Nothing in particular, but if I have to mention something breakfast is set, asian breakfast, no options, but it was fine.

Die Besitzer waren total nett und bemüht, sie haben uns bei Fragen, Problemen oder bezüglich Transportmittel beraten und stets ihre Hilfe angeboten. Es war echt ein wahnsinnig schöner Aufenthalt umgeben von dem schönen grünen Garten & das Frühstück war köstlich!

La limpieza y la amabilidad.

Para empezar me metieron en una habitación con aire acondicionado pero el hombre me dijo que como en mi reserva no aparecía aire acondicionado le tenía que pagar un 40% más del precio a lo cual acepté. Me intentaron cobrar un 15% más de lo que debía pero hice las cuentas y se lo enseñé y no puso problema. Lo cierto es que fueron muy amables y estoy muy contento con eso. Gracias a eso y a la limpieza es la puntuación no tan negativa. Sucede que el agua caliente se conectaba hacia el lado derecho cuando siempre es al revés me hubiese dado cuenta ya que intenté hacia los dos lados pero resulta que había que estar más de tres minutos hasta que salía el agua caliente y teniendo en cuenta que estaba colocada hacia el lado incorrecto obviamente no estuve tres minutos de cada lado y me duche con agua fría por la mañana y por la noche.

Wir hatten eine tolle Zeit im Girilena Resort. Die Unterkunft war sehr sauber und geräumig und entspricht den Fotos. Die Lage ist toll, fußläufig kann der Höhlentempel erreicht werden. Das Frühstück war köstlich, sehr authentisch und reichhaltig. Wir kamen erst später an, trotzdem wurde uns spontan ein sehr leckeres Abendessen gezaubert. Die Familie war wahnsinnig nett und hilfsbereit. Sie haben uns bei all unseren Problemen und Anliegen unterstützt und hatten immer gute Tipps für uns. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist hervorragend!

Wie schon in anderen Kommentaren erwähnt, wurde uns vom Gastgeber bei der Fahrt mit seinem Tuktuk angeboten, einen Abstecher zu einem Gewürze-Wald zu machen. Dies ist erstmal ein nettes Angebot, hier sollte man jedoch etwas vorsichtig sein, dass man nicht in eine Touristenfalle tappt.

Posto davvero bello, immerso nella natura, il personale è stato super gentile con noi e ci ha aiutato ad organizzare tutte le escursioni che volevamo fare. Abbiamo fatto colazione e pranzo da loro, ci hanno cucinato piatti tipici buonissimi, meglio che al ristorante! Se volete vivere una vera esperienza Srilankese questo è il posto giusto!

Girilena Resort was a very comfortable place to stay and perfectly located for a short walk to the Rock Temple. Local breakfast was delicious and generous. Dinner at Golden Rainbow close by was a superb Sri Lankan local curry buffet, the best we have experienced during our travels in Sri Lanka.

Naprosto výjimečné místo v blízkosti chrámového komplexu. Krásná zahrada s palmami po kterých skáčou opice. Majitelé byli velice milí a ochotni, cítili jsme se jako na návštěvě u rodiny. Pan majitel nám vše doporučil a vždy jeho tipy byly skvělé. Zajistil nám Safari, odvezl nás na Sigiriya a poslední den i na autobus. Snídaně i večeře byly naprosto dokonalé, Janaka je výborná kuchařka s opravdu srdečným přístupem.

Wonderful hotel! My stay here left me with the absolute best impressions, first and foremost thanks to the amazing, incredibly pleasant, and welcoming hosts who live on-site in the neighboring building. ​The location is just superb! The hotel is situated right at the foot of the mountain, making it quick and easy to walk to the famous Dambulla Cave Temple. It's also very convenient to hike up the mountain from here to catch a breathtaking sunset. ​A special and huge thanks to the host Janaka. He was incredibly helpful with sightseeing! Janaka has his own Tuk-tuk, which we used to get around everywhere. On top of that, he personally accompanied me on a safari, where he showed me around 50 elephants in total! It was unforgettable. ​Thank you so much for such amazing hospitality! I will definitely be back.

The surrounding gardens are beautiful, set in a tropical forest. You can watch monkeys in their natural environment, swinging through the trees as they make their way back to the rock in the evening. There's a great spot to watch the sunset across the road and a short climb up a huge rock. It's a very relaxing and rejuvenating place to stay. Also it is close to the Rock caves and the golden Buddha. I would also recommend that you have an evening meal cooked by Nisha. Such nourishing, delicious food with a good variety of vegetables protein and rice and made to your specifications of spiciness. Janaka was great driving me to Sigiriya at 4.45 am and later, driving me to Kandy. Such a lovely family with 3 friendly and smart children. I was sad to leave today.

The mosquitoes were horrendous just before dark. My jungle strength natural.repellent worked well, as long as I sprayed my clothes well.

Sehr nette Gastgeberfamilie, die toll für uns gekocht haben. Auch das Frühstück war super! Und wirklich authentisches, einheimisches Essen. Die Lage ist toll, direkt an einem großen Felsen, den man besteigen kann, mitten in Dambulla, aber sehr ruhig in der Natur.

Es gab leider kein bei unserem Aufenthalt warmes Wasser zum duschen, das soll sich aber ändern.

Wir waren rundum zufrieden mit unserem Aufenthalt im Girilena Resort! Wir haben das Treehouse gemietet, eine richtig coole Erfahrung und perfekt zum Ankommen in Sri Lanka. Ab und zu hatten wir Besuch von einem Hausgecko oder Affen in den Bäumen vor der Weranda des Häusschens, was zwar kurz ungewohnt war, aber irgendwie auch dazugehört. Die Gastfreundschaft war außergewöhnlich herzlich – man lebt quasi mit der Familie zusammen. Das Essen war nicht nur super günstig und die Portionen riesig, sondern vor allem richtig, richtig gut und sehr abwechslungsreich, tatsächlich haben wir danach kaum noch so gutes Essen in Sri Lanka gegessen. Auch Ausflüge wurden unkompliziert organisiert (inkl. Tuk-Tuk-Service und einer tollen Elefantensafari). Zusätzlich konnten wir verschiedene Kokosnüsse vor Ort probieren, was ein schönes Extra war. Insgesamt eine klare Empfehlung, ein perfekter Start in unsere Reise!

Sehr nette Familie, Frühstück sehr lecker! Waren im TreeHouse untergebracht. Schon was Besonderes, aber Achtung steile Treppe runter ins Bad. Hier und da Tierchen unterwegs. Ein bisschen Jungle Feeling. Höhlentempel fußläufig, fanden wir aber sehr touristisch dort oben. Gastgeber selbst hat TukTuk nach Sigiriya gefahren und zurück. Etwas Vorsicht ist geboten währenddessen nicht bei Tourist Traps abgesetzt zu werden. . Eine solide Unterkunft mit gutem Preis Leistungsverhältnis, damit ich 9 oder 10 Punkte gebe muss mich eine Unterkunft, aber vom Hocker hauen.

Struttura gestita da una famiglia molto accogliente. Bellissimo il giardino dove abbiamo anche fatto la colazione migliore del nostro viaggio in Sri Lanka. Consiglio di prenotare o richiedere le camere al primo piano, noi eravamo a pian terreno e la camera era un po' umida.

Wat een lieve mensen en wat een heerlijke plek midden in de natuur, tussen de apen en bij de rots. Op loopafstand van de grotten. En wat kan zij koken. Heerlijk. Ze doen er alles aan om je het naar de zin te maken en brengen je tot slot nog met de tuk tuk naar de bus. Vooral de boomhut was leuk om te verblijven.

Wir waren hier für 2 Nächte und fanden es super schön. Wir hatten ein Zimmer oben mit Balkon, das Zimmer war riesig und auch sehr sauber, der Balkon war außerdem zum sitzen echt top :) Die Besitzer sind super sympathisch und herzlich und ehrlich interessiert daran, wer bei ihnen wohnt. Wir wurden sogar von unserer vorherigen Unterkunft abgeholt und auch zur nächsten mit dem tuktuk von ihnen gebracht. Und auch vor Ort in dambulla wurden wir super beraten, was man dort alles machen kann! Außerdem war das Essen echt der Hammer! Wir haben beide Abende dort Rice and Curry gegessen und das Frühstück morgens war ebenfalls sehr abwechslungsreich und super lecker authentisch gekocht. Uns hat es dort sehr gut gefallen!

wir wurden sehr herzlich empfangen und die Unterkunft ist ideal um die Sehenswürdigkeiten zu besichtigen. Man kann den golden Tempel zu Fuß erreichen ohne Probleme. Der Gastgeber unterstützen wo es geht mit allem haben uns auch den weiteren Transfer organisiert. Es ist eine authentische und einfache Unterkunft allerdings funktioniert alles tadellos, sehr bequemes Bett, die Klimaanlage funktioniert einwandfrei… durchaus weiterzuempfehlen!

De boomhut is super mooi. Echt een fijne ervaring. De gastheer en gastvrouw waren super vriendelijk en hadden altijd een glimlach. Ook hielpen ze direct waar nodig. Ontbijt is ook zeer uitgebreid en lekker.

Bardzo podobało nam się położenie domku , w ogrodzie będącym pozostałością po dżungli Rano i wieczorem przechodziły obok stada małp, skakały wiewiórki, słychać było cykady i ptaki. Siedzenie na tarasie sprawiało nam wielką przyjemność. Był to świetny punkt wypadowy do zwiedzania świątyń w Dambulla-500m, jak również do wypadów do Sigirija i Polonnaruwa. Dzięki serdecznym gospodarzom czuliśmy się jak w domu, byli pomocni we wszystkim czego potrzebowaliśmy. Dużym atutem były lokalne śniadania przygotowywane przez gospodynię, dodatkowo wykupiliśmy sobie kolację i to był strzał w dziesiątkę, bo dania były przepyszne, porcje bardzo duże i urozmaicone..

Trochę było za ciemno w domku, mogłoby być więcej światła.

L'accoglienza e la gentilezza dello staff, posizione strategica molto vicina al tempio di Danbulla, servizi e stanza molto pulita e fresca, grazie all'aria condizionata.

I gestori sono molto gentili e disponibili. Abbiamo cenato entrambe le sere presso la struttura: il cibo ottimo e la compagnia dei gestori pure. Consiglio vivamente questa struttura a chi vuole immergersi in un semplice ambiente famigliare.

The hosts were so nice and took care of us. They prepared us wonderful breakfast and dinner and offered to take us with their tuk tuk on trips to nearby places. We stayed in the treehouse and enjoyed our stay a lot. It was beautifully decorated. Also, the locality is perfect as it is away from the rush street but in 15 minutes you walk to the Cave Rock temple entrance.

If you’re after a calm, natural spot for a relaxing budget holiday, it’s best to consider this.

Great place! The room was comfortable and spacious, a very welcoming family in a cozy yard and monkeys in the garden. Just 10 minutes walk away from the cave temple and the owner drove us with his tuk tuk to Sigiryia, offering all kind of possible activities based on your taste and needs. The breakfast was delicious for any kind of palate.

It was a very clean place. Very near the main attractions in Dambulla, I went for a walk to see them. Very nice staff, very helpful, I made my laundry and get the bottled, safe water.

It was too noisy. It wasn’t about the animals but some coconuts or stones bumping into the tent. It was impossible to sleep well, but it was the only issue.

We loved that it was a family run guest house with lovely welcoming owners. The treehouse was a rustic experience and their three bed room was very comfortable and clean. The garden was really lovely and we enjoyed having breakfast there every morning. The breakfast was home made, varied and very filling! Owners were very informative and keen to help which meant we could navigate Dambulla a lot better, and they even drove us to Sigiriya Rock. The location was a walking distance to the cave temple which was very convenient.

The airconditioning was difficult to work properly, making the room very hot then very cold. This was the only thing in an excellent stay.

The family was very friendly and helpful during the few days we spent there. We felt like part of the family, as if we had known each other for a long time. They offered transportation as an option for the planned point of interest. We didn't have to spend time organizing the trip anymore! Everything was fine and I recommend it to anyone! We enjoyed our stay at Girilena a lot. The host family is very warm and welcoming. We were offered a little welcome come drink (juice) on arrival. Room was spacious with a double bed and an additional single bed for the 4 of us with basic amenities such as kettle with tea and coffee. We enjoyed the homemade breakfast and dinner cooked by our hosts which gave us a glimpse into local Sri Lankan cuisine. Delicious. The Dambulla cave temple is just a 10-15 min walk away and one can enjoy stunning sunset views from the rock right across the small local street of the guesthouse. To get to the center of Dambulla, one may need a Tuk Tuk but the owner is happy to help with any request (thank you again for getting us a beer from the store). A drop-off at the bus stand was no problem. It’s a lovely and warm family and our kids enjoyed to play along with their boys in the garden.

We had a lovely time in the tree house. The owners of the homestay are so friendly and caring people. We enjoyed delicious Sri Lankan breakfast and dinner, they prepared for us in the middle of the garden while we were watching the monkeys chasing each other. Also, on the rock next to the house, you can see the sunset and have a great view, you can even see the lion rock of Sigiria in the distance.  We loved that place. Thank you for your great hospitality.

A wonderful place to stay. The hosts are kind and friendly, and the home cooked food is exceptional. We took the simple tour of the area offered up to Pidurangala (we skipped the Lion Rock rip off). Just out of town it's a quiet and charming place.

There was nothing not to like. It suited our tastes perfectly and the owners are just lovely people you wish the absolute best for.

It's a no frills hotel with four rooms. However, it's comfortable enough and good enough for short stays. The location in a wooded area just behind the Dambulla Rock temple is excellent. The access road is unpaved so that traveling in a high ground clearance vehicle is recommended. The rooms are very well maintained and are spotlessly clean. The bed is comfortable and tea/coffee making facility is available. One thing lacking here is a cupboard. There's access to a large balcony facing the jungle and the rock behind the temple premises. One can walk to the temple in about 10 minutes. Even the Dambulla town is within walking distance. Ibbankatuwa lake is about 10 minutes by vehicle. Minneriya and Ecopark national parks are readily accessible from here. The host family that lives in the same premises is extremely humble, friendly and helpful.

The location of the accommodation is around 10 minutes to the cave temple and then down to the Golden Buddha, also a nice walk up to an unknown/ non touristic sunset and panoramic viewpoint. The breakfast and dinner we ate were delicious with lots of variation and great portions. The hosts are very friendly and helpful with offering organized activities and providing suggestions. They also provide tuktuk rides to sigiriya, around dumbulla and even drove us to our next destination kandy. As it is a jungle location, there are cute squirrels and lizards to be seen.

When we stayed the shower water wasn't hot but was refreshing after a warm day out exploring. This didn't pose a problem to us

Great location in Dambulla. Not very far from the center but tucked away from the hustling city, very quiet place with a real nature feel and a walking distance from Dambulla caves. Nice views from a viewpoint just off the house. Many birds, monkeys and squirrels around the garden. The hosts are so lovely and attentive! I'm a solo traveller that didn't have a very defined plan and they helped me to decide what to visit in the surroundings. The host took me on the tuktuk to the bus stop and I independently visited Sigiriya and Polonnaruwa on day trips. They can organise the tours on the tuktuk as well. Breakfast and dinner were excellent, much more than I could eat and varied everyday, a week in Sri Lanka and hands off the best food I had so far. The room was very spacious with clean bedsheets and towel and a kettle with tea/coffee.

It was my best stay in Srilanka till date in terms of value for money and hospitality. I arrived around noon and followed the route suggested by Google maps from Kandy road to the property. The route went adjacent to a serene lake, a small ground and some giant rocks. The hospitality was beyond superior. Room was large with clean linen, adequate toilettaries and a kettle. It's located at less than a kilometer from the amazing Cave temples, so one can just walk by. Dinner was the best I had till date in Srilanka. Also, they prepared breakfast quite early since I had to leave early. The hosts were extremely accommodating and very kind. They also managed to drop me off at bus station in morning. Overall, it was everything that one could ask for.

The room is really big, the bed comfy and the bathroom facilities great. The garden and property are peaceful and relaxing. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and very generous too. We also had dinner on our last night and it was easily one of the best Sri Lankan rice and curries we've had (and we've been eating R&C for the last 6 weeks all over Sri Lanka). But, what really made this our favourite place, in all of Sri Lanka, was the family. They are so warm and welcoming, it's hard not to feel anything but happy around them. They are helpful, respectful, kind and fun. We spent our last night chatting and playing chess and drawing with them and the boys. 3 great little guys. If in Dambulla you want to stay in a lovely spot with a beautiful family. This is the place.
