Kanuka Ridge Lodge

Location is beautiful and peaceful and a short drive from the start of the Abel Tasman walking track.. Our room had a terrace looking out over the rainforest. The owner was very friendly and helpful.

Location is a bit isolated up a steep drive. OK if you have a car though. We had an en'suite room which was a bit small but it does say that in the listing.

Great location near Marahau and central to Kaiteriteri and Tākaka, Cape Farewell direction. Attractive bush environment, facilities well-designed and convenient. Economical (in off-season, at least).

We had a lovely stay here in our double en-suite room. The room itself was pristine and had a lovely balcony to sit on and listen to the birds whilst having our cuppa. Great to have tea and coffee facilities as well as the communal.kitchen. It was just a short drive to Marahua which is gorgeous and a great place to go kayaking from.or get the water taxi up the coast. Stuart gave us some great info on the area. The room itself was very comfortable. And although described as very small was bigger than some other places we had been. It was also good to have a big bed (very comfy too). I had a great sleep here, and the bedside cabinets were great. Much better than some decorative tiny tables we've had on our trip. Great place for stargazing too! If storage is an issue for you, just leave some stuff in your car.

To be fair this is mentioned on their site but our room really had no space for luggage, the chairs on the balcony needed some better padding to be comfortable, never had any contact with staff at all - key was left out when we checked in - no staff, and left in a bowl on checkout - no staff and it wasn’t like we came or went at odd hours, while their was dining tables in 5he kitchen area no real lounge to hangout in

Sehr freundliches und zuvorkommendes Personal. Je nach Zimmerbuchung hat man ein eigenes Bad oder ein Gemeinschaftsbad und eine Gemeinschaftsküche. Alles war immer tip top sauber. Die Aussicht vom Balkon aus in die Natur lässt die Seele baumeln. Die ganze Anlage ist sehr ruhig. Der Sternenhimmel von dort zu beobachten ist genial und mit dem Auto ist man in 5 Min. in Marahau.

Es ist sauber und wunderschön dort. Die Gastgeber sind so herzlich und hilfsbereit. Wir waren traurig als wir nach drei Tagen weiterreisen mussten. Wir würden sofort wieder dort buchen.

Es gibt nichts Negatives zu berichten-es war alles tipptopp

Einfaches Zimmer mit kleinem Balkon und Ausblick ins Grüne. Die Sauberkeit der Duschen und Toiletten.

Man muss bewusst sein, dass die Toiletten und Duschen in einem anderen Haus mit den restlichen Bewohnern der Lodge geteilt werden.

החדר ממש קטן, החימום כל הזמן נכבה כי הוא על טיימר וצריך להדליק אותו שוב ושוב, אחרת קר מאד. המקלחת מאד לא נוחה, הדוש מקובע ולא ניתן להזיז לשום כיוון.

We had an amazing stay, the room was extremely comfortable and facilities were clean and well stocked, we cooked and enjoyed eating out on the outside table. It was lovely having a hammock area, parking was so convenient, Stuart was funny, helpful and great chat. He humoured our 10 hour walk in Abel Tasman and subsequent aches!

Our cabin was super clean, we had a great chat and laugh with Stuart (little) on arrival who gave us some great tips for abel Tasman and surrounding area. Kitchen was super clean and bathrooms were too, showers had good pressure.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Kanuka Ridge Lodge. It is a very nice hide away in nature very close to Marahau - entrance to able tasman. Superfriendly and helpful owners. Very cosy and clean. We wish we had stayed longer.

The wonderful Stuart. He made our stay so much fun even if he tried to kill us with his recommendations on where to visit. Ha ha. He couldn't master the weather. He is very knowledgeable about the area. He even upgraded us due to our age. Great place with good facilities in the wonderful Abel Tasman. Must come back.

לצערי קצת התאכזבתי מהמקום. מדובר באכסניה שנמצאת במיקום מושלם ומקום יפה מאוד, והחדרים היו נחמדים ונקיים. קבלת הפנים בכניסה היתה יעילה ונעימה (למרות שלא היה איש במשרד, חיכה לנו מפתח והוראות ברורות)

לנו היתה חסרה פרטיות: לכל חדר יש כניסה ויציאה שפונה למרחב הציבורי (מרפסת משותפת מאחור וחלון גדול עם וילון לחזית). בחלקים המשותפים היה נראה שבעוד שחשוב למקום להדגיש את הכללים שחלים על האורחים - הם לא עושים מאמץ לספק לנו נוחות: 20 איש צריכים לנגב את הכלים במטבח עם 3 מגבות בלבד, שמהר מאד נרטבות. בשירותים יש 2 כיורים קטנים ואין מתלים למגבות או מדפים להניח עליהם חפצים אישיים. לתחושתי - עם מאמץ קטן מצד המקום אפשר היה להפוך את השהות להרבה יותר נוחה.

Great location, nice and clean

Our room and the grounds were very clean and well looked after. The shared kitchen was clean and well stocked. The owners were very helpful and knowledgeable.

Location is great, easy access to both the Abel tasman walk and the split rock beach. It is a bit distance from the town where the restaurants are, but there is a nice kitchen in the lodge and we ended up prepared most of our meals there. I saw people doing bbq and drinking wine on the patio which is actually even better. The room is not 5 star but has a good vide of cabin in the woods feeling and great star gazing at night too. Staff is very friendly and help with any questions.

The shower is limited to 5 minutes which is not a problem, but the shower head is a little old and the water does not flow evenly which actually wasted some water. A new and better shower head would be good.

The location, manager( Stu) views, cleanliness were all amazing!

Not having our own toilet ( some chalets did) but the shared ones were spotless.

Deck felt like you were in the middle of a rain forest. Stunningly beautiful

Mooie kamer, vooral huisje 8 was ruim. Goede voorzieningen om te koken en ontbijten. Stuart is een geweldige gastheer, geïnteresseerd in zijn gasten en maakt van je verblijf een bijzondere ervaring

Beautiful natuve bush setting, very clean, neat facilities eg BBQ, ping pong table, hammocks, deck with lovely views.

The only little suggestion I have is a small fold out luggage rack in the room for bags.

Vlak bij abel tasman, ruime kamer, zeer goede wifi, aardige host. Schoon. Je kon buiten openingstijden inchecken.

De koelkast ging zo moeizaam open, liep vast op de vloerbedekking. Even de koelkast op 4 blokjes hout zetten zou al schelen. Soms best druk in de gemeenschappelijke keuken. De wc en douche waren in een apart gebouw, op zich prima, maar niet handig s nachts met harde regen en geen paraplu.

Very cute place run by Stewart (you can tell he has come across many travellers in his life). Even if we arrived after check in hours, he got out of his way to welcome us and give us the best tips for our short stay in the Abel Tasman Region. I would definitely stay there again.

We loved our stay here. It's a beautiful location in the national park surrounded by nature. Stuart the host elevates the experience, he's great fun and a mine of information. You have to understand that these are a number of co-located small lodges and manage expectations around this. We were travelling with our 2 sons. We had a lodge with an ensuite bathroom, they had one with a kitchen but no bathroom. There is a well equipped kitchen/ dining and shower unit in the centre of the camp with fridges for food. It was very clean. Kept tidy, comfy beds and good showers. What is really lovely is sitting on our veranda listening to the birds, you are just feet away from the wildlife. It's a great location if you want to explore the national park. It's great fun getting a water taxi and exploring sections along the Abel Tasman way or getting kayaks.

Nothing - just don't expect a hotel.

Sehr schön und ruhig gelegen, nahe am Startpunkt des Abel Tasman Trails. Sehr freundliche Gastgeber. Die Küche ist gut bestückt und sauber. Mir hat der Sitzplatz mit Blick in die Bäume sehr gut gefallen!

This is a really lovely lodge - well laid out, sunny and surrounded by bush. We had a separate room which had its own lawn around it so we could eat breakfast at a table in the sun. The shared kitchen and bathrooms were cleaned/tidied twice a day. There are 2 benches with sink and cook top, a microwave and a mini oven plus all the pots, pans and crockery/cutlery you would ever need. Some rooms have their own bathroom but for the rooms sharing the bathroom, there were 3 toilets in total and 2 showers plus 2 sinks and a washing machine and dryer. Good beds and towels provided too.

The only thing that some people might not like is that the toilet doors don't go all the way to the ground so if privacy if is a big deal for you, perhaps try to get one of the rooms with its own bathroom. Surprisingly, even though the lodge was full, we didn't have any issues with queuing for showers or toilets.
