It's an amazing place. Definitely recommended. It's cheap and has amazing ambience. And the gurudwara is like a 6 minutes walk.

The staff was really amazing, and the place was comfortable, welcoming, and had such a warm, homely vibe. I truly enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend it.

The stay was okay, not the best, but still good. There is room for improvement in cleanliness, but the staff were polite and helpful. The Wagah Border tour arranged by them was the highlight. Vicky explained several historical sites to us along the way, and we had a great time on the tour. The location is also close to the Golden Temple and other sightseeing places.

My stay at Madpackers was amazing. The staff is very welcoming, thoughtful and did their best to accommodate me even arriving quite early in the morning. The hostel is well located, neat and tidy. I do recommend any traveller to host here.

Location was convenient

No privacy , staff would let any random person walk in and enter your premises. No lock or security in the shared dorm room. Washrooms are a mess. Wouldn't recommend if you are traveling with someone.

Wonderful service by the Madpackers Amritsar team. They really go above and beyond to make you comfortable even after your stay has ended. Place is very close to the Golden temple. Highly recommend.

A very nice place to be at in Amritsar. Samar Paaji and team were very friendly and helpful with whatever was needed. Very close to Golden temple.

The area of the property could be very confusing at first as it’s in a crowded area. But your opinion changes when you stay. The AC was not being turned on for the whole day which I felt was the only drawback.

Staff at reception was super nice and friendly, the room was clean with good AC. We also did a great tour to the border with the guy Vicky, who was really funny and a good storyteller as long as you can take some personal jokes.

We wanted to eat at the cafe/restaurant at the hostel for lunch one day but out of the whole menu we were told only one option was available… the food we got was tasty though and freshly prepared.

Welcoming hostel in walking distance to Golden Temple. Clean rooms, with lovely cafe vibes.

A friendly chef who prepared delicious meals and gave a lecture on Indian spices; an organized trip to the Pakistani border with an entertaining guide named Vici; a well-equipped, air-conditioned room (though without closets).

A filtred water for the guests was just apart the room, but a bit warm.

The room is small with no ventilation, but both the room and the bathroom were clean.The staff were friendly and helpful. The biggest plus for me was that I felt safe as a first-time female solo traveller to Amritsar. About the room: There is a small kettle and glasses next to the nightstand, but you have to buy your own coffee/tea/milk/sugar powders. There is no complimentary soap/toothbrush/paste, so make sure to carry that as well. Additionally, the roads to the hostel are narrow, so if you have a lot of luggage, a cab might not be able to drop you in front of the building. There are no elevators.

The top and bottom latches on the door were broken, so the only way to secure the room was with a key, which was a little worrying at night as anyone with a duplicate key could have accessed the room from outside while I slept. Hope this gets fixed soon. The comforter on the bed could use replacing -- it was old and rough against the skin.

The washroom. I stayed in a 4 sharing private bathroom. It can be better. Water doesn’t come from the shower. However, no complaints otherwise.

The stay and staff were good! They all were very helpful, informative and accommodating! The location was close to most of the main spots like golden temple and Jallianwala bagh and they organise fun trips to the Wagha border and around the city

The ambiance was great. On the top floor you can have snacks and drinks. The people who managed this property were humble and caring.

Had an amazing 2-day stay at Madpackers Amritsar! The stay was clean, comfortable, and had a great atmosphere. A special thanks to Samar Bhai for being so welcoming and helping me with my late-night check-in. Also, a big shout-out to Vicky Bhai, our guide and driver, who was incredibly kind and knowledgeable. The location is perfect—very close to the Golden Temple and Jallianwala Bagh, making it easy to explore the city. Highly recommended!

The room which I have been assigned didn't have a common washroom and It was not mentioned while booking as well and the washroom which i used was not good at all

The staff were friendly, it can be maintained better. For the price it was value for money.

They arranged bagha border trip worth 300/- which was good at atleast

The common washroom and toilet was of so bad condition and room also too tiny for 4 members and most importantly they have switched off the AC in day time

The tuktuk driver (Vicky) talked too much when I was on the tour to the boarder. Some personal questions shouldn't be asked at the trip. I don't feel comfortable when he asked about those personal questions. And I don't like he made fun of us, that's not nice!

Conveniently located in the city centre. Spacious and tidy room. Lovely roof terrace where you can meet other travellers in the evening and have a pint. Great atmosphere.

Amazing hospitality and excellent stay!! Good standard as always. I had a wonderful time at this hostel. Great atmosphere and clean facilities. Consistently good standards (met my expectations from my previous stay). But the absolute highlight of this hostel is the common area. It’s the perfect space to hang out, unwind, and meet fellow travelers. Whether you want to read a book, play a game, or just strike up a conversation with someone new, the layout makes it so easy and natural. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable stay with a great social atmosphere. Will definitely be back!

Good location, they have a cafe for breakefast in the terrace, but they take their time to be open. Still is good and the guy in the caffe was cool!

For the dorm I stayed in, The bathroom it’s upstairs and on the terrace, when I was there there was no power. So I kind of have to shower with the door slightly open to see something inside. They have a blanket for the bed with no cover, it didn’t feel very clean.

Location and service from the staff

Though the service and location are great and commendable, everything else is an absolute letdown. We pre-booked a private room for four nights, and after seeing the room, we immediately regretted it. The room was dusty, bed was so firm that we had a excruciating back ache for all four days. Nowadays, a good bed might cost them somewhere between 6 to 7K, they will get it online in a day and they didn’t even try to do that, is what hurts me. Taking a consumer for granted. They charged us a considerable amount and good bed was least expected. Window AC from the 2000s didn’t add to the overall experience. Especially if someone’s looking for a private room, they’ll get it at a better price, with better facilities, even at a better location. I absolutely don’t recommend staying in a private room here. I have to add, I’m no first time traveller, I have been a nomad for more than 8 years, lived and travelled across India and South East Asia. I have seen exceptional hostels, at even lower price. I don’t know why our hostels are like this. Having travelled far and wide, the conditions of such hostels for the price they charge hurt more.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The location is excellent, with the Golden Temple just a 10-minute walk away, making it very convenient to explore the nearby attractions on foot. The mattresses were very comfortable, which helped me get a good night's sleep after a long day of sightseeing. I also appreciated that each bunk bed had its own privacy curtain and a personal locker with a separate key, which made the stay feel secure and comfortable. The staff were polite, helpful, and welcoming throughout my stay. The hostel also provided a great opportunity to meet and interact with travelers from different countries, making the experience even more memorable.

The only downside for me was that some evenings there were people drinking alcohol on the terrace area, including individuals associated with the hostel. Although they were not causing any disturbance or behaving inappropriately, I personally felt a bit uncomfortable with the atmosphere, especially when I went there to relax and enjoy some fresh air. This may not be an issue for everyone, but it slightly affected my overall experience. And the lights shown in the pictures are not there in real.
