teeplantagen in ausgewählter Lage! Wer auf der Suche nach einer gehobenen Unterkunft ist,findet hier eine gute Adresse. Es lohnt sich! Die Angestellten des Hotels kommen alle aus den benachbarten Regionen,es wird auf Nachhaltigkeit geachtet und der Umgang miteinander ist sehr herzlich! Vielen Dank A. Very large room with excellent views and comfy beds. Super helpful staff were able to help organize hiking trips to Adams Peak and the Pekoe Trail. Amazing food.

What can I say, I felt like a prince. Staff fulfilled all my wishes. Helped me arrange tuktuk to Adams peak ( must do!), rent scooter for a day and prepared delicious food.

We werden goed ontvangen in Tea Hills Bungalow. De kamer was zeer ruim en bood een mooi uitzicht, zowel 's nachts als overdag. Er was ook een balkon. De locatie is erg goed, net aan de rand van het stadje. We aten zeer lekker, zowel 's avonds als 's ochtends. De jonge vrouwelijke chef verdient werkelijk complimenten. Het bed was gerieflijk, er was ruimte om te parkeren en de badkamer had zelfs een bad.

We sliepen in de allerbovenste kamer, net onder het dak. De kamer bestond eigenlijk uit 2 kamers, één in de nok en een er net onder, beiden zeer ruim. De kamer in nok was zalig. De kamer eronder ook, maar het licht stroomde 's ochtends veel te rijkelijk binnen, de gordijnen leken geen zonnestraal tegen te houden. Daardoor werd diegene die er sliep veel vroeger wakker dan gewenst. Het lijkt ons dus aangeraden deze gordijnen te vervangen door beter verduisterende.

Mycket trevliga värdar. Fantastisk frukost. Jätteskön säng. Jag bodde i en svit på två våningar med balkong. Underbar utsikt. Rent och snyggt och bra dusch. Det fanns också badkar. Det fanns också fina sällskaps ytor. Stort tack till Ashmita som var otroligt hjälpsam med det jag behövde. Speciellt kring min tur till Adams Peak.

Inget. Jag tycker stället levde upp till den beskrivning som angivits. Det enda värt att nämna att det behövs en tuk- tuk för att ta sig till olika sevärdheter då avstånden är långa. Men hotellet hjälpte till att ha en tuk-tuk på plats vid behov.

Lovely big rooms and balcony, the food was really good and nothing was too much trouble for the hosts. Our daughter is coeliac so has to eat gluten free and they could always provide good meals for her. They also looked after our luggage while we walked in the pekoe trail for a couple of days and sorted out various transport solutions.

Fantastic staff and food. We were really well looked after. We were upgraded for our room. It was spacious with a working hot shower and a bath, a first for us in Sri Lanka. We arrived just as it started to rain heavily so didn't explore the area. It was about a mile from the train station but on the edge of Hatton with fantastic views over the hills and tea plantations. No need to use A/C.

Beautiful spacious accommodation with lovely views. All the staff were really nice and helpful and the drivers they arranged were competent and careful. They were all very attentive to the young children. The chef was excellent and the food really delicious, although small child portions would have been enough for the 2 year old rather than a full adult portion.

Generally it was really good but minor repairs were needed on some fittings. Hatton itself is not particularly attractive but the accommodation is on the edge and they arranged very good excursions.
