Alex was very helpful,loved his way of urgency whenever i texted for assistance he would show up in time . We didnt preorder firewood and ended up doing it on site a single call Alex was at our door step with a bag full of wood,also checked the water temperature of the jacuzzi which he saw needed adjustement and boom the ball was rolling,i do recommend him he is a very good guy and also informative provided you initiate the conversation, the following day he cleaned the jacuzzi and gave us some hints on where to go for hiking ...

Our phone's had no or bad reception so was not very worried about it since there was wifi,only issue was the lag with wifi ,i ended up asking management to have a look on it and later own we had better speeds but with some lag here and there ,but this didnt ruin our stay ,we had a problem with Horse flies outside during braai time around 4/5pm we had to go inside and waited up untill it was dark those blood suckers were not playing around ,after dark they were gone ,our house on jacuzzi area i think a blind will do the magic for privacy its too open such that a passerby can see if one is nacked

Great location in the mountains .Proper coffee and oranges to make fresh orange juice.

Furniture slightly outdated and could definitely recommend owners to include comfortable sunbeds.

Very comfortable and good value for money!! Rustic but well equipped.. we had a lovely holiday! Great that pets are allowed!

Hot tub was quite tricky to find a good temp .. but otherwise everything was wonderful .. we’ll be back!!

The surrounds

The Opstal is a property used for events and, I guess, occasionally rented out. The kitchen smells and, as stated in the description, is set up for industrial catering. Fridges and freezers were full of food stored there, and there were no smaller pots… cooking utensils were suited for mass cooking. The lounge was stuffy. Furniture on the veranda dirty. There is a freezer outside the kitchen used to store ice to be sold to the other guests in the cottages so staff walks up and down, resulting in no privacy. Bedrooms are poorly maintained. Most had no bedside lights or missing bulbs. On our last night we had no hot water as the gas ran out. We won’t return.

We just couldn’t get the hot tub to heat up even though the staff member did try numerous times. But it was still lovely

This place is an absolute gem. Location again on the hillside overlooking a beautiful valley, only a few km from Citrusdal. The decor was real farmhouse style, and the facilites/utilies were great, even including a splash pool and jacuzzi

Last 100m of road

Een heerlijk huisje met mooi uitzicht en met jacuzzi op het terras. Echt gezellig ingericht en alles was aanwezig. Echt genoten van locatie en de wandeling vanuit het huis. Echt een aanrader voor een koppel maar ook ideaal voor vrienden of gezinnen.

The views, jacuzzi and the hiking trail were all fully utilized and was really enjoyed. The fresh oranges and juicer were a nice add on and made a great memory.

Een geweldige locatie op een citrusfarm midden in de natuur. Bij binnenkomst kwamen we manager Alex tegen die ons hartelijk welkom heette en bij wie we nog hout konden kopen voor de open haard binnen! In de overdekte stoep ligt een jacuzzi die aanstond toen we aankwamen en waar we meteen insprongen. Fantastisch! Bedden comfortabel, grote badkamer. Cabin van alle gemakken voorzien, met zelfs grote kussens buiten waar je buiten op kunt liggen. Ik kom hier graag nog eens terug om te genieten van de wandelingen, de rust en de jacuzzi! Dank Alex en Cederkloof.

The environment and location of the cottage was beautiful. To be surrounded by nature like that was the best. There is peace and quiet. All cutlery and crockery was provided.

A fantastic stay in a beautiful setting. The charming cottage is tucked away amongst stunning botanical gardens, creating a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The service was excellent, with thoughtful touches that made our stay even more special. We highly recommend Cederkloof Botanical Retreat to anyone looking to enjoy beautiful natural surroundings. The 2-hour hiking trail was an unexpected bonus—not too strenuous, with spectacular views across the entire valley.

Such a lovely peaceful environment! Definitely a relaxing retreat after a long day of meetings and driving. The house has everything you need and the jacuzzi was a wonderful treat! Thank you Lizette and team for a wonderful stay!

Amazing getaway located in an amazing location. Gorgeous hiking trails.

Room was a little bit stuffy when we arrived due the fire place but other than that it was great.

You feel immersed in nature. Very comfortable cottage with well equipped kitchenette and warm and comfy beds. Stoep, jacuzzi and braai pit were favourite places to relax. Enjoyed the short hike even though we took the wrong route and got home 2.5hrs later. Beautifully tended fynbos gardens.

WiFi and electricity goes off . 1 to 6 times daily any time . Plus wifi poor . Jacuzzi can't stay on whole day only certain times . And it's very Hott .

Absolutely incredible location! The pond was stunning and the perfect place to experience a peaceful weekend with the sounds of nature from the jacuzzi. The cottage was very homey and warm. We were assisted by Alex who was incredibly helpful, always around when we needed him and did everything with a smile on his face. Such a perfect stay!

Trail markings were confusing, we got lost on both the olifants and fairy routes. It was stunning, but could use some more signs marking the way.

The location was Brillant. Loved the nature and the peacefulness. Alex was very helpful and amazing.

We paid for a luxury honeymoon suite, but unfortunately the experience was far from luxurious. The jacuzzi was especially disappointing — because of the netting above it and not covered properly and we could only really enjoy it properly once the rain had cleaned everything off. The kitchen area was outdated and not appealing, and overall the furniture and facilities felt old. There was also no proper lounge area to relax in, which made the suite feel uncomfortable rather than cozy or romantic. For a honeymoon suite at this price point, we expected a much more luxurious, modern, and welcoming experience.

The birding was amazing. We enjoyed the hiking. Jacuzzi every night is the best life. Alex is an amazing manager thank you Alex for everything. Great venue, met some other really nice people there as well. Definitely coming back next year

There was a big storm that made it difficult to access the property

The facilities were clean. Loved the surroundings.

Inadequate investment goin into the facilities. Aircon was not warming up the place. The jacuzzi was taking forever to warm up and it was a cold stay due to bad weather . By now you would have expected the old cement floor to give way to descent tiling. Lastly you he ave one poor guy servicing every chalet, but most of his time was occupied managing the generator's load as it is seemingly inadequate for all the electricity consumption needs.

Lovely stay nearby Citrusdal. Beautiful, quiet resort with many flowers and birds. Cool local hikes to do. A jacuzzi (that might be a little warm, but we turned it off for a while to cool down). Phenomenal beds.

WiFi was a little slow, besides that 100% score for this location.

The jacuzzi, love everything was clean and everything was there to use.

The location was beautiful and peaceful. Our cottage was next to a pond which has lots of bird life and other wildlife which was lovely to watch from the hot tub. We enjoyed our stay even though the facilities could have been better kept.

The nature trails were overgrown and lacked maintenance. There were signs of neglect with broken signs and a deck which was once next to the pond having collapsed and just left to rot. General maintenance of light fittings and door locks was lacking. There was also rubbish and litter near the start of the longer walk.

The mountains, hiking trails, coffee bean grinder, coffee beans, jacuzzi, indoor fireplace, pet friendly, white bed linen, privacy, spectacular views.

The roads and gardens need maintenance. Irrigation lying around, overgrown gardens and weeds taking over is not acceptable. Both taps at the kitchen zink need washers. Very difficult to open/close and drips the whole night.

I liked the scenic location and the hot tub.

Absolutely nothing

We went for our 45th Anniversary and we were welcome by the staff cause we 1st find out at the opstal where is our cottage. And the staff were all smiling and showed us where the number starts. Everything were we'll kept Thank you Alex for the extra mile with the jacuzzi.

Alex attending to us was very friendly and helpful.

The cottage needs a facelift to ensure it is worth the money spend staying there. The bedding had a torn cover. Outdoor table needs some cleaning. The bathroom floor needs a new coat of paint.

The place was amazing peaceful.

It's a very quiet peaceful retreat to be at. Rustic but adequate . An amazing number of birds almost as if you are living in an aviary. Alex the manager was a star

Definitely felt as if you are in a nature but with the all the luxuries of a modern home- WiFi, aircon and a jacuzzi!

We absolutely loved our honeymoon stay! The privacy was perfect, and the beautiful scenery and calming sounds of nature (especially the birds) made it so special. The air-con was a big bonus, especially on the warmer nights. A big thank you for the champagne 🥂, it was such a thoughtful touch! We would highly recommend this place for a romantic getaway — the jacuzzi just adds to the whole experience. 💕

The only downside was the mosquitoes, but thankfully repellent helped there as well as the air-con

The serenity, the birdlife, sheer relaxation in a quiet, peaceful environment. The walks, hike and views. It's wonderful to relax in the jacuzzi - cool water in summer and warm water in winter 😁

I was disappointed with the state of the walking and hiking trails this visit - a lot of natural vegetation cut away but not cleared and the small walk over the bridge and alongside the stream now overgrown and inaccessible.

Wir hatten 10 Stunden am Abend und die Nacht über keinen Strom. Management war nicht erreichbar. Da weiß man die Handytaschenlampe zu schätzen.

Loved the quiet and the privacy even with many others around, pool area was a great bonus for us in the heat.

There was no steak knives sounds small but difficult to cut meat with a bread knife.

Wir hatten das Cottage Nr. 2 mit wirklich toller Aussicht. Die Unterkunft ist gut ausgestattet und hat alles was man braucht. Der Whirlpool ist ein Highlight!

Der Anfahrtsweg ist etwas abenteuerlich, aber es klappte mit unserem Kleinwagen. Die Türen sind nicht dicht… also Mückenmittel mitbringen. 😊 Wir machten den kleinen Wanderweg, was schon etwas herausfordernd war. Leider ist dieser Weg so gut wie nicht ausgeschildert und auch nicht von Gräsern und Ästen befreit. Ab und zu war es schwierig den Weg zu finden. Schade…

Fill the fridge with some snacks and cold drinks, if guests do consume anything they can pay for what was used when checking out. The accommodation is amazing but not close to a shop if you do feel like a snack or something to drink during the night.

The location is wonderful, the beds are very comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. The check in was very easy and the staff was great.

The place can be unrivaled, but needs serious maintenance on the property. The windows and doors dont close property, the floors and counter tops needs a revamp, and the microwave looked like it went to war inside.
