Reviewed Sep 9, 2026Basic maar ruime cottage. Liggingbis mooi, net buiten het dorp. Alles is aanwezig voor een fijn verblijf. Het park heeft een restaurantje met bar en winkeltje en een bierbrouwerij.
De douche van één kamer had te weinig druk. Het t restaurant had lekker eten alleen een behoorlijk aantal menu's was niet op voorraad.

when booking for 2 people we always find a room with 2 single beds we would love if in the future we can change that

Kein Licht in der Dusche. Keine positive Reaktion des Eigenümers/Managements. Nach einer langen Anreise von Kapstadt wünscht man sich nichts sehnlicher als eine heiße Dusche. Das Deckenlicht in der fensterlosen Dusche war defekt. Eine unmittelbare Meldung um 17.15 (keine nachtschlafende Zeit) zeigte keine Wirkung. Der Betreiber verwies auf nächsten Morgen und ein angebliches Notlicht das ebenfalls nicht funktionierte. Nächsten Morgen war jeoch meine Abreise und bis dahin passierte auch nichts. Ich hätte gerne selbst die Birne ausgewechselt, wenn man mir eine gegeben hätte. Auch eine kleine Kompensation - wie die Einladung zu einem Getränk wäre angemessen gewesen. Nichts. Anscheinend hat man soviel Gäste, dass kein Service mehr vonnöten ist. Das gilt nur für das Management. Der Rest des Personals war durchaus freundlich und hilfsbereit, konnte aber wohl nichts ausrichten, da der Haustechniker natürlich um 16.00 Feierabend macht. Haustechniker für das Austauschen eines Leuchtmittels - na danke. Am nächsten Morgen scheiterte das Duschvergnügen am mangelnden Wasserdruck- es tröpfelte nur. Kein Kommentar.

Reviewed Jun 25, 2026I had a comfortable stay at the Hluhluwe Cottages, they are not the newest but everything you need is there and the view on the backside of the cottages is really nice and calm. In principle it's self-catering but the Ilala Weavers restaurant and shop are at the entrance of the premises, I ate at the restaurant and food and the beer were real nice ! All in all a pleasant stay !
Nothing, I was here before and although not luxerious it has everything you really need !

Reviewed Jun 3, 2026Die Unterkunft liegt in einer ruhigen Umgebung und besteht aus kleinen, Häusern, was für eine angenehme und entspannte Atmosphäre sorgt. Auf dem Gelände gibt es ein kleines Café, in dem man frühstücken kann. Es öffnet morgens um 8 Uhr und ist bis 20 Uhr geöffnet. Das Angebot war in Ordnung und ausreichend für einen Aufenthalt. Alle Unterkünfte sind für Selbstversorger geeignet. Der nächste Supermarkt ist ein paar Minuten entfernt!Auto kann direkt vor dem Hauseingang geparkt werden & wird beleuchtet.
Leider entsprach die Unterkunft selbst nicht unseren Erwartungen. Die Häuser wirken insgesamt deutlich in die Jahre gekommen und teilweise recht abgenutzt. Besonders das Badezimmer war in einem renovierungsbedürftigen Zustand. Die Wasserhähne ließen sich nur schwer bedienen, und es dauerte sehr lange, bis warmes Wasser verfügbar war. Zunächst gingen wir sogar davon aus, dass nur Kaltwasser vorhanden sei. Auch der Innenbereich war für uns nicht besonders einladend. Es gab einen unangenehmen muffigen Geruch, wodurch wir uns nicht wohlgefühlt haben. Die Ausstattung der Terrasse beschränkte sich auf zwei einfache Plastikstühle, sodass auch dort keine gemütliche Atmosphäre aufkam. Wir hatten ursprünglich zwei Nächte gebucht, haben uns aufgrund der genannten Punkte jedoch entschieden, bereits nach einer Nacht wieder abzureisen. Die ruhige Lage ist positiv, der Zustand und Komfort der Unterkunft konnten uns jedoch leider nicht überzeugen.

Our cottage had everything needed and was very clean and private. Would recommend Hluhluwe Country Cottages to all my friends and family. Especially on your way to Sodwana or Kosi Bay areas or, for a base from which to explore the Hluhluwe /Umfolozi Game Reserve and other beautiful Nature reserves in the area.

Reviewed Apr 12, 2026Die Cottages liegen am Ortsrand von Hluhluwe und ruhig. Das Restaurant und die Brauerei bieten eine Rundumversorgung. Der Shop mit Zulu-Korbwaren ist sehr empfehlenswert. Kleiner Pool zum Abkühlen.
Das Doppelbett in unserem Cottage war nur 140cm breit, zu schmal für zwei Erwachsene. Es wurde nach einer Nacht zum Glück ausgetauscht. Eine Güterzuglinie führt nahe vorbei und macht mehrmals täglich auf sich aufmerksam. Ansonsten ist es aber herrlich ruhig.

We appreciate the country-style setting, and with some improvements it could be really great. However, there were yellow stains on the bathroom floor and walls, which was disappointing. The shower unit was also broken , we couldn’t use the corded shower without the unit coming loose.

Unfortunately it was very difficult to get the room serviced this time. I asked not to send anyone the first morning as there would be no dishes but I then didn't have anyone come around the next 4 mornings either, despite highlighting this after the second missed morning. Disappointing but should be seen as constructive criticism for some door handles signs to be used if you are worried about disturbing people,.

The wines are very expensive - huge mark ups- and there was no "cheaper" brands such as the house wine available.For example Warwick First Lady is about R130 at a bottle store and R440 (if I remember correctly) on your wine list?

Unfortunately due to hot and moist conditions geckos were bothersome and we all girls so afraid of such I felt there should be a repellant. And I was so traumatized when I find a frog in a shower my skin still crawls when I think about it, orange and black frog it was the first time I came across that kind

Reviewed Jan 4, 2026Lovely cottage with everything you need. The animals right outside with the little trail to run/walk was really nice first thing in the morning. The braai facilities and back porch looking out over the scenery was beautiful. Having the restaurant/bar right there was perfect after a long day. The host was very helpful especially as we were arriving on a holiday.
It was super hot and the kids were looking forward to using the pool but it was unavailable for the whole stay.

The three rooms were clean and comfortable, the kitchen was clean and well stocked, and the bathrooms were cleans with good showers. The restaurant nearby is great. It's in a quiet area and we all slept well. We didn't use the pool, however, it was very clean. We also got free fire lighters and charcoal for our braai. We would very happily stay there again.
A little stronger wifi would be good, however, it makes you switch off and enjoy the surroundings.
